  1. I bought this for myself, not realizing it was choir music. I ended up giving it to my mother and she was very pleased. The songs are beautiful and well done.

5 comments about I Could Sing of Your Love Forever.

  1. This collection is absolutely wonderful. Whether you listen to this in your room or in your car you will feel uplifted and relaxed after listening to this album. Both the Live and Studio CD's are well balanced with a variety of songs and artists. This makes a great gift for others. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

  2. I love this album thanks to sonic flood. Before this album I did not know they existed. I wish SF sang every song. The lead singer's voice is so amazing!

  3. Released in August of 2000, this 2-CD disc contains some of the best praise & worship songs written to date. Compiled by various artists, including SONICFLOOd, Matt Redman, Delirious?, and Passion, this compilation has one studio recorded disc and one live disc.

Because of the nature that is praise & worship music, the live disc is, by default, the better of the two discs (though I actually like more of the songs on the first disc).

If you are looking for a praise & worship album you can use at home to help you to sing to the Lord, this compilation is one of the best you can get.

  4. I love this cd! It gets you on such a spiritual high and you just cant stop singing to it. There are two cds that rock. I just want to sing forever and ever. The songs are great too. You'll love it. If I was a critic I would give it a "Seal of Christ"

  5. This cd is absolutely beautiful. It expresses everything that I feel!!! :o) I love it so much. It helps me in my love for God. If you are looking for another way to express your love for the Lord, then this cd is for you.

5 comments about WOW 2001.

  1. Contemporary Christian music involves such a varied range of styles and mood that to offer a fair and enjoyable sampling is a tough task. In the past, the songs released on WOW anthologies have been conservative at best, profiling mostly the mainstream pop samples of the industry's top artists. With WOW 2001 (and its equally enjoyable 2002 successor -- which is why my review of this and 2001's issue are pretty similar), listeners who prefer their music a little louder and more energetic are, at last, given attention! The heavier tunes are mostly centered within one disc, whereas the more mainstream pop tunes on the other. This is an excellent idea, as people can have a "favorite" of the two discs based on their style. The songs flow extremely well together, and you're left with the sense that much care was taken to make this an overall enjoyable, and educational experience. It's a nice feeling to be able to praise God while at the same time slapping your hands on the steering wheel!

  2. I think this cd was kindof a dissapointment. Fo one thing, the dc talk song there. I ean, that song is ok but it was made in 1998. And the P.O.D. song? They should hve put more rocky songs on this cd. This cd is 2001's most forgotten hits to me. I mean, they could have at least put a better P.O.D. song on it. P.O.D. is second favorite band. And whenIheard they were on it, i was s excited. Then i got really mad when i heard it. I think wow 2002 is the best ne yet. I'm not sure about 2003 because i haven't heard it yet.

  3. All I can say about this cd is WOW!! Another great mix of Christian songs. You will love it!!!

  4. I ws looking at the cover of my mom's WOW 2001, and then I looked at the track listing. Then it hit me, something is wrong here. On the front it says, "The Year's 30 Top Chrisitan Arists & Hits." If you're going to be honest, call it The 30 best CCM (emphasized) hits. The hardest it gets is POD & Earthsuit. The two from them are ulrta-calm considering the rest of the albums that they came off of.

Maybe they could sneak in "Treasure" from tree63, the 2000 Dove Rock Album of the Year winners.(its really pretty soft, though) How about something from Pillar's "Above," 2000 Hard Rock CD of the year? How about something like "Unsaid" from MXPX's "The Ever-Passing Moment."

MORE ROCK TRACKS, & THESE WILL MAKE MY WISH LIST!!!

  5. It must have been the year for Christian music. So many of these songs are classics! For a new listener to Christian music, these songs were quite palatable for me, who was use to to pop, Top 40 type songs.

I would list my favorites but there are so many. There's a mixture of pop, dance, urban, gospel, A/C, rock, latin and I think country-flavored songs.

    Go for it! Buy it!

1 comments about The Rough Guide to Gospel.

  1. As a great lover of good gospel music for a long time, I really appreciate a compilation such as this. As it says in the notes on the CD, this music is rooted in slavery and is probably the best-loved American music around the world. Most of these pieces feature a highly evocative and emotional style along with rhythms with a powerful beat that would be comfortable to any rock and roll fan. Among the best songs are those by The Staple Singers led by Mavis and Pop Staples and, of course, Mahalia Jackson epitomizes the power of these "spirituals". There aren't many gospel compilations with this quality and variety.

5 comments about Wow Gospel 2003.

  1. If you get this CD, you WILL be blessed; they have been a balm to me; There was a song on this CD that I was looking all over for, and yesterday, I was looking for a song ("Do His Will" by the Rance Allen Group), and come to find out, I HAD the very CD myself; oh, what a blessing; So, now I have really wore this CD out since I found out I had it; My favorites is "Counterfeit Religion" by Dottie Peoples, "Drug Me" by the Canton Spirituals, and of course "Do His Will". that whole CD is all that, it will be a balm and blessing to you.

