  1. "Missundaztood" is a good album by powerful singer Pink. Includes "Don't Let Me Get Me", "Respect" and "Eventually". Pink ("Stupid Girl") has become involved in the 2008 Presidential Race. Interestingly, in the 2008 Presidential Primary race, New York Senator Hillary Clinton earned more Votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in American history (hillaryclintonforum, the denver group)

  2. I would recomend this CD. Most songs are of the dance / pop style. Pink is still a bit young in sound and writing style but There are a few songs that show where Pink will be on her next CD which is more in the rock style.

  3. i love this CD....she is a really talented songwriter

i've played it about 5 times now and love it more each time

  4. Pink is a various artist. She can do it all. R&B, pop and rock. This CD is a good mixture of all three. My favorite track is the duet she does with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith "Misery". It has a bluesy feel to it. The perfect song to listen to when you fell kind of down and don't want to be cheered up at the moment.

  5. Pink's first recording is by far the best ever. She demonstrates what is in store for listeners to come in the future. Many of the songs are worthy of listening to over and over again. This is a truly fantastic example of Pink's vocal abilities and writing skills. This album is worth buying.

5 comments about Fender Presents: Getting Started on Electric Guitar -- A Guide for Beginners.

  1. I'm a beginner and for me this DVD is hard to follow now matter how many times I watch it, there are things that I can't understand when he talks about steps and stuff. I'll keep it maybe one day I'll have enough background to understand it.

  2. When I bought this product I thought I wouldn't be able to go far in learning the guitar because of the reviews that it was too challenging for someone my age. Of course, I was wrong. This dvd tells you important parts of playing the guitar. It also explains about the scales and more. After you have seen the contents of this dvd you will learn basic things like chords. You will need to buy books if you want to learn things that aren't covered in this dvd.

  3. I received an electric guitar for Christmas, and not knowing how to play a single note, I turned to this DVD. It really works! Although I would probably recommend some lessons, just for the sake of correction, this DVD is the right one to turn to if you can't afford them. I have learned notes, rhythms, picking, and chords all through this helpful DVD. It's almost like having Keith Wyatt sit down with you and go through the lessons! I especially like the practice track so that I can just sit down whenever I want to and practice chords and stuff without having to go through the whole lesson again. The DVD was a great help to me! I wouldn't recommend any other!!!

  4. This video helped me out alot. The instructor in the video goes slow to help slow learners like my self.

  5. Recommended for beginners players. Very good classes with sound and images (a DVD video from Keith Wyatt)

  1. It should be said that Sonny Landreth is blindingly fast on guitar. Yet, after trying to like this album for more than a week, I just do not. And the reason is that my ears detect no soul at all in his playing. I am reminded of several other virtuoso guitarists (Walter Trout and Johnny Winter most specifically) who make an awful lot of noise, but very little listenable music. I am also missing entirely the Blues aspect of this recording. It's rock-and-roll. A little more attention to melody and continuity, and less fret-finger acrobatics, would help a lot.

  2. this is about as high energy as a trio could get. But it's a lot more than just noise: excellent guitar work, solid vocals. not dinner-time music. but if you want music that will blow the roof off your head, this could be it.

  3. I caught Sonny on tour last year and thought he was great. Almost all the material from his performance is on this CD and it really showcases his music. I am really impressed with Sonny and his bandmates in concert and here on the CD. Sonny's voice has really improved over the years and is now a strength. Of course his guitar playing ranges from excellent to phenomenal as always. I think this CD really does catch Landreth at his best. Every fan should own this recording and it's a great place for any newcomers to Sonny's sound to start.

  4. Sonny Landreth has been kicking around for years and I've seen him as a member of John Hiatt & the Goners. My first exposure to him solo was at this years "Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival" outside of Chicago. After I got home that night, I immediately went onto Amazon.com and order his live CD "Grant Street". From the opening instrumental "Native Stepson" through the closing trck "Congo Square" this CD is filled with outstanding blues guitar playing and slide guitar playing as well. Other than being from Louisiana, I'm nt sure why he's classified as a country artist. This is pure bare bones Amrican power Blues. I like Sonny's voice too it blends wel with this style of music. He is backed by just a bass player and a drummer but the sound is full and brilliant. I will be purchasing more Sonny Landreth Cd's in the not too distant future.

  5. There's not a guy who's heard this CD on my stereo or iPod who hasn't asked, "Who is that playing the guitar?" Yeah, no kidding, Sonny Landreth is da bomb, and Grant Street is a fantastic CD. Buy it if you enjoy superb guitar playing, you could not possibly be disappointed.Grant Street

5 comments about 10 Days Out (Blues from the Backroads)/ (CD/DVD).

