5 comments about La Luna.
- i bought many of her CDs. this one a pure enjoyment. what can you ask for more in this world? i enjoy playing this album at night because it has the power to bring me to another world where my heart can find a moment peace. LOVE SARAH!!!!
- What pulls this up to 3 stars is Brightman's voice; what pull it down to 3 stars is the extreme way-over-the-top production. I had to make sure it wasn't produced by Phil Specter. Well it was actually Frank Peterson who manages to throw everything at us, including an echo chamber, reverb, distortion, lush strings, drums, a choir - I think I even heard a bagpipe in one cut. This is what they did with Paris Hilton to hide the fact she can't sing. Well, Sarah can sing but you really have to work to hear it. She got some bad advice on this one. Hope she can find a producer who can highlight her marvelous voice and not cover it with all that extraneous noise.
- Just as wonderful on the album as it was live. She really knows how to make her audience want MORE!
- The La Luna Soundtrack CD is a very nice production for Sarah Brightman. The CD is a concert soundtrack comprised of a variety of songs that were collected for a television concert in the year 2000. La Luna is most enjoyable to listen to because Sarah's vocals are absolutely beautiful, capturing, and amazing. If you never heard Sarah's angelic soprano/alto voice you are in for a treat. The actual concert DVD video, from which this soundtrack is taken from, is available through Amazon.com.
- A really good album on Sarah Brightman's part. This album came out after her two smash-hit albums, TIME to SAY GOODBYE and EDEN. It offers the same sort of material from Eden, with a new theme. Some pop tunes (in English) and some opera and classical (mostly in Italian or Spanish) (and even in Russian). Here's a quick score-and-comment:
1.) LA LUNE - 4/5 - Drawn out with a lot of synth and Neil Armstrong. Beautiful lyrics in French by Sarah. Her voice is haunting.
2.) WINTER IN JULY - 5/5 - A great English pop piece. It really makes you think, and the lyrics are haunting, along with the vocals.
3.) SCARBOROUGH FAIR - 4/5 - A beautiful song. However, on this album, it's a little bit overproduced with the synthetic pop sounds.
4.) FIGLIO PERDUTO - 5/5 - An amazing piece in Italian, which tells the story of a son being separated from his father. The boy describes his captor as "the elfin king". "Figlio Perduto" means "Lost Son".
5.) A WHITER SHADE OF PALE - 4/5 - Once again, a fairly nice song, but a bit overproduced with synth sounds. Her voice seems slightly robotic in the verses, but it really breaks through for the refrain.
6.) HE DOESN'T SEE ME - 5/5 - A great and gentle love song. Sarah really does a great job on this track.
7.) SERENADE - 4/5 - Vocalise to "How Fair This Place"
8.) HOW FAIR THIS PLACE - 4/5 - A nice piece in Russian, but it's kind of hard to tell what she's saying. I'm Ukrainian, and Russian and Ukrainian share words and sound alike. Still nice, though!
9.) HIJO DE LA LUNA - 6/5 - AMAZING! All in Spanish, and all flowing smoothly! I can never get enough of it.
10.) HERE WITH ME - 4/5 - Dido originally recorded this piece. Sarah did it in her own way. It's good, but there is a little bit too much pop noise!
11.) LA CALIFFA - 6/5 - A beautiful piece in Italian, written by Ennio Morricone. Sarah doesn't even scoop in this piece! It's hypnotizing!
12.) THIS LOVE - 3/5 - WAY TO OVERPRODUCED! I really don't like this piece at all!
13.) SOLO CON TE - 5/5 - If I remember correctly, Handel wrote this piece. Sarah does a pretty good job on it. The orchestrations are a little heavy, and you can't here Sarah all of the time. Still good, though.
14.) GLOOMY SUNDAY - 6/5 - An awesomly haunting piece, which really focuses in on death and suicide. Sarah's voice makes the piece chill your spine and numb your body.
15.) LA LUNA/MOON RIVER - 6/5 - The Italian version of Dvorak's original piece. Sarah's voice is light here, but still packs a powerful punch. Her voice easily hits the high notes with no scooping! At the end of the track (after about a 20-second break), she begins a beautiful version of Sinatra's "Moon River". Absolutely beautiful.
