- I am a big Daniel O'Donnell fan and this is a great CD. I just recently saw him in Branson and his show was wonderful. I will continue to buy his CD's as he sings some great songs.
- I was able to find a specific song I was looking for by reading the description. Everything, I wasnted to know was available before i purchased this item.
- I love this albumn. I have written a book for my family and his songs,
voice, are perfect for my project.
- There is a skip in CD Songs of Inspiration and at the beginning of I Beleive, it sounds like birds chirping. I only purchased the Classic Double for one(1) song, so I am not complaining; however, it is a very good purchase.
- I bought this CD for my mother and she truly loves it. It is an excellent inspirational buy. She is even sharing it with her friends.

5 comments about Livin', Lovin', Losin': Songs of the Louvin Brothers.
- I bought this as a gift for my husband, but have loved listening to it myself!
- I listen to this album in my car all the time. I bought it for track #4, "How's the World Treating You" with James Taylor and Allison Krauss. But listening to these wonderful old songs reminds me how clever, harmonious and REAL country music used to be. There are plenty of famous people singing the Louvin Brothers' songs - Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Merl Haggard, Linda Ronstadt, Del McCoury, Dolly Parton - but the quality of the songs transcends the years gone by or the singers performing them. There are just no songs better than "New Partner's Waltz" or "Are you teasing me?"...and the harmony will have you singing along too.
- I liked all the songs on this CD. Some standouts are: You're Running Wild, I Don't Believe You've Met My Baby, When I Stop Dreaming, and If I Could Only Win Your Love.
- As tribute albums go, this one is pretty good. But...did you ever hear a Beatles tribute that was anywhere close to being as good as the Beatles? Same goes here. These are decent performances, but frankly I think they lack the alchemy that made the Louvins' vocal performances so amazing. I was happy to see a tribute to the Louvins because they sure did earn it. But why get this cd when you can get the real thing? And there are so many more good songs done by Charlie and Ira than are captured on this cd, that it would be a shame to stop here. Go get some of their own cds, no way you're gonna regret it.
- I discovered this cd by chance and what a find! The vocals (all duets), instrumentation and arrangements are pure and exceptional. In addition to outstanding performances by the recognizable stars I also heard a very talented Carl Jackson for the first time. Especially enjoyable are Emmy Lou Harris/Rodney Crowell, James Taylor/Alison Krause but every cut is great listening. Whether or not you've heard the Louvins' original recordings any true country music fan will appreciate these excellent performances of their timeless songs. A must addition to any traditional country music collection.

- I thought all of these songs together were a sermon put to music. I'd sure like it if all of you could just sit down together and listen to these songs. I think they're some of the most beautiful and meaningful songs I've heard in a long time. Gordon was born blind but given a most wonderful gift, and he enjoys passing it along.
1. The first one I dance to, and it's to praise God. I know your hearts are open to Him because of the life you live. He watches over us, doesn't He?
2. When we look around at all the beauty there is, we can't deny there is a Creator. Gordon can sing about it without ever seeing any of it. But he can sure feel it and show his appreciation.
3. Some day, after Christ has come, and we're resurrected from the dead, when we're all together in one place with the Father and Son, we'll be loving, singing, dancing, hugging, kissing, and crying with joy. It will be a perfect time.
4. This young man asks God to open his eyes so he can see the Lord's glory when Christ comes again. I'm sure the grace of God will see to it! I don't want to miss the wonder, either.
5. There are prayers for each one of us that we never know are sent up for God's consideration. We never know about them, but we can understand that our lives might not be as they are unless someone cares enough to ask a blessing on us. The man in the music here gives us a glimpse that the church is really in the heart, not in the walls constructed of brick, wood, metal, or even stained glass.
6. Every good deed you do is a part of what God would have you do. And, like the music, it brings fantastic happiness. Notice what a fantastic pianist Gordon is. The deed he does in music is part of his happiness.
7. Mercy, mercy. If we could but have the mercy that Messiah showed us. He is there for every soul who ever lived, whether the souls wanted it or not. What a perfect gift - a gift some don't even know exists: Christ's blood shed for all. It would lead all souls to peace. Instead, we have hatred, killing, lying, power seeking, and things said and done that are not beautiful.
8. Music and noise - the same thing if it's for praise. What a happy piece.
9. Gordon can't get anywhere without someone taking him there. Yet, he definitely knows where he's going in his life. What an example! His parents must have been something special. God gave him such a fantastic gift, and he has recognized it as something to give to others and to God.
10. I think Gordon knows what he's talking about. What he sees in life we look at but don't see. I believe he appreciates all that God continues to do for him. There's no sitting and moping for this guy!
11. Gordon and his wife Kimberly sing this piece together. Faith was given to us by Jesus and from God. Jesus redeemed us. He's done it for us. Steven Curtis Chapman was one of the writers of this song. He has suffered a monumental loss of his daughter, who was killed when his older son backed over her with his car in their driveway. I think we're seeing a piece of Steven Chapman's heart.
12. Gordon, with the help of Chaz Borsage, wrote this song for Gordon's mother. It's written about the love of his mother realizing his special needs. As he says, there's no guarantee that life won't be unfair, but the debt this life owes us will all be settled one day.
13. He's never seen the glory, but he lives it. Fireflies hold back the dying day; it's a valiant effort. Even the fireflies have something worthwhile to do.
Thanks for listening and providing a way for me to share with you my love for you, your life, and all of the Father and Son that I have learned to love, respect, and obey. Thank you for spending this time with me. I miss you all in person, but my heart is always full of you. I'm so blessed. Amen.
-- Mom
- Ordered for my mom. She said it was OK, but he's not as good as the last guy who played for the Gaithers.
- This is a very inspirational gospel album. The songs are all different and Gordon gives you a little of everything from traditional southern gospel to almost a ragtime sound. If you like music that makes your heart sing then this is the album to buy. It stays in my CD player even when everything else gets shuffled around. I love this album and the way it makes me feel. The title track alone is worth buying this album. You will feel different after you have listened to this CD.
- Gordon Mote has a great voice. I found this CD to be very inspirational.
- I purchased this CD for a Christmas gift, and it arrived 6 days after I placed the order in perfect condition. Thank you, susu44.

