5 comments about Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics, Vol. 2.

  1. It has different classical music composers and music selections. If you bought the Baby Bach, Bay Mozart #1 and #2, there will be some repeats. I still enjoy the music selections of the other composers.

  2. This is great CD. We love Vol. 1 but it was getting a little over played so we bought Vol. 2. It's THE best thing for a car ride. Especially with a fussy baby who hates cars.

  3. My son had a rough time giving up his musical mobile. He needed the music to help him calm down as he was falling asleep.

In a moment of desperation, I purchased both this CD and volume 1 of the Lullaby Classics.

When I played the CD I was pleasantly surprised, that the music on the CD was very calming. I also know most of the songs which made it more enjoyable. I even enjoy hearing it on the baby monitor when my son was trying to fall asleep.

  4. This is a very nice cd to have home, it's the best way of introducing music to your baby. Amazing composers, great selection and the instruments used, made it easy for "little ears". It's a calming, sweet way of putting your baby to bed. Everytime I have time I turn it on and give a full body massage in my daughter... we both love it.

  5. These are so good for the young kids in your family!!! I love all their products

5 comments about Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie.

  1. Now like most kids, I loved the Power Rangers, I loved the intense martial arts fights and the general good feeling of good always winning over evil. Today I can still look back on past episodes not with general nostalgia, but as a viewer of today and call it childish but I can still say the Mighty Morphin was the best rangers generation. Although you generally knew that the Rangers would always win out against the bad guy, it was always made in a way in which would have you thinking "well maybe they wont pull through this time". It's a genuinely fun and cool show for the kids and the big kid in all of us who struggles to hold onto the past.

The story focuses around a mysterious egg prison found in a building site, it's opened by Rita and Lord Zedd to release the evil Ivan Ooze. Ooze was locked away by Zordon 6 thousand years ago and now Ooze is seeking revenge, he destroys the crystaline chamber keeping Zordon alive and is what provided the rangers with their power. Now, the rangers must set on a quest on an ancient planet to unlock a secret power which will help save Zordon and the universe.

The Power Rangers was never a show about great action or complete fantasy, it was a show that gave a great message about friendship and self belief. It always had the underlining message about sticking by those you care about and defending those in trouble. It did this in my mind without being too cheesy or too insulting to the child's intelligence. They portray this message superbly in this movie and as always places that along side some great action.

The special effects of this movie are, for the time amazing and it clearly has a much bigger budget than its TV counterpart. The zord animations aren't perfect but are much preferred to the traditional man in a crazy suit in a model city. It is cool and Ivan Ooze makes for a great one off evil villain that is so evil even locks away Rita and lord Zedd. A great movie all around, it isn't something that new fans will enjoy as it's very much a film for the fans of the traditional series. To those now too old to call themselves rangers fans simply because it makes you seem creepy, it's something that can give you an enjoyable nostalgia feel.

  2. As a child, I loved the original Power Rangers! Now that I'm out of high school, I still miss the original series. The movie was/is awesome! Ivan Ooze has escaped and Lord Zedd needs his help to stop the Rangers for good. When Ooze wants to control the world and destroys the Command Center and almost kills Zordon, the Rangers have lost their power and travel to another planet to find the Great Power. After they retrieve the power, they go back to earth to stop Ivan Ooze. The special effects are awesome and the storyline is sweet! If you are a fan of the original, you'll love the movie.

  3. If you were growing up in the early 90's as a kid you would remeber how "THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS" would be the show to run home to watch..POWER RANGERS THE MOVIE is just MARVELOUS!! GR8 movie for the next generation to look back and marvel at!

  4. I got this movie when i was 4 years old and i still have it. Iam glad i saw the power ranger actors when i was 5 years old in 1999 in rock a fella plaza in new york city when i see this movie know a days it bring back so many memorys of the power ranger shows the knew power ranger shows know a days are not that great like mystic force and operation over drive they are okay but not better than the old power rangers i just hope they put back the old power rangers on jetix that would nice and iam sorry for the car accident death of the original yellow ranger thuy thang on the san francisco highway in 2001 i was real sad when i heard that but knew power ranger shows came out well their not knew any more but i saw them they where really great. Okay back to this movie, this movie was real good but why did this movie come after the shows power rangers first came out in 1993 this came out in 1995 oh well this movie was good.

