  1. I have all the ZOEgirl albums, but this one would have to be my fave. It's so upbeat and the lyerics are really good! I'm a Christian girl and I love hearing great songs about God that also have great pop beats. This is a winner of a CD!!!!

  2. Oh my goodness, zoegirl just keeps getting better and better with every new album they make! This is their 5th album if you count their remix album. It's also about time I wrote a review about this because I got this CD last April (I know, long time ago)! Anyway, it's a very great CD, very uplifting music, and I think we can all learn from it, too. It's very great christain music that a lot of christains would love.

    1. Reason to live - 9/10 A really good beginning! Zoegirl always knows how to beging their album, and this song is very encouraging.

    2. Dead serious - 10/10 Wow, this is a very pop, dancy song! Chrissy's voice in the chorus is amazing, I like her the best. This song is also really cool to sing along to, and it's very energetic.

    3. About you - 10/10 A very great single! They need to make a video of this song sometimes, it would be interesting to see what it's like, and the lyrics are so true

    4. Scream - 10/10 Oh, this song is so beautiful! It's so encouraging and uplifting, it's a very sweet song written by Alisa. And you definitely don't have to scream for God to hear your prayers!

    5. Forevermore - 10/10 This song is also mainly sang by Alisa, at least in the chorus, which is by far the best part of this song! It talks about how our Lord Jesus Christ is forevermore Holy, and that He reigns all the earth.

    6. The way You love me - 9/10 This song is also very sweet, but I gave it 9 out of 10 because it's a little too slow of a song for my taste. But I still like it a lot, because the lyrics are important to know.

    7. Let it out - 10/10 Ok, this song is EXACTLY the opposite of the previous one! It is very upbeat and energetic, and also a very short song he he.

    8. Good girl - 10/10 This one is great too! I didn't like it TOO much when I first heard it, but now I think it's really cool, especially with Chrissy singing the chorus so well!

    9. Not the one - 10/10 Cool! Chrissy sings the whole song, and it sounds great! She and Alisa wrote it, and it talks about how they changed themselves completely, and that they became christains and finally stopped taking advice from wicked people and all.

    10. Skin deep - 10/10 My favorite song on the whole CD! This is a very sweet and true song that Kristen wrote, and she has a very pretty voice when singing this (the whole song is sang by her), and the tune is so beautiful. We are definitely soooooo much more than skin deep!

    11. Safe - 10/10 A perfect ending to this album. It really is because it talks about us christains spending eternity with God in Heaven, and that if you believe in Christ as your Saviour, you're safe, and that's what the world will be like in the end, which is why this is such a perfect ending to the album!

Anyway, there you have it! Those reasons listed above are the reasons why I love this album. I REALLY hope the make another album, but I'm not sure they will, and if they don't, I'll miss them and their music sooooooo much! It's always so nice to pop in one of their CD's (I own them all) and listen to their voices, hearing them sing their praises to the Lord! So, if you like Christain music, I urge you to buy this CD, it's great! And if there are any non-christains reading my interview who don't know the Lord, please buy this CD and see if you like it. And if you do, I hope it will change your heart and that you will get to know Christ someday. Trust me, it's definitely worth it!

  3. my friend wanted me to listen to this band and it was pretty good didnt listin to all of them but the best one was dead sirius. i will have to listen to the rest. this might be a good band but superchick will probably always be a better band then them.

  4. Have you ever gotten a CD, and it is great for a while, but after you hear it over and over, it get's boring? That's how this CD was.

Overall, it was a great CD, the songs show young girls to live for God but with a great, contemerary beat. It's just not good to have JUST this CD, because it will eventually grow tiresome.

  5. I absolutely love this CD and can't listen to it enough. I always have it playing in the car and I hope to buy several more CDs by this group. They are awesome! I feel so uplifted after listening to their good, clean music!

  1. I LOVE THIS CD! We sing most of these songs at church! :) LOVE IT!!!!

  2. This is a great CD and we use it a lot in our dance ministry.

  3. I loved it.It was everything I imagined it would be.

  4. This compilation could not have been intended for those looking to be entertained. This dvd is a true worship dvd intended for the true worshipper. I didn't see much of the dvd due to the fact that I found myself closing my eyes, tilting my head back and lifting my hands to the Lord. My wife walked in from work and got caught up into my worship!!! I recommend this dvd to anyone who has any type of relationship with GOD ALMIGHTY!!! Get It. Get It. Get It.

  5. This cd features the best of all of Richard's songs....past and present. From "My Everything," to "Center of my Joy," THIS cd has it all!!!!!

  1. I loved every song on this album. At times I wish the vocals on a few tracks were just a tad bit louder than the bass so I could make out every word but otherwise great sounds, vocals and themes. I found out about this band by accident but I knew I liked them as soon as I saw the 'Disaster' music video and heard their sound. This is their first but it's so well put together. It was a great buy for me and I really suggest you pick up their album.

