  1. Stellar Kart's newest CD, Expect The Impossible, is much more than I expected. I've never really listened to their music before. I purchased the CD from Pepsi points and was really impressed with what I heard. Their sound is much different than what I typically listen to (i.e., Starfield, Telecast, Salvador, etc.), but different is good in this case. I highly recommend this CD!!

  2. I bought the first 2 Stellar Kart cds and saw the newest one advertised on Amazon for a pretty low price, so I went ahead and ordered it, but did not have very high expectations. I thought the first CD was great lyrically, but not very good musically. The second one was a little better, but still a bit on the cheesy side. I really like the newest CD quite a bit. Their musical ability is improving. The guitars are sounding better and the tunes are a little more catchy now. Their lyrics are still very spiritual, which is fine with me. I think there was quite a bit of improvement over the first CDs here. It's still not quite in the league of Hawk Nelson or Relient K, but they're catching up, in my opinion. Listen to some samples and see what you think.

  3. Really . . . it does. David Lee Roth once said music in the '80s smiled. By capturing elements of '80s music, that's exactly what this album does. I don't like a lot of Contemporary Christian music, but this album is good --very good--from beginning to end. They don't compromise a modern sound while experimenting with elements from previous generations.

It's got a little of Def Leopard's (or Blue Oyster Cult's) cowbell, Van Halen's 1984 synthesizer, and various other '80s synth sounds similar to Ah-Ha or Cutting Crew. Compared to the normal dark and disturbed albums prevalent in secular as well as Christian music, this is more than a refreshing diversion.

It's great to see a modern group with a modern sound that can capture in sound and mood the essence of what made a decade of music so popular.

  4. This album is a step in somewhat of a new direction for Stellar Kart, as there are a number of poppy tracks mixed in with the occasional pop-punk throwback. My two complaints are the length of the CD, only 10 tracks and about 30 minutes of music, plus there are a couple of tracks that sound like Linkin Park, which is just not a good sound for this band. The sunny pop of "Innocent" to begin the record is classic Stellar Kart, and the ballad "Jesus Loves You" proves that these guys write and sing the songs they feel in their hearts as opposed to some corporate, mainstream spit-shined glossy band who only does what their record label tells them to do. "Automatic" is another song with lots of hooks and guitars. Despite the length of the album, there are enough hooks in the upbeat anthem "Sunshine" and the guitar-studded pop punk of "The Rigt One" (which recalls MxPx even moreso than track #4 on their previous CD) to keep the appetite of their fans satisfied. This band continues to gradually improve, but one does get the feeling that they have not quite hit their peak yet on their three albums to date.

  1. Excellent as always, kirk throws down the tightest grooves with the strong message of god in every fiber, in every note, with every beat.
    He's a BAD BOY .

  2. I'm always late to the party, and I just got this CD, but I have always loved "Brighter Day," and bought the album because of that, but have been so pleased with all the other songs on it too. "Hossanah" and "He Reigns" are gorgeous as well. Kirk is the bomb, plain and simple.

  3. I have had hot and cold, on and off feelings about Kirk Franklin since his music became popular in the earlier nineties. Kirk Franklin admits that he has had some struggles, but this album doesn't struggle at all. This album is an album of exhortation and praise!

  4. These CD is fresh. I love how real the songs are and how many people these songs can reach

  5. This is his best CD to date. I have them all and this by far my favorite one. Very inspirational.

5 comments about I Will Go.

  1. This is definitely their best album yet! As I stated in another review (on their first self-titled album) I am so drawn to their music because of their outstanding accomplishment of amazing instrumental and lyrical artistry. At the same time, the band exceptionally manages to integrate pure worship themes. I won't even get into how incredible they are live, that's another review ;)

Now, I don't like comparing bands because it could give a false impression (plus I like to consider every artist independently). However, I do have to mention that Starfield's sound seems to range from the deep, rich and soulful likeness of Coldplay to the rock and introspective/take-action themes of dcTalk.

Below I comment on a few individual songs. Sometimes I might mention the sound of the music, other times I focus on other aspects. I only chose a few tracks because I don't think I could do every song justice, and I figure a brief overview of the different elements of the album is the best bet.

    1. From The Corners Of The Earth - Kicks off with an exemplary unique sound, eventually transitioning into a very catchy anthem!

    2. Hosanna - The song as we know it with a bit of a softened "rock-inspired" edge (if that makes sense)!

    3. Reign In Us - I appreciate how the transitions, as well as the chorus itself just have these impeccable layers that create a moving sound.

