5 comments about You Are My Flower.

  1. I am a fan of this artist, but this album was an early work made at a friends house. It is not of the same quality as more recent releases. It would have been fine for $7.

  2. There is only so much Wonder Pets, "Old McDonald" and "I'm a Little Teapot" I can take before I go crazy! Elizabeth Mitchell's CDs (we also listen to her albums "You are my Sunshine" and "You are my Little Bird") are a wonderful alternative to annoying children's music. Her songs are beautiful and fun to sing along to. My three year old has learned the words to most of the songs and loves them! I also sing some of Elizabeth's songs as lullabies to my baby at bedtime and they are great for soothing her to sleep.

Elizabeth Mitchell's CDs are must haves for all parents who want to listen to GOOD music with their children!

  3. All the songs are really great, but it's not as entertaining as the Your Are My Sunshine cd. Elizabeth Mitchell has a great voice and makes it easy and fun to listen to kids' music.

  4. My 2 year old grand daughter loves Elizabeth Mitchell. Every time we talk on the phone we sing "Freight Train" and "Shoo Fly". Elizabeth Mitchell is intentional in her love and respect of kids. Her music is simple and sweet. It is totally void of merchandising and her appeal crosses generations. I ordered "You Are My Flower" for myself!

  5. I have all of Elizabeth Mitchell's CD's and this one is my least favorite. There are a couple of cute songs on there, but we hardly ever listen to it, b/c my son absolutely loves her other CD's better (Little Bird & You are my Sunshine). If you're deciding which one to get, I'd go with the two above that I mentioned!

3 comments about Sing Yoursel Silly/Elmo's Musical Adventure.

  1. I bought these videos for my 20 month old granddaughter. Although she's very young and can easily be distracted, she sat still through the entire showing of "Peter and the Wolf" where Elmo was the star. She adores Elmo and his friends and Sing Yourself Silly gets her on her feet and dancing. She wants everyone to dance with her. Good fun for everyone!! This product was well worth the small investment!

  2. so many classics are on here...honestly, we haven't seen the elmo story cd yet - but the SING YOURSELF SILLY is very entertaining...and brings back many memories...it's nice to share this with our child.

  3. These are both great DVDs. It's a bargain.

Silly Songs is a fun collection with many gems. The extended Put down the Ducky is the big closer but the whole DVD is mostly A grade with maybe one A- and one B- among selections. (no grade inflation)

Elmo's adventure is Peter & the Woolf at the Boston Pops within a story about music & cooperation. Hats off to the crew for making the cooperative points gently without getting in the way of the story. There's huge depth to this. My daughter followed the story before age 2, but there should be things for much older children to find & enjoy. It's a treat to see real musicians & instruments are featured.

5 comments about Mozart's Magic Fantasy: A Journey Through 'The Magic Flute'.

  1. I'm a general music teacher for grades K-2. I was a vocal major in college, and I am an opera singer. I really wanted to do an introduction to opera with my 2nd graders, and I think this CD is a great tool to do just that. The Magic Flute is one of my favorite operas, and it's a perfect story for kids. The child narrator really makes the opera more approachable for children, and the performers have very clear, expressive voices, so the story is easy to follow.

  2. Outstanding way to introduce children to the classics in opera. Seems certain that this exposure will make them love music and expand their horizons. Album is expertly professional.

  3. I have listen to this CD in the car during trips for the last 10 years, when my kids were 4,6 and 7. They all adore it! It is the best way to get kids into classical music and onto the magic of Mozart. Highly reccomended!

  4. ...so don't put it down because the voices annoyed you but not your child. Being 19, I can still remember how I felt about this tape, so I'd like to think this review is somewhat more useful.

It is, in my opinion, the perfect introduction to opera. Growing up, I would listen to this whenever I was poorly and off school. I found the storyline exciting, sometimes scary, romantic, and yes the little girl annoyed me the older I got, but nevertheless, I used to imagine that I was her.

In response to the reviewer who said that this does not give you an appreciation of Mozart, I disagree entirely. It is true, Beethoven Lives Upstairs is also wonderful, and probably is a big influence on why he is one of my favourite composers, but thanks to Mozart's Magic Fantasy I am now enthralled by the actual opera, and have it as one of the most listened to playlists on my computer.