  1. This is an outstanding archival history of down-south backwoods blues, containing performances by legendary blues musicians, along with collaborations with Kennny Wayne Sheperd, Chris Layton and Tommmy Shannon
(both from Stevie Ray Vaunghn's "Double Trouble"). This is a 5 star classic blues documentary and performance DVD. It was named DVD of the year 2007, by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN. The performances were filmed throughout the south, on site at homes, front yards, BBQ's, a church and even a cemetary. The DVD was produced by Jerry Harrison, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and former member of the "Talking Heads".

It begins in New Orleans, with a performance of "Tina Marie" with Bryan Lee, and then a performance of "Born in Louisiana" with "GateMouth" Brown.
Then there is a performance of "Honey Tonk" with Buddy Flett filmed near Shreveport,LA at Morningport LA at the gravesite of the legendary "Leadbelly". Then its off to a BBQ in Indianola,MS the home town of B.B. King for a performance of "the Thrill is Gone". The blues journey continues to Gadsden, Al for a performance of "Potato Patch" by Jerry "Boogie" McCain. He plays great harmonica music!

Next, the blues journey is in North Carolina, the land of the Piedmont Blues, with a perfomance of "Prison Blues" with Cootie Stark and Neal
Pattman. Next, a performance of "Chapel Hill Boogie" with John Dee Holeman. Then, a performance of "U-Haul" with Cootie Stark. This a greart blues number, its about "I've searched and searched but I ain't never seen a U-Haul trailer behind a herse". There is a performance of "Knoxville Rag" with Etta Baker in her home. She speaks of the Peidmont Blues as being a "happier kinda blues".

The journey continues to St.Louis, where you get an interview with Henry Townsend. He actually played with the legendary Robert Johnson. He was originally from the Mississippi Delta. There is also an interview with Honeyboy Edwards, he was actually with Robert Johnson when he died.

Then its on to a "Blues" Church in Salina, KS, for a performance with Hubert Sumlin on guitar (Howling Wolf taught him to play without a pick),
also, George "Wild Child" Butler (of "Wolf's band) plays harmonica, and Henry Gray (of Wolf's band) plays piano and sings "Little Red Rooster". Next, the group plays "Spoonful". Then there's a performance of "Grindin Man" featuring "Pinetop Perkins" on piano and vocals and other members of "Muddy Waters' band. Then a performance of "Got my MoJo Working" by the same group.

The Dvd concludes with a summation by Kenny Wayne Sheperd along with Jerry Harrison. There are bonus performances also. This is an outstanding piece of "blues" and "american music" history. It's a 5 Star Classic.

  2. The DVD includes some wonderful dialog and impromptu tune playing that gave me bumps ans chills. These are blues pioneers with awesome experiences and talents to share with the world. Amazingly, four of these musicians died shortly after the recordings were completed. Got to watch this DVD if the blues mean anything to you. The audio disk is also a recording of quality and remembrance. Enjoy.

  3. Hats off to KWS and all the people involved in making this tribute cd happen. I bought this with good, but not great expectations. Happy to say, I was blown away after 1 go-through.

Watched the DVD first, and as many other reviewers have said, it alone is EASILY worth the price of admission. It was a very professionally done performance documentary and one I'll certainly view again. Listening to the audio cd always makes me think of the performer segments from the documentary.

Again, I couldn't be happier with this set. KWS is to be commended for paying tribute to these older, and largely ignored musicians. They still have so much to offer, and their music blows away any of the garbage found on the radio.

Way to go Kenny! Any possibility of a Volume 2?

  4. We really like this cd/dvd set and play it all the time. Kenny Wayne Shepard done a real good job at getting the older blues players on his CD/DVD. We recommend this to everyone that loves the blues. Our experience with Amazon.com was great, we got our order quickly and in great shape TY.

  5. I'm so glad Kenny Wayne put this CD/DVD together. I'm still learning who the true Blues singers/players are. I feel it is excellent he got together with these folks before they passed on. I will always treasure this gift Kenny Wayne has provided for us. I am truly grateful for the talent that has been shown to me.

  1. Didn't get excited about Magic Slim & the Teardrops the first time I heard them. Big, greasy Willie Johnson guitar work, Jimmy Reed slurred vocals, same fatback backbeat drums, nothing special about the setlist. Didn't get excited about Magic Slim & the Teardrops the second time I heard them, either, and so on and so forth through a lot of years to the present.
The thing is, during all those years, Willie Johnson and Jimmy Reed were passing away, and other road acts billing themselves as Chicago blues acts either lost track of the attitude or burned out. Magic Slim & the Teardrops are still enthusiastically at it, doing those songs that way because that's what they do and that's the way they like to do them, no matter who or what else they may see or hear.
They're not on a revival tour of their own better days; they never had better days. They've been solid blues craftsmen for a long time, and it's more of a joy and a relief to run into real craftsmen every day, because that breed is fading.
Strong band. Strong record. Thirteen classic tunes.

