- This is a great album by Robert, yes I call him Robert because I met him several times while he was in So. Calif on tour thru the years, he was such a nice guy to everyone. This is early Robert Palmer friends, my 1st concert, I heard the whole album done live, along with other early classics. From One Last Look to Spanish Moon, Gotta Get A Grip to Some People Can Do What They Like, Robert's singing with such passion here. It's so refreshing to go back and listen to this Gem of Robert's collection. You'll love this CD.
- It is being remastered and is being rereleased. You don't have to pay 90 dollars. Take the time and shop around. Only 15.75
- had it on vinyl when new.
Definitely his best, but not about to pay $50 for used not to mention $90 for new.
Why isnt the record company releasing it again?
Most artists stuff is re-released when they pass for record company to cash in. Why not this one?
A great talent was lost. Got to see him live once.
- For those that have bought all the top rated Robert Palmer albums and have not heard this one, what were you thinking? This is in my opinion is thee best album that he had recorded, 'One Last Look' is a true love rock soul song and 'Spanish Moon' is a superb version. 'What Can You Bring Me' alone sells this cd but once you sit down and listen you will listen over and over. I burned out my album when this was issued and I'll probley do the same to this disc, the line up of musicians is great with many members of "Little Feat" complimenting Palmers soulful voice. I think you will find this one of his finest and one of the most under rated. God Bless Robert Palmer..
- I don't care what anybody says. THIS is THE place to start. This is THE GREAT unknown/forgotten Robert Palmer Album. don't do the collections. Get the real albums and start HERE. The title track, Gotta Get a Grip and ONE LAST LOOK are absolute CLASSICS!! ((not included on most (any?) of the best-of's.)) Almost worth it FOR THE COVER ALONE!! One of the coolest covers in all of Rock. A must-see up close, facial expression on the guy (it's RP), is priceless. and YES they corrected the cover, however in apparent HASTE as there be no "larger image"...
THIS and Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley are the place to start. (in that order) Rock On

- It is very difficult being the son of a great figure as MUDDY WATERS and be recognized worldwide and this is the case of BIG BILL MORGANFIELD, MUDDY WATERS's son.
This wonderful 'Blues in the Blood' is his last effort and is very good both in music performance and composition in which revises a bit of history within the Blues to interpret the style of Sonny Boy or Yank Rachell in "Evil", sound of the 30's or Jimmy Burn's in "Feel Like Dyin". Elsewhere the musicians faultlessly echo Chicago blues styles of the 50's and 60's on "Anything Just For You" and others, meanwhile BIG BILL has its own ideas presented in all its interpretations. A very good record, recommended and I give it 4 stars.
- THIS IS A GREAT MUSICAL ADVENTURE - IF YOU REALLY ENJOY GOOD BLUES ....BLUES WITH A BEAT, THIS IS IT! THERE ISN'T A BAD CUT ON THIS CD - IT RATES AS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. STARTING WITH BOOGIE CHILD...IT JUST KEEPS GOING
- Big Bill Morganfield's new record is great one. Its nice to get a modern blues record that doesn't have any bad songs on it for once. From top to bottom this is a top notch record worthy of your money. Morganfield's two earlier records I wasn't too fond of, but he has seemed to have found his nitch in the blues genre and the result is this effort. Stand outs on this record are Boogie Child (a nice tip to John Lee Hooker), Evil ( Great acoustic performance), and Hoochie Coochie Girl (What a groove!). The rest of the record is solid down-home blues album full of inventive blues songs that are definitely radio friendly. You might think this a minus (typically it is), but Morganfield pulls it off. Who says you can't have a great record and have it be commercial at the same time? Morganfield you should be proud, because no doubt your father would approve. I can't wait to hear what comes next.....ATL

- Johnny Nicholas is a genius of the blues and R&B. Too bad his output, typically on small labels, is so sparse. Find "Too Many Bad Habits" on Blind Pig records as an example. He covers a variety of R&B genres here: Texas, New Orleans, hard blues, to great effect, with guest stops by Marcia Ball, Kaz Kazanoff and other stalwarts. Highly recommended.

- You've got to hear this woman play. We've traveled all over to hear her. Her music is phenominal. Check out her web site (MelissaReaves.com) to check her show dates. If she's playing near you, GO. You won't believe how great she is. She can rock your world. Her voice is gritty, funky and sweet at the same time. The band can't be beat. Buy the CD you won't be sorry. It will leave you wanting more.