- Very good old-timey music, with amazing presentation by the best artists. Great product and for those who love gospel bluegrass, you won't find anything better anywhere!
- Playing Time - 56:14 -- We are seeing more and more labels create concept and thematic compilations from their extensive catalogs of recorded archival and previously released material. In 2006, Rebel Records put out "Feel Like My Time Ain't Long," a 15-track a cappella gospel collection that drew pre-released material from 1971-2005. Now, "True Bluegrass Gospel" presents twenty classic favorites from the likes of Ralph Stanley, Rhonda Vincent, Country Gentlemen, Seldom Scene, Paul Williams, Blue Highway, Larry Sparks, Phoenix, Forbes Family, Jim Eanes, Marshall Family, and others. With the majority of the material drawn from traditional sources, the product is well anchored with the supple fare that makes up Rebel's stable. A bluegrass gospel disc is not complete without standard favorites like I'll Fly Away, Angel Band, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Working on a Building, and Amazing Grace. From their 1977 "The Lifeguard" album, The Marshall Family's a cappella rendition of "Amazing Grace" actually appears on both of Rebel's recent 2006 and 2007 gospel compilations. The other half of "True Bluegrass Gospel" gives us a taste of bluegrass gospel from more contemporary songwriters. These relatively new offerings are becoming a standard part of a vibrant bluegrass gospel genre. Unlike the 2006 release, however, "True Bluegrass Gospel" does not provide sufficient liner notes with musician credits listed for each song. In addition, it would have been nice if "True Bluegrass Gospel" would have listed the album references for each song's original release by Rebel. Apparently, this 20-track album spanning nearly an hour was conceived with a limited budget in mind.
Many bluegrass bands excel in their presentation of stirring and inspirational gospel songs. Ralph Stanley always felt that he could put more into the gospel, and he hoped it would make a difference to others. Stanley once commented that he felt that he was doing both himself, and his audiences, some good with gospel messages. I look for happy, uplifting songs on a gospel compilation, and I like to hear an emotional attachment and indication that the bands believe what they were singing. "True Bluegrass Gospel" will not disappoint. The bands sing and play to touch, encourage and motivate us. For decades, these artists have been working on a building for the Lord. With many excellent artists to select from, producers Dave and Mark Freeman chose a nice overview of both "true" and truly heart-warming songs that celebrate the spirit of God. "True Bluegrass Gospel" is a splendid set of spiritual Christian guidance sung reverently with delicate and refined bluegrass accompaniment. (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)

- Like all gospel music by Randy Travis. He is a great gospel singer and would recommend any of his CD'S.
- can sing real country and does a great job with this cd. Pray for the fish is cute song that my brother played over and over again. He isn't even a Christian! A very good cd for the country gospel community.
- Rise and shine is as good as any bible music I have ever heard except mahalia jackson , maybe. I am atheist, but my love of music trumps religion in this CD. At one time I didn't even like country, but Randy Travis has "the Voice", I won't go into his personal life, but this Bible CD, is very good, every song has a good story, none are poorly done. I would think "Three wooden crosses " is the highpoint of the CD, the story has been told for eons, probly since the ancient greek days, for sure Shakespear had to have something compareable. It is my second copy, the first I gave away to a hurricane Katrina victim. Give it a try.
- I have 1 already and brought 2 more for birthday presents. Gave one to my pastor--he truly enjoyed it. the other one will be in December. This CD is AWESOME!!!!!! my granddaugther who is 7 is learning the songs on this Cd by sitting in the backseat of my car.I truly enjoy listening to Randy sings gospels songs.
- This is a great Cd for christian music lovers and Country music lovers. Randy Travis does it all!

