5 comments about 100 Toddler Favorites (20th Birthday Collection).
- Our 18 mo old has been listening to this for nearly a year and absolutely loves it!! He does hand motions for "Wheels on the Bus" and giggles at the elephant on Old MacDonald's Farm (it's also a peanut farm, ha ha). We like the jazzy twist put on some songs, and that it also includes spoken nursery rhymes - overall, a great variety and not the same old stuff. I know some folks were disappointed, so I suggest you listen to a few clips and decide for yourself. We really do enjoy it!
- This CD set was a serious disappointment. No wonder it was so inexpensive. My toddler was annoyed with the adult and child voices in most of the songs, and I was sad to hear many of the traditional song words changed. In total, only a handful of the songs are fun and enjoyable. Too bad--if done well, this group of songs would be a great collection.
- ACompilation of many old favorites a annoyingly sung. After less than half way through one side, I had to stop. The adult singers are awful; words are changed to no good effect. I've got a pretty high tolerance for kid music, but this stank!
- This set has all the songs kids love and more! As a preschool teacher I know which songs get the kids going and they are all in this collection. There are a variety of voices including kids and the music is upbeat and fun for adults who have heard the same songs a million times!
I bought this for my 6-week old daughter but so far her grandma I are enjoying it more than she is!
- I think this is an excellent collection -- four full CDs of music for a great price. You can always trust the people at Music for Little People to put a lot of thought and talent into their recordings. New twists on old favorites make this collection loads for fun for both children and adults. I love the variety of musical genres and the people singing are obviously having a great time. The third and fourth CDs are the favorites in our family -- number 3 is the Play collection including a great jump rope melody and a new one for me, "Pick a Bale O'Cotton" which is a perfect song for clean-up time. Number 4 is Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies, also includes tongue twisters (and a great voice comes out of the speaker blowing a trumpet and proclaiming "it's tongue twister time!"). The lullaby collection is short but sweet (8 songs) and is guaranteed to put my kids to sleep by "All the Pretty Little Horses".
I love that I have a whole new range of kid songs in my repertoire -- and was able to re-discover some old favorites. Like lots of moms, I'm thinking I don't know a lot of songs to sing but as I heard these CDs I kept saying, oh I know that one. and after a few repetitions, I feel comfortable belting them out on my own. Remember "Clementine," "Tisket a Tasket," "This Little Light of Mine," or "Muffin Man"? I love that I can read a collection of childrens rhymes and verses and have a tune associated with them -- when I read "Old Roger" in Looking Forward by Molly von Heider, I immediately knew what song she was talking about. I think this CD set is a wonderful buy. You'll get a lot of use out of it.

- I had almost given up on buying a music CD for my 18-month-old. I had previously bought one (Tunes for Toddlers) that was basically a bunch of old British people singing. Since we're not British, it got annoying and I felt my toddler might not recognize some of the words due to the slight pronunciation differences.
I lucked out when I picked this up at Wal-Mart for ten bucks. This is a fabulous CD for toddlers or children up to 10 years of age. It has a large variety of songs on it...I believe 75 songs total. They are all fun songs and most of them have children singing them. Songs like Apples and Bananas; Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes; Five Little Monkeys, and so much more!
The songs are not annoying aside from maybe 3 or 4 out of the whole lot...one in particular is Tah Rah Rah Boom Dee Aye--I believe that is how it is spelled. And the Woodchuck song. They are both extremely repetitive and only say one thing the entire song, but other than that the songs are fabulous and they get my little boy dancing every time.
I recommend this CD to any parent looking for musical entertainment for their child.

- My kid has some speech problems that make it hard for him to talk clearly. It is also difficult to get his attention. This CD works with him he asks for it the minute he gets in the car. Some times during the day you can hear him repeating the exercises.

- This CD was a big disappointment. I was hoping for the REAL renditions for my child's birthday party, and BOY, while these are the real words, and sung in tune by adults, they are not the songs I remember listening to. (At least they are sung in tune, although there is not a drop of passion in it.)
Perhaps I can get my money's worth out by hanging it outside to scare the crows away.
- These songs are definately for younger kids, but not even six year olds, younger. I do like "Achy Breaky Heart"Okay and I like"Hands Up" Alot, but most of it is for young kids. Good-bye.
- Young kids really do dig this CD, and the bonus is that parents can tolerate it pretty well also, often even singing along. You wouldn't want to hear it every day, but it's a great choice for birthday parties. Though if your kid is old enough to worry about being cool, this probably isn't the CD for you. LOL
- My kids love it. I only wish the music was by the original artists. ( I know, what do you want for a cheap price and an item targeted for kids...)
- This is all feel-good music. We have listened to the tape while in the car until it has worn out. Thank you amazon.com. We could not find it anywhere else. Not even the company who made the tape could locate it for us. Now we've ordered the CD, and my husband even asked us to order one for his new car.

