5 comments about Baby Einstein - Baby Mozart - Music Festival.

  1. This product was recommended to me by my cousin. It has been well worth the $15-and then some. My son loves it-and has loved it since he was 3 months old. He's now 11 months and will still sit & watch it. I actually enjoy watching it myself-it's very intriguing. The music is wonderful-so peppy and spirited. This is our favorite Baby Einstein dvd. I have purchased several as shower gifts for new mom's. Love it!

  2. I got this video for my daughter when she was 6 months old. She watched it a little then, but now that she is older (11 months) she really loves to watch it.

  3. After swearing that I would adhere to the pediatrician's recommendation to keep my son away from the TV until he was two, I broke down and ordered the oh-so touted Baby Einstein DVD for my 4 month old. After all, I needed time to do things around the house and my son is not a napper.

Well, after 5 minutes of watching the video with my son, I was horribly motion sick and he was completely uninterested. I mean he literally glanced at it 2 or 3 times and promptly looked away. And why wouldn't he? The video is stupid--bad closeups of cheap crap that someone decided would hold the attention of a baby? Backrounded by horrible renditions of classical music classics.

Do yourself a favor, buy a REAL Mozart CD, put it on and click on the Weather Channel. The moving maps and quick graphics hold my son's attention, and show him the states and cities on top of that. He might acutally learn something in that hour rather than be "entertained" by really bad graphics and cheap objects on a black screen.

  4. My baby loves this video. I've even caught my husband, as well as my 8-year-old daughter peering over her book watching this video.

  5. Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.

Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any TV during her early, crucial, developmental years. We only watch TV when our little girl is asleep.

Update: France just banned TV programming directed at infants.

    From the Associated Press:

    updated 3:35 p.m. ET, Wed., Aug. 20, 2008

PARIS - France's broadcast authority has banned French channels from airing TV shows aimed at children under 3 years old, to shield them from developmental risks it says television viewing poses at that age.

The High Audiovisual Council, in a ruling published Wednesday, said it wanted to "protect children under 3 from the effects of television."

France's minister for culture and communication, Christine Albanel, issued a "cry of alarm" to parents in June about channels dedicated 24 hours a day to baby-targeted programming. In a newspaper interview, she called them "a danger" and urged parents not to use them to help their children get to sleep.
    Story continues below advertisement

She was referring to two foreign channels that can be seen in France on cable television, BabyFirstTV and Baby TV.

The council's ruling aims to prevent the development of such programming on French channels. It also orders French cable operators that air foreign channels with programs for babies to broadcast warning messages to parents. The messages will read: "Watching television can slow the development of children under 3, even when it involves channels aimed specifically at them."

The ruling cites health experts as saying that interaction with other people is crucial to early child development.

"Television viewing hurts the development of children under 3 years old and poses a certain number of risks, encouraging passivity, slow language acquisition, over-excitedness, troubles with sleep and concentration as well as dependence on screens," the ruling said.

  1. Maybe this is the older version, but there is no spanish track to this video.

  2. It's great for my son but it is NOT 72 minutes long like it said when I bought it. I was looking for one that was the longest because for 15 bucks you don't want only 30 minutes. Well i got 24 minutes instead of 72 minutes for $15. I suggest buying used because $15 for 24 minutes is a HUGE ripoff.

  3. It keeps her very entertained with colors, music, and sounds. Very educational and will definitely buy more from Baby Einstein!

  4. I think the Baby Einstein products are amazing. Why not start early letting your children watch and listen to something very worthwhile. My three year old grandson has graduated to Little Einstein and now sings all the classical melodies.

A recent study has found a worrying correlation between TV viewing and autism.

    Source -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,222481,00.html:

Too much TV time for toddlers may trigger autism, according to a study by Cornell business professors.

Over the past few decades, there's been an amazing increase in the number of children diagnosed with autism. Some experts think this is due to broader diagnostic criteria for autism. Some point to vastly increased services for autistic children. Others think that something in the environment is triggering an autism epidemic.

It occurred to Cornell University management professor Michael Waldman, PhD, that the increase in autism cases came at the same time as increased opportunities for very young children to watch TV. Could it be, he wondered, that the explosion in children's TV programming, DVDs, VCRs, and video/computer games is behind the explosion in autism diagnoses?

Waldman asked his colleagues in the medical world to look at the issue. Nobody would. So he assembled a research team and did the study himself -- using tools more often seen in economic studies than in medical studies. The results bolstered his suspicions.

"We are not claiming that we have definitive evidence. But we have evidence that is awfully suggestive of a link between TV watching and autism," Waldman tells WebMD. "Someone should nail this down one way or the other."

Waldman will present the study at this week's National Bureau of Economic Research health economics conference.

What Raises a Baby's Risk of Autism?

    Rain, Cable TV, and Autism

Autism is usually diagnosed when a child is about 3 years old. Any effect of TV watching would have to happen before that age. But few studies, Waldman found, have compiled statistics on the TV habits of U.S. toddlers.

