5 comments about Amazing Grace: His Greatest Sacred Performances.
- This is a great 2 CD set if your a gospel music fan and a must have if you're and Elvis fan.
- I bought this 2 CD set for my beloved because he had lost his CD. I listen to these myself and these 50 Christian songs have become a tremendous blessing to me, in fact I intend to buy a copy for myself as well. There are songs on these 2 CDs that fit every situation that person goes through in life. One of the most amazing things about it is that as you listen to these songs it gives you a glimpse into the spiritual life of Elvis in spite of the tremendous temptations he went through in his life. His early introduction to Jesus in his childhood influenced him his entire life. He never lost his love for Jesus nor the Christian hymns that touched his spiritual life. It is obvious that these songs had meaning for him and the other performers and that they enjoyed the experience of recording them. Surely these songs he recorded were a blessing to him in his final days on this earth.
- This is a great selection and is very well done. I highly recommend it.

- I bought this album for a friend for Christmas because I have one myself and I love it so much. It is my favorite Elvis Presley album. He had such a beautiful voice and sang all the hymns with his whole heart. How Great Thou Art is the most powerful hymn ever written. Anyone who loves Gospel music should purchase this album.
- The double plastic CD case was cracked when it arrived. I did not know it until I had already opened the package. It had a cardboard sleeve over the double case which prevented me from seeing the crack. Is there any recourse now?

- I think the CD was in quality condition & I received it within 4 days of ordering this CD.
- Part of me wants to give this four stars, but if I can be more objective, it deserves five. Mr. Travis really knows how to do a gospel album. Again, especially in comparison to most modern country gospel, this is really well-done: Very sensitive and not egotistical.
I liked _Worship and Faith_ better; this seems just a little overproduced for my tastes and, overall, I don't care as much for the song selections. However, it's really not glaring, and people who thought W&F was too stripped-down will probably love it.
The cover of "Precious Memories" is easily one of the best versions of that song I've ever heard.
- Some folks have it and some don't...that special little something that lets you take almost any song and make it yours. I've been in gospel music all my life and Randy Travis puts a great spin on these old classic gospel books. That amazing warm baritone voice is just perfect for listening to anytime of the day or night.
- He's been around a long time, but so have I! We both just get better with age! His voice is an old friend, soothing, comfortable, and dependably wonderful! His choices on this album are fantastic; great!
- I have all of Randy Travis' gospel CDs and they are ALL wonderful. This one is no less wonderful. I love his rendition of Jesus On The Mainline and the absolutely beautiful renditions of Here I Am To Worship and Heart Of Worship. I can hardly wait for another Travis gospel CD. Thank you thank you Jesus for Randy Travis!

5 comments about 50 Years of Hits.
- Along with "Hits I Missed and One I didn't", every time I listen to this 3 disc set in my vehicle it seems like the first time I've heard Jones' voice, hooking, mesmerizing...
For me George ranks right there with Tina Turner, "The Best", Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Rolling Stones "40 Licks", Dylan and Cash "Girl from the North Country", Clapton's "Layla", Big Head Todd "Bittersweet", Dylan and the Dead "Slow Train Comin", Kris Kristofferson "Me and Bobbie McGee" and "Sunday Mornin", Fleetwood Mac, Gordon Lightfoot's "Edmund Fitzgerald", Beach Boys, CSNY,CCR,Buffalo Springfield, Roy Orbison, The Band, Hapa's "He'Eia", Eagles, Motown, Jefferson Airplane.. all the music I listen to driving and running that just turns to dust it's so worn out. And also George is right there with, Winston Churchill, whose liver, Richard Burton said, "The world would admire".
Can't disagree with Wynona that the best country song ever and the best country singer at that moment singing it is "He can't stop loving her today".For me, better than "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is the phenominal "Choices", his story...everybody's story in a way.
How many other guys riding around out there on their John Deere riding lawnmowers to go get a bottle of Jack are turning out as clean and good as this?
- When I purchased this CD I thought I was buying it for my husband, Lyle. Little did I know, how much I would enjoy the CD. Some of the older songs were not familar to me,but Lyle remembered them all(he's nine years wiser than me). We've introduced it to family members and have yet to find anyone who doesn't enjoy it as much as we do. I'm glad Mr. Jones was able to release this CD while he could still comment on his life and career instead of someone doing it after he's gone. That personal touch means alot.
- If you love George Jones like many of us do, you must buy this set! It is probably the BEST of ALL his recordings. The quality is pure, crisp, studio sound with his best vocals. I have many recordings of George Jones, but this set is simply the best versions of his repitoire!
- I got this for my dad at Christmas. He couldn't have been happier. He loves George Jones. It made his day
- I bought this cd as a goft for my father and he loved it. Brought back memories of better days.

