5 comments about Sesame Street - Bert & Ernie's Word Play.

  1. This is fairly good for a child just introduced to phonics and letter blending. It uses the blended letter sounds, as well as taking away a letter and adding a different letter in order to make a new word. We have only watched it once thus far; so, my review is not the greatest, sorry. BTW - I loved Sesame Street as a child and now my 5-year-old loves it also:-)

  2. My 20 mth. old LOVES this whole video - but there is this segment where these 3 bald muppets, and this one awesome hairy muppet do a song... "cat, fat, hat, mat!!" I don't think I've EVER heard my son laugh so hard!! We replay it for him like 4 times in a row before we continue on. As all the Sesame products, this one is well done and has its special wonderful memorable moments. I like it too!

  3. We own quite a few DVDs, my son loves this one and the Elmo 123 count with me. Both are truly fantastic. He can watch it every day and he laughs even, he is only 9 months.

  4. This DVD is often amusing, but completely unsuitable for children learning to read. Words are all but incomprehensible in many of the songs, and some charaters don't articulate the words as well as you would expect (don't get me started on Elmo). It's also too long.

  5. We've owned this DVD for about a year now and for some reason, my 2 year old twins have never been and still are not interested in it. They LOVE Ernie & Bert, but it just doesn't hold their interest. Still, we keep trying to reintroduce it. Perhaps it is specific to them, but they do absolutely love "Learning About Letters" and "The Best of Elmo". I would check those out if you are looking for excellent Sesame Street videos. Both of them have a lot of songs, which holds the interest of most toddlers. Perhaps my girls will love the Word Play video in 6 months or a year. We'll keep trying, but it just isn't a hit, for some reason. It is the only video we own that they have no interest in. That being said, Sesame Street is one of the best programs for little ones, so you might want to still give it a try. Looks like it is a hit with a lot of others out there.

5 comments about In The Marvelous Musical Mansion.

  1. The plot is entertaining and musically educational. It truly captures and holds the attention of both preschool and elementary school age children. I have watched many Wee Sing titles with my children and grandchildren over the years, and I believe "The Marvelous Musical Mansion" is one of Wee Sings best!

  2. purchased for granddaughter, had purchased several years earlier for own children. Good clean DVD with lots of childrens songs and skits well worth it for anyone

  3. I think all of the Wee sing products are AWESOME! I grew up on the and now my kids can to since they have come to DVD. I ruined the VHS by watching them to much as a kid! Buy them for your kids you won't regret it. As an adult I still love them and could watch them all day long over Dora or Backyardigans! ENJOY!!!

  4. I remember watching these videos when I was a child, and I hope my children will enjoy them just as much as I did. Especially Big Rock Candy Mountain and Wee Sing In Sillyville. I never knew what these movies were called when I was younger so being able to find it today and remember what they were just by looking at it..brought back tons of wonderful memories.Especially since I go around and ask people if they remember "little bunny foo foo." Now I finally know what movie I was reffering too. :]

  5. I'm extremely happy that I purchased Wee Sing's "The Marvelous Musical Mansion". I remember being in elementary school and watching this movie in my music class. Although I was young, I remembered how much I loved the movie and all the unique things in it. Now that I'm older, I can remember how much joy and excitement it brought me to see everything from small music toys magically coming to life, to the musical steps in Uncle Rubato's colorful, one-of-a-kind musical mansion. I highly recommend this movie to parents. I'm sure your child will love this along with many other movies in the "Wee Sing" collection for children. It will truly give them timeless memories.

5 comments about My Baby Can Talk - Exploring Signs.

  1. I purchased a few of these DVD's for my twins. My son hardly speaks but signs pretty fluently with the aid of these DVDs and despite knowing all the signs on them, he still enjoys them. My daughter, who does speak very well for her age enjoys them as well.

  2. We started off with 'First Signs' and since my son loves that DVD so much we decided to move on to the others in the series. The first one is still his favorite for some reason but this one is just as good. My husband and I are enjoying learning to sign along with him. (he is only 10 months so it is more for us at this point!)

  3. My daughter love it very much~ she watch the dvd at least twice a day

  4. This video is captivating, effective and fun! Exploring Signs has been instrumental in helping my daughter learn, speak and sign various animals, colors and outside elements. My 2 year old have been exposed to the `My Baby Can Talk' series since she was 9 months. Not only has the videos helped her learn to sign basic needs and wants, but her exposure has assisted her in learning how to clearly annunciate and pronounce words and has helped increase her vocabulary at an early age. I recommend all three videos for your child's learning library!