  2. I love this album. If you like Christian hard rock, such as Red, Skillet or Decyfer Down, you'll love this album. I'm always looking for good Christian hard rock. These guys are right up there on the top of my list. The only thing I don't like is the lyrics of the song "Disaster." I absolutely love the music in this song. However, it seems to me as though they are saying that God causes disaster in peoples' lives in order to help them in some way, or teach them something. Which is totally untrue. "Thank God for disaster..." is part of their chorus. God never causes disaster in our lives. Read Jeremiah 29:11. Also, never get the OLD and NEW testament confused. We live in a different covenant than those in the old testament. God never causes bad things in our lives, however, He can turn them around for good if they happen. But He is NEVER the author of disaster. God wants the best for all of us. If disaster happens, He will do all in His power to turn it around and use it for good somehow; but that is all "according to the power that works in us" (Ephesians 3:20). He is never the cause of disaster.....ever. Maybe this is really the message they meant to portray in their lyrics. I'm not really sure. Their video seems to hint towards that possibly. But anyways, it is a great album. They have a heart for God; which is awesome.

  3. The front of the cd wrapper said "if you like skillet, thousand foot krutch, and pod, then you'll like Since October", part of that statement is true, you'll definitely like Since October, which isn't saying that I don't like those other bands, I just don't know enough about them to make the comparison. I like it that the lyrics are understandable, and the music is exciting and makes you want to rock out. The songs are to the point and relateable, but not too preachy. I guess this cd is labeled "christian", but anyone who just likes great music and well-written songs, should definitely get this one, because, it's awesome. I don't have any thing bad to say about this cd, if you get a chance to see them live, you should go, they are fantastic.

5 comments about Here in America (Bonus DVD).

  1. I can't say enough about this CD/DVD. I have been a die hard Mullins fan since the 80's. I've been trying to saturate myself with anything Rich for months now. This CD/DVD is such a treasure. It is yet another project of Rich's that blesses and makes one want more. The concert footage was great, and helps to give an insight to the man and his God.

  2. If I was stranded on a desert island (albeit, one with electricity, a TV and a DVD player) and could only choose 10 items, this would be one of them. I disagree with the reviewer who thinks this doesn't stand up to repeated viewing/listening. Both the CD and DVD in this set have been played often at my house. My only wish is that someone would unearth some other videos of Rich Mullins concerts to share with the world.

  3. This two-disc set is a must-have for those who know and love Rich Mullins' music. As with everything this poetic, wise, and witty man of God ever did with his great gifts of lyrics and music, the songs on this CD and companion DVD lift up your mind and heart to the Lord without being cloying or preachy. An assemblage of taped excerpts from his concerts--in drafty, very real auditoriums, not elegant concert halls--the CD is the closest thing to a "live" album that Rich Mullins left us, but in a very real way, it is better than a live album. Not in terms of production, certainly; the sound quality is poor and you can hear members of the audience coughing away in some songs. But the music and patter with the audience is utterly real. In addition to freewheeling renditions of his songs (some versions of which sound better in all their raw glory here than they do on studio albums...check out "It Don't Do" and "Verge of a Miracle"), there are excerpts of his interactions with audiences, both touching and humorous. The DVD is an absolute gem; it includes a concert with his band that was taped in Indiana only six months before his death. The DVD also includes twelve brief segments of Rich commenting on living the spiritual life, but true to his style, in a way that is super-engaging and inspiring without being boring in the least. Our loss is heaven's gain, but Rich left us a lot of beautiful music, profound words, and the poetry of his lyrics to help guide us in our walks with the Lord. I give this two-disc set the highest recommendation.

  4. A good, good friend of mine sent me a copy of this wonderful CD/DVD collection. So before I give Here in America the most honest review I can muster, I must admit that: 1. My copy is a highly prized gift & 2. Rich Mullins is a hero of mine (see Rich's own definition of a hero on the DVD). That said, I honestly don't like much of the music on the CD (there are some blazing exceptions though)--but I LOVE the DVD!

The songs worth hearing on the CD are few, but deep in quality. The live versions of Hello Old Friends, What Trouble Are Giants? and None Are Stronger are all excellent. What Trouble Are Giants? has actually become my son's favorite song.

Yet that's not why we're here--is it? One gets the sense that the music was just a pretext for getting the DVD a wider audience. I'm glad they marketed it that way; I doubt I would have seen the DVD otherwise.

The DVD is top notch. We get an excellent live studio performance by Rich and the Ragamuffins. Added to that (and this is the real show-stopper for me) is the film of Rich and Beaker lecturing at the same place a few years earlier. Who knew Rich was such an awesome and insightful teacher?