TOTAL SCORE - 71/75 = about 95%
There will be a 95% chance that you will enjoy this album!

5 comments about Voulez-Vous.
- Voulez-Vous is generally regarded as ABBA's disoo album. But ABBA's music covered a lot of ground. Their songs often dealt with the theme of childhood. ABBA had a special relationship with children. Chiquitita demonstrates their capacity for sympathy, a shoulder to cry on. They gave the publishing on this song to UNICEF. When an article came out saying they might move to America, children all over Sweden reacted with tears. Chiquitita mean little girl. I bought this album in the summer of 1979 after returning to Nashville from Las Vegas. At that time, ABBA was the biggest music group in the world.
- This album would be perfect, were it not for the two drippy ballads. No matter how I try, I cannot listen to 'I Have a Dream' or 'Chiquidita' (or however you spell it!). But everything else is dynamic and gleaming.
Agnetha and Anni-Frid sing their hearts out, displaying the fullest extent of their combined talents. Benny and Bjorn's songwriting and arranging make you want to sing and dance along. My husband thinks that there is something really wrong with me that I love ABBA and the Velvet Underground equally (amongst other 'cooler' acts). But he doesn't know what he's missing!
This album - bar the two drippy ballads - is pure Pop Pleasure. ABBA at the top of their game.
- I agree with John (from N.Y.), these 24-bit re-masters of the Abba catalogue were a big letdown. In a side by side comparison, the original discs sounded much better than these. The originals were brighter and plenty full; just like the original album sounded.
On the other hand, these 24-bit discs sound slightly muddy and the high end (which includes acoustic guitars and cymbals) are flat or dead sounding thanks to the no-noise solution. My advice, is to save your money and keep your old discs.
- Being primarily a lover/collector of heavy metal, hard and progressive rock music, how can I explain why I still have a soft spot for this Swedish music machine. First of all I can say that ABBA was a big part of the music I grew up on. I especially remember being fascinated by the constant presence of the song 'Chiquitita' (among others) pouring out of the radio as well as from stereo and music shop speakers in the late 70's/early 80's. As a 12-year old kid, I amassed most of their albums on cassette before discovering more serious media such as vinyl and eventually CD's. Now when I listen to their output on CD with a more mature mind it has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I would say their most mature, consistent and standout album would be 'Voulez-Vous'. From the opening reverbed vocal onslaught on `As Good As New' to the powerful controlled screams on `Lovers (live a little longer)' it does not disappoint. Agnetha's and Anni-Frid's stirring and exquisite vocal harmonies are at their finest. After a typical listen to this album, every one of the tunes on this recording reverberates in my head constantly. Although the songs that went on to be hits (`Chiquitita', `Angel Eyes', `Does Your Mother Know') are top-notch, the remaining tracks such as `If It Wasn't For The Nights, `Lovers...', `The King Has Lost His Crown' etc. are just as good if not better. Without going into in-depth analysis of each song, I would say that IMHO, every single song on this album is memorable and extremely catchy. Whether you consider Voulez-Vous as influenced mainly by disco, funk, or whatever, it doesn't matter. Even though it is a bit dancey, the bottom line is that it's just plain brilliant music!. (interestingly enough I actually consider many 'disco' songs of that era to be of much higher musical quality than a lot the latest rock/pop crap being 'manufactured' today). The bonus tracks, `Gimme Gimme Gimme', `Summer Night City' and `Lovelight' are an especially nice addition to the remastered version (the first two I remember hearing on a long gone cassette copy of `Greatest Hits Vol.2' I had back in the day). If you dig ABBA for whatever reason (don't be ashamed to admit it!) you will not be disappointed by this album, especially the remastered version.
- Any purchaser who enjoys ABBA will enjoy Voulez-vous. My favorites on this CD are "Angel Eyes," and "Voulez-vous." ABBA had a certain type of fans - those of us who loved them in their hey day and still listen to their music now because it never ages.

5 comments about Ultimate Collection.
- Great music, great artist, great times. An excellent CD especially if you grew up listening to this music. It's timeless and first class.
- Once you head Dusty's music you were hooked. Her vocals and singing style were never equaled in the pop world. Her style of singing was distinctive and absolutely beautiful. This is one of her better albums, capturing her style and performance were like no others could do. White soul at its' best.