But there are statistics, compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, on when families watch TV, and on how much TV they watch. These statistics show that toddlers watch more television when it's raining outside than when it isn't raining.

Waldman and colleagues then looked at county-by-county autism rates in California, Oregon, and Washington. All three states have huge regional variations in annual rainfall. Sure enough, Waldman found that autism rates tended to be higher in the rainiest counties.

"We ran the tests a number of different ways, and basically every way we run it, we get the same thing. If it rains more, autism goes up. If it rains less, autism goes down," Waldman says. "That is a fine theory by itself, but still one can't be sure it is TV and not some other indoor toxin that is to blame."

So the researchers did a second test: They looked at the percentage of houses that subscribed to cable television in California and Pennsylvania. Cable television, Waldman reasoned, was linked not only to more TV watching, but also to the availability of more programming for very young children.

Sure enough, they found that areas with the most cable TV subscribers had the most autistic children.

"Our view is there is no obvious thing correlated with both rain and cable TV access except television viewing," Waldman says.

Until more direct studies confirm or disprove this conclusion, Waldman and colleagues recommend that parents follow the American Academy of Pediatrician's recommendation of no TV before age 2, and no more than an hour or two of TV a day for older children.

  1. This CD is awesome! My 19 month old nephew loves it, and my 2nd grade class begs to listen to it! Wonderful for children!!

  2. I don't have kids of my own but I'm a teacher so I have a class full. The kids love it when I turn this on and songs like "First day of school" help remind me of the preciousness of my cargo. "Calling All Movers" and "Big" in particular get them excited about movement activities and brain gym work. It's an all around good buy.

  3. My children enjoy the Imaginary Movers on the Disney Channel and now they sing along on road trips.

  4. Got this CD for my nephews birthday party. The kids loved it and my nephews dances to it regularly.

  5. My son is 3 years old and he loves this CD. We have a "dance party" and just go crazy. He loves the songs "jump up" and "what's in the fridge?." And, I don't mind listening to it either- yeah! Very fun upbeat music. I would highly recommend this CD especially if your child likes to dance.

  1. My daughter loved this DVD at 8 months and loves it even more at 17 months! This Baby Einstein DVD is the best one she's seen - lots of animals and music. It keeps her dancing, pointing and laughing.

  2. My 20-month old son loves this video! We've had it for a few months now and he still enjoys it every time! His favorite part is the handpuppets, but he gets excited over the tractors, the chickens, the children...basically everything in this video. And I love watching it too!

  3. Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. 4. I bought a copy of this one two years ago, but unfortunately my son damaged it. He loved it so much I decided to buy it again. I bought the new release of the dvd thinking it was probably better than the original. I was very dissapointed to find out that the language tracks are not available, even though it plainly states it on the back of the dvd case! I love the Baby Einstein series because its a great way to keep Spanish in my child's life. I would not have bought it again if I had known that the language features were no longer available. False advertising!!! If youre gonna do something, do it right or dont do it at all.

  5. My 9 month old daughter is absolutely thrilled to watch this video ..esp the cow !! Its great when I have to leave for work and need to divert her attention .. it should help her get some knowledge when she grows older ..

5 comments about Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas basically defines Halloween, what better way to have Halloween with you always then this CD? Load onto your iPod and it's good to go. The 3D cover art is really cool along with both CD's. The first CD is the original soundtrack and it's pretty much amazing. From The Overture to The End Title all the music is fantastic and clear as crystal. The second CD is remixes and demos. Most of the remixes are really cool. The only two I don't like are Sally's Song by Fiona Apple and Kidnap The Sandy Klaws by She Wants Revenge. I prefer Catherine O'Hara's version of Sally's Song and Kidnap The Sandy Klaws sounds way better when the cast sings it. All in all a great CD from a great movie. If your a fan of the movie, don't miss out! Buy this CD and you will not be disappointed!!

  2. i waited about 5 weeks for this cd (i live in germany, thats why it took so long) but it was damn worth it!!!!

on the first cd are all the original songs from the movie and on the second are the most important songs (e.g. "this is halloween", "whats this") performed by artists like panic at the disco, fall out boy or marilyn manson...

for all who love the movie is this cd a "must-have"!!!!

  3. Having searched all around for this CD, I was quite pleased to find it on Amazon at a great price. The CD arrived before the estimated delivery date and was a good shape. This is a great CD for Halloween.

  4. Danny Elfman is the best and this is great double holiday CD!! If you love the movie you'll love singing along to this!

  5. I'm very glad to have purchased Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack special edition.

The demo songs on disc two are very neat to listen to when compared to the finished products. This is a must-have for any Danny Elfman fan.

  1. I have watched this movie many time with my grandchildren and by myself. It is just a feel good movie and very entertaining. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

  2. I bought this DVD the day after I saw the movie in theatres. Truly, the songs are enchanting and I am happy so many of them were nominated for the Oscar's "Best Song". They are in true Disney fashion with just a hint of tongue-in-cheek. The instrumentals are lovely as well, but not nearly as great as the songs. However, this is worth Amy Adam's lovely voice.