  5. I read all the reviews before buying and couldn't tell if we would like it. What I was really disappointed about is that the person doing the signs is not saying the words. We have another sign video (Talking Hands) that the person signing is the one speaking the words so my toddler can see also how to say the words. We started watching this video when he was 1 year old and I noticed immediate progress with his signing AND talking and I attribute it to him being able to see them say the words too.

To me this video is more like a baby einstein video where it just runs through lots of pictures and sounds but I don't see that this is a valuable signing video. I would probably not reccomend this.

5 comments about Veggie Tales: Madame Blueberry/Esther the Girl Who Would Be Queen.

  1. Stuff Mart is a wonderland full of everything anyone could ever want... or is it? Madame Blueberry learns that a thankful heart cannot be bought at Stuff Mart. Being thankful to God for all you have and not coveting that which you don't is a very important lesson for children to learn in these days. Veggie tales does it in a fun musical fashion that even my husband and I love. You will find yourself singing A thankful heart is a happy heart all day though!

  2. We watched these when they first came out. We still call big box stores 'stuff mart' and it helps us keep perspective as we shop! These videos have great messages for kids and for parents.

  3. VEGGIE TALES ARE GREAT FOR ALL AGES. MY GRANDCHILDREN STARTED TO WATCH THEM WHEN THEY WERE 3 AND THEY CONTINUE TO WATCH THEM AT 6-8-10. I AM CURRENTLY REPLACING THE TAPES WITH DVD'S. NO MATTER WHAT AGE THEY ARE YOUR CHILDREN WILL ENJOY THEM. ESPECIALLY MADAM BLUE BERRY AND THE RUMOR WEED, THEY ARE TWO OF OUR FAVORITES, AMONG THE OTHER 20 WE HAVE.

  4. Two of our favorites on one DVD. What a find! You'll love watching Madame Blueberry storming the new "Stuff Mart" and even cringe a little as she piles cart after cart with "stuff" she doesn't need. And "Esther", besides being witty and funny, is also aesthetically pleasing. I got to know Bob & Larry through my grandson as we watched Veggietale marathons together. There is so much subtle humor in these witty animated productions. I think I laugh more than he does. I encourage anyone who hasn't discovered these winsome, thoughtful, timeless productions to sit down and enjoy them with their kids & grandkids. The Christian values are intrinsic & universal - never preachy - thoughtful but never heavy.

  5. Updating my Veggie Collection. Great you can get two for the price of one and less space. These DVD's teach the little girls and boys that God will put you in the places he wants them to be and also not to want everything there is in the world.

3 comments about Sing Yoursel Silly/Elmo's Musical Adventure.

  1. I bought these videos for my 20 month old granddaughter. Although she's very young and can easily be distracted, she sat still through the entire showing of "Peter and the Wolf" where Elmo was the star. She adores Elmo and his friends and Sing Yourself Silly gets her on her feet and dancing. She wants everyone to dance with her. Good fun for everyone!! This product was well worth the small investment!

  2. so many classics are on here...honestly, we haven't seen the elmo story cd yet - but the SING YOURSELF SILLY is very entertaining...and brings back many memories...it's nice to share this with our child.

  3. These are both great DVDs. It's a bargain.

Silly Songs is a fun collection with many gems. The extended Put down the Ducky is the big closer but the whole DVD is mostly A grade with maybe one A- and one B- among selections. (no grade inflation)

Elmo's adventure is Peter & the Woolf at the Boston Pops within a story about music & cooperation. Hats off to the crew for making the cooperative points gently without getting in the way of the story. There's huge depth to this. My daughter followed the story before age 2, but there should be things for much older children to find & enjoy. It's a treat to see real musicians & instruments are featured.

5 comments about Baby Nick Jr. Curious Buddies - Let's Move.

  1. Its a hit in our house! The songs are great and modernized, the visuals are easy going and fun, and the yoga...jeez...could you get any cooler? My 16 month old girl has a good time whenever its on and the songs have a tendency to stick in mom's head. Good stuff!!

  2. This is a great kids' exercise video. My daughter STILL loves it and she's almost 5. A bunch of people (and puppets) in this thing are affiliated with "Jack's Big Music Show", so it's got a similar vibe, but is made for littler kids. It's fast-paced and fun and one of the few videos we have that I've also bought for friend's kids.

  3. My son loves this movie, first saw it when he was about 15 months old and he caught on to the yoga in it. Does the downward dog often. Also has nice bright colors and catchy music. Fun for parents too.

