5 comments about Rapture: Opera's Most Heavenly Moments.
- I have more experience with other genres of music, but am interested in basically all kinds. I have been collecting CDs for nearly 2 decades but had no Opera in my collection. I did a little research and arrived at a conclusion. If I wanted the most and best Opera music for my money, I had to get this title, which is a double album, and "The Most Famous Opera Duets". Well, the latter was a steal with a list price under four dollars, and the former was a truly good compilation of many uplifting, diverse, impactful, and pleasant pieces. I am satisfied with my purchases and have filled the gap in my music collection. I can't see Opera getting better than this and the other title I mentioned. Enjoy!
- This is a wonderful background for any tension realeasing activity, like reading a book. So glad I purchased it.
- This music cd has really essential pieces of great operas. If you don't have many classical cds, why don't you buy this one and enjoy~? :)
- I am not an opera fan normally. But sometimes the music is so lovely that it's a pleasure to just sit and listen. That is what this disc is. Most of the music is gorgeous and although I don't understand a word of it I just love listening to it and enjoy it. I think anyone who loves beautiful music be it an opera fan or not will enjoy this cd.
- Rapture: Opera's Most Heavenly Moments
Absolutely fantastic! Stare into space and enjoy this music.

5 comments about Homogenic.
- Approaching the catalog of an artist as prestigious as Bjork is very difficult, and at first glance new listeners would want to stray from Homogenic in exchange for an album where she looks prettier on the cover. But this album is definitely one of her most serious, moving works and should be an eventual purchase for even casual fans. For the record, this is generally argued to be her best album, and although it may not be easy to listen to at first, the album stands out as being great if you can manage to give it a bit of a chance to open up. From the beginning dynamics of Hunter to the final touching words of All Is Full of Love, most everything on this album is very good and melodies are used to their full potential. But while this album pushes Bjork's songwriting ability to impressive lengths, it also expands her vocal finesse to it's most beautiful lengths. Her range and technique are wonderful as usual, but the amount of feeling she puts into her singing is what makes the album truly shine. I think the only problem anyone could ever have with her singing is her distinct Icelandic accent, which to some is wonderful while annoying to others. In any case, Bjork has enough talent to put tingles down even her critics spines. The album's clear highlight and strongest radio song is without a doubt Bachellorette, an unspeakably moving melancholy orchestral explosion. The consistency of this is also surprisingly reliable and the album stays true to it's unique style of icy melodies dotted with electronic touches. It may not be the easiest Bjork album, but if you simply want to go for the throat and nothing more, this will be the one you want to get.
- I love this album, but I don't feel like talking about it; instead, I was looking through what other people think of this album, and I came across the stupidest review I ever read on Amazon. Here it is so you don't have to look for it:
'This artist is really INSANE! If some so-called artists called this music "art" they're really wrong and crazy. I've been listening Bjork's music a lot of times and I couldn't find an answer to his physically disordered mind. This album gives you a clear idea of how A DISORDERED MIND can produce music.
Do not listen this music unless you have no sense of art and human spirit. This is not what european people listen everyday. Don't be fooled by the idea this is art-music. Go somewhere else, like Beethoven or Vivaldi music. Take this CD to trash!'
Wow, I can't say enough about this review, except for really bad grammar skills, and that anyone who thinks Bjork is a guy probably should just stay away from anything that doesn't sound like Nickelback.
- This collection of tracks is superb.
Perfection within the very notes and programming.
I love each song on this LP for different reasons.
Each song has it's own personality.
- I adore Bjork. Not only is she an amazingly beautiful and beguling woman, but she's one of the greatest musicians working today, and this is one of my favorite albums of hers. This was the first album of hers I got, and I still play the tar out of it. The opening song, Hunter, is filled with tension and beauty, but my favorite song has to be Joga, the 2nd track. The chorus is so powerful and moving, and the string section gives it a really beautiful feel. The final track, All is Full of Love, is wonderful as well. When Bjork sings, that voice penetrates your soul. It gets to you emotionally first, intellectually second. She has such an aura and a magnetism to her that is undeniable. Unfortunately, many in this country think of her in the swan dress at the Oscars (For the record, I love that dress. She looks adorable in it). It's easy to make fun of a real artist like her. She's immensely popular in the rest of the world (and with good reason). She is worth every accolade that has come her way. She is life, love, happiness, and sadness. She is universe...
- Bjork is absolutelly a genius. Bachelorette must be one of the most moving songs I know.

