5 comments about Baby Einstein - Numbers Nursery.

  1. This has been a favorite of both my children. My 7-year old loved this video as a toddler and now my youngest enjoys it even more. My 22-month old loves to count with the number train and name the objects as they appear on the screen. Love that they use the same objects to show 1 item, then two, etc. it helps with counting and object recognition. We slowly started counting up to five with the video several months ago and are now starting to pass 10. Love the colors and consistency of the video. My son gets excited everytime he sees the tiger come on.

  2. excellent entertainment, espically when you need thirty minutes to get a few things done. my daughter loves all the baby einstein dvds.

  3. Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.

Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any TV during her early, crucial, developmental years. We only watch TV when our little girl is asleep.

  4. My little one absolutely loves this DVD and even asks for it by "growling" like the tiger on the front! It may surprise you that they only teach numbers up to 5, but as a former preschool teacher I believe it is very age appropriate. The DVD is not teaching them to just -count- to five, they are teaching the children how to recognize numbers up to five as well as recognize number sets (ie-when we see 4 things we don't have to count, we automatically know there are four things). I think it is wonderful, and had they gone on to teach 6-10 it not only would have been too long, but would have been overwhelming. I think it was very well made as does my 1 1/2 year old!

  5. I had heard good things about the Baby Einstein books and chose to give a couple of them for a 1st birthday present. Among all the toys the child received, these books stood out and everyone at the party oooohed and aaaahed. I was so happy when I got a "thumbs up" from the mother of the birthday boy. The experience of ordering on line from Amazon is the best. I give them a "thumbs up".

  1. I cannot really express how much my girls and I love this CD. We have listened to this music at least once a day for the past year or more. We dance to it, relax with it, rock together with it and just have it playing in the background sometimes. Truth be known...I like it as adult music too! I think it is charming and inspiring that Mitchell's young daughter and husband also sing and play instruments on the album as well. I cannot say enough great things about this album. It is calm, fun, sweet and beautiful all at once.

  2. Truly Amazing album, it really is perfect! Mitchell's voice is sooooo good, music is creative and upbeat, with a couple splashes of humor. Everything parents could hope for in a cool children's album and so much more!

  3. This is a great CD - some of the songs are so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes. My kids love it too. I just ordered another of her CDs (you are my sunshine) and I can't wait to listen to it with my kids on our commute.

  4. This is the perfect child's song CD!! My boys don't care for childhood music, but when I popped this CD in they quickly began singing. The songs are calm (compared to a lot of other children's music) and charming. Listen to the sound bites and you'll agree. The lyrics are simple and easy to repeat. You and your children will learn them quickly and request them at bed time.

  5. A friend introduced me to the children's recordings performed by Elizabeth Mitchell & family. Music has been a huge part of my life and is now my profession so what a joy to finally hear children's music that is a pleasure to listen to whether child or adult, musician or simply music lover. The arrangements are simple and the singing is relaxed. The best music to listen to is performed by a singer/performer who you can tell is enjoying what they are doing. Thank you for great music that I love and that is a great way for my baby to be introduced to music as well.

  1. I remember this inspirational program when I was a teenager. Marlo Thomas should be credited with being the first to instill in young people that they are free to be whatever, and whomever, they'd like to be.

  2. Great songs and funny skits from TV and comedy stars like Mel Brooks. Teaches kids good, progressive values using catchy, folky tunes even adults can enjoy.

  3. I have fond memories of this soundtrack from my childhood and it is still relevant today. I purchased it for my 4 year old - he isn't crazy about any of the songs but he LOVES track 2 with the babies. He has it memorized. He also likes the track about the boy who cries in front of the principal, and the track of the boy who wants a doll. I think the messages are subtle but they still get through.

  4. This CD was a little old for my son. He prefers more of the nursery rhymes. Good quality but just not for us.

  5. Bought this as a present for my 3 y.o. nephew. He loves it even though he hasn't seen the movie. Some of the songs don't make a lot of sense outside of the context of the movie but that doesn't seen to matter to him. It has become the no. 1 soundtrack in the family minivan.

2 comments about WordWorld: A Kooky Spooky Halloween.

  1. WordWorld is great, and the DVDs for my two-year-old are awesome. She says "Woof" when she wants to watch this DVD because Dog is so cute, and she spells along with the animated Build-A-Word sequences. The content is top-notch!

What I do have a very big problem with is the "Hopla" trailers that run automatically at the end of the WordWorld disks. It's pretty sneaky to piggy back another series for toddlers at the end of a series this good. It's just an unwelcome commercial, which I shouldn't have to deal with since I *bought* the DVD. I definitely DO NOT want my daughter to watch the inane Hopla series and would never buy it. Unfortunately, the jingle is permanently stuck in my head after hearing the first few seconds three or four times in the background before I could stop the DVD.

  2. This DVD is awesome. The great literacy lessons continue...and these are some of the cutest WW episodes we've ever seen. My kids love them, especially the "monster maker" music video at the end- so fun!
    Highly recommended!!

  1. We must have watched this so many times that I have it memorized. She learns how to sight read words while learning lessons and being entertained. What could be better?

  2. I have a two year old that just loves this show. It's done a great job teaching her the alphabet in an entertaining way, and isn't annoying like most kids TV these days. As for the DVD, it has a very appropriate run time for the price. You can't go wrong.

  3. This has been a great cartoon series for my 3 & 5 year olds to work on building words with the letters they already know. The characters are fun and I love the concept of using the words as the physical make-up of the body of whatever they're spelling. Great visual for kids.

Highly educational and even my 2 year old begs for Word World!