- Dusty Springfield could take a song and make it her own with her impeccable sense of timing, her excellent diction and her ability to perform with great sensitivity. This CD gives us a generous twenty songs by Dusty that should appeal to any Dusty Springfield fan.
The track set begins with "Silver Threads And Golden Needles." This early track features Dusty singing wonderfully with The Springfields while they were still together. "Silver Threads And Golden Needles" sports a melody that seems a blend of country and folk rock; Dusty's voice never sounded better! "I Only Want To Be With You" features Dusty Springfield front and center on her own with a backup chorus. The catchy melody helps the song; but Dusty's strong performance makes the number shine. Dusty sings of how she wants only to be with her man now that they are in love. Dusty sings "I Only Want To Be With You" passionately and this undoubtedly helped to make this ballad a classic. Great! Moreover, "Stay Awhile" features Dusty doing a lovely early 1960s love song; and Dusty never misses a beat! Love those strings! The percussion enhances the number even further and the backup chorus helps to keep Dusty squarely in the spotlight.
"Wishin' And Hopin'" was another early hit for Dusty; she sings passionately of how a woman can keep a man she loves. Listen for some great percussion; and Dusty's voice sounds rich, warm and vibrant. "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" uses strings and drums to create a dramatic melody; Dusty sings this passionate ballad about a love gone awry. Dusty's character is alone after her man leaves her; and she contemplates following him to talk him into staying with her at least a while longer. "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" is a great torch song that shines like silver and gold in Dusty Springfield's competent care!
"The Look Of Love" showcases Dusty's vocals as she sweetly delivers this number to perfection. The musical arrangement makes good use of the strings, percussion and the brass to make "The Look Of Love" very beautiful. Listen for a lovely horn solo during the musical interlude; and Dusty's voice is in perfect form on this track. "Son Of A Preacher Man" is a country style ballad about Dusty's character and her relationship with the son of a preacher. Dusty delivers "Son Of A Preacher Man" without a superfluous note. Wow.
"The Windmills Of Your Mind" gives us Dusty flawlessly singing yet another classic love ballad; and "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" features Dusty sharing the spotlight with The Pet Shop Boys. Dusty and The Pet Shop Boys sing of their pain after they have been jilted by difficult, demanding lovers.
The liner notes include great pictures of Dusty and Jim Pierson writes an informative essay about Dusty and her career. We get the song credits; and there are comments about each song on this CD by Paul Howes.
Dusty Springfield will never be forgotten. Indeed, she lives on through her great CDs; her music was a gift she gave to the world and we are all better off because of Dusty. Dusty's fans will, of course, consider this album to be a "must-have" for their collections; and people who appreciate classic pop vocals will like this album too.
Enjoy!
- It is what it is. "THE ULTIMATE" Fantastic!!
Her voice is like no other. So Appealing!!
You never get tired of listening.
- If you love Dusty Springfield, this collection is great. One of our most unique and best vocalists ever. I wish I had appreciated her more while growing up in the 60s and 70s.

5 comments about Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely.
- This is Sinatra at his best. The voice is pure, the phrasing is perfect, and the pathos and passion in the lyrics are delivered as only Old Blue Eyes can. If you feel the need to mourn a lost love, just play Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely, and you will experience your heartache all over again.
- Its a good listen, hey its Sinatra. But no where as good as his album "In the wee small hours in the morning." Now that is Sinatra. If you don't have it, get it.
- Nelson Riddle's arrangements for this album are inspired. The sensitivity and flair with which he approaches each song, achieving a distinct and definitive interpretation of each one, is alone worth the price of this album. But to then have Sinatra at his best as well, makes it irresistible. This is a melancholy album, make no mistake; the songs are mostly slow, blue and often deeply moving; I've never heard "Angel Eyes", "What's New" or "One For My Baby" done with such depth of feeling and masterly control. If you are in a mood to take sad music, images of devastated love, reflections on what might have been, this album will take you through it all and out the other side, leaving you the better for it. It makes a good, though totally contrasting, companion to "Songs For Swingin' Lovers".