5 comments about Angel Band.
- Truth be told, I bought this CD many years ago and foolishly gave it away. I just recently bought another from Amazon. The only reason I can give for giving it away in the first place is temporary insanity. EmmyLou Harris is one of my absolute favorite artists and then to have Vince Gill (another of my favorites) singing harmony is beyond wonderful. This is pure joy from beginning to end.
- This is Emmylou at her best!
Great Gospel music!
inspiring and i love every song!
- I have been an Emmylou Harris fan since both she and I were young. I recently purchased the Angel Band CD and I have to say it is the best of her sound that I own. There is not one song on the CD that I do not thoroughly enjoy. This sounds like the real Emmylou to me. I find it addictive and often listen to it several time in succession.
- Emmy Lou Harris is peerless. She is in a class all her own. No one I can think of pours herself out to sing like she does. This cd works on so many levels. Please treat yourself. It will be a blessing, if you want it.
- This CD is a welcome addition to anyone's Emmylou collection. I have loved listening to her and this CD came in excellent condition and I would buy from them again and again.

5 comments about Goodbye, Babylon.
- Look up. Does it say "in stock"? It does? Buy it! The hell with the damn money - life's short, and this jewel from Dust To Digital is worth every cent. Goodbye, Babylon is a rich, deep vein of mixed ore - plenty of utilitarian coal, a good leavening of gold, and a double handful of diamonds. For starters, the box set itself is a beautiful object, made with respect and love. For musical trainspotters, there's plenty here to enjoy and mull over - by far the larger proportion not found on any of my other compilations. And for people like me, who are trawling for that elusive and rare combination of passion and melody, humanity and heartbreak, yearning and joy - it can be found here. I distilled the six CDs down to a compilation that I listen to as I would any good music, and as frequently - it's a great Sunday morning CD and, if you live in the suburbs like I don't, it'll freak the neighbours. Oh, unless you live in the southern states of the US, of course. Ahem. Anyway, sift through and you'll find beautiful songs that will lift your spirits, old weird America stuff that'll make you smile and sing along, and a wealth of really interesting music that draws from many traditions. This one is special, and worth it. Enjoy.
- This a very valuable collection of gospel music. Be aware that is all gospel. Is is nearly all old time gospel, and it gives us a rich history of the passion that goes into this form of music. If you are a lover of folk music you should own this set.The performers are now saved for all time! The one drawback is the insanley stupid packaging-a wooden box that does not work! I threw mine away. What were they thinking??
- Having read the enthusiastic reviews here and in the the New York Times, I couldn't wait for this boxed set to arrive. Unfortunately, when it did arrive I sure wished I could get a refund.
No doubt this material is of interest to scholars. But anyone just looking for something enjoyable to listen to is in for a disappointment.
I have listened to plenty of old recordings but the sound quality on this is by far the worst I have ever heard, bar none. You really can't enjoy the music. The quality is so poor that one track of a particular genre doesn't register as any different from another. Listening to it is just plain painful.
So if you are a music library you might want to spend your money on this.
But, if you are just a gospel fan, you may want to spend your money on the many other fine gospel recordings out there.
- This is one of the most wide-ranging and wonderful collections of early roots music I've found. The performances range from gospel quartets and choirs through blues and jug bands, pulling together influences from gospel, bluegrass and country, jazz, and blues. And then there's an entire disc of sermons, with such gems (no pun intended) as "Black Diamond Express to Hell". Great stuff, and a wonderfully eclectic collection of early roots music, gospel or not.
The sound quality is very good, especially given the age of many of the sources.
There's not a ton of historical/biographical info in the 200+ page book, but the inclusion of all the lyrics of every song is a huge win. The packaging is as cool as it looks, but isn't terribly practical for day-to-day use. That wasn't a problem for me, as I ripped all six CDs and have primarily played them off my computers, but could be a nuisance for some.
- This set includes 5 music CD's plus 1 preaching CD. All six are good ones and each individual CD is put together according to a single theme; salvation, judgement, etc. I listen to this over and over again and I never tire of it. Maybe this is a bit pricy, but still it's worth every cent.

5 comments about Steven Curtis Chapman: Greatest Hits.
- My review is long overdue. This is one of my favorite CD's - and if you look at the back of my CD, it shows! What a talented song-writer and performer. The CD is packed with a great mix of some of his finest songs. Don't limit yourself to this CD alone - every project of his is worth adding to your collection. Praise God for his inspirational music that spans the generations. Enjoy!
- Great Cd! Love his music and his message. I plsy him alot snd he is very comforting and inspirational as well as hip and upbeat. If you have never listened to him, this is the one to start with.
- One of, if not THE, greatest CD that Chapman has ever compiled. There aren't any words for his songs. They hit "home" in ways indescribable. "Not Home Yet" will forever be my favorite SCC song; I based my entire high school valedictorian speech on it. By far one of my favorite CD's that I own. I'd recommend it to absolutely anybody.
- I really like Steven Curtis Chapman's songs. The music is very good guitar-driven rhythms and the lyrics are great. This Greatest Hits cd captures the best songs from the first half of his career (First Hand to Signs of Life). I wish it would have included "Let Us Pray" and "I Will Not Go Quietly", but other than that I found it to be a wonderful way to hear a lot of his songs. This CD is a great place to start you SCC collection; I'm sure Greatest Hits 2 is in the working to gather songs from his latest cds (Speechless, Declaration, All About Love, and All Things New). Now go out and get it! (I would have given it 4.5 stars but amazon does not allow that yet!)
- This collection contains some of the strongest songs of Steven Curtis Chapman's early career, and serves as a launching pad for all the albums to come. He has grown in strength and confidence over the years, and this album singles out those tracks that have captured him at his peak through each stage.
Two brand new tracks, Not Home Yet and I Am Found In You, give us a glimpse of the Steven Curtis Chapman to come - a much more audibly passionate and uninhibited artist than when he first started out. New versions of Lord of the Dance and The Walk (recorded at Abbey Road Studios) start to capture some of the energy found in Chapman's live performances.
With so many excellent songs to choose from, it must have been difficult to narrow it down to these 14 tracks. You may be surprised at some of the songs that are missing, but you definitely won't be disappointed with any of the ones that made the cut.

