- Could Craig do it again, do it again? This is what I think smoothed out 2Step garage on R&B riffs should be. I liked Craig's first album "Born To Do It" and with songs like "Fill Me In" which was in international smash, "Walking Away" and "7 Days", but now he takes it step further with this album "Slicker Than Your Average". The first single "What's Your Flavor" is a homage to Charlie and the Chocolate factory but I think what he really had in mind was all the fine honey'z you see at the club, or what Brits would say "Birdz". This album had more of a club feel but the song "Rise and Fall" with Sting is a classic ballad. 2 Step is found in "Slicker Than Your Average", "Fast Cars" and definitely "2 Steps Back". Da straight baby making song is "Personal", this song is similar to R. Kelly, Joe and others who break it down for the ladies. I liked it but some might think it is not their cup of tea, screw them buy this album. :)

- Classic Chicago house, but too much remix filler. Could've fleshed it out with a few one hit wonders and second hits. But a great comp. for any house fan.
- I like this! It's just.. there. It doesn't blow your mind, but it's good.
- How can people get this albums ranking down to 3!!! Funkyhouse Hed Kandi fans the lot of them!!. Stick to listening to Eric Prydz and Stonebridge.!!
If they actually took the trouble to read the interviews they might see where MAW are coming from with this comp. They wanted to take it back to the days of mad mix tapes and at the same educate us with classic 94 house and some modern new cuts (a big challenge to take on).
CD1 is one of the greatest mixes that came out in 2004!! Mr V is the new lick!! and the Dope goes back medley is the pinnacle of this CD.
CD2 slows down a bit admittedly but you have to be patient with it and it will grow on you.
Excellent KD and LV.
- This cd is great, I can't stop listening to it, definately got my money's worth and I'm alwaying buying in the house cd's
- I didn't know anything about MAW, except that they were legends in the genre of house music. I've read reviews about their previous work and said to myself, 'wow, i gotta listen to some of their work.' So I purchased their double disc cd from In The House with a lot of antipication, but after listening to both these CD's, i was heavily disappointed. The whole mix just didn't move me and get me to want to listen to it. But it had some good tracks in the first CD. I have to say the first mix is the best of the two. When i put on the 2nd CD, the first track definitely got me in the groove. It's probably my favorite track on the whole mix, i thought this track would set the tone for the rest of the mix, but it failed to my expectations. The track selection just wasn't there. With house music, you want to feel the music and dance to the beats. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to do that with this mix. I also own Miguel Migs and Jay J In The House mix, which is a great mix of deep house and great vocals. I would recommend that CD, for others, i would save your money on this double disc.

- Hello, if you've been listening to goa for a while you would probably know that Hypnotic records really SUCKS, and anything with groups like Psygone is probably not all that great. The only cd I can think of by Hypnotic that actually was worth the money was "A Dose of Psychedelic Trance". Overall, this is a terrible album. If you like goa trance but aren't sure exactly what to buy, please don't buy this cause you will probably not like goa trance as much anymore. Go to a specialty site...and read the reviews...and buy stuff from labels like TIP world, Blue room released, Krembo, Koyote, Twisted, Boom, they are all good labels and you really cant go wrong. Just stay away from Hypnotic and it's sister label, Cleopatra. This album ended up in the trash after 1 listening, along with "Otherworld Transmission - Chapter one"
- my complain is not about the music, this is well mixed and really makes you trip, my complain goes to the people of this record label, who has not aparently a quality control, coz'in my case come the 2 cd's and the bonus, but the 2 cd's have the labels OK but the disc number 1 come recorded in both of the discs and it really piece me off, i really think that they should treat us more carefully. thanks
- initially, when I received this CD, I was disappointed, because due to unclear and misleading short description of this CD, i was expecting a cd by ASTRAL PROJECTION, when in fact its a collection by various artists. But before returning it I thought I'd give it a try. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't read the description more carefully, or I wouldn't have bought the best goa trance CD. I love it! Every single track is brilliant.
- I am reading the negative reviews on this CD and am a bit baffled... This is NOT an Astral Projection CD - Astral Projection has a cut that appears ON this compilation! If you want Astral Projection only - order their CD's! They are ALL Excellent, as is this Goa Trance Collection. The transfer is excellent and DJ-Mixed, so there is no break on either CD from start to finish. The cuts chosen and groups chosen are Excellent representation of the Goa Psi-Trance Genre. They do however list that this is a 3-CD set, and it is actually, a 2-CD set, with a bonus CD thrown in by Hypnotic (the label). This "bonus 3rd CD" - is not all that great, just an older sampler of the label's from 1997. But "The Greatest Goa Trance Collection" is an excellent addition to your collection, offered at an unbeatable price.