  4. My son loves letters and the alphabet. Well, he used to when he was two. Now he loves Care Bears. But back when he loved letters, we found this DVD series. We don't watch much tv or movies at home. But I was pregnant and feeling pretty agreeable to do anything that involved anyone else entertaining him that wasn't me. We found Word World and I have to admit not only did he learn how to spell some words and songs, but I was entertained too. I was especially pleased by how positive the series is. Highly recommend. Dog is our favorite character.

  5. All the Word World DVD's are amazing! My Kindergarten class loves to watch Word World! It is so educational and I catch them saying "Let's build a word" during class! I can't wait for the next Word World DVD to be released!

5 comments about Baby Einstein - Baby Da Vinci - From Head to Toe.

  1. My son will not watch this Baby Einstein dvd. He doesn't like the drawing aspect. On one instance-it was drawing a face-and let's just be honest...babies don't have the attention span to watch something like that.
He didn't last but about 2 minutes-and that was with me trying to be chatty about it while he watched. Not one of the best Baby Einstein dvd's.

  2. I rented this video from the library. My 6 week old, sat in the highchair intently and cued the whole time. My 2 year old who doesn't sit for even cartoons, sat the whole time. And my 7 year old sat through the whole thing. They love it! I would recommend this to anyone with children. Now, I'm not sure if they learned anything from it, but it sure did calm the baby down.

  3. Personally, this is one of the Baby Einsteins I enjoy the most. My 13-month-old loves it too. Great for pointing out the child's body parts and learning to name them.

  4. I got a large set of Baby Einstein DVDs when my daughter was born as a gift. I found it difficult to find ones that actually captured her interst. She's very active and doesn't like to sit still. Baby Da Vinci and Baby Van Gogh seem to do the trick.

  5. I got this for our 1 year old nephew for Christmas. He was really fussy that day and as soon as I put this on he calmed down and even fell asleep! Great addition to the Baby Einstein collection!

5 comments about Baby Einstein - Baby's First Moves.

  1. My daughter has been addicted to this video since she has been 4 months old. It is the only Baby Einstein DVD that she would watch from the beginning to the end without becoming distracted. To this day (she is almost 16 mo old) she will sit down and watch it and do the actions with the babies on the DVD. I think she likes this video because it uses babies throughout the DVD and not just puppets. I would recommend this DVD to any parent with a young baby. She learned to clap with the video and she reached with the video. It was neat to watch her try to interact with the kids. I would sit with her and watch it and encourage her to make the same movements.

  2. My daughter got this video at the age of 12 months.
She was, and still now at the age of two, still frighten of this video. Everytime i put it on she runs out the room and starts crying. If i even say "Baby's First Moves" she starts saying "No" and leaves the room. I cannot find a reason why she isn't in love with this particular video. I am a collector of Baby Einstein and my daughter has been watching it since she was 3 months. This is the only video she does not like to watch. She can not wait for Einstein Pals to come out. Hopefully, this will be a hit.

  3. It took a bit longer for my daughter to appreciate this particular video -- about 6 months. When she started to become more interested in other people and babies she loved this one. She really enjoys watching the other babies in the program. I would recommend this one for a baby that has shown an interest in watching others.

  4. The very first Baby Einsteins were the best. This is pre-Disney. Now that Disney owns the rights, there has been alot of computer graphics and over stimulation that the original movies did not have. I will not be buying any more of these because of repetition and because they are losing the quality that made them great.

  5. My daughter is pretty young but she sure loves this DVD. She enjoys it too much. We plan to use baby signs in a near future and I know this has been helpful

  1. One of our all time favorire CDs! Had to find it after doing "The Freeze" in some kiddie classes...

  2. Excellent CD to use for music and movement time in a prek classroom. The children love it!

  3. A must have if you teach creative movement. Very useful in the classroom or at home with your own children.

  4. The sounds are a bit dated, but my 21 month old loved dancing to this cd.

  5. My preschool class and my preschool age son LOVE this cd. We listen to it all the time. It's especially great to get the kids moving when the weather is bad and we can't go outside, or we need to get some wiggles out during the day. We all love Animal Action, The Count Bounce, the Balancing Act, and the Freeze most especially. To cool down at the end we will lay down and listen to the color poem. It was well worth the money I paid! I definitely recommend this one!

5 comments about Thomas & Friends: Thomas and the Toy Workshop (Full).

  1. My son likes Thomas and he has run it quite a few times in weeks of purchase to make it worth the money.

  2. This family can't seem to get enough of Thomas the Tank Engine. We love all the videos, and this one does not let us down. Definetly recommend it.

  3. My son loved this video. He has several other Thomas videos and enjoys them all. I would buy it if your child likes Thomas products.

  4. My kids alwasy enjoy Thomas videos - a few they had seen before - but some they hadn't. A fun addition to a holida collection.

  5. As all things that I got for Amazon this year, the products were delivered fast and in good condition. This one DVD is an example of what is right in America and how to avoid traffic, crowds and the snow.

5 comments about Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2.

  1. My daughter really enjoys listening to these relaxing cd's while she's falling asleep. These cd's are great!

  2. This CD is one of my top baby items. My son is 10 months old and we've been using it as part of our bedtime routine pretty much since he came home. As soon as he hears the CD he knows it's time for bed. One night I tried a different CD and my he wouldn't go to sleep! I highly recommend this CD or any of the Rockabye Baby collection.

  3. I heard the Rockabye Baby CD of ColdPlay at a store recently and loved it. I bought the U2 CD because I love U2 and thought I'd like it even more than the ColdPlay one. It sounds all the same and the music is very "tinkly". I would not suggest it.

  4. I bought this CD for my eight month old twins. Even if they are just cranky, just putting on this CD calms them down. A great investment to help the little ones get to sleep/relax. I listened to this CD before playing it for my kids, and almost fell asleep myself. A must have for all parents of babies/infants.

  5. Love it! And I think it sounds just like U2. They are my favorite band. My son loves it too!
