  1. I was given this wonderful 3 disc set as a gift. I've listened to the CDs over and over and honestly know as an avid lover of dance music, this is the original! The background instruments are excellent as with the same sound I've heard for several decades. Thanks for the gift of wonderful, original music!

  2. I did not realize this until the second I took the plastic wrap off and couldn't return these CD's. These songs are not by the original artists. They are all done by the Countdown Dance Masters. If you are seeing this as a "Too Good to be True Deal" you are right. The covers are decent, but only if you don't know what the originals are like. If you want something like the originals, find it somewhere else. If you haven't heard the original, or just want something similar, then you can't go wrong with the set at the price.

  1. Based on the music on All Songs Considered and the fact that so many of the snippets NPR plays are songs I love, I was fully prepared to adore this entire collection. Sadly, it's far too bland. Tribalistas, Clinic, The Decemberists, Austin Lounge Lizards, are all bands I discovered thanks to NPR but the songs on these album live up to the stereotype of NPR being overly mellow.

  1. I mean i bought this lasts night and i must say its pretty good. Its one of those cds that you just sit and chill to in your room and think about everything around you. Or atleast it does that to me. But if you are looking at buying it i picked a copy up at Best Buy and they had it for ( $12) so i def def suggest checkin your local one out. I asked the guy why it was so cheap and he was like "i dunno" so im not going to complain.

  2. This 3CD Set compilation is great first of all because of the artist that are put in it, going from Rank 1 to Blank & Jones to Mauro Picotto, can't get better than any of this, this cd is filled with great melodic and soft trance, that is so uplifting that you'll never want to set your finger on the pause button.

  3. Really really disappointing! If you looking for something similar to Gatecrasher Discotech set or Global Sound System, you won't find it in this one. This one is very dark, heavy, pounding tek-trance style. Although mixing is pretty good, on the other hand it's a lot easier to mix heavy trance. For those of you who really liked the Discotech set, skip this one, save youself disappointment and money.

  4. There are heavy techno dance disks; there are trancier blissouts... though the quiet disk 3, which is like Pink Floyd on ecstasy is pretty much up there; but this collection moves beyond Gatecrashers more commercial tendencies into a more blissed out drift, which has moments of such sweetness, whilst not compromising on relentless beat. It is a desert island disk. A must have. I couldn't live without it.

    Highlight cuts include;
Universal State of Mind's "All Because of You"... slow trance build into bliss, with the growing rising beat... pure heaven
Bassmen's "Sending SOS"... picking up on the euphoric elements of the Police track "Message in the Bottle"
DJ Wag's "Life on Mars"... a dark foreboding intense dance trip across the universe
Mauro Picotto's "Bangkok"... with Picotto's normally extraordinary insistent pounding beat

  5. There are some definite impact songs offered in this 3 pack party from Gatecrasher that will find there way into the best clubs that spin house and trance (some already have)! Songs like "Troy" (WOW!!! Sinead will plaster you to the ceiling and not let you come down), "Godd" (an amazing edgy hard hands in the air finish for any CD), "Club Bizzare" (the hardest rippin mental trance danceable in the set), "Suburban Train" (which has already seen some exposure on other mixes but a classic) are just some of the goodies that will definitely make you sweat and bounce. The mixing throughout is solid and tight but "some" of the filler songs are a little boring. Like any hot mix in this genre, a five star rating should be reserved for those golden CD's that you find yourself playing from start to finish without skipping around...that's why I give this 3 pack a four....great songs but you will want to skip around to find them !! HOWEVER the Chill CD is a pure dream and waaaaaaay better than the one offered on the Gatecrasher Digital (the black counterpart 2002 release)...I'm not a huge chill fan but this one is the goods !! You will feel like you are floating on this super silky smooth mix !!! Gatecrasher Experience 2002 pulls together some hot club dance-lovelies for the raver in all of us plus finishes with super smooth chillin'....overall a solid 4 lollie rating with only slight deductions made for the hefty price tag and the inability to maintain intensity....then again you do have to take a breath from time to time!!

  1. I really liked this double disk cd, it made me wanna dance and it took me back to my San Fransisco days :)

  2. I have to inform all of you (at least those who are interested in dance music at all) of this amazing three-disc set mixed together by Blaze for the Soul Heaven. I don't know if I have the proper qualifications to really get into why you should get it but it's just good stuff. I'm not the biggest club goer and I've been out of the scene for a while now but I have been going to the Turntables on the Hudson parties here in NYC as of late and this set definitely appeals to that crowd.

Each disc has a good amount of songs that you can play over and over and Blaze is one of the most consistent groups (consisting of Kevin Hedge and Josh Milian) anyway in terms of their releases, so automatically this is a purchase to be seriously considered. It's soulful, it has great tracks and the transitions from track to track are flawless.

This is a very tight mix for those who appreciate artists like Masters at Work, Gilles Peterson, Jeannie Hopper, Erick Morillo, Kings of Tomorrow, Danny Krivit, Joe Clausell, Armand Van Helden and Larry Levan.

  3. I've purchased house CDs where I have been excited about its contents, only to be disappointed when place it in my CD player. That is not the case with Soul Heaven. It is soulful underground at it's best. I can actually enjoy every cut and feel like I am at Club Shelter (NY). Other compilation producers should take note as this is how a CD should be produced. While the 3rd CD is full of Blaze music that I already own, the CD is excellent CD from start to finish. Enjoy!