- This cd has many good songs, but if you want to get some real music there is much much more in the original albums of these artists. There for you are not getting the whole pakage.

- This is Dave Seaman's third release for Global Underground, and hallmarks an undisbutable change in electronica genres, mixing and tempo as compared to both preceeding albums . An overwhelmingly and highly unwelcomed change for Hard Progressive trance purests and/or fans of his previous two Global Underground releases.
I think this is Seaman's best effort of the three (GU012:Buenos Aires being my least favorite). I love it when when he adds a little artistic spin to his sets. A taste of this occurs on the first half GU016:Cape Town disc 1.
Disc 1 is the more "artsy" (as a few unhappy reviewers put it) of the two. Included are ambiently mixed tracks with a slow and smooth progression in tempo. A tempo which doesn't reach the hard progressive trance norm.
The set in disc 2 is better suited as a live performance than a commerical release and is overly trippy sounding. No standout tracks in my opinion and unfortunately there are a couple of dud anthems mixed in.
Disc 1 gets 4/5 stars and Disc 2, 3/5 stars.
- This album is one of my favorite discoveries in the trance/house/club music genre.
Disc one starts with Soliton Wave, a classic trance/club album openers. A tempered instrumental that starts off slow, it builds slightly but never loses its way. Song two, Loverman and three, Intruder, are both very open trance/house songs echoing sounds of the Blade Runner soundtrack. Song four starts Disc one onto its progression into the stronger trance/house sounds. It's here you start to realize Seaman assembled a quality set of house/club songs wrapped in trance/electronica sounds that dance across your head.
Making Love on Your Side, song 4, follows a steady rhythm that doesn't progress much, but is not boring by any means. Song 5, One 4 You, and song 6, Mindstake, continue the rhythm yet each sounds different. This is Seaman's ear working sounds together well.
Haunting Theme, song 7, transitions between strong beats and the more electronica-laden sounds of song 8, Sarcasm. Sarcasm starts on a powerful beat but then pauses about 1/3 of the way through. The music fades out and starts to fill with a trance cascade up and down the sound spectrum until the music floods back in for the last 1/3 of the song. I literally sit there with my eyes wide open when I hear this song transition back and forth.
Mind Rewind continues from Sarcasm with a trance-laden beat. After Mind Rewind, song 10, Depth, calms the soundtrack down a bit. It's these progressions that help keep Seaman's mix flowing where it never overcomes itself or builds up too strongly.
The final three songs on disc one, Kennny's Back, Illuminate, and Looky Thing, are almost a planned exit from the set. Kenny's Back is the climax of disc one. From there, Illuminate starts to wind the set down, and Looky Thing deftly brings disc one to a close. Each of these songs fits this set equally as well as the 10 prior songs. They have strong house beats interwoven with graceful and at times powerful trance/electronica sounds.
Disc one is great, but the first 4 songs of disc two showcase this album. I'm not reaching when I say the first 4 songs of disc two are benchmark quality for trance/house/club. The first song, Glitterball is a fine mix of techno/house beats with pulsing sounds (You may have heard it before; it was used in the Sharp Aquos LCD TVs TV commercial advertised during the 2004 Olympics). Legacy pulses in and out with lyrics and a strong beat keeping pace. Close is my favorite of the four with a techno base over-laden with a progressive house beat. It blends well from Lagacy and into Consider the Ravens. These four are some of the most precise, powerful trance/house songs I have heard.
The rest of disc two is a varying mix of trance/house sounds that seem to run the gamut from lyrical to mellow to high-energy. Again, Seaman seems to plan his exit from the CD with the last three songs. Clear, song 10, is the climax point. What Sound, song 11, one of the other most notable songs on this album, gently transitions to Slide, which when it starts you know is the last song on the disc.
In summary Seaman's pacing and sound selection on this album is fantastic. Each song Seaman chose builds on the prior one keeping the same strong beat. His talent for this is uncanny. It's a match of sounds that could not be picked by an amateur. He charts his course picking sounds a pro like Sasha wouldn't notice, but sounds that are as brilliant and moving as the best Sasha has chosen. In ways Seaman represents Sasha's successor, picking up those left behind after GU:013. I look forward to his future Global Underground sets.