  2. This compilation is the BEST of the WOW Gospel series in 3 years. Even Zomba thinks so, as the back CD cover says this is the most successful installment. No disrespect to WOW Gospel 2000-2002, but this compilation is just as good as 1998 & 1999 (which I consider the best). Maybe it's because of the quality of artists this past year or something else. The music is funkier, soulful, praiseworthy, and worth repeated rotation.

Progressive/Urban Gospel listening folks won't be disappointed in Disc 1. It alone is worth the price. Too many standouts to name, but 'King of Glory', 'God Has Not 4Got', 'That Ain't Nothin', 'Anyhow', 'Beautiful', and 'Without Him' are my favorites. I can't listen to Disc 1 without playing Tonex's 'God Has Not 4Got' and 'Anyhow' at least twice.

Traditional folks usually got their 'Praise On' with Disc 2. This time around, the titles and tempo are better mixed making for greater continuity. This ain't your Granny's Disc 2 this time and it actually sounds like it's part of the same compilation. 'In The Sanctuary', 'Anthem of Praise', 'He's The Greatest', 'There's Nobody Like Jesus', 'Praise Is What I Do', and 'Glad About It' are my favorites.

My only criticisms are the song editing and selection. They chopped the last 30 secs from Fred Hammond's 'That Ain't Nothin', cutting out a harmonizing-testifying-old school riff of praise. 'Let Us Worship Him' is a great song, however it is circa 1998. Would have rather heard something from her (Yolonda Adams) new album in it's place. Mary Mary's 'Can't Give Up Now' is also a great song, but it's circa 2001. Regardless of this, the album is exceptiontionally well compiled.

  3. Never had purchased anything from the WOW series....probably won't purchase another again... I love gospel music, but this is far from being among the best of the best

  4. All phases of gospel are represented. From contemporary, to hand clapping church classics, to old school quartets. All the top gospel songs of the year are on this album. The WOW Gospel compelations just keep getting better every year. I collect each and every one and can't wait til 2004 is released.

  5. From "God has not forgot" to "Secret Place" to "He's the Greatest" this CD is amazing. I've never listened to a Wow Gospel CD where I did not skip over a single song. Songs that you can dance and shout to or sit and relax while meditating to, truly a great buy especially for the price. I think Wow has outdone themselves and finally a CD worthy of the reputation.

5 comments about America's 25 Favorite Hymns, Vol. 1.

  1. This is a beautiful cd of of classic hymns, I purchased this one many years ago and enjoy it so much I am buying this one to replace it.Beautiful class arrangements, the choir is excellent!Just takes you back to Church and Sunday school as a young child.

  2. I listen to different types of music. Chinese, 'NSync, Bee Gees and Classical. I found out this America's 25 favorite Hymns CD in a library. It is absolutely the best. I will now buy one.

    John

  3. If you're looking for a contemporary accompaniment to classic hymns, then this is the collection for you. Beautiful orchestration uplifts a small, but good, ensemble. Look for the split track version if you'd like a great hymn soundtrack collection for church or solos.

  4. My only criticism is that had they made this the 20 favorite hymns, they would've had more room on the cd for more verses of the songs.

  5. It is quite possible that I am in the minority when I say this, but I much prefer a deep, choral sound when I listen to hymns. The performances here do not bring out an efficient, organized sound. The choice of songs on this disc is wonderful, but I would go for something different.

2 comments about Wade In The Water [4-CD BOX SET].

  1. This compilation is an educational and inspirational program which chronicles a little known segment of AMERICAN music!!! It is fabulous. There is something for everyone. Truly to gift to the world.

  2. I have never heard such pure perfection in vocals. Rich, outstanding recording quality (surpassing Smithsonian norm). Not necessarily for the taste of "contemporary" gospel fans, this set is for people who love old gospel music, acapella perfect, that sends chills down your neck and warms your heart.

5 comments about For This Cause : Hillsong Live Worship.

  1. As always, Hillsong has a freshness to their songs that goes the distance. This is one of their older projects, but filled with upbeat worship songs, as well as great ballad style worship songs. I highly recommend this one!

  2. I love how this album starts off on One Day,(one of my favorite Hillsong Songs) then goes straight into Faith (my favorite song in this album)with lots of Spanish horns and rythms. I also think For this Cause, Carry Me, and Lifted Me High are also good songs.
All in all, this album is worth getting.

  3. THEY ARE A VERY SPECIAL GROUP WORKING FOR OUR LORD, JUST LISTEN

  4. I bought this to have "Faith" (the song, too :) ), after our praise band sang it. All the songs are wonderful. The only complaint I have with the album is Darlene Zschech's inability to talk between songs other than a high-pitched monotone yell.

  5. I love the music on the album, it's refreshing and uplifting.

2 comments about 30 Classic Hymns.

  1. I thought this album was great - very well played and easy to sing to. I needed a "fill-in musician" for church while ours took a much needed vacation. This album worked great for that. The congregation was able to easily sing along.

  2. I was very disappointed with this instrumental collection of hymns. They all seem to be played by one person on a keyboard, although occasionally the keyboard is used to simulate more than one instrument. The playing is bland and without energy.
