5 comments about Nora's Room.

  1. I originally got this CD 8 years ago when my daughter was 18 months and she loved it and I really liked it too, but we lost it so when I asked her if she remembers having it she jumped up and screamed "Yeah, please get it again!". She was 3 when we lost it! I couldn't believe she remembered it and even remembered the lyrics.
The great thing about it is that we all can sing along and the adults like it just as much as the kids (my husband might not agree with that statement ;-) )

  2. We have been listening to Jessica Harper albums from the library for years now, and finally have gotten our own. She sings about things that both children and the people who love them understand, and sounds so catchy, upbeat, and danceable!

  3. great seller

everything came on time-- sooner than expected

    thank you

  4. Fabulously fun lyrics and crazy music to jump, dance, crash-bang-boom, and get happy with. I can't stop recommending this cd to friends. The music just gets better as you listen over (and over and over) again.

  5. This is a fantastic CD that the whole family will enjoy. The music has a great rhythm (something Jessica Harper excells at) and the lyrics are very entertaining. You will find yourself trying to sing along or dance along before the end of the very first song!

5 comments about The Happiest Toddler on the Block Video.

  1. We have active twin boys and we can't stress how helpful the techniques were in The Happiest Toddler on the Block DVD; Dr. Karp has done it again! I can't say that I am perfect all the time, but I can say that when we do use the techniques and express to the boys that we truly and SINCERELY understand their feelings, they listen. Not only that, but they treat us and others with respect. Acting out/tantrums are definitely minimized too.

  2. I had seen Dr. Harper's "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and found it extremely helpful in dealing with newborns to help them calm down when crying and to sleep better. All his suggestions and techniques I found to be very effective. With "The Happiest Toddler on the Block", Dr. Harper is also very good in giving ideas to deal with toddlers who are having problems communicating their feelings and desires and do so throwing tantrums. Dr. Harper offers very helpful techniques to understand the little ones and help them be happier by having the adults around them respond in manners that are more appropriate to their developmental level. I haven't yet tried the techniques but I sent a copy to my son who has a two year old daughter. I'm waiting to hear from him to see what he thinks. The parents who participated in both videos appeared to have learned the techniques and found them very helpful.

  3. I purchased this for my daughter. Her baby is one yr. old and already showing signs of temper tantrums. We watched it together and I was amazed that no one thought of this method before. It's just plain common sense. It's basically a baby version of the Faber/Mazlish "Talk/Listen" book that was our bible. Thanks for offering this.

  4. My husband and I got the book first and decided to get the dvd to make sure we were doing the techniques right. All I can say is, the toddlerese just fuels our little one's fire and makes the tantrums even worse than they were to start with. We have what Dr. Karp calls a "spirited" toddler and these methods just plain didn't work. I really wish they would - the only thing we can get to work so far with our 2 1/4 year old is to ignore the tantrum and let her calm down before trying to communicate any further with her. Also, our daughter communicates with us much above the level that Dr. Karp indicates in his book - even when she is in a rage of tantrum, maybe that's why this doesn't work for her - who knows. Best wishes to all those that do try this though. I guess it must work for some people!

UPDATE: We have found that the underlying methods in this do work with our toddler, but we had to modify how we used it. For instance, our toddler doesn't appreciate the toddlerese, but the fast food method definitely works and with a little further guidance from Dr. Karp it has made some difference in our toddler's tantrums and behavior. Definitely try different approaches with the ideas from this method in mind if you don't find it working.

  5. Not as good as the book b/c it doesn't explain the philosophy behind the method. But it is nice that they get right to the point. My husband who did not read the book, thought the tactic was silly and got angry that the dr. wants you to talk to your kids like cavemen. He understood after I explained that you don't talk to them like that all the time, just when they are upset. But at least he can get the information without picking up a book (that will be the day!).

5 comments about Sing Christmas.