- i'm not a jay-z fan, but i like this album. lyrically he's one of the best in the business. too bad they don't make them like this anymore.
- If you don't have this one you should get it. This is HOVA in his raw'est form, and if you are a fan of pure hip hop before the dirty south mess'ed it up then you must get this cd.
- BOTTOM LINE:
Flows so futuristic, that it took nearly a decade for others to catch on and push this past platinum status. So far ahead of its time in terms of lyrics, content, flow and delivery - that The Source had to apologize years later and give it 5 Mics! Songs like 'Dead Presidents', 'Brooklyn's Finest' and 'Can't Knock the Hustle' are now considered all-time anthems.
That pretty much says it all.
A+ another hiphop Essential
- nowadays jay-z has established himself as very mainstream rapper. But I know a lot of people who listen to jay and haven't even heard of this album. 'Big Pimpin' 'Hard Knock Life' '99 problems' are all OK songs, but this album is where he really shines. to really understand an artist you have to dig deep and go beyond their famous hits. this was way back when jay-z was fresh in the game. a lot can change in a rapper over the course of 10 years.
this album flows like no other jay-z album. the beats and the lyrics go together perfectly. the hooks are better than any of his other albums. all the songs have a unique feel. this is old, authentic hip-hop from '96. probably the best song is 'Coming of Age'. jay raps with young memphis bleek and schools him on the world of crime and drugs. bleek is jay's protege is this song. they go back and forth rapping off each other. jay and memphis bleek are one of the best rap combo's i think, and this is their first song together. everything about it is tight. other great songs on here are: 'Politics As Usual' 'Feelin It' 'Friend or Foe' 'D'evils' etc.
HOWEVER: if u are into jay-z and only listen to his popular new stuff this may not be for you. it's old and sounds dated (that doesn't bother me, but some people don't like it). but still, this is one of the only true good jay-z albums and it remains that way
- this is undoubtly the best rap album ever....jay z at his rawest and his best.

5 comments about Josh Groban Live at The Greek (CD/DVD).
- I used to like Josh Groban, but this DVD made me turn my back on him so completely. Somewhere in his giddy success he has lost the gift of touching hearts, now he's just a platinum singing machine that's powered on by his fame and the highly-placed crowd he's associated with. Very boring.
- Leather pants? Josh was wearing leather pants at this concert? Hmmm. I'll just have to look at the DVD again, only this time more closely.
I recently bought this oldie for two reasons. First, I've gotten everything else I could find that Josh has put out, and second, it's the only thing available that has his cover of Linkin Park's "My December."
Josh's voice wasn't up to par on this DVD, but that doesn't mean it was terrible. It just wasn't at its glorious best. Many of the negative reviewers were a tad melodramatic, in my opinion.
This DVD is uneven. I thought the beginning of the concert was boring, but later there were some inspired numbers, including "My December." Yes, Josh sounded nasally during part of it, but shoot, I really didn't care. His performance was passionate, powerful, and stunning. I wish that I could get a studio recording of it.
Reading the negative reviews for this DVD was kind of amusing and kind of scary. It was like the people who hated it felt as if they had been betrayed, particularly because Josh didn't look or sound like he did on his first PBS special (which I agree was wonderful).
"Live from the Greek" came out in 2004. Four years later, Josh's voice and career are far from being in the toilet, despite the dire predictions from some of the reviewers here. His singing was exquisitely beautiful on the 2007 "Noel," which was the biggest selling Christmas album ever. Sales of the "Awake" CD have done quite well, too.
Released in May 2008, the "Awake Live" DVD of a concert before 15,000 people shows Josh to have grown into a polished performer with great stage presence and great vocals. However, it also is not in the style of the first PBS special. He's not going back, people. As for his appearance, he looks just as unkempt on "Awake Live" as he did at the Greek, only with fancier footwear (boots instead of athletic shoes). Some of us find the look adorable. Hundreds of thousands of us admire his mix of classical-style pop and an edgier pop sung in his golden voice, and we can hardly wait to hear what he does next.
"Live from the Greek" is part of Josh's developmental history as a performer, musician, and vocalist. That's why I'm glad to have it. That and because his version of "My December" kicks butt.
- I love this album! I got it for my sister. She really likes it as well. I don't understand why so many people trashed it. Yes, there were several non-english songs, but oh...the music and That Voice!
He just keeps getting better and better.
- Wow, I'm glad I listened to the commenters over at YouTube in choosing to purchase this DVD/CD, it's quite negative hereabouts! I have no beefs with the sound quality, JG's clothing, lightsticks, or flags! I have enjoyed watching the evolution in Josh's stage presence: he was just lovely in the first concert DVD, but it was very controlled and didn't reveal much about him. I love his personality and varied tastes, and how they started to come through on this first tour. The clips I've seen from the "Awake" tour show even more of that personality, I can't wait for that DVD.
I would have given this another 1/2 star for the wonderful violinist that is Lucia Micarelli, she is a wonder to behold!
I do agree that the first few songs were a little nasally, it's really too bad Josh was unwell and just goes to show that life isn't perfect, even for him! The nasal tone does go away as the concert goes on (maybe the medicine kicked in.) All in all, highly recommended...
- I LOVE this cd/dvd. The dvd is almost better than being at the actual concert!