- This is the best Gospel music CD I have ever heard. Great songs and wonderfull voices to make wish there were more to listen when it is all over.
- The Statler Brother's Gospel Favorites is one of my husband's favorite cd's. If you like good old songs gospel music this is the cd for you.
- For someone who's musical tastes range from the neo-Cajun Pine Leaf Boys to hard rockers like Def Leppard and Motley Crue to edge-of-Country bands like The Mavericks and the Desert Rose Band, you'd probably think that a review of a Statler Brothers' album would seem out of place. However, I must admit that I have a very soft spot in my heart for these guys. Growing up in southwest Louisiana, my dad ruled the radio and was the primary music buyer in the family. I was treated to acts like Merle Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, Fats Domino, and Marty Robbins. I also got a healthy dose of the Statlers who, other than Merle, were probably my dad's favorite artists. My first concert was a Statler Brothers show and I would eventually see them again in Dollywood a few years later. Their sound has stuck with me forever.
This particular album shows the Statlers at their finest: singing Gospel music. I'm not talking about modern Gospel sounds. Nope, I'm talking about Southern Gospel, complete with four-part harmony, string pickin' and plenty of "oomph" to get you on your feet. Contemporary Christian artists can't hold a candle to traditional Southern Gospel sounds. From the wonderful "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" to the upbeat gem that is "I'll Fly Away," this album is wonderful. My personal favorite tunes include "Precious Memories" and "Turn Your Radio On."
Yes, a kid who grew up with Guns N' Roses, Whitesnake, and Metallica does know what good music is. You may not fancy my other tastes in music, but give the Statler Brothers a try. You might be surprised at how much you will really enjoy them.
Highly recommended.
- This CD is a treasure for any Christian and Statler's fan. It will keep you humming all day.
- Yes! This CD is a winner!! Cannot beat the harmony of the Statler Brothers and there were plenty of selections for wonderful listening. Buy it!!

- every song he sings is beautiful. he puts so much soul in his music especially gospel songs.
- This was everything i expected it to be but more than that it lifted my soul and restored my faith
- Elvis Presley was a versatile Artist, but to me his best stuff was always his Gospel stuff and that to me showcased his artistry better than anything. His voice was so well Produced and balanced when he performed Gospel music. this Compilations covers all of his best gospel tracks and then some. a must have for any Elvis fan.
- The old songs were not changed. They were juist as I rembered them as a child.
- The CD was beautiful and perfect. I used express delivery, and it came right on time for my mother's funeral. I was very pleased.

5 comments about The Troublemaker.
- I don't even like gospel music and this is a good album, Willie Nelson is a real innovator, he can make something out of nothing. Aha but anyway, it's a great album that sounds really personal to Willie.
- I'm bought the Troublemaker on vinyl (or maybe it was cassette, I can't remember) way back in the day. I enjoyed it, and then kind of forgot about it. Until a couple of years ago, when I found this remastered CD with extra tracks.
This is vintage Willie Nelson, and that's a good thing. His sister Bobbie played piano. Doug Sahm, Larry Gatlin and others sang along.
My personal favorite track here is Uncloudy Day, but it's also fun to crank up those really rocking-out live tracks and share in the fun.
The Troublemaker stands the test of time, and it's good to see reviews from younger Willie fans who are also enjoying this piece of gold from the past.
- If you like Willie Nelson and Gospel Music, this album is a MUST HAVE! It's a perfect CD with Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin and Jimmy Day to name a few performing. What a group! Get the album.
- As a new fan of Willie Nelson, I was surprised to come across this album and its great reviews on Amazon. I had no idea it even existed. Most of Willie's older material, and even his new recordings, tends to get buried under the avalanche of the more polished, commercial pop that passes for country these days.
On Troublemaker, Nelson performs the classic gospel tunes with energy and obvious enjoyment, which makes for a very fun listening experience. Also, the sound is very well done; it's much cleaner than I expected. If you like good old fashioned country and/or gospel, your money would be well spent on Troublemaker.
- This is my favorite Willie Nelson album of all time. The album went to number 1 on the country charts in 1976 and went "Gold." The performances of Gospel classics are great, ranging from footstompin' to moving and peaceful. "Uncloudy Day" was a big hit and is included on several of his greatest hits compilations, but all the songs on here are very good. Highly recommended for any Willie Nelson fan or fan of Gospel.
