5 comments about Pop Fly.

  1. They just get better and better! Not only wonderful for the kids but the adults love it also. Thanks again for another great album. Opps I dated myself by saying album.....

  2. I can't say enough good things about Justin Robert's CD, Pop Fly. My kids (ages 2 and 4) LOVE it. We listen to it in the car and at home all of the time. I love it, because it doesn't get tiresome and annoying (like most kid's music).
Pop Fly is a great song (and it perfectly describes the feeling of standing below that Pop fly!). Henrietta's Hair is very funny. Stay at home dad is a great song, too. Giant-Sized Butterflies talks about how you feel on the first day of school (I wish I had a song like that to listen to on my first day of school).
You won't regret buying this CD!

  3. To all the parents, I like to call Justin Roberts the Bare Naked Ladies of children's music. I enjoy listening to it almost as much as my son. We had the pleasure of seeing Justin Roberts, et al, perform the week Pop Fly was released. We picked up the CD at the show and listened to it on the way home. This is the only CD that my son asks for by name and, having seen the songs performed live, does all of the associated hand gestures ("She's a Yellow Reflector"). To me, it's a must buy!!

  4. Count me among those adults who keep listening to this after dropping off the kids. The tunes are irresistably catchy, and the lyrics are funny and, at times, tender and sweet. Everyone in my house --including kids 2.5 and 5 -- simply adores this CD! We've each got our favorite: the littlest composed her own interpretive dance to "Pop Fly," my 5 year old loves "Kickboard Baby," and my husband is partial to "Henrietta's Hair." And I'll admit to getting choked up while listening to "Giant Sized Butterflies," a very tender song about the first day of school. But there is not a single song on this CD that I don't love listening to.

I've only discovered Justin Roberts in the last couple of months, but I'm hooked. This is everything kids music should be: great tunes, relevant themes, funny and thoughtful lyrics, musically outstanding.

  5. I have heard the future of children's music and it is Justin Roberts.

As the father of an eight-year old girl and a six-year old boy, it's a challenge to find something they'll enjoy listening to that doesn't make me physically ill. When I was their age, I was listening to my brother's Beatles 45's. In the seventies and eighties I discovered Elvis Costello, Squeeze and REM--intelligent lyrics wrapped around glorious melodies.

Enter 45-year old father of two. The music of Justin Roberts and his Not Ready for Naptime Players respects all three of us. While I thoroughly enjoy all of Robert's albums, "Pop Fly" is his finest to date. It is the "Sgt. Pepper's" of children's albums.

Lyrically, Roberts takes my children to places where challenges must be faced--to the outfield, on a field trip or to a first day at school. But he also takes them to places of simplistic beauty--grandma's kitchen or their own backyard.

Musically, Roberts hits a strong sixties vibe on this one. There is the Beatle-esque lilting on "Pop Fly," the Dylan-esque tangles of "Henrietta's Hair," the Memphis Horns on "She's a Yellow Reflector," and the Beach Boy harmonies on "Kickboard, Baby, Yea." Each track is perfectly crafted.

On the last cut, "Fruit Jar," Roberts rolls out what may be the most beautiful song of the year. It's a gentle, almost prayer-like wish for a child to find perfect love in an imperfect world. Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris would have loved this one--though I doubt they could have done it better.

But the real test for "Pop Fly" comes AFTER I drop the kids off at school. Rather than switching over to my own music, I keep listening all the way to work. Yep, it's that good. You--and your kids--will love this one.

5 comments about Learning Basic Skills Through Music Vol. 1.

  1. My mom was a PE teacher with a focus in early child hood sooo, my sister and I grew up with Hap Palmer. Now it is so much fun to see my little girl beg to here the Elephant and see her starting to do the trunk movement. I will definately be looking for Hap's singing multiplication tables for DD when it comes time.

  2. I purchased this product for my Kindergarten Students. This CD was originally made in 1969. You can certainly tell that this compilation is over 30 years old; many of the songs are dull and would be unappealing to today's youngsters. Still, there are a couple of really catchy action songs that are great fun. One involves colours and listening skills and the other involves actions. I am so glad I bought it. My students love the "Colour" song and so do I.

  3. Thanks for the speedy service. As a preschool music teacher this product is a great choice!

  4. I used this with my own children, and when I was a school teacher, and now I'm buying it for grandchildren. The songs are lively, cheerful, and easy to follow. They create a happy learning atmosphere, and the kids have a lot of fun with it,too. It's also wonderful in the car. I consider it a classic, and a wonderful addition to the development of any child.

  5. Good CD for the young to sing and do the actions. I used this often in early kindergarten classes.

5 comments about The Adventures of Pete & Pete - Season 1.

  1. this show is just as good as i remember! a perfect example of what being a kid in the 90's was like.

  2. Thank you so much! I loved this show when I was younger and now that I have a copy of the first season, life is a little bit more enjoyable, haha. Great condition.