5 comments about The East Village Opera Company.
- You'll love The East Village Opera Company. They add their own distinct sounds to such classics as Nessa Dorma. It is a great addition to your collection of Il Divo, Russell Watson, Amici Forever, Michael Amante, and 10 Tenors. Give it a shot I am glad I did. Also watch for them on tour.
- I went to see this group in person on Sunday and just had to order this CD right away, most of the songs they performed are on this. I did not think I was an opera fan until I heard it done by the East Village Opera Company, they just blew me away! I highly recommend this CD to everyone who loves good music.
- If you're interested in something that pushes a little, try this. Rock is about the beat, but it is also about the melody. This band has a huge presence on stage and on disk. They get it and they deliver a mix of artistry, melody, beat - and probably most impressive - the drama that both opera and rock share.
- this is a wonderful take on opera standard pieces.from the first song, a rocked up overture of Le Nozze Di Figaro to the last song E lucevan le Stelle. while remaining true to the original concept of the pieces, they add a delightful rock undertone that has you tapping your feet and nodding your head. it is well-known that opera was the 'pop' of its day during the time these pieces were written, this is a innovative cd.
- Thank you for sending my CD quickly. Packing was very professional and product was as described....PERFECT condition. Thanks

- Oh my god this a great one to add to the collection. Z-ro out done his self on this one. I really like #'s 5,8,9,2,and the rest you'll either grow on or ride to. Z-ro sings a whole lot better as if he's had voice lessons I would have loved to hear him and soulja slim or c-murder to do a cut together I'll keep buying. Z-ro stay out of prison so you can take over..
- this dude got too many classic albums not to get no love out here in this so called music scene...The boy is sick on the track...music for the soul is what it is...I believe uncle Pimp called em country rap tunes..too trill....dueces and treys up....SUC til the casket drop.....TEXAS
- Mayne, bump what a hata talking bout. The new ro is jamin and definitely throwed in the game mayne.
- Z-Ro returns with yet another album to add to his long catalog. He has a slew of solo albums and a few group albums; this is the 8th solo album of his I have as well as his album with Lil flip and one A.B.N. album. Of all of those they all get at least 4 stars, with about half getting 4.5 or 5 stars. He is one of the most consistent rappers out, and one of the most consistent that I have ever heard and I have around 900 hip-hop albums. On this one you get 15 songs, you get 4 songs that are ok, and the other 11 are good, a few being real good. Guests rap on 4 songs and do the hook on 1 more so you get a lot of Ro on here. Production is nice as well and handled mostly by Z-Ro himself, as he does 8 of the 15 songs. Mr. Lee does 3 songs, Bigg Tyme, Cory Mo, J Moses and Tone Capone all do a1 song. A nice album to have form one of the top rappers in the game.
#1 - 8 (long intro before the song starts)
#2 - 9 (nice song about a female)
#3 - 8.5 (f/ Mike D)
#4 - 7 (f/ Slim thug)
#5 - 7.5 (f/ Lil Keke)
#6 - 7.5
#7 - 7.5
#8 - 8.5
#9 - 8
#10 - 9 (nice beat)
#11 - 9 (f/ Mya - nice beat)
#12 - 8.5
#13 - 8.5 (f/ Paul Wall - good beat)
#14 - 8.5 (one of the few screwed up songs I like - great beat, over 9 minutes long, no hook)
#15 - 8.5 (good beat)

- i just opened dis cd. and was real excited to get it. (aint much else to look forward to in iraq) but was mildly dissapointed. it aint that the songs aint jammin. but from all his other albums (excluding the one before this one) true zro fans know he can do so much better. i love how he be doin them hooks, zro always had the hook game on lock, but its hard to tell where the verse end and the hook begin in this one. i think the people still wanna hear throwed heart felt lyrics, (with some blood sweat and tears in it) and then a cold hook. and yea he do be doin too many cuts from other songs. i can say it was better than POWER. BUT I THINK
Z-RO NEED TO GET HATED ON SOON. SO DAT BOY CAN GET RUTHLESS AGAIN.

