  1. This album is awesome Ray sounds good as ever on these New Jack Swing beats. Track 1. She Needs To Get Some is a great opener to the cd Track 2. Ain't Gone Go For That is another awesome song Track 3.I Love You Like You Are is a very nice song and very nice message unlike many songs that put people down because of their looks and appearances this song he says he loves the woman the way she is. 4.No Matter What Happens is another nice sounding uptempo song 5.Love Is So Strange another great groove 6.Girl I Saw You ok now this song is a little too much but still not bad 7.Til I Met You very good song awesome ballad this makes a great wedding song or song to dedicate to your special someone 8.Yesterday Another Good song 9.Angel Another good song 10.Let's Go Back To Bed Good Song 11.Love,Sex,And Money nice song 12.Square One pretty good song all and all I think this is an awesome cd and would recommend it to anyone that is a fasn of contemporary r and b.

  2. After debuting with the Raydioish 'The Other Woman",
following that up with the Princly albums 'Woman Out Of Control'
and 'Sex And The Single Man',then producing the adult soul of
'After Dark' Ray Parker Jr. concludes his solo career with an
album of...NEW JACK SWING?Why did he waste our time?I guess he
noticed how the industry picked up on the style after the recent
big hits by Bobby Brown and Boyz II Men and thought he'd try to cash in-bad move. Many of these songs such as the slightly
chauvanistic "She Needs To Get Some","Love Is So Strange","Girl I Saw You" and "Love,Sex And Money" are strong songs with
excellent hooks to them, but that mechanized, artificial New Jack
beat is like too much salad dressing-it softens the vegatables.
Thankfully some slower ballad material like "Til I Met You","Anegl" and the quircky "Square One" redeem the overall
albums uncertain air.Too bad Ray had to go out this way-he needs
to put out a new album to cover the bad taste of this one!

  1. you're into this groove. Mr Bryson takes you to smooth heaven with this polished performance. I don't think he's ever sounded better. A great collection of tunes from start to finish, and you don't want to miss any of these treats. Nice back in the day lyrics (I prefer the understated rather than "in your face"), a velvet voice, and great production. As been said before, it really doesn't get any better than this. Possibly his best.

  2. Maybe if I bought the newer collections, I'd enjoy it more. This is the 1991 recordings of the albums so the songs aren't that good in quality. too bad for me. I didn't know. Anyway, it's still good. My favorites are: "Can you stop the rain", "Lost in the Night", "Soul Provider" and "Closer than Close".

...I just have to adjust the volume controls to better my liking with this CD, to make it okay and more enoyable. I don't have to do this with the other music CDs I have.

  3. Words fail me when it comes to describing my absolute favourite male singer EVER. This guy has to be heard to be believed. It's incredible how smooth and silky his voice is and his music makes you melt. I was lucky enough to see him live in Las Vegas in 2000 at the Blue Note and I thought I was in heaven. This cd is incredible. Lost In The Night would have to be one of the most beautiful songs in the universe. Can You Stop The Rain is also beautiful and sad. He sings with such amazing emotion and sex appeal. This is a great bedroom cd. The only song on here I don't like is the remake of Soul Provider. I think that belongs only to Michael Bolton. Anyway; if you are a soul fan and don't have this - what's wrong with you? You have to own this and experience this superb talent for yourself. He is unfortunately so underrated, but better than anyone else out there.

  4. When Peabo sings, he doesn't plead nor does he beg, he makes you see things from his point of view, your stubborn heart will eventually melt under his romantic charms, he certainly has a way with his voice, I regard him as one of the premier balladers (alongside Luther Vandross & James Ingram) that the world has ever experienced.

With a Peabo album, you get more than you deserve - a quality album & his words of wisdom which you'll find on the CD inlay.

All tracks on this CD are of very high standard, what you get is a very refined vocal delivery, it is very difficult to single out a particular track, but my favourites on this CD are the album title, shower you with love, I wish you love, you don't have to beg, if it's really love & I can't imagine.

For those of you, who will be alone tonight, you need Peabo's album to minister to your heart. Can you stop the rain from falling?

  5. I so love to hear Peabo sign - I bought the CD just to listen to the title tune. He is an excellent arist.

2 comments about Texas Flood - Couldn't Stand The Weather - Soul To Soul (3 Pak).

  1. I purchased a "book" format box set called "Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Collection" because the price was very enticing for a three-disc box set, as advertised in the Tower ad. When I arrived at the store, I realized the "The Collection", one in a series of such collections by Columbia/Epic artists, was simply a re-packaging of this original box set, expanded versions of his first three albums, rather than a budget-priced "best-of" box that I expected. Well, I bought it anyway, and I'm glad I did. This is indeed the best way to introduce yourself to SRV's early releases, and the price is right. (Some fans may argue his first three releases contain most of his best work anyway.) The bonus tracks may seem repetitive as listed, but they are in fact very tasty alternate takes of the final versions. So don't let the deceptive packaging by Columbia/Epic fool you - both these collections are one and the same. And they are great.

  2. The best way to get all the original albums at one time. The music speaks for itself.

  1. The years have not diminished the powerful voice of the Great Odetta. I am often suprised how many people haven't even heard of her! She an American Treasure! This album features her with a superb back-up band and Odetta is as great singing the Blues as she is singing Folk. I have some of Odetta's live albums and I absolutely love how she can merge several songs into a "Suite" rather than a show biz medley. This is a different Odetta for me to hear and I am extremely pleased with this album. Whether she is recorded live or in the studio and whether she is singing folk or blues, Odetta is a truly great artist. I do recommend this album highly! One feels as if they are there in person. There is an intimate feeling to this Blues album which only adds to how fine it is. It got me snapping my fingers and moving to the music. Oh, Odetta is such a fine singer,so, so fine. ***** Five Stars for "Blues Everywhere I Go"!

  2. This Grammy nominated cd is amazing. Odetta's voice is still as powerful and unique as it ever was. Odetta is downright incredible on Dink's Blues and Blues Everywhere I Go. And evokes raw emotion on WPA Blues and You Aughta Know. I am very happy to see Odetta back with new material. She is one of best vocalists of all time and seems to carry her legendary status into the new millenium.

  3. I won't try to add to the superlatives that the other reviewers have written. This has rapidly become one of my favorite albums. I do have to say that I think the author of the liner notes missed the joke on "Can't Afford To Leave My Man."

  4. I had the distinct pleasure of hearing Odetta perform at my school. She has a warm and beautiful presence, and it comes through entirely in her wonderful voice. I don't love blues music, but I love Odetta! I very highly recommend this most recent collection of her songs.

  5. I was browsing the culture section of the Utne Reader when I ran across a review of Odetta's newest in years--the review was entitled "15 More Minutes" and it raved about "Blues Everywhere I Go", so I went out and got it. Guess what? It's every bit deserving of Utne's rave review, Amazon.com's double 5-star rating, and my humble "It will blow you away". Odetta's is in fine, though at times, weary voice, but that suits certain tunes well--just how long and in how many voices can the call to better mankind be, without showing some weariness, I ask you? Poignant, indeed, are the cuts, "TB Blues" and "Oh Papa". Welcome back, Odetta.
