- These are not the original recordings. Pacemakers fans beware that this is not what you think, but the live performances are nice!
- As the other reviewers have correctly stated, the material by The Searchers is all re-recorded with Mike Pender and a back-up band. It's not bad, but it's not the original recordings. 'Nuff said on that subject.
The nice suprise here is the Gerry & the Pacemakers recordings, several of which are live recordings. After the original Pacemakers disbanded, leader Gerry Marsden went into children's television and also continued performing in cabarets and on the "oldies" circuit in Britain and abroad. The live recordings included here apparently were recorded in 1981, as Gerry mentions, in the introduction to "Imagine," that the song was a tribute to his good friend John Lennon, "who was killed last year." In addition to "Imagine," Gerry performs two Billy Joel songs and a few other standards. Gerry also performs his own "Running Man" which is a pleasant surprise and shows that he was very capable of writing good pop tunes. The bottom line on this CD is that if you're a fan of Gerry Marsden, you'll get a chance to hear some live recordings made a decade and a half after his heyday with the original Gerry & the Pacemakers. He's still very much in fine form. Searchers fans will probably be disappointed unless you want to hear re-recordings of the old hits.
- Definitely beware! This CD is not "The Searchers" at all. It is Mike Pender's Searchers, a group formed by Mike Pender after he left the Searchers 16 years ago. The Searchers, lead by founder member John McNally who legally owns the name, continue touring successfully today, but this CD is NOT them.
- Without any warning from amazon. com, all of these hits are not original recordings. For those who want original recordings, please stay clear from this bomb.I feel like I have been cheated out of my money, and it really makes me hesitant to buy from amazon again.

- I think this product is an outstanding offer, it allows some one to get various songs from various artists that can not be found in stores. I am happy I purchased the item. I think if more stores offered things like Amazon does there would be a chance for boosting the economy to keep rising inflation down.
- This is an enjoyable, eclectic trip down the road to yesteryear, but I can't really call this "mainstream." It's a soundtrack to an imaginary movie that nobody has ever made. The variety of styles take you to different places, depending on how long you've been around, but you don't have to be a certain age to appreciate this material. It really gripes me when some kid doesn't realize that Paul McCartney and George Harrison were in the same band, if they have even heard of them at all. They say things like, "...well, that's before my time..." BULL! Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry were before "my time," and I like them just fine. None of this material is new, and despite the digital age, it sounds old. But not in the bad sense. I am of the age where I remember these selections first-hand, and felt threatened when they phased out vinyl records (weren't 8-tracks a trip?); If nothing else, the tactile experience of opening the record you just bought, usually for about $5.00 ($7.00 if it were a double record), seeing a lyric sheet, sometimes a poster, promotional materials, and elaborate artwork are a thing of the past, unless you pay beaucoups bucks for a huge box-set; it's now more common than it was a few years ago, but it's just not the same.
For the most part, these selections are just what the title says it is; "One Hit Wonders." For the most part, they have all done other material, but these are what you will most likely hear on the radio (some stations specialize in "Oldies") from these people.
For the most part, they are basic feel-good songs ("Come On To My Boat," "Reach Out Of The Darkness," etc), and some silly "fluff;" it's hard to believe "Dominique" was an actual "hit." You have the obligatory novelty record, Bobby Pickett's "Monster Mash," still a staple on oldies stations, especially around Halloween, and the bizarre (but really cool) "Jungle Fever," some mellow crooning material, and a few heavy-hitters to boot. "Reflections Of My Life" is still an extremely emotional, introspective song, even this many years later...and then you have Coven's "One Tin Soldier," the reason I bought this disc. There is a better version out there somewhere, on some 70's compilation record, I will find it some day, but the one here suffices just fine; I LOVE this song. It's one of those selections that is usually accompanied with people screaming "...Turn It DOWN!..." I know, I have never grown up.
The generic packaging, and limited (not really LIMITED, I guess) format sort of knocked a star off for me, but I am not complaining. I am glad I bought this disc, and will probably get several more in this, and similar series.
"...one tin soldier rides away..."
- I actually bought this cd for 'Reflections of My life' and 'Montego Bay' more than the other songs. I loved "One Tin Soldier" when it was released in 1969 by 'The Original Caste', but was unimpressed by Coven's version of it when they recorded it in 1971. I like most of the songs on this cd even if they aren't on my list of 'essentials' and am happy with my purchase.
- I WAS SUPRISED AT HOW FAST IT ARRIVED AND IT HAD THE SONGS I WANTED
- Outstanding cd.......found the song I had been looking for for a long time. Price was more than reasonable and delivery on time.