  2. Midnight Blues is a belated and much welcome new disc from Magic Slim and his Teardrops, and as usual they tear the roof off the mutha f$%^er with this set. Right off the bat 'Let Me Love You' kicks into overdrive, and Slim does Muddy Waters proud with two fine covers 'Can't Lose What You Never Had' and a little known number from his 'Hard Again' album called 'Cross-eyed Cat'.

He also revisits Hound Dog Taylor's 'Give Me Back My Wig' and carries on the tradition with pride! As usual, Slim's guitar playing is full of sting and those typical rapid fire notes. Even if his voice has weakened just a bit with age, he still has that gloriously wonderful growl. The only misstep may have been the country cover 'Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad'. Not that Slim doesn't play it well, it just seems out of character for his voice. As usual the Teardrops provide great backing, proving how a Chicago Blues BAND should sound like.

  3. New CD's by BB King, Buddy Guy, and Magic Slim all within a month. How great is that for blues fans? Magic Slim is every bit the national treasure as BB and Buddy. He has a long time association with Blind Pig records but his new album is by far his best. There are several big name guest stars on the album but the real star here is Magic Slim. This is classic, gritty, Chicago blues and there is not a weak song on the CD.

5 comments about Blues Deluxe.

  1. More outstanding blues rock from one of this country's top young blues guitar slingers Joe Bonamassa. On this, his 3rd album, Joe does an album of mostly covers. Bonamassa breathes fresh new life into tracks originally performed by blues masters like Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Elmore James, Albert Collins, Robert Johnson and others. He also throws in a few original tracks as well. This is a very good blues album in many ways. Bonamassa covers all kinds of guitar styles here on electric, acoustic and slide. His interpretations of blues classics pay homage to the original versions, but Joe is able to put his own stamp on all of them. His cover of John Lee Hooker's "Burning Hell" is especially effective. Bonamassa continues to be one of the great young new blues talents on the circuit today and this is another very good album.

  2. This phenom is getting major hype, huge kudos from newbies, some of it merited. He's got guitar chops, but is not original, and still has absolutely nothing on the generations of great blues guitar masters before him, whose stuff he's cobbled together into a slick commercial sound. Take the title track: Jeff Beck+ Stevie Ray Vaughan+ Buddy Guy+shreddy 80s/90s style is the end result, and you may still wind up thinking, hm, I've still heard better, more soulful, more honest. Go listen to some Guitar Slim, Roy Buchanan, Mike Bloomfield, Elmore James, the Kings, Icepick, etc. etc.

  3. Pandora picked it right! Now that I have DSL I can listen to Pandora internet radio at home, and my favorite "channel" is my SRV one. All Blues, all the time. Up comes Joe Bonamassa's "Blues Deluxe" album, and I'd never heard him before. Made me come to a complete STOP and go into a trance. This guy really has it. I wish I could go to a live concert with him and Stevie Ray Vaughn - it would be the ultimate blues show.
Had to come out of my trance just to do this review! SOLD!

  4. I'm gonna have to go back and listen to Jeff Beck's version of "Blues Deluxe," because it's rivaled by a damned fine rendition on this album! Hell, this whole album is great! A lot of killer electric blues, different styles of songs...it just never gets boring. Joe Bonamassa plays with a lot of grit and groove, and it makes the music very enjoyable and a helluva lot of fun to listen to. Good stuff!

  5. I just love listening to Joe Bonamassa on my satellite radio, so I got this one, after checking the various reviews.
Although I still think he is the greatest, this album is a bit stiffer, it is very "studio"... too practiced... but still a high quality album, just that I prefer the radio stuff.