The most hum-able melodies and the scariest and jolliest tunes from his opera are on here, and it is the equivalent of an abridged book.

I would also highly recommend Beethoven Lives Upstairs, Mr Bach Comes to Call, and Peter and The Wolf - A Young Person's Guide To The Orchestra.

  5. Mozart's Magic Fantasy captivated my daughter at the tender age of two. She is five now and still LOVES to listen to this recording! It's a bit different from the traditional version, but it contains much of the original music, along with a milder story line for the kids. After two years of listening to this version, we purchased the full Opera performance on video. Despite the fact that the entire performance is in a language my daughter doesn't speak (German) she has watched the film presentation of The Magic Flute over and over again. Now she wants flute lessons...! It all started with the Classical Kids story, Mozart's Magic Fantasy.

5 comments about Music Machine: The Fruit of the Spirit.

  1. I can remember learning some of these songs many years ago in grade three! I still have the record and have just listened to it. Everyone should have this one. I will have to buy a few copies for friends who have kids. My favourite is Herbert the Snail.

  2. I listened to the "Music Machine" growing up and it brings back great memories. I love hearing my kids sing the songs and enjoy the wholesome message the songs convey. They especially love the "Patience" song! We will enjoy this one for many more years!

  3. I know there are already several positive reviews for Music Machine, but I could not pass up the opportunity to introduce others to a soundtrack that is so well loved in our family. I listened to this as a child and it was not uncommon for my mother to sing Herbert's song about patience when we were being impatient or easily offended. When I got married my mother gave me many of the cassette tapes that I had as a child and now my children love to listen to Music Machine and my 3 year old requests it every night before bed. She goes to sleep listening to songs about God's greatest fruit and, I have to admit, I sing "have patience" whenever we are dealing with grumpiness. I am ordering this CD for my family and for my friend who keeps asking me about that song I sing to my kids.

  4. Like other reviewers, I had this tape when I was younger. I think I acquired this tape when I was 9 or 10 and that was all I would listen to! I took it with me on vacation and I would listen to it through headphones but would still sing the songs outloud. My parents grew tired of hearing me sing the same songs over and over again. The tape was long gone by the time my daughter came around, and to my delight they have made it available on CD!!! Really people, 5 stars is not a high enough rating. Even though I haven't listened to this music for over 10 years I was able to sing every word of it once I got the CD home. It gives us such a good message and I still love every single song on the CD. My daughter loves them too and asks to listen to Music Machine every time we get in the car. DO NOT HESITATE to buy this CD for your children or any other children you may know. I can't say enough good things about this CD and the postive Christian message it sends.

  5. When I was in the 1st grade, I was in the Music Machine musical at our church. I would sit with my Music Machine album and listen to it for hours on end. The words and lessons have stayed with me throughout my life.
I am now a mother of two sons (ages 2 & 4). Everytime we get into the car, they both chant "Music Machine! Music Machine!". Although, I've heard these songs about a billion times, I never tire of them. It's such a blessing to see my children learning the same values that I was taught.

5 comments about The Barbie Diaries.

  1. It's a little mature for the typical Barbie crowd. I bought it for my four year old daughter, and I was taken aback a bit by the more mature themes represented on the DVD (high school, Fall Formals, crushing on the cutest guy in school, etc). But I actually like the DVD myself. It's sweet, and has great music throughout by Skye Sweetnam. My daughter watches it with me, and we discuss things she doesn't understand. She also loves the music. But, once again, it would have been nice to have a bit more of a head's up on the actual content.

  2. Personally thought this was a great film, most young girls or teens can relate to
The graphics are probably the best yet out of the rest of the barbie movies
I also did not think that the movie was too mature for young audiences as a previous reviewer stated
The scene when Kevin commented on the girls hugging wasn't in any way, shape or form meant to be crude
Anyone should be able to see, that Kevin only tries to find ways to be get barbie to realize how much he loves her.
It saddens me, to see that someone could have such a negative outlook over such innocent emotions
I suppose it's because of reviews like that, why television cencors everything now days

  3. I was about 11 or 12 when this came out. So I've already been exposed to similar things like Lizzie Mcguire (sp?) and Mean Girls. I think this was on that road, just notched down a few levels. I was fine with the movie, but I'm getting kind of tired of this:

A girl, has guy friend, guy friend likes girl, girl likes popular guy, mean girls try to ruin her life, girl is friendly and smart, girl wants to be popular and forgets about her real friends, she realized her mistake and learns her lesson.