  4. My 3 year old daughter loves this video. She asks me to put it on daily and then does all of the moves with the video. She stretches and dances and moves and laughs. She is very good at doing the simple yoga poses, too. It makes me feel good to let her view a dvd with so much interaction. It is so much better than the ones that she just sits and watches.

  5. My one and two year old daughters watch this movie over and over. They have learned new yoga moves and like to dance along with the children in the movie. I would like to purchase other Curious Buddies movies!! Excellent movie!!

5 comments about Thomas and Friends: Calling All Engines!.

  1. This is an awesome story that will keep children entertained, and has a good message about cooperation. Despite the length, it is fast paced and moves well - keeping children interested.

  2. My grandchildren love the Thomas the Tank Engine videos. We purchased some for them for Christmas, but did not have any to keep at our house for their visits. My four year old grandson specifically requested "Calling All Engines" and the only place we could find it was on Amazon. It has become one of their favorite ones. This morning they came to visit and the first words from our two year old grand-daughter was "THOMAS!!!!" So we watched it again. They never get tired of it and neither do the grandparents (and that is saying a lot).

  3. We love Thomas here. The feature the newer DVD's are coming out with are great, being able to set it up to play over and over is great for those busy toddlers who want the movie to play and watch.

  4. I love the old Thomas, back in the days of Ringo Starr and George Carlin, but ever since Alex Baldwin came on the scene, the Thomas shows seem to sink lower and lower. Gone are the days when I could let my kids watch the shows without my having to view them first. And in addition to having more questionable content (see below), the shows are much more twaddle than they used to be. Older Thomas shows don't beat the kids over the head with the moral like these new ones seem to. And the stories in the older Thomas shows just seemed better.

This particular escapade has dramatic tension, and a good message about working together to accomplish good things, but the engines now use expletives -- okay, not grown-up expletives, but things like "Cinders and Ashes!" which my children started using as expletives. (They hadn't used expletives before, other than "Bother!") The engines call each other names ("Stinky Steamies" for example), and, again, my children started calling each other "stinky" for awhile. We hadn't had name-calling problems before the movie. Now, I realize that most kids are exposed to much worse, but I draw attention to this because the older Thomas episodes didn't have any of this going on. Three-year olds could watch with impunity! ;-> But for those who care about this kind of thing, be warned.

The older Thomas episodes are so much more wholesome, just stick with them!

  5. Child likes this very much. This DVD contains many trains.

5 comments about Child's Gift of Lullabyes.

  1. I had received a baby gift of a "Childs Gift of Lullabies" for my older son who is now 7. He still falls asleep to it every night. For my younger son I got "The Rock-a-bye Baby Collection" because I loved the first version so much. I am not sure which album I like better. The music is so soothing- and seems to almost lull them to sleep. (Rather, since they are active little boys, it "calms the savage beast".) Actually, when I am having a tough time falling asleep, I confiscate one of their CD's and play it. It helps my mind to relax- and normally I am one of those people that needs total silence to fall asleep. I give these as gifts to every Mom-to-Be that I know, and they always appreciate it.

  2. My daughter is in the third grade, nine years old. The only time she does NOT listen to this cd is when we are camping. She has gone to sleep with these amazing lullabyes since she was born. I have to buy a new one as it is starting to skip!

  3. This has been a family favorite since it came out. The songs are so sweet and so singable. I love giving this for a baby or shower gift. Now that my friends are expecting grandchildren, they are getting them, too!

  4. I guarantee that these beautiful soothing lullabyes will ease even the fussiest of babies to sleep. I particularly like that there are instrumental versions of each of the songs, so that you can add your own voice to these night time melodies. My sixteen year old daughter still smiles when we bring this out to listen to them. These songs are a part of her and her infant years. I know someday in the future she will be singing these to her babies as well. Wonderful for your baby and perfect as a gift!

  5. i love this set of lullabyes. i bought it 15 years ago when i was pregnant with my first baby. i have tried others through the years but not one of them was nearly as good as this one. i just recently had my 5th baby and after my fourth i gave the disk i had to my sister since she was having her first. so i ordered a new one for my little one and was sent down memory lane. the memories that came flooding back as each note played on broke and swelled my heart at the same time. i had forgotten how important these songs were not just for the moment but forever. i will not be giving this one away! my 4 and 7 year old have also fallen in love with the songs and now we listen or sing them every night at bed time. making memories