- I have been listening to FS for a long time and still this is the only album of his I have. Its an extraordinary statement to claim Only The Lonely a perfect piece of art but thats my feeling - judging by other reviews I'm not alone - Ive discarded the last two tracks from my ipod since they are obviously from another plan - and just whats the problem with the art work folks?! If you havent heard the album get it NOW!
- Frank Sinatra Sings For Only the Lonely is a beautiful album of songs sung by the immortal Frank Sinatra; the sound quality couldn't be better! I would ignore that AWFUL artwork on the front cover, though. It's the worst artwork I've ever seen--and for a Sinatra CD that's a true shame.
"Only The Lonely" starts off the track set with Frank singing very sensitively about lonely people and the universal need for love and companionship. The piano arrangement is very elegant and this is a beautiful number to start the album. "Angel Eyes" is at its best when Frank delivers this with all his heart and soul; I love every minute of it and I could listen to Frank sing "Angel Eyes" all the time without any complaints! Frank sings "Angel Eyes" with all the grace of the pro that he was and still remains.
"What's New" has a lush strings arrangement and Frank sings this beautifully. He never misses a beat and his performance proves his superior ability to perform a song in such a superior way that practically no one could ever even hope to match. "Willow Weep For Me" is another melancholy tune that gets the royal treatment from Frank who sings this with great sensitivity. Frank truly showcases his fine ability to touch his audience when he does songs like this one. "Blues In The Night" is easily a major highlight of this album; Frank sings this to perfection--and beyond! "Blues In The Night," a Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer tune, gets a slower than usual tempo here that actually enhances the natural beauty of this ballad. I'm very impressed.
"Ebb Tide" is a song that I'm not too familiar with but when Frank sings it he makes this shine like silver and gold combined! The strings and the harp make the melody very pretty. "Spring Is Here" features Frank squarely in the spotlight--and he uses this opportunity to use his vocal prowess to make "Spring Is Here" a rather beautiful number. "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)" is another Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer tune; and Frank sings this perfectly. I always liked "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)."
"Sleep Warm" is a touching number you're bound to enjoy; and I really like the ending number entitled "Where Or When." "Where Or When" is very elegant and it features Sinatra singing with a piano--what a sublime ending for this album!
Frank Sinatra will never be forgotten; and albums like this will always sell well to prove his talent is immortal. Sinatra fans will enjoy this album immensely; and people who enjoy the blues and other classic pop vocals will appreciate this CD, too.

5 comments about Hair: Original Soundtrack Recording - Special Anniversary Edition.
- I bought this as a gift, and they really liked it. If you liked the movie/ musical you will like this CD.
- this special anniversary edition is better than I expected. I saw the movie dozens of times and it always gave me "crystal mistyc revelations" . This soundtrack teleport you to those places where the anti war movement is present, where the freedom of the souls and the bohemian life rouls your existence. Let "the tribe" play their game and enjoy all these 27 tracks full of life. "The air is everywhere..."
- I saw this movie when it came out and I have always loved the soundtrack. Someone told me the Broadway soundtrack was better, so I listened to it recently. I ended up appreciating even more how good this is. The singing is better, the arrangements are better, and I am guessing the choreography in the film is better (though I never saw the play--I was too young).
I would recount how great the various songs are but other reviewers have already done that.
- I love this soundtrack. Of course I would though, especially since the movie is the first and ONLY movie I have ever owned. Born in the early 60's I really didn't "live" the life - but by the time I got to college I was a latent hippy. I hadn't watched the movie for several years when I stumbled upon a scene while browsing on one of those post-your-own video websites - and I immediately dug my movie out from storage. After the viewing, went right to Amazon.com and ordered the soundtrack. I had to have it. Since then I have played it in my car, at work in my cubicle (with headphones on), and even on the laptop while I sit here today. The soundtrack captures the movie in it's entirety. Man, I really miss Nell Carter.
- Allready knew the music (had it as an LP for many years)
Like an old friend you meet again after a lot of years.
A-OK!!

5 comments about The Music Man (1957 Original Broadway Cast).
- I suppose that everyone who is interested in Broadway musicals is familiar with "The Music Man," from seeing it on Broadway, to the movie version, to touring companies, to the unfortunate recent television adaptation, and even to local theater groups.
And, I suppose that most of them listen to the music repeatedly, as I do.