I love Barbie, I always have. My friend and I secretly play when we go to each other's houses. Honestly, I think most of the girls at school still play with dolls. But I dont think its right for little kids. For example, when I used to watch Lizzie when I was about 7, my Dad thought it was a good lesson for kids. Yes, but I was too young. Lizzie would say how "embarrassing" her parents were. I used to get mad at this. If the thought of my parents being embarassed ever crossed my mind, I would feel so guilty I couldnt stand it. I think until kids get older, they dont understand the movies/shows. Its too far over their heads. And they think of Barbie their role model, and copy her. If they copy these phrases, they will think its ok, and say mean stuff. They will say they hate people, and they want to be popular. Why does it matter? If you want to be popular, go do some acting and become famous. There. Your popular. Everybody at my school is popular. Why? BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS WHO YOU ARE. The pretty girls dont get much more attention than everybody else. Everybody knew me, and I was a goody 2 shoes smarty. And in High School, you dont have these problems. There are teen pregnancies and other things instead. This is more Middle School based.

I know my friend's little 4 year old sister has learned from her big sister stuff like "That's stupid." or "These toys are all mine and you cant have any." I notice when I go to family get togethers, when my cousins and I are talking, the younger cousins always repeat stuff we say. And not everything my cousins say is good.

All in all, the movie was good, but not for young kids.

  4. Honestly, I like ALL the Barbie movies. They are a little cheezy and have fun story lines that anyone can enjoy.

But this one is differnt. First of all, it has a GREAT soundtrack! I absolutely love the music. I'm 26 years old and would have the songs on my playlist and no one would ever know it was from a Barbie movie if they hadn't seen it.

This movie is geared toward older kids, but my younger kids love it as well. I also like the movie. Having to on occasion watch a movie 20 times in a row, having a movie you can enjoy can really help ease the pain of repetitive movies.

The story line is a lot better than some of the fantasy based ones. The dialog is fun and more mature.

    All in all, great movie!

  5. I have this movie and I really love it!It is about three girls Barbie,Courtney and Tia that are best friends. One day they go to the mall to find Barbie a outfit for her to go to the dance with her most wished date,Todd. And the salesman lady gives the three of them charm bracelets and Barbie's bracelet comes with a a magical diary. And that's how the whole stories starts it is so adorable!I could tell you the whole story but I think it's better for you to watch for yourself and find out.It is worth buying, trust me.

5 comments about Doodlebops: Get on the Bus.

  1. This is a great DVD with 4 episodes from the 2nd season. My daughter loves the doodlebops and asks to watch the bops all the time. She watches this DVD several times EVERY day! So we have definetly got our money out of this DVD. The 2nd season is way better than the first.

  2. If you have seen the tv series, then you know what it is about. The DVD comes with four episodes and some additional features. My 1.5 year old girl loves to watch the episodes over and over again. She sings with them, dances with them, finds a new element every time. I have to confess that I was not "attracted" to the Doodlebops the first time I saw them, but they grew on me. Especially after watching how thrilled my daughter is every time they are on! It has worked for us, but I have seen kids who could not care less for them, so go figure.

  3. My kids can watch this for about ten minutes before they wander off & lose interest. It's so commercial & fakey that it doesn't hold them. The characters don't really play their instruments and all the music and singing is canned so they can lipsynch to it (pretty badly). My kids go more for artists who actually play the instruments and don't rely on kitschy costumes & over-done choreography. They much prefer the Laurie Berkner Band or They Might Be Giants. Oh, well. It beats a lot of the other tripe that's out there for kids.

  4. My son is is a big fan of the painted trio, and loves this DVD as much as all the others.

  5. Brought this DVD for my three year old Daughter and she loves the item alot. This is mainly a good item for young children who enjoy music. Like the Wiggles the Doodlebops entertain the kids while learning at the same time.

5 comments about Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth.

