2. This is an excellent presentation of glorious music which helped to save the sanity and physical being of slaves.



3. I listen to the last two songs (Ain't Got Time to Die & Wade in the Water) over and over and over again. Selections 5, 7, 10, 16, and 17 are great for sing-along. Seven more still have appeal. 14 of 19 - a better than average CD!



4. Spirituals as presented in the concert tradition, such as were performed by the Jubilee Singers after the Civil War. As such, they are not intended to sound like "field recordings" (as one reviewer here had apparantly expected) but rather, polished concert performances. The documentation (liner notes, bibliography, etc) is outstanding...one could teach a workshop just using the CD and notes.

5. This is a nice recording and it is well done. The quality of the music is very good but I was disappointed. All of the pieces are performed by choirs and as such are not true to the spiritual in its purest form. These are songs intended to be sung by people that are weary and heavy laden looking for rest. These are very personal songs which should be sung from the heart by a single voice. If not a single voice, a small group. If you are looking for spirituals sung by a large choir in a tightly controlled environment, this is for you. If you are looking for songs which are sung from the heart and soul, this is not it.

1. This is a wonderful collection of rich traditional & contemporary gospel music. The only negative thing I gave to say is I wish this particular album would have had about 14-16 more songs and was a dual-cd.

1. I have a lot of Christmas music CD's, and this is a great addition. It has quite a variety of musical styles and it's nice to have a CD that doesn't sound like every other CD I already have.

1. This CD is even better than I expected. It has all the great songs that put me into worship mode again and again. The songs say what I feel. I recommend it to everyone.



2. A mixture of Southern gospel sung by some of the very best voices that ever sang. This CD brings back memories of the days when an old school, or retired 'grayhound' bus would pull into our church parking lot and I would watch joyfully as these rhythm makers arrived to make our hearts sing praises to God. I pray that this type of happy music will always be around to, "make a joyful noise unto the Lord"!



3. When they say the top 20 they weren't kidding. If you use a MP3 player while walking or exercising you will love listening to this. This is a really great album. Also introduces you to some gospel groups you may not have heard of. Buy it you'll like it!



4. This is the best CD I've ever bought in my 40+ years! If you love southern gospel, you'll like this CD.



5. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THIS RECORDING--IT IS GREAT, FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL AND VERY ANNOINTED.--IF YOU NEED A BLESSING,PURCHASE IT TODAY. I WOULD NEVER SELL MINE IF I KNEW I COULD NOT GET ANOTHER ONE.

1. I was wandering at a local Christian book store at afternoon one day and suddenly was caught with attention by the music from the speakers. I asked the woman working at the store and she said 'You love Bluegrass?'
   I never heard of Bluegrass before,but I was sure I wanted to own their CD and know more about them.

1. I still cannot believe there are so many great songs on this one CD. A great buy for any rock fan!



2. I really enjoyed this DVD. It did have some songs on it however that I wouldn't myslef classify as "rock". There is Underoath, Chasing Victory, but there are bands like Mae too, which didn't exactly intrigue me.



3. This is an outstanding album. As With all the X series it gives a look into the contemporary Christian Rock. The sampling is very upbeat and all the songs are catchy after two listenings you are hooked. Most songs deliver a christian message others are clean and uplifting. The Christian Rock/contemporary music sampled here is much better than hymns and gets the kids and some of us older kids moving. But back in the day Hymns were contemporary. I would much rather have the kids singing this in the back seat than the Iron Maiden I used to listen too!!!!



4. I do like the fact that our Youth can enjoy Music with out Sex,Drugs,and Self. I just am sad about the lack of true Doctrinal Theme to these song's that are more POP than Truth. Great beat and good vocal's on some and they accomplish what they mean to.Dont ever forget the true sweetness of the Hynm's and the attitude of Worship He requires.Never desire POP-Christian Song's more than His WORD,Lord may it never be.Amen