  3. I am happy again thanks to Pete and Pete. I loved this show. my wife and I practically met watching this show. You can say Pete and Pete brought us together and showed us they way of true love.IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TRUE LOVE SEARCH NO FURTHER FOR YOU HAVE FOUND IT. Good wholesome entertainment.

  4. This show was so awesome, it showed real looking people, not just the beautiful people, doing the things that every kid wanted to do. Awesome background music and some of the best t.v. I've ever seen to this day. If you ever watched this show you know how good it is and this collection contains some of the best episodes of the whole show (if you ask me they were all equally as good).

This is a show for the whole family both the kids and adults, you never have to worry about it containing things that are too racey and it never gets boring, repetitive, and annoying like most childrens shows. Do yourself a favor and pick up this awesomely hysterical show on DVD.

  5. I love that Nickelodeon has released seasons 1 & 2 of "Pete and Pete." Now I just wish they'd release season 3! These DVDs are great and every few months I bring them out and watch all the episodes.

5 comments about Once Upon a Potty for Him DVD.

  1. I didn't like the DVD, the book is much better and I thought it was expensive for what was offered. My son who is 3 years old, didn't really like the DVD either.

  2. My 2 year old son LOVES this DVD! It has been a tremendous tool in helping with potty training. He sits on his potty in front of the T.V. and watches. It has really helped him with the whole process!

  3. This is an excellent video for explaining body part. My son now realize where poo poo come out and now has fewer accident

  4. If you can only afford one product, get the book. If you can afford both, this is a nice support piece.

  5. I had heard great things about this dvd, but after watching it, I'm not thrilled with it and neither is my son. He enjoyed Elmo's Potty Time much more. I'm not sure what I expected, but a bunch of babies sitting on potties wasn't it!

5 comments about Classic Nursery Rhymes.

  1. We got this as a gift when our daughter was born and she absolutely LOVES this album. Susie Tallman has a lovely voice and she brings a lot of originality to this collection of nursery rhymes. We listen to it all the time and as a adult, I actually enjoy it. Some other review compained about that it was non-traditional, but that's exactly why we love it. The songs & rhymes are distinct and fun and my daughter (9 months)laughs at the silly voices. We bought several more of her albums and also really like Children's Songs and Lullaby Themes.

  2. I must start by saying that I disagree with T. Carlsen's review of this CD. Every nursery rhyme included is indeed a classic. However, they are not done in a very traditional style, which must be what T. Carlsen means. That being said, in my opinion this CD's strength is that it's NOT the same as every other kids' CD out there. Tallman arranges her songs in a wide array of musical styles, from straight up rock to rap to country to folk, and that's what endears it to my 15-month old son, my husband, and me. My husband and I are both big music fans and have always expressed our desire to expose our son to as many types of music as possible. "Classic Nursery Rhymes" is a great start!

  3. I use it in the car a lot. It is quite entertaining and at the same time useful as an education tool (rythm, words, memory training, etc).

  4. My daughter just loves and dance along with this CD and she is only 8 months old. I know as she gets older she will sing along. The songs are sung very well and in different music genre. Really cute CD and would higly recommend it.

  5. I purchased this CD after absolutely loving her Children's Songs CD. Her music is so much fun to sing, sway, and dance to. I own 4 of her CD's and enjoy them all for different reasons. They are arranged and performed beautifully. It was a delightful surprise to find music for our baby that my husband and I love too! Susie's music totally relaxes our son when he is upset. It is impossible to be in a bad mood when you turn it on! It will always be included in baby shower gifts from now on.

5 comments about Golden Slumbers: A Father's Lullaby.

  1. This album was given as a pre-birth gift and my wife listened to it while she was in labor. John Stoddart's rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" brought her to tears. I thought it was the labor pains but she said it was the song!

The baby is now almost two and she LOVES this CD. She has learned the first bars from Brahms' Lullaby and hums them all the time. She perks up every time we start the CD, that's her cue to go to bed.

Great CD, well worth the price.

  2. Maybe it is a good album for these newage or jazz fans, but it is not a good album for children. This album is rather bland, and have a quality of strong resonance. It makes the sound unclear and dark, and hard to listen to.

  3. I got this CD when I was pregnant. I listened to it each afternoon while I took a nap. When my baby was born, I continued to play it for him at nap and sleeptime. Both my husband and i laughed because we could hear it playing over the monitor and it would put us happily and peacefully asleep! We still love it 16 months later and play it every day.

  4. I purchased this CD when my son was born three years ago and we listened to it everyday for at least the first year of his life. I would play it during naptime and it is by far my favorite baby CD. It's soothing and sentimental. After searching my entire house for weeks trying to find our copy when baby #2 was born, I ordered another from Amazon since my search left me empty handed. My little girl is so relaxed listening to this compilation and since I already mentioned how sentimental this disc is to me, it brings me so much joy to listen to it with her. Even brings tears to my eyes. Who doesn't love holding a baby girl listening to John Stoddart sing "Isn't she lovely?" This album will not disappoint! Buy one for yourself and another copy for your best girlfriend!