- This is a very good set of original hits by the original artists! It is a nice variety of artists that were all in their own way very important to the British Invasion! Especially nice is the marvelous Chad & Jeremy hit "A Summer Song"! I would highly recommend this CD!
- BAD imitations for the most part

1 comments about Rockin' Guitars.
- The best part about this CD is that it brings together a few difficult to locate guitar-oriented songs in their original versions: "Only You Know and I Know," "Don't Misunderstand Me," and "The Pusher." Most of the others can be found on better compilations. Caveat emptor: "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry is a live version, but the others are genuine recordings, including the full version of "Free Bird" in its original studio version.

1 comments about I Wanna Come Back From the World of LSD.
- Some had talents and some ain't got it. The Fe Fi 4 Plus 2, The Lincoln St. Exit, The Lemon Drops, The Bluethings had potentials, just wondering why they didn't make it big. There were nice attempts to duplicate Yardbirds' For Your Love, Music Machine's Talk Talk, but the Kinks' Well Respected-Man was butchered by Yesterday' Children. Rare groups and some never heard songs worth listening to, at least once.

5 comments about Encomium: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin.
- Whoever decided that it would be good to get together musicians like Stone Temple Pilots and Helmet and get them to do Ledzep tributes surely deserves a medal - this is awesome stuff. As a Blind Melon fan starved of new input I was a willing sucker, but it was surprising to be so blown away by Zep tributes by Linda Perry, Hootie and the Blowfish and the rest. If you love rock music there's something here for you - if you love LedZep you'll appreciate the respect in each and every of these stunning tributes.
- I'm a Zep fan for 30 years now, still listening to the Zep classics. This disk is one of my favorites as it breathes new life into Zep's old art. Sheryl Crowe's funky interpretation of D'yer Mak'er is particularly good. Fortunately, these artists stayed away from Zep's best known material (although Heart did a great job with Rock'n Roll years ago).
- Encomium:Tribute to Led Zeppelin.
Out of the gate, I'll say my personal favorite here is STP's Dancing Days. The whole understated vibe of it worked. It honors the vibe and feel of the original while STP puts thier subtle stamp on it. Overall, a very cool cover. It reaffirms my belief that STP is one of the most underappreciated 90s rock bands.
Being a big fan of Zep, its nice to see some bands taking the music in a whole different place. Sheryl Crow not my favorite artists by anymeans does a interesting job with D'yer Mak'er. She makes it more poppy, but keeps it interesting. This does have its limits. Tori Amos along with Plant doing "Down By the Seaside" just didn't work for me. Its just too far removed from the original to be recognizable to me.
Others who put on reasonable performances are Hootie and the Blowfish, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Duran Duran and Cracker.
The stinkers of the album are the Rollin's band stuff, Helmet and Never the Bride. Henry Rollin's screaming style and David Yow, just don't compliment the material. Its my belief when doing a cover try to compliment it.
As to the song selection it isn't too bad. The cliche's are avoided ala Rock and Roll or Stairway. You see some interesting choices like Custard Pie and Four Sticks. I would've loved to see someone try to have tackled In the Evening.
Overall, for what it is its interesting. Shows the creativity of the artists taking the material and putting thier spin on it. That equals some good times and bad times.
- I lost this CD a few months ago, but I used to listen to it occasionally. Most of the songs on this disc are very good, but for my money, the best track on here is "Thank You" performed by Duran Duran. I really don't like Duran Duran so I was pretty surprised by that. Most of the other tracks are good too. If you like Zep, this is definately a disc to check out if you are looking for something different.
- Led Zeppelin really is one of the greatest legendary band in the world. They sold more albums than The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson combined. They even have two of the biggest selling albums of all time. On this compliation popular names like Duran Duran, Sheryl Crow and Hootie & The Blowfish cover very popular Zep tunes. However nobody has done a cover od Zepplin's most popular tune Stairway to Heaven.