    4. Holy Is Our God - One of, if not my absolute favourite song over all 3 of their albums. I would say it is the equivalent of the song "Obsession" on their sophomore album "Beauty in the Broken", but taken to a whole other level. "Holy is Our God" is a powerful, melodious track with chords and vocals that truly cry out. The repetition of the lyrical declaration just emotively builds and builds. I have to admit, when I am truly engrossed with this song I feel like I am flying.

    "Holy is our God
    Wonderful is He
    Holy is the Lord Almighty
    Holy is our God
    The Prince of perfect peace
    Holy is the Lord Almighty"

    5. I Will Go - This is the song of action, inspiring and calling us to go into the world and do what we were meant to do. It's an effective message with a musical style that has the same kind of anthem feel as "From The Corners Of The Earth". It also really makes you think about our apathy and the privileged position we are in (both geographically and spiritually).

    7. All We Need - I particularly like how the lyrics respond to us needing more in our lives then this world, and how we will not be satisfied otherwise.

"You are all our hearts are beating for
    And You will always be
We don't want what the world gives anymore
    You are all we need"

Once again, I can honestly state that this is Starfield's best album yet, even just based on the first 5 songs! Their music is not entertainment - it is truly an experience that you must discover. Then you'll want an encore!

P.S. The only question I have, and maybe I'll leave this on a random note, but why do they not have a music video yet?!

  2. This album is inspiring and moving. I've played it on loop almost day and night since I got it.

  3. I think Starfield has one of the best vocalists ever. I loved their other two releases, too. I happen to like the "calmer" songs better than the ones with more of a edge. I was afraid this new album would be too rock, but a few songs (Reign in Us, Remain, Hiding Place) sound just like the Starfield I know and love. So glad I bought it.

  4. I have LOVED this group since the first time I heard "Filled With Your Glory" which we still sing at my church. Their 2004 debut album also included the biblical and catchy "Tumbling After" and "Alive In This Moment" which all hooked me. Then, in 2006 they took it up a notch with "Beauty And The Broken" with the hit song "Everything Is Beautiful" and one of my favorite Starfield songs, "Obsession".

Now in 2008, along comes "I Will Go". Like the 1st two albums, this is alternative rock praise and worship and arguably their strongest album to date. "From The Corners of the Earth" kicks it off in classic Starfield style and then they totally rock "Hosanna", an amazing cover of the Hillsong United song. "Reign In Us", the rocking "I Will Go" and "Hiding Place" are my other favorites. Fans of Delirious?, Leeland and Sanctus Real will want to "Go" with Starfield.

  5. This CD is unique in that it is very appealing with its upbeat tunes and electric noises attracting a teenager or young adult, or even adults but does not jeopardize lyrical quality. The lyrics are very moving. Enhanced by the music, the lyrics reflect the heart of the artists and their desires for glorifying God. The lyrics alone can move a heavy heart.

Compared with the first Starfield album, this one, I feel, is better in the musical sense. The music is more energetic, more upbeat. But like the first album, this one does not trade lyrical quality for instrumental quality. My favorite song on the album is probably Reign in Us. It is a very clear proclamation and a powerful call for God to come into our lives and take control. It expresses the desperation of mankind and how the only solution is Jesus and his mighty hand working in our lives.

Overall, I think that this CD is a two thumbs up, maybe even some big toes. It's great to listen to while driving or at home or at any venue and it introduces an atmosphere of worship that is irresistible. Every time I listen to it I get excited about worshiping God and sometimes can't help but dance. It's a must have for any contemporary worship fans (Rush of Fool fans, etc.).

  1. My favorites in this order are You, Time 4 A Change, and Holding On To You.
This album is more like Part 1, Part 2 was released first.
ONE LOVE IS STILL HEAVY HITTING IN MY CAR, LOL!

  2. THIS CD DEFINITELY DESERVES EVERYONES TOTAL ATTENTION! ITS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING & IS A TRUE BLESSING FROM BEGINNING TO END. YOU SHOULD EVEN BLESS FAMILY & FRIENDS WITH IT. I HAVE USED THIS CD TO ENCOURAGE & PRAISE MYSELF OUT OF CHALLENGING TIMES WHEN GOD WAS "STRETCHING ME" TO RECIEVE MORE FROM HIM & I HAVE ALSO USED THIS CD IN GOOD TIMES TO JUST PRAISE GOD & UPLIFT HIS NAME. THESE GUYS REALLY LOVE THE LORD & THEY SHOW IT & YOU FEEL IT! J MOSS IS AN AMAZING PRODUCER & SINGER ALL BY HIMSELF SO TO SAY PAJAM DID THIS CD SHOULD TELL YOU ITS RIDICULOUS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. THIS CD IS A BLESSING TO ANYONE THAT GETS IT IN THEIR HANDS & I MEAN IT FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. :0)..GOD BLESS YOU! xoxoxoxoxo

  3. This CD is great! The guys have a modern sound that makes me proud of them infusing it with Gospel. My favourite song is "Holding on to You". I even tested it on group of ppl to see their response to it. It was amazing to see everybody come together and dance to it. Other favourites include the smooth sounding "U Got Me Through", head bobbing "Time for a Change"and the bonus track "Everybody can't Go". As a matter of fact... I love all the songs. Being in the Caribbean, you dont hear much Gospel songs being sung like that. I dont regret buying this Cd at all. Yall better get it, man. Blessings from d Most High to 21:03!