  1. I'm a huge fan of Broadway Kids. Own all their CDs (except for those I reluctantly gave away to little kids in my family). Wish I'd listened to each selection first. I miss the true, unvarnished sweetness of childrens' voices--it's not on this CD. Too much hamming it up with favorite traditional songs... a No-No! Maybe 4 year olds love it but past recordings could be enjoyed by all. I couldn't wait to hear (from Home Alone), Somewhere In My Memory, by Erin and Michael. In her profile pix, Erin looks like an adult (certainly a teen...) Why is she imitating (I guess?) a 4-year-old when she sings this lovely song? So grating... I'll bet she has a lovely voice had she been able to use it. I know the kids were just taking direction, but what a shame. The Twelve Days of Christmas? I can't even listen to it... the really bad French accents? Whose bad idea was THAT? Sorry to pan the Broadway kids, whom I've loved a long time. If I'd used the "Listen" option on Amazon, I'd passed this one up.

  2. The very telented B'Way Bids sing with energy and enthusiasm that kids can relate to. Our three boys, now 8, 5 and 2, listen to it over and over. My 8-year-old once brought the CD into school for music share day, my 5-year-old loves the comical rendition of "12 days of Christmas" and my 2-year-old calls out requests by number (ie: "number nine" for Jingle Bells). Best non-traditional song is "Earth and Sky" with its catchy melody, soothing flute and thoughtful message. The only questionable song is the one sung by Kathy Lee Gifford. She's no Broadway Kid!

  3. Where do I start? I gave it 1 star because there wasn't a negative star rating. These are without a doubt the most self-indulgent and just downright sickening song arrangements you could possibly imagine. Don't buy this if you like any of these songs because they don't sound anything like the originals. In a sloppy and irritatingly overdone way, the Broadway Kids try to modernize these oldtime Christmas favorites and end up butchering them beyond recognition. Without a doubt the worst Christmas CD I have ever heard.

  4. Each year we purchase a new Christmas album. We bought The Broadway Kids Sing Christmas last year. We loved it so much that we wore the tape out! The kids that sing on this album are very talented and are very much a joy to listen to. They are full of energy and make you feel as though you are there with them. I highly recommend this recording to everyone.

  5. Ok let's get the negative stuff out of the way first...some songs are a little corny, especially the rap song...but they kids are amazing!!!! Amy's solo is fantastic! Gosh can she belt out a tune!!!! Travis is soooo fab in I Saw Mommy...!!!! GET THIS CD!!!!

5 comments about Baby See N Sign Vol 2.

  1. I borrowed this dvd from the library first and after viewing with my children decided we needed our own copy. I like the fact that the teacher is a native signer having signed from an early age with her parents and she also teaches sign as her profession. I also like the repetion of each sign three times very helpful for both parents and children - especially the slowed down version.

  2. I got this for our 5-month old, who is now 17 months old. In the beginning, I left it on as background noise. One day, my son said "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapple." He definitely picked that up from is dvd. He knew how to identify many objects because of the dvd. We have volume 1 too and at 17-months old, he's mastered 90% of the signs in vol. 1 and about 50% of the signs in vol. 2. He selects what he likes to identify and learns the signs and words. In our case, signing definitely helped him start speaking early rather than delaying his speech development.

  3. I purchased this for my 15 month old daughter who has been really enthusiastically watching and learning Baby Babble and My Baby Can Talk dvds from age 7 months. From the positive reviews I expected this to be very good. If you like a much faster pace with loads of content, this is for you. My daughter lost interest very quickly. I managed to watch the entire dvd and throughout felt quite nauseas from watching the quick changing scenes. The effects of repeatedly "flipping pages" was in my opinion, the cause. To me, this production is like reading a book (without breathing) filled with pages of continuous black text, with little or no thought for layout. I would not recommend this to my friends but will recommend the SIGNING TIME series. It's content may not be as full as the Baby See N Sign but it is definitely a more effective way of teaching making learning easy and fun. Also, the technique, production quality, songs and relevance cannot be beaten.

  4. I'm the mother of a 6 month old. We just received our Baby See 'N Sign DVDs Volumes I & II. Not only is the menu very user-friendly, but between the 2 volumes they cover over 200 signs! The signs are repeated 3 times (once in slow-motion) for slow learners like me! The set is loaded with objects, sounds and picture after picture of little ones! These DVDs cover more signs than any others I have looked at. I really like how the signs are presented, not just for me, but for my baby too. She is captured by the sights and sounds and signs! I can't wait till she starts signing with me! I can tell she is learning as she watches!

  5. This DVD, although filled with good information, seems like it was copied from VHS and not encoded specifically for DVD. By that I mean that there is no menu to choose from so if you want to see only a few of the signs (There are a ton of them) you have no choice but to either fast forward or wait it out. Not nearly as entertaining as others we have but as I mentioned, there are alot of useful signs.