Meredith Willson has written a wonderful variety of music: the rowsing "Seventy-Six Trombones," which became the musical trademark of the show; the hilarious "Pick-a-Little;" the romantic "My White Knight;" and what about the combination of "Trombones" with "Goodnight, My Someone."
The original cast is superb. This is a role which suits Robert Preston's voice and demeanor to a tee. Barbara Cook, of course, is the best, and it really shows here. Add in the supporting cast and the Buffalo Bills, and you have as near perfection as a musical will ever reach.
As I said, a must for Broadway fans.
- I cannot rate this product because I gave it as a gift.
I haven't heard the CD.
All I can say is that my friend was thrilled to get it for Christmas.
- though not for everyone, if you enjoy a classic Broadway musical, and a thoroughly classic Broadway performer, then this Original Cast Recording of Robert Preston singing The Music Man can hardly disappoint. The score, the voice, the show, is all well-known - it is hard to imagine anyone being unfamiliar with the production. Yet if you do not recognize this recording, or have not heard it - if you are a true fan of classic Broadway productions, you won't want to exclude this one from your collection.
in its own stubborn Iowa way, it is timeless.
- I loved this show when I saw it on Broadway and I love it now. Thanks!
- One of the greatest American musicals. The score, book, performances...all combined to make one of the greatest musicals in American theater. Robert Preston was magnificent, Barbara Cook was perfection, the supporting cast were delightful! This is a GREAT cast recording. Fortunatley for the world, Preston's performance is preserved on film. Sadly, Cook's is not (though Shirley Jones is wonderful). Barbara Cook is one of the great treasures of the theater world. Just see one of her concert performances today (nearing 80 yrs old) and you will see why. Her voice is still glorious, she is positively ethereal!

5 comments about A Little Night Music (1973 Original Broadway Cast).
- You can be sure of one thing from a Sondheim musical--It will be out of the ordinary. Sometimes because it is so entertaining, like "A Funny Thing ..." Sometimes because he is attempting to be a groudbreaker, as in "Pacific Overtures." One thing you can expect, the music will be interesting and innovative.
His groundbreaking can either fall flat, or catch the interest of the theater-going crowd. More than half of his musicals have lost money for their backers.
"A Little Night Music" falls into the interest-catching category, with a 601 performances, money making run. Musically, it provides a mixture of ensemble and fine solo materials. But, as a musical, it does not work for me. I will not fault previous reviewers, who raved, because I recognize that this is largely a matter of taste. It just does not taste like a musical to me.
I will continue to listen to it, enjoying the music. But I will not rush out to buy a ticket if a touring company brings it to town.
- As the song says, the whole score of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC lightens my life. I ride along listening to wonderful music while beside me, in other vehicles, I hear music one can't possibly consider music. It's a wonderful score, a great CD, the performers couldn't be better, as we all know, and I will be listening and enjoying for a very long time.
- I saw the original Broadway play in New York with this cast. It was definitely off beat for the time and I wasn't so sure as the play started with operatic-like songs, but it took very little time for me to get fully into the mood of this musical. This is a tidy, sophisticated play with wonderfully nuanced lyrics and music. The pieces come through well on this recording. Thoroughly enjoyable.
- I recently purchased this album after being taken by many of Sondheim's works, such as SWEENEY TODD, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, and FOLLIES. And I am so glad I purchased it.
It's a fantastic score, with a great cast. The melodies are sweeping and irresistable, the lyrics are witty and clever.
And how can you top this cast? Len Cariou turns in a great performance as Fredrick Egerman, and Glynis Johns is perfection as Desiree Armfeldt. Hermione Gingold is also fabulous as Mme. Armfeldt.
The best tracks on the CD are:
Now/Later/Soon
The Glamorous Life
Every Day A Little Death
Liasons
A Weekend in the Country
Send in the Clowns
The Miller's Son
Go out and buy A Little Night Music, you will not be dissapointed.