- Annie certainly has a wonderful voice, her genre is not my usual venue, but there is no denying her singing "Why" is one of those songs that becomes timeless, it just flows and wraps itself around you as you listen. All it took was one listen while fiddling around on the radio one day and I had to seek that tune out. Beautiful. Kudos Annie. Thanks.
- Diva shares every emotion possible in this CD.
Little Bird, Cold, Precious--all awesome!
- Annie Lennox ... thank you for decades of excellent work.
I'm fairly certain I own every CD you ever made. Including everything with The Eurythmics.
DIVA is my favorite. The strength of her voice, never stronger. The lyrics and melodies ... solid.
This is a CD that should be purchased, not downloaded from the internet.
You lose too much in a digital MP3 format.
This is a must own for anyone, any age group that loves music and a quality product.
- I still enjoy listening to this album 15 years after its release. Annie Lennox really delivered with an outstanding album of 11 tracks. Diva marked the departure from her collaborations with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and although there's not as much synth-pop on Diva, Lennox's lyrics on her solo work are just as honest and profound (if not more) as they are on her Eurythmics' compositions.
My favourite tracks are "Why" - this has got to be one of the most beautifully written songs of all time. This song is so emotive and one feels Annie's pain, particularly towards the end. Other standouts are "Cold", "Money Can't Buy It", "Precious" and especially, "The Gift".
If the Diva CD doesn't satisfy your hunger for Annie, pick up the Diva DVD, which features a collection of music videos from the album including "Why", "Legend In My Living Room", "Cold", "Money Can't Buy It", "Precious", "The Gift" and "Keep Young and Beautiful". Annie reinvents herself in each video to be consistent with the tone and feelings of each song. It's an absolute must-have for any Annie fan.
- Annie Lennox never disapoints, almost all of my favs are on this CD from "why" about a disintegrating relationship. "Money can't buy it" a quest for material things & loss of love, to a very intense "cold" about non-reciprocated love, we can all relate to her material at sometime in our lives, she has an incredible gift to express her heartache/passion &/or pain/joy through her awesome voice & lyrics.

- This song is great. Everytime i listen to it, i wanna hear again and again. Its been my fave song for years and still is. The melody is fantastic and Aaliyah's vocal slaps the beat with haunting vibes. Aaliyah + Timbaland = Genius! The original version is my fave but the New Remix featuring Missy Elliott is phat too. It's given a whole new flavour with Missy rapping like her old self again. Overall, its a superb song from an even stunning lady.
Regards Si
- This is a good single and I'm glad I have it and before it went of of print!
1.Album version- Same old version on the video and radio 2.Extended Mix- 8 min. long with extended beats and Aaliyah & Missy ad-libs. Plays with the chours and other various parts from the song. 3.Remix- New beat with same old unique Timbaland sounds. Songs good with a smoother R&B vibe. 4.Beat A Pella- Acapella with just the drum track playing. NO melody or anything just drums & vocals. 5.Instrumental- What can I say? 6.The New Remix- New beat raps and chours. Missy raps and Aaliyah belts out a new chopurs for everyone to learn & enjoy. The Beat changes halfway through the song and then at the end Aaliyah sings acapella and the original remix beat comes back in. This is a great single and If you don;'t have it you don't know what you're missing and if it it was still in circulation I would definately reccommend it!
- I listened to this track and i really enjoyed it. It is a very good song.
- AALIYAH should win some awards for Are you that somebody because it is none stop dancing in that video and thats the only video I wanted to watch when it first came out. They are not giving her credit for her music she should win The Lady of Soul Awards and the Video Music and the rest of them because she is a great performer.

1 comments about The Story of Tone-Cool, Vol. 1.
- The Massachusetts-based Tone Cool has been releasing fine discs for over eighteen years. In celebration of their 50th release, they've produced this 2-CD set that highlights their early years, and shows off the growth and expansion that marks their most recent releases. This collection samples tracks from the label's entire history, beginning with more straight-ahead blues sides from the early '90s, and progressing to a variety of blues-flavored works that add funkier rhythms, trip-hop studio production, and rock-oriented country blues.
The label's early years are represented here by the 1990 national break-through of Paul Rishell's "Blues on a Holiday," and harmonica-soaked tracks list James Montgomery's "Yonder's Wall" and label founder Richard Rosenblatt's 11th Hour Band's "UFO Alert." By the mid-90s, the label was attracting talents like noted harmonica players like George Mayweather and Rod Piazza, organist Tony Z (whose track on this collection, "Get Down With the Blues," features fine guitar playing from Duke Robillard), and R&B party combos like The Love Dogs. The label was also signing discoveries like teenage guitar prodigy Mike Welch, whose electric instrumental "Freezer Burn" is impressive enough without considering he was 16 when he recorded it. Throughout the end of the '90s, and into the new century, Tone Cool expanded its roster to include the sophisticated R&B vocals of Toni Lynn Washington, Terrance Simien's zydeco sounds and the New Orleans inspired piano virtuosity of David Maxwell. Further afield, Rick Holmstrom utilizes trip-hop styled studio wizardry, Hobex puts a techno edge on their blues and funk sounds, Double Trouble seamlessly mixes hard rock, funk, blues and soul, and Johnny Hoy & The Bluefish sing country-blues. Which isn't to suggest that the label has abandoned that which brought it to prominence; the blues are heard loud and clear in the works of Susan Tedeschi, Bernard Allison, as well as the on-going work of early Tone Cool artists. This is a fine document of a label formed by and for artists, rather than commerce. The consistency of the label's output (which is listed in full within the CD's booklet) is all the more impressive for the freedom with which they've pursued variations on their original theme.