- My dance collection is actually very tiny but from what I've heard so far, Dave Seaman is my absolute favorite mixer. Whether it be trance, techno or electronica, I'm very picky when it comes to selecting an album to buy because, ever since this type of music emerged from the underground scene and began to grow popular amongst young people (mostly) looking for a fun time at raves, the genre has also developed into staggering bounds so, as a result, there's now a large amount of mediocre DJs rounding the tables, claiming to be the next Paul Oakenfold. Consequently finding a flawless record that'll keep you entertained from beginning to end is kind of like finding a needle in a haystack and that's why I'm thrilled to have found someone I can rely on when it comes to delivering the goods. I was in my sister's car one day when I heard her playing 'Renaissance Awakening' and I instantly became captivated. I'm still stunned at the wonders of that masterpiece, which is highly underrated, but it wasn't until I gave in and got 'Renaissance Desire' that this guy's immense talent truly sunk in.
'Global Underground: Melborne' took longer than the others to grow on me but sometimes those turn out the best. Unlike a lot of techno, I don't find Dave Seaman's work to be at all redundant. He incorporates a lot of different styles to keep everything sounding fresh, such as drum n' bass, borderline funk, and atmospheric trance that occasionally ventures into the dark and mysterious. He even toys with some Middle Eastern and does a splendid job at it too. His three part opus ranging from tracks 3-5 on CD#1 is incredibly infectious and you can't help turning the volume up as the hypnotic tune completely seduces your senses. I also love the remix version of Lamb's "What Sound" which I prefer over the original. The limited edition features probably aren't worth the extra bucks but I highly recommend this so I wouldn't pass it up if I were you! You're making a grave mistake if you do.
- I was disappointed the first time I heard this CD, but only because I had heard his Melbourne set on DI internet radio. That set rocked, and so I went out and bought the album without listening to it. The contents of the CD were totally different - darker, slower, and some of the tracks just seemed to drag. However, my appreciation for it grew with repeat listenings. The mixing is good, and I found I just needed to listen to it with patience. The degree of patience you have can mean the difference between being bored and hearing the songs unfold gracefully. I really like the last track, "Slide."
- -
I purchased this album about one year ago. After listening to it countless times, it still sounds as fresh and intriguing as the first time.Disc one has a dark, sultry and smooth introduction. A slow burner, the beats don't begin in earnest until the beginning of track four. Tracks worth noting are "Mind Rewind", "Depth" and "Kenny's Back". Disc two begins with EXPLOSIVE FUNK. "Glitterball" and "Legacy" are two great tracks worth playing over and over. After these, the album settles down a notch, only to take you up again with "The Roots". CD2 closes gracefully with Tom Middleton's superb remix of "What Sound" and Frakkar's "Slide". Dave Seaman took a detour on this album. A serious departure from his Buenos Aires and Cape Town compilations, it is by no means an album one can dance to. While the album lacks the "trance" elements, Dave's flawless mixing is still present. This compilation is packed with deep, rich and variegated sounds. Great for those individuals who have grown out of trance and euro-cheese, looking for something fresh and different. Perfect when listened through a set of headphones, or when chilling out with your friends. -

- Dave Seaman is a DJ who has garnered an excellent reputation from his early days as a resident at Renaissance along with Sasha and Digweed. He has released several mixes associated with that label and consistently produced strong, musical and energetic progressive house/trance compilations. He has also released now three global underground double discs. This one is, as most of his prior mixes, an excellent addition to a library of good tunes he has compiled in the past. The discs are visceral, euphoric and very dancable. Perhaps, what I like most about Dave Seaman is that he is an intelligent DJ and seems to think through his set so that each track fits nicely together and none seem out of order or place. The flow is definitely there and though his AWAKENING CD seems to catch him at his all time best, I truly enjoy this set and think that fans of Dave Seaman and the progressive house movement will really enjoy this one. Not perfect but top notch for sure. Happy listening!!! rock the vote :)
- The first disc is incredible with smooth, dreamy, tribally mixes with some amazing songs, like Waurp by Gloat. The second is a bit more progressive with some more great songs like luzon's Bagiou Track. The first disc definately takes the cake. One of the best ever.
- I am a pretty strong fan of the GU series. For the most part you can rely on them to put out a nice digestable mix of sweet songs for a start or end of a party. This is perhaps my fav of the various GU CD's I own. The mixes in general are very upbeat and cozy. Songs you want to dance to one minute and melt in the next. I suppose a very good :E:CD. No big surprises here just a solid mix which keeps the energy flowing. What more do you want?
- Just as the liner notes report, this mix is indeed more musical than mental. More hits & hot tracks than headtrips. Now, I gave it 3 stars because I'm much more into headtrip type mixes but I was pretty close to giving it 4 because the mix is pretty representative of his live sets. However, for those familiar with Dave Seaman through his Renaissance mixes or his Buenos Aries GU mix, this is a little bit different. Is it still the progressive sound? Yes, but with a touch more of mellow...