  5. I purchased this movie for my grandson's 3rd birthday. He loves it and wants to watch it all the time. He imitates the kung fu moves, which is better than a lot of the violence you see in movies, even ones geared for the younger crowd.

The humor is hokey, but considering the target audience it is fine. There is enough goo, special effects and colorful costumes to please a young group, boys and girls.

I watched it myself 4 times in one rainy afternoon with my grandson, Nathan, and it was ok. He loves it and that's what counts. Four stars.

  1. My two year old son loves this DVD. He watches it over and over again. It keeps him well entertained while he is learning. I would definately reccommend it.

  2. This was bought for my 2 year old son and he loves it. He has quite a collection of elmo dvd's, and this is one of his favorites that we have to watch over and over. I especially liked the family segment, because it showed there are many ways a family is made up of!

  3. Buy the Elmo Worls DVD's...I like them almost as much as my 17 month old!

  4. My baby loves Elmo and this video is no different.

  5. About Louis Bailey's comment- This video is about Families, not friends. Two men with a child, being two buddies waiting in the park for their wives, just doesn't make sense. Think about it!

5 comments about Elmo's World - Food, Water & Exercise.

  1. As good as it can be ... Bravoo, Elmo!

And ... on behalf of my three years daughter, Lea Scarlett, MANY THANKS!

  2. Elmo is very funny. Baby loves it and I have to say that Elmo character makes some comments and jokes that only an adult would understand. I find him very entertaining compared to Barney and Tellitubies. I would pick watching Elmo anyday over the other children DVDs.

  3. We saw part of this episode on sesame street and my son Lit up. He is one and loves to watch this dvd. It encourages him to be active and etertains him the entire time it is on.

  4. My 18 month old son loves his Elmo's World Food, Water & Exercise DVD. They are short enough to keep his attention and are education as well. If your child enjoys Elmo, this DVD will be a hit.

  5. My twin boys are almost a year old and we have most of the Elmo's World DVDs. If your kids like Elmo, and most seem to, I highly recommend this one. My boys love it and laugh out loud and kick their legs while watching it. There are several parts that show Elmo really close to the screen and my boys find that funny and exciting. There is also a glass of water and apple that talk, and those are great scenes. They also love it when Elmo makes a pizza. This disc always holds their attention and makes them smile. Other favorites are: Pets; The Great Outdoors; Flowers, Bananas & more; Reach for the Sky, and Sing Yourself Silly.

  1. Done as the Comic Stip characters have for a long time. In the style well loved by all Charlie Brown fans of all ages. Christmas isn't Christmas without this CD!

  2. I do love to listen to this. It's a classic! Everyone should have a copy of this. It brings back childhood when you listen, but you can now enjoy the music for itself also.

  3. This is one of my favorite Christmas CD's of all times. It's excellent music for parties, for all ages!

  4. this served as a great background music during the holidays. always puts everyone in a festive mood.

  5. All I can say is that this is an excellent CD. Just sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy the music. Makes a great addition to any Christmas music collection. Will bring back many memories of the Charlie Brown Christmas movie. Love it!

5 comments about Disney's Sing-Along Songs - Happy Haunting.

  1. A little scary for younger kids but still a lot of fun and entertaining for the whole family.

  2. My two and 3 year olds used to be slightly afraid of the scary trees and wicked witch in this DVD, but now they totally love both! They'll watch this video all year long! It's more like one continuous story than most of the other singalongs I've seen. It takes place in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland---there's a Halloween party there. The songs are very catchy and fun for all to sing!

  3. Contrary to some of the negative reviews, we found this video very entertaining. Give Disney a break! There are some slighlty spooky moments to keep the little ones engaged, and the simple acting and familiar songs are perfect for kids under eight.

  4. The only thing that matters about this video is that the intended audience love it. My three-year-old grandson watches it again and again. He dances to it, sings, bounces around. He thinks it's wonderful.

  5. My boys (3 & 6) love this video & asked for it to be played over & over again. I was bored, but I bought it for them, not me, so I guess that's ok. Not too scary for little guys.

5 comments about Thomas & Friends: Thomas' Trusty Friends.