  1. For those who are just discovering this phenomenal band, you are in for quite a treat. Stars Die is the perfect place to start if you have heard Deadwing or In Absentia, and want to hear more of the band's earlier works. Not only that, but the set works quite well as an album itself. I own all of the early works, but still listen to my Stars Die set quite a bit, as I like the way the tracks flow from one to another.

Most importantly though, it was recently announced on the band's website that this version of the Stars Die box set is going out of print soon. Snapper UK will be replacing it with a new digipack version. The new digipack will include the same audio material. (with the exception of Up the Downstair and Fadeaway, which will be replaced with the new versions found on the 2004 remaster of Up the Downstair) However, the new version will not include the lengthy history of the band found in the booklet in this version. If you are in any way interested, I highly recommend that you purchase this version now.

  2. I LOVE PT & HAVE ALOT OF THEIR CD'S ALREADY BUT READING THE REVIEWS ON THIS MADE ME HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT GETTING IT.WELL I JUST DOVE IN & GOT IT.I WAS NOT DISAPPIONTED,EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST 3 TRACKS.I'M SURE THEY WILL GROW ON ME BUT IT MAY TAKE ALITTLE WHILE.THE REST OF THE 2 CD SET IS A-1 PT.DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ,SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO DIVE RIGHT IN.THIS IS A MUST HAVE IN MY OPINION.SOME UNRELEASED TRACKS & SOME EXTENDED VERSION.RECORDED VERY WELL.I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS GROUP.I STARTED LISTENING TO THEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO & CAN'T GET ENOUGH.I REALLY LOVE THESE GUYS.THEY DO PUT OUT SOME FANTASTICLYIMPRESSIVEGREAT MUSIC.I HOPE THEY ROCK FOR A LONG TIME...

  3. There is no waste. You can buy with closed eyes. Amazing.
Steven Wilson is a genius, time will tell.

  4. This is a very nicely packaged 2-CD compilation of the band's early releases on the UK Delerium label. CD1 is mostly Steven Wilson as one-man-band, while CD2 finds the rest of the latter-era members joining up as the tracks progress.

Porcupine Tree's early discography is a daunting, hard-to-find and expensive mess, so even though some good songs might be missing here, it's still a great way to get a ton of the early stuff in one set.

The box and accompanying book are just beautifully done. PT's music pays homage to the Prog greats of the 70's and so does their album art. The hard-cover box is so nice it should be standard for this type of comp. The book is full of great pictures, a history of the band, track notes that are actually accurate, and it even sort-of makes sense of that jumbled discography.

"The Sky Moves Sideways (phase 1)" is just plain awe-inspiring, probably my all-time PT favorite. Required listening for Progheads. Other standouts include "Nostalgia Factory," "Up the Downstair," "Stars Die, "Waiting" and "Signify 2."

  5. This is a really awesome collection from one of the smartest and most eclectic rock bands ever to record music. Their earlier material was more psychadelic rock, sort of like Pink Floyd. And there later stuff was more experimental prog rock, like a compination of Opeth, Dream Theater, Theatre of Tragedy, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Genesis. I kknow that sounds like a lot, but really shows its eclectic side of aweseomness. Now If you have ever Porcupine Tree album, you still need this. This has some new mixes of certain track and unreleased material. As well as a huge booklet of interveiws a biography and some really awesome pictures and art. And its a pretty cool case too.

Do yourself a favour and get this really cool box from a really talented band.

  1. track listing mostly says it all, but you do indeed get a couple of remixes and 12" versions here. Aside from the Shannon and Jackie Moore 12" versions, the Liza Minnelli Losing My Mind remix is indeed the full 7 minute 12" version, Wishing On a Star by the Cover Girls is the hip-hop style 12" mix of their ballad, and the HQ2 club mix of Jade Anderson's "Sugar High" is also the 7 minute long version. For the price, that's not for amount of trax you get along with these 12" versions.http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/x-locale/communities/reviews/preview-your-review.gif

  1. I wish I would have read the reviews... This was so bad! As a gift for my daughter, she was sad that it was not the original artists!

  2. These are ALL fake artists doing REALLY, REALLY bad imitations of the originals. It's so embarrasing. The only real song is "More, More, More" by The Andrea True Connection, so I guess she must have been hurting for some residuals. Ouch!

  3. I had bought this somewhere else and didn't realize that the songs are performed by a random group...NOT the original artists. They did a fairly good job, but it's just not the same as hearing the original artists. I was very disappointed.

  4. This thing was terrible. I thought I was buying a compilation of cool disco tunes by the original artists. I wasn't. It was BAD cover music. If I had wanted to hear someone else sing these songs, I could have listened to myself sing them in the shower for free, and it would have been better. You should have some kind of warning that even though, the original artists' name is indicated next to the song on the outside package of the disc, that definitely isn't who is singing it. It was a pretty flagrant misrepresentation.

  5. This collection sucks! It is not the original artists... it sounds like garbage. What a waste of money.

  1. Cheap for three cds! I was a bit leery of picking this one up until I stumbled upon it at a local music store. I thought I'd give it a shot though.. and I was glad I did! this has the energy, the soaring vocals, the delicious melodies. Everything you'd hope for from a compilation of dance tracks. Oh yeah, did I mention it's cheap?