  4. Well, I'm sure many will disagree, but my opinion is true, this album is merely OK. This cd does not show growth. The group did not branch out and work with other producers. At times, they continue to sound like J. Moss' back-up singers (on thier own cd!). The fast paced songs all sound the same, or are a mere imitation to the Chris Brown style, and slow songs are forced on the cd. Now I love 21:03, I love their message, and I love the fact that they are young brothas holding up the standard for youth Christianity. However, we are not judging them (as people) we are judging the musical artistry and this time, they did not cut it. I have faith in you, try again.

  5. This is a wonderful CD. 21:03 sound very mature in this CD. All can relate and listen to it. You can tell they sing from their heart and the songs stick with you. My daughter, who is 4, loves this CD. She think it is one of the great ones(CD's) out there. She played for a week straight in her CD player. "Total Attention" really gets your attention with the bollywood influence.I like "Riverside" a tribute to the classic spiritual. My favorite is "U got me through". It is just a nice relaxing jam talking about how God brings you through life's events."Power of Christ" is live and you can feel the group's personal knowledge of the song. You can tell it is more than just a song. It has been out about a week or two and I have already bought three copies of this because every one I let listen to mine love the CD so much. I just let them have them. That alone should encourage you to take a listen, too. I love see young men sing about something helpful and constructive but not portray them selves as old and stuffy. Plus they are not to gummy pop that it irritates you. They remind me of a Men of Standard or Commissioned with a 21st century sound.

  2. This is album is HOT. Every track takes you a little higher. My favorite is "Your favor." Pastor Kee, keep doing your thing!

5 comments about God of This City.

  1. What a joy to worship and even better with the powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies from the new Passion CD. I listen to it once a week on my way to work and its a great way to start up an awesome day!
Praise the Lord for the music that flows from His hands through His people.
    Have a blessed day y'all!

  2. I've been a big fan of the Passion conference collections for the past 10 years, especially the last few which have included the newest live versions of future hits by Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman and Charlie Hall.

Passion: God of This City is another good Passion collection. God of This City by Chris Tomlin is one of the highlights and I love the addition of Fee and We Shine to the conference. My other favorites are Hosanna sung by Christy Nockels, The Glory Of It All by David Crowder and my favorite song is Shine by Matt Redman based on Philippians 2:14-16, which seems to be the theme of this album.

  3. Ditto the other reviews that recommend this album. One thing to say--Sing Sing Sing by Chris Tomlin reminds me of being at his concert (in San Diego) Same feel, but you get it everyday in the car! I don't love every song, but they all give me things to think about.

  4. Great CD....I just went to their regional conference in D.C. and all the songs that were played at the conference sounded just like the cd. AMAZING!!

  5. With a collection of songs that are as memorable as the events where they were recorded, God of This City is, without a doubt, the best album Passion/sixsteps has put out thus far.

Highlighting some of the best moments of both Passion'07 in Atlanta (with over 23,000 university students) and the USA regional events in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and soon, Dallas, DC, and Atlanta, the album features 6 new tracks from sixsteps' artist-worshipers, as well songs that will be familiar to those who follow the Passion movement closely.

Featuring the talents of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder* Band, Charlie Hall, and Matt Redman, God of This City is moving from start to finish. Naturally, the title track serves as one of the more captivating anthems on the album. Written by an incredible, Belfast-based group called Bluetree, and led by Chris Tomlin, with a chorus that is at least as memorable the Passion events themselves, the very heartbeat of God pours out of the lyrics of this song that will no doubt serve as a banner over the Passion movement - and all those it reaches - in the days, and even years, to come.

In all, God of This City is an incredible collection, a must-have for anyone who desires to draw near to the heart of God through music.

  1. With all the music out there it is hard to find unique bands. This is incredibly amplified in the Christian sector. Leeland is a breathe of fresh air to a society that lives with many lousy bands. I cannot recommend them enough.

  2. This is a very good Christian band. I recommend this to any one who likes songs with real messages about whats going on in the world today. My favorite song is "Tears of the Saints" it is really AWESOME, it makes me cry everytime I hear it.
    God Bless

  3. Leeland did a great job on this album. Usually I only like 2 or 3 songs on a cd but in this case I really like all 11 songs very much. Each one is a bit different that the other. There is one that sounds a lot like the early beatles. BUY it you will like it.