  1. My grandson, age 2, loved this DVD. He wanted to watch it over and over. I highly recommend it to others.

  2. My grandson enjoyed viewing this. It explains on a juvenile level that though we may be different it is something to be celebrated.

  3. My son used to be obsessed with Thomas, but now he loves to go to construction sites to watch the big machines dig, so this DVD is perfect. Like "On Site with Thomas", this DVD features Thomas, and Miss Jenny's pack: Jack the front loader, Alfie the excavator, Byron the bulldozer, Buster the steam roller, Ned the steam shovel, Max and Monty the dump trucks, and others. His only criticism of this DVD is that it comes to an end.

    Story Stops:
    Thomas' Trusty Friends
    Alfie Has Kittens
    A Tale for Thomas
    Percy Helps Out
    The Tortoise and The Hare
    Thomas and the Moles

  4. The latest in the delightful Thomas the Tank Engine DVD series, Thomas' Trusty Friends offers six new episodes and two sing-along songs featuring the lovable blue train. When a storm causes chaos on Thomas' island home, he must work together with his friends to restore things and get ready for the upcoming big game! A charming, family-friendly show ideal for young children who love trains and other industrial vehicles. 60 minutes, color.

  5. JACK AND HIS OTHER CONSTRUCTION CREW ARE BACK IN MORE EXCITING ADVENTURES OF THOMAS & FRIENDS: TRUSY FRIENDS!

THIS DVD MAY HAVE 7 OR 6 SODOR CONSTRUCTION STORIES AND A ALL NEW SING ALONG SONG!

SO STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES!!!

  1. If you grew up with the Muppets - you have to have this. It makes me feel like a kid again. Great songs!

  2. If you enjoy the muppets or any of their movies, you will enjoy this CD. It brought back great childhood memmories for myself and the song, "Rainbow Connection", is great.

  3. As of this review, I'm 31yrs old and...

    I LOVE THIS CD!!!

Its just fun and I love most of the songs. Yes... I admit it. Now, I feel like a burden has come off my shoulders.

  4. great for songs not available on cd such as soundtrack for the muppet movie, last song was lame though.

  5. Not sure who likes this more, our 15 month old little guy or me. You should buy Season 1 of the Muppet show too just to bring back how much fun this was growing up. Back when specials were just that and getting to watch the Muppets was a reward for good behavior. I still think this is a reward for good behavior. You can't help but grin at the witty lyrics and the very real threats that Miss Piggy unleashes on hapless foam rubber Kermit. It's a great compilation that you'll like and your kids will love as much as you did. Mahna mahna is the best though. Great stuff.

5 comments about Alice Upside Down.

  1. This is a sweet movie about Alice (Alyson Stoner) who moves to a new town and must make friends in a new middle school. Although Alice wants to be one of the cool girls in school her day dreams only land her in one embarrassing situation after another.

However, Alice learns during the course of the movie that appearances aren't everything and she finally begins to accept herself for who she is. She also helps her father (Luke Perry)to accept the loss of her mother and move along with his life.

I thought the movie was good and the actors played their parts well and would have given it 4 stars but my 9 year old, the prime target audience for this movie, asked me to dock another star for an oft repeated theme in tween movies. She said that although the story was "cute" it was "too typical and predictable." Hence my current 3 star rating.

  2. Alice is an introspective 11-year-old girl struggling to deal with the awkwardness of growing up without a female role-model in her home. Having lost their mother years before, Alice and her teenage brother Lester are being raised by their father, Ben. Together, they've moved to a new town where Ben owns a music store and Alice will be starting junior high. The film takes us through Alice's first semester as a 6th grader as she deals with her constant feelings of inadequacy, making friends, her father's return to dating, a new teacher she idolizes and another she has misjudged.

