- The cd set has a variety of gospel music. There's something for everyone. I've enjoyed listening to it!
- The compostions by a number of traditonal contemporary artists make this CD wonderful for easy listening. I enjoyed the music with its upbeat rythm and poignant message it conveys. A beautiful spiritual message conveyed with rythm and joyful singing.I carry this CD in my car to listen during my travels. A delightful cocktail of revival, spiritually uplifting and fills the listener's heart with Peace and hope.
Everyday Miracles: Stories That Touch Your Heart
- Every song on this CD is great. I listen to it on my way to work every morning to keep me lifted and motivated. I blast it so that every person on the street can hear it, not because I want too but because they need to know how good God is to my family and to me.
- I've been following gospel music for some time as both a fan and a performer. While I haven't been playing much over the last few years, the WOW gospel series has helped me to stay current with gospel music and find new artists that inspire me. Putting together a top shelf gospel compilation is a real challenge. On the one hand, many worshippers like the big choir sound of artists like Hezekiah Walker. Others dig the more urban contemporary tracks that borrow more heavily from R&B. This compilation is great because it's an affordable compilation that will expose you to a wide range of talented artists.
There are some classic tracks on this album. "Stomp" was a big hit of course, one of the first tunes to really crossover from gospel radio to R&B radio stations. While you may disagree with a gospel song based on a Funkadelic sample, you can't deny its impact and its influence on what choirs are doing today. I dig "No Weapon" even though it's a remix of the Fred Hammond song. I have the original on another compilation so this version was a good addition to me. Likewise "Speak to My Heart" is not the classic New York Restoration Choir version, but a new modern reworking by Donnie McClurkin.
There are many other standout tracks as well. "Shout" by Milton Brunson is a jam and a half, up there with things like "My Mind's Made Up" [not included on this compilation]. "He Did It All" is a different kind of tune for John P Kee, one that uses New Orleans trombone in a way that shows that he understands the roots of gospel music. "I've Got a Testimony", "Total Praise" and "Order My Steps" are tunes that many church choirs have performed since they were recorded. Here you get the original versions.
Only a few of the tunes made me scratch my head. Donald Lawrence's "Stranger" sounds like a bad imitation of Kirk Franklin and his spoken stuff unfortunately dominates his choir. Two moments that may have been good live are unfortunately recorded on this CD: "Mother Sherman Story" has almost five minutes of Carlton Pearson testimony before it starts and "Helen's Testimony" isn't even a song. "Helen's Testimony" is about 8 minutes of her testifying about how low she fell before accepting Christ and about how her grandmother prayed for her. Some listeners will be moved by that, but I found it repetitive after listening to it a couple of times.
The few mistakes on this compilation don't diminish its impact and the value of this series. For those of us who can't afford buying 25-30 quality gospel CDs a year, you get much of the best gospel and can really decide which artists you want to get know even better.
4.5 stars

- This album is i think one of the best in the WOW Gospel Series. Songs like "I Got a Testimony" and "Be Encouraged" are a blessing, and uplifting. "Order My Steps" and "The Battle is The Lords" are powerful. "Total Praise" by Richard Smallwood, words can not express how much this song speaks to my soul. This album is a must have in the series.

- An excellent choice if you like country and gospel. A nice mix of old gospel sung by some of country's greatest voices. Makes a great blend when mixed with other Southern gospel CDs.