- Bought this CD before going to see Ricky as he played in our small town. This CD will give you a great range of his songs. All are really good if you like his Bluegrass/country style. The only thing missing with his live show (July-2006) was that he doesn't do his older country songs anymore. His shows are all bluegrass now. Not bad, but wish he would have played more than a couple from this album when he performed live.
- This is a classic album. Ricky Skaggs's great voice is perfectly featured in this collection with hits such as "Highway 40 Blues," "Crying My Heart out over you," "You May see me walking," and "You've got a lover." The collection of songs couldn't have been better. If you like Ricky Skaggs, you will love this album. I guarantee it. You will not be disappointed if you get it.
- Whether you prefer Ricky's country music or bluegrass music, there's a combinaton of both on this album. I'm a BIG fan of his bluegrass music (BLUGRASS RULES!), so I wasn't personally overwhelmed with the electronic and steel guitar stuff on this album - but my least favorite Ricky Skaggs song is WAY better than 99% of everything else that's out there!
- In the early '80s, Ricky Skaggs was one of the leaders of the New Traditionalist movement who steered country away from the pop crossover stylings typified by Kenny Rogers and Barbara Mandrell and back toward its roots. Skaggs' sound is actually an amalgamation of bluegrass, western swing, and traditional country, with vocals that drive home his old-fashioned, mountain upbringing.
Not possessing the matinee idol good looks of a George Strait, it is a tribute to his immense skills as a musician (fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar, and banjo) and singer (one of themost supple tenors around) that Skaggs was able to make such a big impact in modern country music. This set captures about half of his hits on the Epic label in the '80s. Skaggs' early releases were dominated by remakes of songs made popular in the 50s and 60s by his bluegrass heroes with Flatt & Scruggs "Don't Get Above Your Raisin'" and "Crying My Heart Out Over You" getting the set off to a lesiurely start, followed by Reno & Smiley's "I Wouldn't Change You If I Could," the Stanley Brothers' "Don't Cheat In Our Hometown" and Bill Monroe's toe-tapping "Uncle Pen." Interspersed covers of Webb Pierce's "I Don't Care" and "Honey (Open That Door)" offer a change of pace dripping with classic country and western style. The disc winds down with Skaggs adding a bit more variety to his musical pallet on the power picker "Country Boy" and the live "Cajun Moon." By the early 90s, traditional country was bombarded by the noisier sounds of contemporary artists like Garth Brooks, and country radio was concentrating on artists under 40. Skaggs was no longer an upper-chart placing presence and in 1992, he and Epic parted ways. To get all of the classic Epic hits, check out the two-disc Country Gentleman: The Best Of Ricky Skaggs.
- Skaggs' mile-deep bluegrass roots were brought to the forefront by a generous record label during much of his CBS tenure, and this collection brings the best of that era to light. Skaggs' masterpieces, "Uncle Pen," "Highway 40 Blues," and "Country Boy," were ahead of their time when their chart runs began (the bluegrass/new-traditionalist revival's popularity didn't hit it's stride until 1986) but he quickly built a sizeable audience, every top music industry award, and managed to corrall several #1 singles. He did it all by meticulously sticking to his roots, corageously including as many as 2 Bill Monroe tunes per CD. There were stellar moments near the end of his CBS tenure ("Humingbird, "Fields of Home") that have been omitted here, but that serves notice that his best simply can't be contained on one CD. Skaggs' astonishing guitar/mandolin flat-picking abilities paired with his brilliant tenor singiing style convincingly harken to his idol and former bandleader, 'Big Mon,' and his ability to escape the syrupy trappings of 1980's commercial country music is nearly as amazing as the cohesive mixture of bluegrass and well-sung ballads collected here.