"Alice Upside Down" is, not surprisingly, based on a book series aimed at preteens and written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. The movie plays out just that way, too. It doesn't really tell a specific story, but rather follows the lead character through a portion of her life for the benefit of viewers who might relate to her feelings and experiences. For me, that works a bit better as a TV series than a movie. It CAN work for movies, but I think it would require more exciting experiences to do so. "Alice Upside Down" is successfully realistic (for the most part) and probably would work well for its very specific target audience of 6th grade girls, if they don't find it too drab, but I think as an overall "family film" it falls a little short, or at least wouldn't serve well for more than one viewing. To achieve the level of seriousness the film shoots for, it has to sacrifice the liveliness and cutesiness that made Lizzie McGuire (the series) so charming, so I'm not even sure most 11 and 12 year olds will be captivated by it. In addition, I just never found the lead character of Alice to be very likeable. At times she is a sympathetic character, but not really as often as she should be. Alice is a character who gets herself into trouble, and in the silliest ways, and though she is constantly embarrassing herself or being embarrassed by others, she never seems as believably mortified as the aforementioned Lizzie would, despite cowering a lot. And while I and surely others will appreciate that Alice is less snooty and sassy than most characters in kids' movies or shows, kids kind of are like that nowadays, so I'm not sure I'd say that adds to the realism any.

Disney Channel alumni Alyson Stoner and Lucas Grabeel star as Alice and her big brother Lester, Luke Perry (of TV's Beverly Hills 90210) plays their dad, Penny Marshall is the underappreciated Mrs. Plotkin, and Ashley Eckstein the adored and adorable Miss Cole. The acting is actually very good all around, though I have to be honest and say that Allyson Stoner doesn't really have the spark to draw me into her world. Not as bad as that dreadful young actress on Nickelodeon who can't seem to convey emotion (I'll let you guess who I'm talking about), but still not appealing enough for me to care for her Alice character in the moments that aren't tearjerkers over mother-loss or what have you. By the way, she does that thing where she talks directly to the audience in this film, and I really don't think it works here or is necessary at all. Lucas Grabeel does a pretty good job at playing the opposite of his High School Musical character here, and I'm sure both those Disney actors will draw loyal Disney Channel fans. I'm a little more old-school Disney myself, only liking a very small portion of what the channel currently runs. The highlight for male viewers in "Alice Upside Down" will undoubtedly be Ashley Eckstein, a gorgeous young actress whom I was surprised to see playing a teacher when I know she was very recently playing Disney Channel high school students herself, but I think she got those gigs with her very youthful appearance. She certainly gets the mouth watering in this film, but I've always enjoyed ogling her onscreen, even on Blue Collar TV. Definitely my favorite aspect of the movie.

Overall, "Alice Upside Down" is just an okay film, unless you are a girl in or around 6th grade who needs very little excitement or story. I realize it is intended to be a "coming of age film" as such, though more likely the first in what is hoping to be several, but I can't shake the feeling that it's just kind of TOO bland. The low-budget quality of the whole thing (something that is usually all the more evident in the music and how it is used), which looks to be lower than a Disney Channel movie's budget (probably much lower than the most recent ones), doesn't help much either. I also wasn't very big on the fantasy sequences, which felt a bit clunky in their presentation. If you or your kid is a fan of the book series though, that would surely add some excitement to seeing this film. Hey, I understand, I grew up with "Superfudge" and all that stuff (though I was more into "Bunnicula" myself). Who knows how the fans will like it though. From what little I've read about the book series (notably, one that has been praised for its coverage of the topic of sex, which makes the non-reader wonder just how the topic is handled in the books), there are some differences to be sure. The anamorphic widescreen DVD boasts a trailer, an interview with Alyson Stoner, an interview with Lucas Grabeel, and a little vid about Alice's costumes for the film. The interviews surely make nice little treats for the hardcore fans of the stars.

  3. Alice upside down is a charming kids movie that parents will be able to watch along with their kids. The movie stars Alyson Stoner as a misfit pre-teen moving to a new town and entering a new school. Alyson deals with her insecurities by imagining that she is actually a "cool" girl. The movie flashes into imaginary sequences where Stoner appears as she wishes to be seen - with cool clothes, witty comebacks and an entourage of friends. These dream sequences contrast with Stoner's stumbles as a regular teen trying to fit in. The acting is pretty good which makes the movie stomach-able for adults. Stoner is really charming, her brother is believable and her father (played by Luke Perry) does a decent job in the role. Penny Marshall appears also as a school teacher with an attitude. Pre-teens will be satisfied by Alice Upside Down's charm and fun.