- The beauty of the score sneaks up on you. The lyrics are Sondheim's most clever (The hands on the clock turn, but don't sing a nocturne just yet...) The singers do more than just sing the songs... They convey what they are feeling and thinking with their voices (which is wonderful for a broadway recording - we want to have the experience of being seated in a theatre watching the musical as well as listening to it). The music is magical, transporting us to wherever the characters want us to go (their memories, their hearts, their thoughts, their desires). The style of the music is a mixture of impressionistic (Ravel, Debussy, Poulenc, Satie, etc...), Classical (Bach - the only music to which Sondheim claims now to listen) and of course, Waltz. This mixture is exquisite. Send In The Clowns is NOT the best song in this musical, by far. The songs I will never tire of in this musical:
1)Overture and Night Waltz
2)Now
3)Soon (my favorite)
4)Every Day A Little Death (reminiscent of The Sound of Music's "How do solve a problem like Maria")
5)Night Waltz I
6)Night Waltz II
7)The Miller's Son (One Sondheim's own favorites)
The music and lyrics are brilliant. The performances by both the actors and orhestra are superb. Everything about this musical is amazing and wonderful. Enjoy.

- This stuff is junk. The Sinatra and Bennett catalogs are still available for a reson. Please, youth of America - Listen to the originals!!
- Wonderful CD ... Michael Buble's melodic voice and orchestral musicians have created a CD that I have already listened to over and over again. The DVD is a nice bonus which presents the artist in new and different lights. If you haven't purhcased this yet or are still considering it - GET IT - you will not be disappointed.
- This CD and DVD are awesome...it's great to hear the live versions - brings you back to the concert...and the DVD shows you how he really is...which is still magnificent!
- As always, I really like this DVD and it complements my other one that I got not too long ago.
- I watch the DVD over and over. The next best thing to actually seeing him live. I have loved his music for years but once you watch him perform, you are hooked. This DVD has turned casual fans in to fanatics. Not only is he a talented singer but he will make you laugh. Can't say enough about it. I just went to my first live concert of his and it was more than I expected!!!! This is sooooo worth it.

- The CD is just what we wanted. The songs selected are the ones we remember and treasure.
- Great quality of sound, perfect selection of songs. Took it to work and a coworker bought "Dino" the next week.
- Dino was under rated ..This is a great compilation and great concert to see one of the mater entertainers..If ya like Dion --you'll love this!!!
- We are thoroughly enjoying listening to Dean Martin on this CD. It's a mixture of popular Dino songs--songs written back when the lyrics usually made sense and the music is relaxing and familiar.
- Dean Martin is a multi-media guy, I think. His image, easy going personality, humor- as important as his voice. I found myself a bit disappointed with his music alone, but I give the four-star rating because of the Live at Tahoe CD included in this special edition.

5 comments about Falling into You.
- This is such an inspirational CD! I love her voice, especially in number 3 - if you're a ballroom dancer, this is a beautiful Rumba! There are a couple other Rumbas worth listening to as well. Please give it a whirl first and you'll be enchanted by her, even if this is some of her early work.
- Falling Into You by Celine Dion was a good album for its time but now this cd is pretty much throwaway pop. Songs I do appreciate include: Because You Loved Me, River Deep Mountain High, Call the Man, All By Myself, It's All Coming Back to me Now, and the title-track. The rest of the songs are filler. I used to be a fan of Celine's but after Let's Talk About Love album I lost interest, my music taste changed after that. Romantic album but nothing spectacular.
- I love Celine Dion music and this album is always one of my favorites. Even when Taking Chances came out recently I love that Album but this one is classic Celine. Some of my favorite Celine songs off this album are "Dreamin of You", "If That's What It Takes", and of course the ones that are more known; which are, "Because You Loved Me", "All By Myself" and "It's All Coming back to me now." I love this entire album.
- This CD plays and sounds as good as any new one that I have
purchased, and best of all, cost VERY little. Shipped to me
quickly. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
- This is Celine's best album to date. Filled with powerful ballads and amazing lyrics, this is an album that after 12 years I still like to play like I just bought it yesterday.
My favorite song is "If that's what it takes" which is the English version of the French "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" released in 1995, one of Celine's signature songs. The English lyrics are a breathtaking declaration of love and a promise to fight and even die for love of that special someone(I will risk everything, I will fight, I will bleed
I will lay down my life, if that's what you need
Ev'ry second I live, that's the promise I make
Baby, that's what I'll give, if that's what it takes)
This is album is Celine's masterpiece.