  1. Have to say I love it. It's like a Disney World soundtrack. I only wish it had the parade music on it from their lights parade that they pump through the park during the parade and fireworks. I had my first baby not long ago so it will probably be years before I get to go back. This keeps the spirit alive. Some people are bummed they can't go out and party, or sleep through the night, or go on exotic vacations when they have kids... I'm homesick for Disney and this gives me a fix for now!

  2. I have several Disney CDs - but I would rate this as the best one! I love listening to songs. It makes me feel like I'm right at Disneyland! Just close your eyes and imagine!

  3. I loved this. Despite the fact that many of the songs and sounds were from rides that no longer exist, I can still actually imagine being there. I personally would have liked to hear more of the music from the rides themselves rather that music trying to depict the essence of the ride. But all in all very enjoyable.

  4. Being the die hard Disneyland fans that we are, this CD is perfect! My kids could listen to it over and over. Definitetly a must for those of us who want a little bit of Disneyland in our every day lives:)

  5. All the favorites on here. Both me, and my kids love it.

5 comments about Toot Toot!.

  1. We love the Wiggles show and we love this CD. It has a lot of the catchy favorites that children like. Great for the car.

  2. My kids are Wiggles fans--I like them, too. I wanted to buy a CD for us to listen to in the car and I assumed that the most liked DVD would be the CD I would buy, but when I reviewed the songs listed for the CD, I found that "Toot, Toot," had the best of all their songs on it. "Yummy, Yummy" was our favorite DVD, but the CD didn't have all the songs from the DVD--which was confusing. If you are buying only one CD of the Wiggles, this is the one!

  3. I am a grandmother of a 17 month old grand-daughter and thought the Wiggles Toot Toot was very good. It was educational also showing how you look both ways before crossing the street in the singing and dancing. All the Wiggles are always very colourful and lots of movement with the dancing. I recommend this DVD to anyone and really haven't come across any of the DVD's that weren't worth the money.

  4. My 2 year old grandson is a Wiggles fanatic. This sound track is identical to the DVD of the same name, which he has memorized. This way Wiggles can go with us in the car as he sings along verbatum.....yippee....great for kids...hard on parents. Enjoy.

  5. My daughter loves this CD. We listen to it over & over! Great for long car trips.

  1. He is so easy to listen to over and over and over as kids like to. My kids sing along and enjoy his versions.

  2. Great change from other kids CDs. This one is really fun to listen to, and doesn't make your ears bleed. Have been a Hap Palmer fan since I was his target market, and now it is fun to see my little girl enjoying it too. Only disappointment was the word change in the Elephant, but I had already taught my daughter the original lyrics. LOL.

  3. Love Hap Palmer. Bought this one to replace a lost one. My 22 month old & 5 year old both love it. They listen to it continually & never seem to tire of it. It's been requested a bit too much as I have found Hap singing in my head more than once!

  4. Due to being a preschool teacher I am very fimilar with Hap Palmer songs and have enjoyed doing them with all the young children. Because I have a few of his CD's, this one just adds a little more variation to the classics which makes it fun for the special little people in my life, my grandchildren.

    Also recommend; Dr. Jean

  5. We listen to this CD almost evry day while driving around in the car. My daughter loves singing the songs!!! They are all good. Well worth the money!!

5 comments about Kidsongs - A Day at the Circus.

  1. My 2 1/2 year old daughter really likes it. It's cute and the kids who act & sing in it are very good, but the sound quality is pretty poor in parts. Despite the audio problems, it was my daughter's favorite dvd for several weeks and she still goes back to it every few days. It was worth the purchase.

  2. My children loved this video when they were younger, I loved being able to get it again for my grandchildren, who also loved it.

  3. My 19 month (and 7 month) love this DVD. I love it because we actually all sit together and watch and sing, dance and laugh. Love the songs!!! some (most) of the footage is dated but I'm not complaining!! iT works for the babies so it works for me!!!!!!

  4. My 2 year old granddaughter just loves this video. She wants to watch it over and over.....I finally realized...she is learning the words to the songs and she sings right along. This is the 3rd Kidsong video she has and she truly loves each one. I would highly reccommend this and the rest of the Kidsong videos to anyone with small children. They are fast moving and keep the children interested.

  5. My kids love all the kidsong videos. This is the second copy of this video we have bought due to it has worn out with the third child. They love the circus animals, clown and songs.