I love his idea of the Bible being a book of stories about a bunch of weirdos and God being the biggest weirdo of them all--as Brennan Manning would say--"The Wild Man." This is teaching from a man who knew first-hand the reckless raging fury that they call the Love of God. Amen.

I'll stop babbling. It is time for you to get your own copy. You won't be disappointed.

I give Here in America a hearfelt recommendation.

  5. Buy this CD/DVD if you want to watch Rich Mullins perform live. The songs on the CD are classic Mullins and inspire and entertain. All Mullins fans should have this CD/DVD in their collecton.

  1. I love the digital age because you don't have to purchase a whole CD to get 2 good songs. However no need to worry on this album - digital or physical, you'll want the whole thing! Rarely do I encounter an album where a majority of the songs are good - let alone where every one is. Each and every song on this album is a masterpiece, from the title track "Look To You" to the United version of Awesome God. I highly recommend it - you won't be disappointed (I've had this album for a few years now, and I haven't tired of it).

  2. I have been listening to Hillsong (and more recently Hillsong United) for the past 7 years. This is definitely one of their best works. Marty Simpson, front man for this group, is heavily involved on the majority of the tracks. I would gladly pay twice retail for this if I had to. Fantastic CD. Comes with a DVD of the same audio performance that is recorded. There are no weak tracks on this disc. The music has helped me to focus on the Lord as I make my way to and from work or when hanging out with friends. Standouts include tracks 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 11, 13. None of the others are bad, these are just personal faves. God bless.

  3. I have heard of Hillsong many times before but dont think I have ever heard a Hillsong performance or song before today. In one day this album has become one of my favorites. Right up there with Michael W Smith "Worship". Helps you get your focus on God.

    Good stuff!

  4. This CD is awesome! The songs are uplifting and the music is very contemporary. Our whole family enjoys it!

  5. Anyone young and looking for genuine young praise music should get this. God takes incredibly talented people and makes their talents multiply like crazy. an all of the music is so filled with worship for GOd. a must have, our youth group listens to this stuff all the time now.

5 comments about Share the Well.

  1. This is one of the best albums anyone could own. Its good music, well-written chiefly by 3 incredible songwriters (Moore, Osenga and Goodgame). Good music is hard to come by, but important music... This album is about as important as any I've ever heard. It deals with real life, with people around the world - no America-centric writing here. It is Christ-centered and exalting. And it is such in a world-wide context - among all peoples. That's a characterisic that is sorely lacking in the States, and it is quite refreshing.

  2. As a longtime fan of Caedmon's Call, like many of the other reviewers I was at first not impressed by the new sounds here. I've never been much of a world music fan. But the more I listened to the album, the more I appreciated the message, the lyrics, and eventually, the new musical sound. Now it is one of the most-played albums on my iPod. All I Need (I Did Not Catch Your Name) is now one of my all-time favorite songs. Its description of trusting God amid a simple lifestyle still brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it. Share the Well and Mother India are also favorites, and I love the beat and message of Dalit Hymn. I commend the band for putting out an album that was such a change, and I thank them for challenging and stretching me musically and theologically.

  3. There really isn't much left to say about this album. Just read the other reviews, or better yet, grab a copy and listen. I've long despised the Contemporary Christian Music industry, with its narrow minded ideas about Christianity, music, and social issues. This CD might not right all those wrongs, but it is clearly a collection of music from a bunch of Christians who actually got it right. Christianity isn't just some pie-in-the-sky philosophy, Jesus was concerned with helping those in need and showing compassion to all. This album delivers just that by showing us the stories of the "least of these" in remote corners of the world and the people who went there to meet them and returned changed forever.

Musically this album is nothing short of astounding. The mix of Eastern and Western folk sounds, the variety of instruments and vocals, the soaring melodies and catchy hooks, the little interludes, all add up to a powerful listening experience completely unlike anything you've heard before. Even if "world" music isn't your particular cup of tea, the passion that Caedmon's Call and friends inject into these songs alone should be enough to win over most every skeptic.

The rest of the CCM world can continue to copy mainstream sounds and fashions and make their safe isolated community and crappy art all they want to, I won't give them a dime of my money. This album, however, blazes new ground and pulses with so much energy and compassion and power that it almost makes up for everything else out there. (And I'm not in any way biased, even if my screenname just so happens to be one of the tentative titles that were being considered before the band settled on Share The Well) This album really is THAT good, and anyone with a heart for humanitarian work and great music from all over the world needs to add this to their collection ASAP!

  4. This album is not as good as their earlier stuff but it is still pretty good. I'd borrow it first before buying it just to make sure you like it.

  5. I know very little about Cadmons call. The only cd, besides this one, that I own, is 40 acres, which I hear is one of the best. This cd is about the same. Actually, in terms of worship, I think this one is better with the song, "Jesus is All I Need" reminding belivers who listen to this cd that they need not money or riches as long as they have Chrsit.