  1. ok, beyond that 'WOW', I heard Rock Me Baby on the way to work, and had the CD as soon as Amazon shipped it! Love the man's range, style, voice and guitar. In fact, he's so awesome, I'm missing work to see him live this weekend, and if you knew me, you'd know that just doesn't happen!!
Have a feeling I'll soon be saying I saw him live before he owned Blues Rock. Buy this, NOW

  2. There are white blues guitarists trying to sound authentic(black) and there are white blues guitarists working from the foundation laid by the (white) blues rock power trios of the late `60s and early `70s(basically, Cream to 10 Years After). None of these guitarists are going to hell for their musical direction and preference. Albert Cummings happens to be of the latter general grouping.
He's been on the road and recording for some time and never put out a record this reviewer would call "bad." He chooses good material and still, from the sounds of Feels So Good, feels so good about challenging himself to excel on every song, phrase and lick.
What makes him fairly unique among the white power trio front man blues rock axmen is that he does songs and shows for the audience. Most of these guys, these days, are out to amuse themselves, to see how long they can delude themselves into thinking they're not repeating any phrases during that 192-bar solo. Albert Cummings, for all his love of fast, screaming electric guitar, loves to entertain and give his audience a great show just as much.
Is this release any better than his previous work on this or other labels? It's as good. One can't really say much more than that. He's a praise-worthy, purchase-worthy, look-for-him-on-tour-worthy guy.

  3. those who know Albert's music have already bought this, or are about to.. this "Jim Gaines" produced party disc is sure to become legendary like B.B.'s "live at the Regal" albert is in the rockin'est blues form ever.. His version of Led Zepplin's "ROCK & ROLL" is as good as the original but as only albert could deliver. You will have a great time as did the audience with this long awaited "LIVE" performance..the party starts when you hit "play"

  4. Wow, Rock blues fans will not be disappointed. albert brings it all home in
this outstanding performance. The audience has the most special enthusiasm
I have ever experienced from a live CD. A great mix of strong boogie to soothing ballad style blues and some of his unique blend of only albert.
Just got it yesterday, burned it and brought it to work for the guys to check out. Needless to say they loved it. Highly recommended!

5 comments about Texas Flood.

  1. Stevie Ray sings and plays from the heart. Great first cd for anyone. Imagine what kind of jams he would be pulling down today!

  2. Stevie Ray Vaughan was, without a doubt, the greatest Blues-Rock guitarist of all-time. However, I'd like to stress the term, "Blues Rock", and not "Blues". He was not a Bluesman. Being a Bluesman requires more than just playing Blues guitar licks very fast and accurately. On this album, his singing is solid, the music makes the listener move his/her feet, the guitar playing is frantic and a great deal of fun, and Vaughan simply comes across as having an original image and sound. The album is available for a very cheap price on Amazon.com, so you should definitely pick it up. This is Vaughan's best album. Although I detest him being considered "the best Bluesman", he was still a great musician and I would have loved to have seen him live in concert. His pre-mature death will remain one of the greatest tragedies in music history. "Pride And Joy", "Texas Flood" and "Rude Mood" are all excellent. Fenton Robinson also performed "Texas Flood" on his "Somebody Loan Me A Dime" album, and it sounds a great deal different than it does on this album.

  3. I remember reading about this smoking guitar player out of Austin Texas in early 1983. Couple months later I was in the record store and I looking for a new guitar album to buy. I look down and see this guy with a strat and a gun slinger look. Then I remembered what I read. So of course I bought it. Put it in my cassette player in my car and was totally blown away. That tone, those smoking licks and solo's. That was really the last time I was really blown out of the water by a guitarist. I mean, who can live up to this guy. He was the whole package. Great songs, good vocals, great rhythm section. I think SRV is the best blues rock guitarist to walk on this planet. I miss him....

  4. even though im 16 i think that S.R.V. was one of the best Guitarist to ever Play. HE IS A FRIGGIN LEGEND!!

  5. There is more heart and soul on this album than you will ever hear on today's radio. SRV was an incredible guitar player.

5 comments about The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.

  1. Some of the tracks on this splendid, reasonably priced 2 CD-set could peel paint off road signs. Self-taught, unable to read a note of music, Stevie Ray Vaughan displays technical virtuosity that at times seems almost Faustian, it's hard to believe that what you're hearing is even possible. Most of all, SRV is a complete Texas blues package, his singing is excellent, his command of the blues idiom so total one imagines he must have dreamt blues as well as lived them - everything works, right down to the outfits and soul patch.

In a sense, SRV was the brightest hope of a next generation of blues masters. He picked his idols wisely, patterning himself after Albert King, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, among others. However, there are also strong rock overtones here, most notably the influence of Hendrix who he clearly worshipped. The several Hendrix covers attest to this - they are actually not the best parts of this effort although Little Wing is marvelous. The others prove that SRV could recreate the Hendrix sound - which in itself is an amazing achievement - but add nothing new.

SRV was discovered by legendary virtuoso Johnny Winter, who retains the title of Texas blues heavyweight, and also frequently crossed over to rock. There will be those who will claim SRV outstrips Winter, I can't agree, but I would say they belong in the same sentence. In life, Vaughan was unable to outlive irony. Decades of chronic drug and alcohol abuse took him to death's door where he made the decision to get clean. He did, and was enjoying success as a sober man, only to die in a helicopter crash. It's a tragic story, but he certainly left us with some incendiary, thoroughly satisfying music. I guess that really is why they call it the blues. Highly recommended.