5 comments about Goodbye, Babylon.
- Look up. Does it say "in stock"? It does? Buy it! The hell with the damn money - life's short, and this jewel from Dust To Digital is worth every cent. Goodbye, Babylon is a rich, deep vein of mixed ore - plenty of utilitarian coal, a good leavening of gold, and a double handful of diamonds. For starters, the box set itself is a beautiful object, made with respect and love. For musical trainspotters, there's plenty here to enjoy and mull over - by far the larger proportion not found on any of my other compilations. And for people like me, who are trawling for that elusive and rare combination of passion and melody, humanity and heartbreak, yearning and joy - it can be found here. I distilled the six CDs down to a compilation that I listen to as I would any good music, and as frequently - it's a great Sunday morning CD and, if you live in the suburbs like I don't, it'll freak the neighbours. Oh, unless you live in the southern states of the US, of course. Ahem. Anyway, sift through and you'll find beautiful songs that will lift your spirits, old weird America stuff that'll make you smile and sing along, and a wealth of really interesting music that draws from many traditions. This one is special, and worth it. Enjoy.
- This a very valuable collection of gospel music. Be aware that is all gospel. Is is nearly all old time gospel, and it gives us a rich history of the passion that goes into this form of music. If you are a lover of folk music you should own this set.The performers are now saved for all time! The one drawback is the insanley stupid packaging-a wooden box that does not work! I threw mine away. What were they thinking??
- Having read the enthusiastic reviews here and in the the New York Times, I couldn't wait for this boxed set to arrive. Unfortunately, when it did arrive I sure wished I could get a refund.
No doubt this material is of interest to scholars. But anyone just looking for something enjoyable to listen to is in for a disappointment.
I have listened to plenty of old recordings but the sound quality on this is by far the worst I have ever heard, bar none. You really can't enjoy the music. The quality is so poor that one track of a particular genre doesn't register as any different from another. Listening to it is just plain painful.
So if you are a music library you might want to spend your money on this.
But, if you are just a gospel fan, you may want to spend your money on the many other fine gospel recordings out there.
- This is one of the most wide-ranging and wonderful collections of early roots music I've found. The performances range from gospel quartets and choirs through blues and jug bands, pulling together influences from gospel, bluegrass and country, jazz, and blues. And then there's an entire disc of sermons, with such gems (no pun intended) as "Black Diamond Express to Hell". Great stuff, and a wonderfully eclectic collection of early roots music, gospel or not.
The sound quality is very good, especially given the age of many of the sources.
There's not a ton of historical/biographical info in the 200+ page book, but the inclusion of all the lyrics of every song is a huge win. The packaging is as cool as it looks, but isn't terribly practical for day-to-day use. That wasn't a problem for me, as I ripped all six CDs and have primarily played them off my computers, but could be a nuisance for some.
- This set includes 5 music CD's plus 1 preaching CD. All six are good ones and each individual CD is put together according to a single theme; salvation, judgement, etc. I listen to this over and over again and I never tire of it. Maybe this is a bit pricy, but still it's worth every cent.

5 comments about Sings 22 Favorite Hymns.
- These are the traditional hymns I grew up with and Mr. Ford sings them beautifully. Listening to them gives me time to pause in my life for private worship and praise to God through song.
- Some of the best old sacred songs in the beautiful voice of Tennessee Ernie Ford!
- My mother was dying in a hospice. We needed some music to play for her while she was there. Two of her favorite hymns were on the one cd. It was hard to find that. Amazon came through with the selection, and overnited it to me. My mother passed 2 days later. I'll always be grateful for that cd.
- Tennessee Ernie Ford was a very popular singer when I was a child and my parents and siblings loved to watch his TV show. He would always end the show with a hymn and I wanted to revisit those songs and the happy days of my youth. The Hymns and Ernie are as good as ever.
- I bought this CD specifically for the song "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" which is hard to find on a CD. This hymn was written in 1830 by Ray Palmer (lyrics) and put to music later by Lowell Mason, a man Palmer met on the streets of Boston. Mason took home the lyric, wrote a melody, and a few days later found Palmer and told him no matter what Palmer did for the rest of his life, he would be remembered for the hymn.
Another gem here is "Just As I Am Without One Plea." This is the amazing story of Charlotte Elliot. This bedridden, sick woman was feeling sorry she could not help her pastor with his fundraising for charity as she was simply too sick. After writing this hymn in 1835, she was shocked to find copies of it being sold by the thousands. The proceeds were given to the very charity Charlotte thought she could not help. After she died in 1871, others found stacks of letters sent to her from all over the world, thanking her for changing their lives and bringing them to Christ.
These are not the only two historical hymns in collection.
This is not just a CD of the great hymns of our time. This CD is a living history of hymns going far back in time.
It is a treasure.
I am thankful I got a chance to see Tennessee Ernie Ford when he appeared on TV during his glory years.