The cd also does a good job in presenting some of the view points of the untouchable caste of India (the Dahlites I think they are reffered to in the cd). The Dahlit hymn is amazing! It has passion telling the prime minister of India to look past the stupid Hindu religion and force the others castes to give these people fair treatment! Also, if you buy this cd, read the lyrics! The little phrase repeated over and over again means "With God all things are possible". Just a good reminder that through hardship with God there's hope.

The rest of the cd will keep you entertained with a mixture of Indian music (music from India) and adult contemporary. The quality and mixture meet a good compromise leaving the ears not stail with dull tones that are the same, keeping the mind moving as it focuses on each note and word. Yet, it also remains static to a certain extent, keeping pretty much to the same style, the mixture of the two, allowing the ears to not get overwhelmed with what is being heard.

Basically, buy the cd if you want something worth your money.

2 comments about The Acapella Project II.

  1. I have been listening to Glad for over ten years, and I love their stuff. They have carved out a rather unique niche in the Christian music market, establishing a following from folks who would not naturally be drawn to a capella music. For that, they are to be commended.

There are several outstanding tracks on this disc, including "Christ the Lord is Risen Today," "You Put This Love in My Heart," and "All Glory, Laud and Honor." As one would expect from Glad, none of these sound anything like what you know, but their arrangements of these three are fantastic and well executed.

I refrain from giving this album five stars because several of the songs are just overarranged. This is the plague of Glad, whereby they seem to try so hard to be unique that they ultimately arrange the melody right out of a song. One cannot critique their ability to sing amazingly complex chord structures, but there are times that the chords are so complex that it destroys a song. For instance, "My Jesus, I Love Thee" just sounds dreadful to this listener.

Knowing this fact about Glad, I will continue to buy their music for the home runs, knowing that there will usually be one or two strikeouts on each album when the arranger just tried to get too fancy and wrecked a song. In any case, Glad can never be accused of being generic or uncreative. I'm glad that they have had such a successful career of bringing their new sound to the world of Christian music.

  2. Like most things in my life I experienced GLAD in reverse of release dates. I thought it impossible to improve upon Project III and then I experienced Project II. Their variations on Christ the Lord is Risen Today sends cold chills up and down my spine and All Glory Laud and Honor Him makes my heart swell for the praise and worship GLAD offers to millions of Christians worldwide. I'm so very glad I've added GLAD to my music repetoire. "I say Rejoice, I say again Rejoice" And, as is my pattern, I will now search, find and experience Project I. Happy Acapella Harmonizing!

5 comments about You Survived.

  1. As the first two reviewers said before this album is not getting the amount of airplay it deserves. When I first bought it. I bought it mainly because of the title track then as I began to listen to it every song ministered to me in it's own way. My favorites have to be Welcome in your Presence, Still Here, God Can, You Survived, My father knows and you are holy.

  2. This album deserves a lot more air play then it has been receiving. If you are looking for an album that really ministers to your soul then this should be in your collection. The title song itself is enough for you to purchase the album. I know that even though i went through a lot of hard times in my life, I am still a survivor. James fortune & Fiya keep ministering and letting God use you.

  3. It seems like a lot of people are sleeping on this album. When I heard the title track "You Survived" on the radio over a year ago I knew I had to find out who the song was from. WHen I finally got the CD it really ministered to me from day one. It is such a uplifting album. I think it's great for young adults, well I think everyone can recieve something from this album. "God Can" is another uplifting track. Also, "I'm Still Here" really spoke to me, because I am a college student and it always seems like something, whether it be financially, in classes, with time or anything is going wrong.

Love the CD, I hope others will pick it up and I pray that is ministers to them like it did and continues to do with me.

    Happy Listening
    Stay Blessed

  4. Excellent album. Upbeat tracks and lively music for young christians as well as the young at heart.

  5. Wow. What more to say than wow. This album is mad hott. If you like gospel and you like some hott cats usin their musical gifts to the fullest, then this album is for you. Excellent vocal talents featuring Shawn McClemore, Nikki Ross Turneley, and EB layin down the 16 bars. This is one of the HOTTEST gospel joints goin on right now. Also in this album is the work of keyboard player Terrence Vaughn, who is a phenominal keyboard player. Terrence helped produce this album, and works with LL Cool J and Brent Jones. All the players on this CD are top notch musicians. Best of all James keeps it real and tells it like it is, his lyrics are down to earth and for real. You gotta love this CD for what it is, and for the incredible talent displayed throughout each track. Two hott tracks to check out are "Praise Anthem" and "Dance (remix)". The best thing I can compare FIYA to is Tye Tribbett and GA, or John P. Kee. If you like gospel this is the CD to get!!