  3. My whole family truly enjoyed the movie, "Enchanted" and we really wanted to be able to sing the wonderfully addictive songs. I purchased this CD to listen in the car with my daughters and we sing like crazy. They frequently ask to bring the CD into the house so that they can sing and dance at the same time. It is a really fun CD for the kids and the adults. Very cute.

  4. If you loved the movie like my wife and I did, and loved the music, you'll love this disc. If you didn't love the movie (or the music), then this probably isn't the right purchase for you. If you haven't seen the movie (or heard the music), I would suggest you see the movie first. Then make up your own mind.

  5. If you enjoyed the movie, the CD is awesome! All the tunes bring back that silly happy feeling you had while watching the movie. My children especially love it and I am excited that they have the exposure to theatrical show tunes!

  1. This soundtrack is so fun. It's a great summer CD to have and celebrate having fun.

  2. Having listened to endless kid/tween/teen CDs over the years, I can honestly say this one is by far the best. Each song is completely different so you don't feel like you are hearing the same song over and over again. I don't mind the Hannah Montana CDs but after a while the songs all seem to run together in my head. Maybe it's because there are several different artists singing. Every song is catchy and for the most part very upbeat so it makes drives so much more enjoyable for me and the kids.

If you are trying to choose between HSM, Hannah, Jonas Brothers, etc., I'd highly suggest picking this one!

  3. Bought for kids they love it. But You should check out Robbie Nevil's Music very nice mix of R&B and Rock

  4. CD quality as described and promised however it took FOREVER for it to get shipped to me.

  5. I bought this for my niece as a birthday present and she loved it! She is in love with Zac Effron who plays Troy. She has everything HSM and I was pleased to see her so happy with her gift.

5 comments about The Best of Both Worlds Concert (CD + DVD).

  1. Awesome item!! This was a well loved gift. Sure to please any tween or teen. Daughter still plays it over & over again!

  2. The DVD is not worth of anything. My daughte loves Hannah Montan but she did not bother to watch 2nd time.

  3. When you see the DVD that comes out in August, you'll want 3D glasses so be sure and be ready or find the ones you had...just a hint, since some panicky girls didn't have them when that show debuted on television recently.

This particular music and DVD featured on Amazon has only a short DVD. However, the girls I know didn't really care. They loved it anyway. The bottom line for this particular reviewer is that I have to keep that in mind when rating this. From a dollar value or deceptive ad viewpoint, the DVD is not a full concert performance. Consider yourself duly informed.

From the perspective of someone watching some girls having fun listening to the music and watching the short DVD, I'd say it was worth every penny. Your results may vary, depending on your feelings about the music and DVD package and the reactions of Hannah Montana fans in your home.

  4. I bought this Hannah Montana CD for my granddaughter's birthday. She was thrilled. She and her friends spend hours listening to it and dancing and singing to it. It was the perfect choice for her.

  5. My daughter begged me for this the day it came out. Well, I did end up getting it but was very dissapointed with the music and the DVD. The only good song is Rock star. Everything else sounds like edited versions of Hannah songs over screaming teeny bopers. Also don't listen to this really loud. There is one over excited fan that was to close to the recording mic who is screaming her head off! The DVD wasent that great to be honest :(. My daughter was pritty dissapointed overall but hey at least it keeps her quiet on those long car rides :)

  1. i like hannah montana but i like video games better so if you have a nintendo ds go out and buy a hannah montana game. ps,the dogz game for gameboy is even better!!!

  2. What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is the latest dropping from the gigantic byzantine money-making machine called the music industry. Forget the cute little girl's face on the cover, or that she, in some sense at least, sang the songs. She really has nothing to do with it. Its about seperating you from your money. Its product. This is the same recording industry that robbed every classic blues, soul, and R&B singer, got in trouble for payola, even very recently, and wants to charge you 20 clams for a CD. This is the same recording industry that sues housewives for illegally downloading a song they heard on Gray's Anatomy. And here's their product. They cynically attach a blonde little girl to it and make it sound like whatever Kraft brand music happens to be popular at the time. They know you'll buy it.

And don't give me that "It's just for kids, chill out!" stuff either. Kids deserve better. Kids who listen to cheese grow up to be mindless drone adults who listen to cheese. Do yourself a favor: get limewire and download as many songs as you want- its time for some karma on the recording industry. There's also TONS of great kids music out there on small labels.

  3. This C.D. has better songs than first (looking back) most of the better songs are on the Miley Cyrus part but whatever. But still I think most of it is okay for a few days and then it grows annoying. It's sort of childish to me

  4. the deliverie was good and my daugther face was incredible when she receibe the product.....im happy to purchase it in amazon...

    best regards

  5. The songs are catchy without being repetitive and annoying. I thought I would hate the CDs but they really grew on me quickly and I don't mind listening to them and it keeps the kids happy!