3 comments about Winnie the Pooh: Tigger-Ific Tales (Clam).

  1. My 2 year old son loves Pooh, and watches these videos over and over, so I've become familiar with all of them in detail.

I just love Tigger, so when I saw this title, I snatched it up, eager to share it with my son. Now, he loved it, so I would still recommend you buy this one. Just don't make it a priority. I, on the other hand, was sadly disappointed with it.

"All's Well That End's Well" was terrible. If that was the only story I'd seen with Tigger in it, I would never allow my son to watch Tigger at all. It is only because I love him so much in all the other stories that I put up with it. Tigger is not likable in this one. He's whiny, selfish, greedy, and annoying. It's best just to fast forward through it.

"Stripes" was by far the best story on the tape, and makes it worth buying. It was a clever little tale, with a nice song and a real message - it's what's inside you that counts.

"Luck Amok" is okay. It's not the best Pooh/Tigger story I've seen in these "new" videos, but it's enjoyable enough.

All in all, this video is worth buying. Your kids will love it, even if the first story sends you, groaning, from the room..

  2. For the most part, the half-hour TV versions of Winnie-the-Pooh leave a lot to be desired for fans of the bear of little brain. Sparks of the characterization and warmth evident in the original movie show occasionally. Sure, they're worth viewing, but often leave you wanting more.

"Stripes," however, is one of the best televised efforts. There's a familiar, simple, underlying message; a new (albeit not fully realized) song; and an actual story arc. This is one that will entertain and teach children, and manages also to not nauseate adults longing for the "classic" Pooh bear.

  3. I didn't like this movie because there's too much western style in it. Plus, Pooh is not pretty enough!

5 comments about The Lion King Disney Read-Along.

  1. Please do not buy this movie, it is anti-american and perpetuates a state where only the elite are well off and lower classes are discriminated agains.

    1. The hyenas far outnumber the lions. Even though they wanted Scar as the 'president,' the only rightful rulers were from an elitist bloodline. Once Simba comes back, he throws Scar to his death, reminicent of the struggles of the persian Sultans of the 1600's. I do not want my children to learn such things.

    2. There were two characters that could be identified as 'black' one of the hyenas, portrayed as low class, filthy and illeterate being. We are forced to hate this character and to chear at their misfortune. Also, you have the baboon, an outcast of society, just left alone to his own non-mainstream (white-society) world view. This shows unabridged bigotry.

    4. The evil that is Disney. To try to create an artificial demand for their products Disney only does limited time releases of their movies before they go into the "vault". This way Disney forces your hand into buying their DVD's for fear of never having another chance to buy them again. If you think that is symbolic of a fair market then great, but I know that this ploy is not in place to help out consumers, it is there to squeeze out money from the little guys. Those who want it after it's in they 'vault' are forced into an unriliable and unsafe secondary market.

    3. False advertising. Disney advertise a great new song for the DVD release. What they provided us with absolute garbage plain and simple.

  2. I ordered Lion King from Guilov and never received it. Of course they took my money. After repeated attempts to get them to send me Lion King they never did. This company shuld not be in business and shame on Amazon.com for associating with them. Do not order anything from these guys because you are likely to lose your money.

  3. i grew up listening to The Lion King soundtrack. watching the movie reminds me of how i used to sing along with Simba in "i can't wait to be king" with the biggest smile across my face (i still do). that was more than 10 years ago. now i'm almost in college and i still LOVE this movie...one of my favorites ever.

i don't know how anyone could possibly NOT like this. it's the best Disney has ever done. amazing plot/theme with touching scenes (you have no idea how much i cried haha), awesome characters, and wonderful music.

A true classic. Two thumbs up!

  4. i can't never find it in the PX. i love the movie and thought i should share it with my son.

  5. I am not able to review because I have not received it and no one is answering my e-mails at the supplier.

  1. This is a great kids' music video with sign language and other interactive parts (movements and sounds to repeat). Unlike most music for kids, this won't grate on an adult's nerves or get stuck in the head too badly. The music is enjoyable and the themes of being kind to others and of world citizenship are excellent but not overstated. The performance is fun, even after seeing it more than 20 times.