5 comments about My Utmost for His Highest: The Covenant.
- HI: I just bought this CD and I really like it. It is a great CD for anytime. The songs are great and not old churchy. I like listening to this Cd during stressful periods in my days, and when I am exercising.
The songs are wonderfully written and the vocals to match them. The words really make you think about your soul and your choices in life.
I wish there were more songs on this CD. I want to hear the next compilation for MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST. I also bought the other CD for My Utmost for his highest and I really enjoyed both.
- This CD was released 8 months after the huge success of the first My Utmost for His Highest project. Unfortunately, it failed to sell in the same numbers as the first. I will admit that at first, I didn't like it as much as the first. But it has grown on me, and now I like it more.
In my mind, one of the reasons it failed to sell in the same numbers as the first is that it doesn't have the name recognition the first did. While the first had Amy Grant, 4Him, Point of Grace, etc., this one has Anointed, Clay Crosse, Greg Long, and Lisa Bevill, among others. Michael W. Smith does make a return visit for two songs, the incredible SOMEDAY (SET THE CHILDREN FREE) and a recording with Anointed of JOYFUL, JOYFUL that's similar to Crown Him with Many Crowns from I'll Lead You Home. Still, the reason this CD is so powerful is because of the overall theme and message of the songs. The idea was to release a collection around God's covenant with us and our response to it. When I really sat down and listened to the CD with that in mind, I was blown away. Some of the lyrics include: "I have made a promise/And so it will be...I belong to you/And you to Me." "I say it's a promise/A covenant, a destiny/I will come to set My children free." Susan Ashton contributes a beautiful version of Psalm 121 taken almost word for word from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible. By the time I reach the response to God, I find it easy to be praying "I promise all of my ways" and can claim the promise that "We will follow You, knowing You'll lead us through." The two instrumental songs, incorporating melodies from the other songs, add to the reflective mood. This CD belongs in every Christian home. It is a great reminder of Who is ultimately in control of our lives and our world, and what He has promised to those who believe in Him.
- I loved this CD as much as the first one. If you have read Oswald Chamber's book, heard the first CD or are looking for an inspirational religious CD with music to please every taste, you have to buy this CD!
- A perfect sequal to "My Utmost For His Highest". You truly feel the Spirit! A wonderful mix of todays top gospel musicians. Contemporary mixed with traditional. Make sure you read the excerpts on the inside cover!
- The technical mixing of the CD is top quality! We have a surround sound home theater system, and you can hear every instrument and voice distinctly. The separation is superb! The music is annointed and Jesus' presence enters as you praise Him and listen to this music. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone that wants to enter into God's presence.

1 comments about The Wonderful Cross.
- This CD is full of songs that are familiar and contemporary but avoids the trap of selecting songs that are "me focused" that glorify God only for what He does for us. The songs are easy to sing along with, and are beautifully performed by the various artists. The different tempos, styles and sounds of the songs in lyric, voice and instruments give this collection a nice variety that will appeal to a broad cross section of preferences. This has become one of my favorite albums, and I'm usually a hymns-only kind of girl!

- CD is excellent. Teenagers will appreciate the one Messianic RAP song. This is a must own of Worship.
- This selection of worship songs of the Messianic Genre is excellent and a great addition to your collection. I found that the music selected was of high calibur and for the person just beginning to study or wonder about Messianic Judaism it is a great source of inspiration and for those who have been involved and Practicing it a lot of familiar name form the messianic music scene pop up on the CD like Paul Wilbur & Ted Pearce.

5 comments about Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs.
- I have been a big customer of this CD series. I have bought every one of them from 1996-2005. The first few CDs in the series were not that great, because they would have a few contemporary christian songs and then they had a whole bus load of the crummy Gospel music. However, the WoW 1999 was the first year where they really said o.k. lets lose the gospel and stick to the contemporary rock/pop/alternative/rap Christian music. This set includes Third Days wonderful song "Agnus Dei" originally recorded by Michael W. Smith, Third Day takes it into a new genre Rock. Then there is The W's The Devil is Bad a hip swing tune about the temptation of the devil in our lives. Then we have one of the first appearances of Nichole Nordeman and Jeniffer Knapp.
To tell you the truth, if the company who puts out this series had not put this album out, I would not have bought another WoW CD simply because Gospel is not my kind of Music. However, because this CD was released I have continued buying into this franchise and I have been very pleased with every album since. Thank you for reading my review!
- This is one of the best Wow's ever made. It is such a random compilation that it actually works. There were some great bands back then. Three of my favorites Christian Artists, Smalltown Poets, Newsboys, and dc Talk all make an appearance on this stellar album.
- The only reason this album doesn't get 4 stars, is the inclusion of a few songs that I didn't feel mixed well into the collection. Namely, "His Cheeseburger." Don't get me wrong, the Veggietales are great, but the song on its own doesn't make much sense without the video.
However, the album is terrific regardless. It features one song that I am surprised didn't get more airplay "Strollin' on the Water". A very unique sound, that really resonates the longing to take those leaps of faith with Christ. To be fearless for God.
- This is by far the number one WOW cd of all times. Its got some of the best bands ever on it, like the Newsboys,DC Talk(Before they broke up), Smalltown Poets, Jars of Clay, and Supertones. What a combination! The WOW cds are a great alternative to burning cds. Why do you burn cds? so that you can get all of your favorite songs on one cd. WOW allready has most of my favorite songs on it. So I can legally listen to them. What a great idea!
- I absolutly love the first tape/c.d. in this set, the songs are well aranged to compliment and contrast each other. It's uplifting to listen to, and I never hit the skip button. However....the second tape, I don't like at all, and never even listen to anymore, I don't think the songs sound good together, and I just don't think they're as good as the first tape. But, in the end, I'd have to say that the first tape is worth paying for the full set.