  4. Teen actress Alyson Stoner (Cheaper by the Dozen), portrays Alice McKinley in "Alice Upside Down," a young girl whose life is disrupted when her father moves her and her brother to a new town a few years after her mother has died. Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210) plays Alice's father, Ben McKinley, and Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical) plays her brother, Lester, in a movie that feels a lot like a Disney made-for-TV special. While most of Alice's problems stem from the fact that she has been struggling to figure out how best to behave like a lady without much in the way of a female role model since her mother died several years earlier, she is also unusually challenged by innate clumsiness and tone deafness.

The joy of watching Alice come to terms with each setback and embarrassment is what makes "Alice Upside Down" most fun, and young girls will enjoy the vicarious thrill of seeing someone so smart and pretty bumbling through the kinds of situations that most of us run into much more than we'd like in adolescence. Some of the issues dealt with in "Alice Upside Down" feel heavy at times, as Alice confronts her father about his difficulty integrating poignant memories of the past (in the form of old home movies and pictures of his wife) with the new life he's building in the new house and town.

While the main story line of how Alice can develop her sense of identity in a new town even when things seem to keep going wrong is fairly good, there are some choppy aspects to "Alice Upside Down." The movie's frequent use of voice-over narrative in which Alice looks and speaks directly to the camera kept reminding me that this is "just a movie," and the character development seemed a bit flat and two-dimensional. I would have loved to know more about the other characters than this movie showed... such as why Alice's dad started dating and then suddenly stopped, for example.

One of the strong points of "Alice Upside Down" is that the actors are fabulous and the cast is strong enough to really hold viewer interest, so even predictable plot development and a made-for-TV vibe didn't dissuade me from watching the movie all the way through to the end. I really loved seeing Penny Marshall playing the role of Mrs. Plotkin, Alice's teacher, and I loved the heart-warming ending of the film in which Alice gained an appreciation for true friends in unexpected places.

I recommend this movie for fans of Alyson Stoner, Luke Perry, Lucas Grabeel, and Penny Marshall... and young girls who can handle a movie that deals with serious issues of mortality (death and illness).

  5. The main thing I want to get across is that 'Alice Upside Down' is, in fact, a true "family movie," that is actually free of the typical Hollywood over-the-top stuff that a family with tweens can't watch (at least comfortably) together.

This is mostly very light material with a few issues that, while depressing, are handled in a positive light with good role models shown.

There's a positive vibe that sat well the entire film - for this parent.

5 comments about Real Wheels - Truck Adventures (There Goes a Truck/Fire Truck/Garbage Truck).

  1. Almost too much info., does seem to drag on for mom but my 4 yr. old enjoys watching it.

  2. There is way too much mindless chitchat between the two hosts. My 20 month old makes me fast-forward all the talking bits until an actual truck is shown. Don't talk down to kids...they hate it even at a young age. And it drives adults crazy! Also, there are several instances when the hosts are rude and snarky to each other or doing something stupidly dangerous in order to get a laugh....for instance: host Dave gets blasted with a fire hose and he falls down, host Becky gets dumped into the back of the dump truck, Dave gets dumped, too, and then the two jump out of a big garbage truck and when it starts to roll away without a driver, they chase after it.

Okay, so my kid doesn't really get all that yet, but still. What's the point of doing all that? There are some really good bits about where the recycling goes....these nice informative parts could be better explored with Dave (who has a nice announcer's voice) doing a voice over. Stay behind the camera Dave, and better editing would be good, too. Also, don't let the untrained professionals (like the firefighters and garbage dudes) ramble on and on about their profession without a script; and if they stutter or stumble, then for chrissakes, reshoot it. Really lame waste of $10. Will not be showing it to my kid again if only to save my own sanity, and to prevent him from acting like a buffoon like the hosts.

  3. We first found this video (now DVD) when my now 12-year-old son was a toddler. My son fell completely in love with the series, and we are happily passing the tradition along to children of friends. Dave and Becky are very funny, and appeal to kids of all ages (including grownups). It's a series of DVDs that is not annoying for adults, and keeps kids mesmerized. Enjoy!

  4. Great video for older kids but my 3 year old grandson looses interest
quick. This video is too mature for him. My mistake!

  5. While Dave is pretty annoying to most adults, kids love these videos. Just like most adults don't like shows such as Barney, they aren't made for adults. My boys would watch all the Real Wheels videos over & over all day long if they could. I highly recommend them, especially for the price.