  4. this is a wonderful CD-will make you want to worship and pray! heartfelt prayerful call is the title Tears of the Saints..my husband and I love this CD!

  5. An earlier review stated a lot of CCM is filtered through too much sweetener, and I have to agree. To add, a lot of Christian pop/rock suffers from what I call "One Good Verse and Refrain Syndrome" - one strong verse, a clever refrain - then said refrain is repeated over and over.. and over. Not here. Every song, every one, sounds like it was nurtured and crafted to be the very best. I bought the album on the strength of Tears of the Saints, and though it's great, all of the songs are (the final cut, table of the lord I believe its called, is strong and emotional but could have had - maybe - one - less - verse repetition?....) Some struck me more than others, of course, but all throughout was strong song-writing, great music, and a strong message in each. The songs vary from rocker to ballads, shades of good Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline (both groups I love but which are hit or miss song to song on any given album). Wonderful, wonderful collection of tunes.

5 comments about Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

  1. another one of my favorite soundtracks. this one speaks to my spirit. loved the movie as well. great to listen to on a sunday morning after church or just when you feel like you need some inspirational words. favorite track is ain't it funny. that song is true for any woman who dealt with a man, similar to the main character in the movie. as my mother used to say "leave them alone and they'll come home, wagging their tails behind them." that's why that song speaks true to me the most. the funny part is that when they're ready to come home it's too late.

  2. When this movie first came out i looked for the soundtrack immediately, but it was to no avail....i was excited when it finally was released. The songs give me a sense of relief and they put my mind to ease. THANK YOU Tyler Perry for the movie and finally releasing the soundtrack!! Keep up the good work and i look forward to more great movies and wish you all the luck on your future endevours....

  3. Since 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' is one of my favorite movies, I decided to order the soundtrack. However, after reading some of the negative reviews, I almost wished I hadn't. After receiving the cd, I'm so glad I didn't cancel my order. I LOVE the soundtrack! Through the highs of life and the lows of life, this soundtrack stays with you.

I'm a little stumped over the editorial review of Cheryl Riley's version of 'One of Us'. She sings the song with passion and deep insight; another lovely version of an incredible song. My favorite track on the cd is, hands down, 'Take it to Jesus' by Tamela Mann. What a powerful message about the love and grace of God! Excellent, excellent arrangement!!

While I can understand some of the other reviewers questioning why some of the artists on the cd are not the artists from the movie, this soundtrack is still very well arranged. It will not disappoint!

  4. Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! This CD is phenomenal!! You have to get it!!

  5. I bought the cd for the song "Father, can you hear me"...it is a wonderful collection of music. Get it now!

  1. My sister introduced me to Relient K music, and when she told me it was Christian Rock, I was frankly surprised. The songs I listened to, rarely mentioned anything in my opinion, Christian-like. When I expanded my selection of Relient K music, I did hear talk of God and heaven occasionally, but not very much. Some of my favorite Relient K songs are: Be My Escape; In Love With The 80's(Pink Tux to the Prom); Manic Monday; Failure to Excommunicate; Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet; More Than Useless; I So Hate Consequences; Down in Flames; Pressing On; Maybe it's Maybelline; Sadie Hawkins Dance; High of 75; Who I Am Hates Who I've Been; Life After Death And Taxes; Must Have Done Something Right; College Kids; Breakdown; Chapstick, Chapped Lips and Things Like Chemistry; Hello McFly; The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything; This Week The Trend; Maintain Consciousness; Let It All Out; and, When I go Down. Plus a billion others :-)

  2. I used to think this cd was the best Relient K cd but, I don't relly think that any more. If you are a Relient K fan then you should love this cd. I think the best song is Be My Escape.

  3. The lyrics to this CD are so deep. The CD is funny as usual, but reflects the growing maturity of the band (not that I don't love the immaturity of the band.) :)

  4. This release is very close to home. They have great pop songs, and
riffing on this album. A top 40 lovers pick. Very crafty, and
Matt's lyrics are outstanding, inspirational, and godspoken.

  5. Don't get me wrong, I like certain praise songs like "Heart of Worship", "Open the Eyes of my Heart Lord" etc. but if you want to listen to a band that is musically and lyricially intelligent, this is the band for you. I got introduced to this band with this cd by my wife. "High of 75" is the first song I can remember actually listening to. At first it struck me as a very silly song, and it still is...but I started listening to the rest of the cd and I was hooked. "My Girl's ex-Boyfriend" is particularly witty and random. Great cd and check out Five Score & Seven Years Ago for more great tunes about life, love, and God.