  5. My boys are 3 & 4 years old. I received this CD as a gift when I had my first child and had to buy my 2nd a copy for his room too. We have played it every night since each of them was born. It is the most relaxing and beautiful CD.
Last year I moved to Australia and the CD would not work in Australian CD players. I bought other lullaby CD's and they all were awful compared to this one. After trying to contact the artist to see if they had an Australian region CD-- I finally ended up burning the CD's so I could play them on my Australian CD players.
I cannot recommend this CD enough. Great baby gift, it will be listened to for years.

5 comments about Jack's Big Music Show, Season 1.

  1. I bought this for my daughter but I have to admit I wanted it for the song Grumpy - I LOVE that song. We're both big fans of the music played on Jack's Big Music Show and she sings them all day long at work. Definately a plus to have on long trips!

  2. Great for kids of all ages on long car trips when they are stuck it the seat and need something to keep them entertained. Not to "sicky sweet" for adults to listen to also.

  3. This is a great cd. It is as much fun for the parents as it is for the kids. There a few songs that aren't great, but the majority rocks.
You will enjoy this if you purchase it.

  4. We just love this CD! my 2 1/2 yr. old son and I always have it on in the car! His favorite is the Hot Peas n' Butter song, but he has fun with all of them. My faorite is "Bugs are Really Swell"! Very catchy! lol The only thing is that I really wish they would have included more of the songs from the first season, especially the song with Cathy "Every Animal has it's Groove". We LOVE that song! Hopefully they will come out with a second part of season one!

  5. We like Laurie, but I wasn't impressed with this CD. My kids (3 and 5) asked me to skip most of the songs every time we listened to it, and I was happy to oblige. The Laurie songs on here were enjoyable, but we can get those (and more) on her own cds. Of the other songs on the cd, really the ones we wanted to hear were the Grumpy song and I Like It That Way. Everything else was inane (even to the kids) and several were done in the voices of Mel, Mary, etc., which we found to be grating (it's different when you're watching them act it out on tv...just LISTENING to those voices is not very enjoyable....familiar, but actually irritating)! I know this review is different than most about this cd, so take it for what it's worth, but see if your local library has this before you plunk down the money for it. I'm glad we tried it at the library first! On another note, we'd highly recommend Dan Zanes, Brady Rymer, Justin Roberts, and maybe Ralphs World, too.

5 comments about Veggie Tales: God Made You Special.

  1. This is a wonderfully made DVD in line with the Veggie Tale line up of videos for children. Colorful and entertaining. My grandson enjoys watching it.

  2. If your kids like this series already then this is yet another great dvd, but if you do not know about them then...BUY IT!!!! Try this dvd...they will love it! And so will you because it has a super message and there is nothing gross, or nasty or just plain stupid. Yes...it has a message and it is fun and has catchy songs to boot. I say...two thumbs up...Get it....what are you waiting for?????

  3. It is always good to know that God Made Us Special and for my two grandsons - age 3 and 4, absorbing this info, we hope will help them grow in life as healthy "God-fearing", loving, contributing members of society.

  4. Both of my sons love this dvd! It has short stories so it can hold their attention. The stories are also interesting and funny for parents as well.

  5. If you are looking for a longer veggie tales product, this is the show for you. It is about twice as long as the usual veggie tales DVD, with what is basically a two show format. It is as good as their usual stuff, which is to say, entertaining with good value lessons. The only drawback is if, like me, you get really tired of watching these "tales" over and over and over (as the kids like to do), you have to watch twice as much on this DVD.

5 comments about Groove to the Music.

  1. My daughter and I love song #4, Super Rad. All of the songs are very catchy with clever lyrics and a fun beat. Always puts us in a happy mood. We love the Backyardigans!

  2. We LOVE this CD. Our kids love the Backyardigans, but we actually listened to the previous CD's before we ever watched the program. What's nice about this is that the music isn't dumbed down, it's all sorts of international music produced very professionally with fun and funny lyrics. My husband and I enjoy it as much as our kids do and if you've ever spent a long car ride listening to children's music...you know that is saying A LOT!

  3. We initially checked out this cd from our local library. I questioned the title of some of the songs, didn't think they would be a good influence. After I realized I knew the lyrics to at least 3 of the songs and my girls behaviors were not negatively impacted - I bought the cd and we continue to love it. The CD has catchy lyrics and melodies, a little bit like showtunes I think.

  4. A must have for any Backyardigans fan. We listen to this CD everyday in the car. We won't let our son listen to the radio so we have to have a bunch of children friendly CDs loaded in the car at all times. My son absolutely loves this CD. It's probably one of the few children CDs I can listen to without losing my mind.

  5. We purchased this for my Daughter's themes Backyardigans party. She loved the music and asks to listen to it at breakfast every morning. My daughter loves the Backyardigans in general but this is a way for her to get to listen to the music (her favorite part) without always watching TV. Music is not annoying for adults as so many of the choices are now adays.