  2. This album is a must own for any one who enjoys anything by SRV. There is a reason they called it the essentials!

  3. There's just nobody else out there that can do it like Vaughan. This is a great sampling of his recordings, too, and makes a good starting point for those just getting into Vaughan's music.

  4. The title says it all, "Essential". SRV will be missed by anyone who marvels at guitar magic. The music on this album is a huge cross section of Stevie Ray's work, and there are some real wonders here. I've even discovered a new favorite and my wife has become a fan too. Anyone who appreciates fantastic guitar work will love this album. Enjoy.

  5. hey srv fans if your only looking to buy one cd and this is the one. it does a pretty good job of summing up the 4 studio albums and live album he released during his life it even includes tracks from his posthumous album that was released after his death and some tracks he recorded with his brother.i know all fans have personal fav. they would have liked to see make it but thats just how these things go. so whether your looking for a good retrospective or are just a casual fan looking to dig a little deeper this is the set for you. also of intrests for fans looking for extra live or unreales tracks is the 3cd srv box set

5 comments about Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985.

  1. This is a true "classic" double dvd,(two disc), with two concerts of Stevie Ray, and Double Trouble performing at the Montreux Jazz Fesival.
It is a masterpiece of "blues-rock" guitar work by Stevie Ray. It also contains bonus material of a documentary interviews with Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, Jackson Browne and John Mayer.

Concert one July 17, 1982, the line-up is Stevie Ray on electric guitar and vocals, Tommy Shannon on bass and Chris Layton on the drums. (This was before they added a keyboard player). The set list consists of 8 songs, includeing the classis: "Pride and Joy", "Texas Flood", and "Love Struck Baby". The performances are outstanding, but they get "booed" off stage. However, David Bowie was in the audience and he was impressed with Stevie's guitar Skills, so he got him to play on Bowie's "Let's Dance" album of 1982.

Concert two - July 15, 1985 and the line up consists of Stevie Ray on guitar and vocals, Tommy Shannon on bass, Chris Layton on drums, and Reese Wynans on keyboards. There are also guest appearances with Johnny Copeland, also from Texas. The set list consists of 13 songs. The concert is outstanding, and the fans love it this time. Some "classic's " performed include: "Pride and Joy", "Mary had a Little Lamb", "Cold Shot" (with Johnny Copeland), "Tin Pan Alley" (with Johnny Copeland), "Look at Little Sister" (with Johnny Copeland), "Voodoo Child" and they are called out for an encore which includes "Couldn't Stand the Weather".

Concert two above shows Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at their very best. This is a true classic 5 star concert. Stevie Ray was a guitar master, and this concert dvd shows it.

If you like great "blues-rock" guitar music, then I highly recommend this one, you won't be disappointed.

  2. Great dvd set. Two excellent shows. A must for any Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble fan.

  3. A legend in my time - rocks and thumps to a beat only he can drive home.. recommended . A great visual treat for Stevie fans....

  4. This is a fantastic Stevie Ray Vaughan show which shows the true guitar skills of Stevie Ray. Any true fan will need to own this show simply to hear his masterfuil guitar shredding. The sound quality isn't great, but at a normal level of sound, it's fine. The only problem is the bass is a little off when you turn it up.

  5. I'm a long time fan of SRV and Double Trouble. This DVD shows his big break at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982. I recommend watching the 15 minute documentary on disk 1 before watching the show. It gives the background information on the show itself, the fact that David Bowie and Jackson Brown were in the audience that night, and tells about the jam session that Jackson Brown and his band had with SRV and his band that lasted all night long!! David and Jackson were blown away as you will be with the awesome raw talent and never endning chops that SRV demonstrated everytime he played. What will shock you the most, is the fact that some people in the crowd were actually BOOING SRV the entire show and when he left the stage in 1982. SRV was crushed by this, but his future track to stardom was set in motion that night because David Bowie and Jackson Brown knew pure talent when they saw it! Thank goodness they were there, otherwise we might have never known what we would miss in this legendary Blues guitarist. SRV comes back in 1985 to Montreux as the headliner as it only took a couple of years for him to be recognized as the guitar god he truly was. I put this DVD set at the very top of my list for MUST have!! You will too once you get it, the price is unreal on Amazon, places like Best Buy wanted 4 times the money for it, you can't go wrong for the content of this set, and the price at Amazon won't dent your pocket book, it's a WIN WIN no matter how you look at it! GET THIS DVD!!