Disc one begins rather cleverly with two short cuts, Sound 5's "...Hacienda..." and Rui Da Silva's "Earth." While the tracklisting gave me an idea of what to expect, those first two tracks set the tone's tempo down a notch while adding an element of character that seemed lacking from some of Seaman's other mixCDs. The mix than rises and falls through a series of pretty tracks (Ananda Project's "Cascades of Colour" being the standout here) before it's "Tyrantanic" crescendo. Here's where I heave a sigh though. We've seen that same Slacker remix of "Tyrantanic" to close disc one of S+D's "Communicate", and it's just kind of an awkward, stumbling beast of a song. The tempo seems to pick up a little bit on disc two. Seaman drops a thought provoking sample as an intro over the first few swells of Quivver's remix of Pete Lazonby's class, "Sacred Cycles." Classic or not, the first three tracks are fairly uninteresting. They're ... trance. Then again, this is a trance mix. Anyway, the Planisphere track seems fairly generic and the Bedrock remix of "The Baguio Track" is just shameful (and awkwardly placed in the mix). The second disc launches after that however. Seaman drops in part of Bleachin's "Peakin'" as a bridge into the swelling "4am". Then from track 4 through 9, we have a very solidly mixed, very smoothly flowing series of tracks. ProTools mixed or not, they were definitely expertly picked, as they seem to rise into each other as a good mix should. Unfortunately, the last two tracks seem almost as though they were tacked on as an after thought. There's nothing interesting about the way they come out of their preceeding tracks or go into the next. While I think "Zerotonine" is a fun track and "No Way Out" is an excellent closer for the mix, there just isn't anything remarkable about how they're placed. All in all, 3 stars. More musical than mental. I bought it on a friend's recommendation (and b/c I'm a GU junkie). So, if the tracklisting excites you or you're already a Dave Seaman fan -- go for it. If you're looking for something that does more for your mind, this isn't it.
- About a year ago a friend of mine introduced me to the Global Underground Cd's...I am yet to be dissapointed. Every CD has its strengths and are different from one another in some way or another.
Dave Seaman's Cape Town CD is no different. It can be used for whatever you want. If you just want something to chill to and have a relaxing evening, just turn the volume down a tad and you can chill. If you want to dance, pump up the volume, and go to it. I enjoyed both CD's although the first one seems to have tickled my fancy more than the others. If your looking for a CD to buy you never can go wrong with this label. Cape town is the exact same. If you like deep trance, its perfect for you. This is a must buy for a fan of the series, Dave Seaman, or trance in general.

- "Monument" is the fourth debut studio release from Germany uplifting trance duo BLANK & JONES. I happened to purchase the 2-CD limited edition. The second disc basically contains the remixes of some of the main tracks. Although, with the exception of the "Intro" and the last track on the first cd, which kind of thru Blank and Jones in another direction musically speaking,( more of a breakbeat style), the rest of the album was flawless...and had an uplifting feel...!
- Once again they did it: (re)create the most fabulous synth songs in their famous intense dance rhythm. Having the chance to own this Limited Edition adds even more fun to the already complete musical pleasure Monument has to offer. "This music was been mixed to be played loud. So turn it up.", it reads on the booklet inside. Blank & Jones know their fans, I do it all the time. Having listened to the introsong 'Monument' I want to go back in time: it's very similar to what Trevor Horn used to produce back in the eighties: small bits of digital distorted effects in between computergenerated electronic music. Sometimes it's uptempo, then again it's slow, but it always get's you right in your gutts. On this album Piet Blank & Jaspa Jones have joined forces once again with Elles De Graaf, who we know from an earlier B&J-song called 'Flaming June' which is a track from Relax, last years ambient masterpiece. The song is called 'Mind of the wonderful' and is just released as their new single. A true jewel which lasts a full 9 minutes and 19 seconds. On the bonus-cd you can hear the Martin Roth Remix of the same song for another 8 minutes and 33 seconds. The second collaboration on Monument is with Robert Smith, leadsinger of The Cure. Their new interpretation of 'A Forest' is well worth listening, as well as the remix of it on the 2nd disk. I bet you'll turn up the volume, and can't sit still once you own this very well-composed treasure.

- This is a 3 CD compilation of here very early 70's hits. The track listing is included for each. Please note that "If Not For You" appears twice (one on Disc 1 and once on Disc 2). Guess they weren't paying close attention when they made up the song list.