- Most of my favorite tunes by Tina are on this and it is "Simply the Best".
- This album contains some of the most influential, well known songs of the dance era. Her powerful voice is one that has been copied by many, although most often, unsuccessfully. I put this album in when I need a little boost, or when I'm working out (yeah, right).
- Great collection of songs from multiple Grammy winner Tina Turner (also, with ex-husband Ike Turner, in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame) Forty Eight years ago, on August 29, 1960, Ike and Tina Turner hit 'The Billboard Hot 100' with 'A Fool In Love' which reached #27, Tina Turner's success has continued, just like Hillary Clinton's, who in the 2008 Presidential Primary race received more votes than any of her rivals, and more votes than any other Presidential Primary candidates in history.
- I love this CD. I keep it in my car and it is such a mood pick-me-upper. I play it and sing and dance while I drive and just SMILE!!! She is so terrific, and every single song makes it impossible to sit still.
- The songs on this in my opinion are not Tina's best songs. They are just ok.

- i like eric benet and enjoy this cd. i don't skip any of the songs.
- This is the best cd Eric Benet has made so far. Gorgy Porgy is the best song on this albumn. If you're looking for a good albumn throughout, this is the one.......A Day In The Life
- This is a very good cd, like the woman he had. I can not get into his newest cd because of that, for some reason, I do not know why.
- This is my favorite Eric Benet CD. Just put this in and push Play. Excellent from start to finish. Come As You Are is absolutely one of his best songs.
- No sophomore slump here. This is just good music through and through. Eric's smooth delivery is truely unique. He like Maxwell don't truely get the credit they deserve. I've always been surprised that this CD didn't make him a super star, instead he became Mr. Berry--and that didn't work out too well either. But this is about his music and this CD is good music.

5 comments about Halloween.
- I love Halloween, I love Mannheim Steamroller. But I don't love this album. Mannheim Steamroller is perfectly suited to Christmas music but they just don't get spooky right. Take a pass on this and buy another one of their Christmas albums instead.
- If it is the original music from the Masters that you are looking for, then this is not it for you. The style is bland and I wished that it had kick, as the original interpretations do. I would not suggest this. I wished that I had read reviews before purchasing this.
- I loved it, made Halloween more enjoyable,I look forward to using it again next year.
- I found this to be a really good CD. AS a huge fan of Halloween I wanted something I could play at work w/o totally freaking out my co-workers. It has the perfect amount of scare quality. Of course, I am a huge Steamroller fan!
- I only know M.S. from his Christmas music and I have to say that I enjoyed his take on Halloween tunes. If you liked his Christmas stuff needless to say you'll enjoy their all hallow's eve music.

- you would have to buy dozens of individual soundtracks to include even some of the music here. slight adjustment to john williams (for example) originals but well performed. outstanding variety. use these cds to jump start your day with triumph!
- I absolutely love this collection. It certainly matches its title. I use some of the music in workshops for movement and everyone has a great time moving through Goldfinger, Indiana Jones, Pink Panther, and the Stormtroopers! Hearing the Titanic hit the ice is bone chilling. It's a great compilation. Thank you!
- This music is a multi-CD pack that includes only instrumental music. I am a person who really likes this type of music. Many different movie music themes are included in this set including: mission impossible, Titanic, Superman, and others. Eric Kunzel is the main author of this collection but many others are also showcased. I highly recommend this set.
- The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra led by Erich Kunzel has recorded some of the best orchestral versions of film scores. This is indeed the ultimate collection and a good starting point to explore the many albums from epic soundtracks to gentle love themes; great silver screen classics to modern award winners.
- This collection of movie themes, will allow you to relive the chilling experiences from practically all (4 CDs)of the great movies. Great movies would not be great without great music. The Cincinnati Pop with Eric Kunzel are unbeatable recordings. Every minute is more beautiful and inspiring to the next. If you love Pops music, this is the begin all, end all.