- We love this CD! Puff the Dragon and Somewhere Over the Rainbow are great! It's nostalgic for me, and fun for my little girl!
- I bought this for my oldest son when he was two and he loved it. There were both familiar and new songs for him on it - but all of them were good. Also, it's not so bad for an adult to listen either.
- This is definitely a cut above most music for kids, and we often listen to it over dinner. The first half is EXCELLENT, with the original Puff the Magic Dragon, Danny Kay's Ugly Duckling, and an amazing, irresistable, Skip To My Lou. The garden song is lovely. The second half however, can be a bit lame. Somewhere Over the Rainbow is boooring, and Wynken Blynken and Nod is sung in a falsetto I actually find annoying. Jelly Man Jelly and Baby Beluga are OK, nothing special. So, yes I would buy it again. But be prepared to skip the lame bits and wonder why they couldn't have chosen better for these.
- We borrowed this from the library so many times that I finally bought a copy for my daughter to own. Even us parents love it. It has many classic songs that I remember from my childhood and it's great to relive the memories again with my child.
- I used to listen to this CD with a little girl I was taking care. We love it!
Today I bought for my son and this is his favorite.
I think this is the best CD for kids ever.

- I think this CD has the best choices from all of the Disney movies. There's only a couple songs that we skip occasionally.
- Searched many stores to buy this CD because I know it is well liked by my nieces and nephews.
- Perfect gift for a tiny-bopper. I normally dread the idea of finding room for all the gifts after the holidays but the gift of music was the way to go this year. My little girl is almost 8 and Disney is not risky with its music.
- I purchased this to keep my kids occupied on vacation, and it performed beautifully! I can recommend it fully.
- Excellent product for kids. A nice combination of Disney's themes with famous singers and players. This kind of music helps to musicalize your own videos and DVD's !.

5 comments about Traditional Lullabies.
- I am quite surprised that such a wonderful CD got less than perfect reviews. This is the best lullaby music we have ever heard (and we own other lullabies CDs). We got it before our twins we born and we listened to it for the whole first year. It is so soothing, not only does it help our babies to fall asleep but also creates a magical atmosphere in our home and helps us relax. Everyone who came to see our babies commented how beautiful this music is. It plays for an hour which is the usual time for CD. So what that it does not play all 36 tracks in their entirety? Unfortunately, our CD got damaged (one of my sons figured out how to open the CD player), so I have to order another copy of it.
- Good friends sent us a tape of this CD before our first child was born. The tape is starting to wear out and I was thrilled to be able to find the CD. We have listened to this at bedtime almost every night for over three years. We have another on the way and plan to buy a new CD, one for my sister's new baby, and to use this as a staple "baby-gift." Don't be scared by complaints about misleading numbers of tracks, this compilation is soothing and perfect for nursing or bedtime. Compared to many, many other lullaby CDs we own, this is the only that has stood the test of time for parent and child as it is neither cheesy nor irritating.
- I bought this for my 1st grand child and played it at his mommy's baby shower. it was really nice and calming but nice for everyone to listen to and not obnoxious tones.
- I am so glad that I bought this product I don't know what I would do without it. I play this in our daughter's nursery on Repeat while she is sleeping and she absolutely loves the soothing music. We have done the white noise cd's and for some reason it doesn't work. But as soon as she hears the lullabies cd begin then she calms down and it is just great background music for baby to wake-up to. This cd is heaven for me and baby to listen to and is definately soothing when you are rocking baby. Love this cd, I highly recommend product.
- We bought this CD when I was pregnant with my now 4 year old daughter. She has listened to it every night for 4 years! If we travel and don't bring it with us, she doesn't sleep! Now after 4 years we are going to replace it because it will no longer play continuously on her CD player and we get woken up numerous times a night to turn it back on! If she wakes up and it's not playing she needs us to come in and turn it back on! It's a beautiful CD. My parents even love it! This will be the first time I've ever bought a second copy of the same CD due to overplaying it! Highly recommended!

3 comments about Putumayo Kids Presents: Asian Dreamland.
- ASIAN DREAMLAND is the first Putumayo Kids collection I actually like. I didn't particularly care for the FRENCH PLAYGROUND collection which is why I have been hesitant to check out the other cds in the Putumayo Kids series. As a fan of Asian music, I decided to check out ASIAN DREAMLAND on a whim. I should not that only 3 out of 10 artists on this cd is NOT Japanese which led me to wonder why the people at Putumayo didn't include more non-Japanese artists from Asia. Go figure. The music on a whole is quite lovely. I like to end my night listening to the album. I find the music very soothing for my stressed out soul. I remember hearing the song "Moon Boat" on a Puffy (Amiyumi) cd years ago. It was interesting to hear this version slowed down a bit. I really like Emme's "Dokokade Yoruga Naita" as well. I find Emme's delicate vocals quite pretty. "Kokoro Ni Dakarete" by the Yoshida Brothers is a pretty instrumental. As I mentioned before, I wished the folks diversified the album a bit more but overall ASIAN DREAMLAND is quite a lovely album to listen to for anyone young or old.
- It's a lovely, soothing night-time or calm-time cd, and we're a big fan of Putumayo in this house. My complaint about "Asian Dreamland" is that it should almost be called "Japanese Dreamland." The tally:
Japan: 6
Tartarstan: 1
Tibet: 1
India: 1
China: 1
The Japanese music is very pretty, and has some great world influences, but overall the cd gives a very imbalanced view of Asian languages and music. I would have liked to see more Chinese and Korean music, especially, given the large population of Korean- and Chinese-Americans in the US. It would be great if this cd gave my kids a window into Korean and Chinese culture...as it is, it's just a window into Japanese culture with a couple of other songs thrown in.
I'd like to see a volume II with a better, more well-rounded, selection of Asian lullabies and music.
- My baby falls asleep so easily when I play this CD. I almost know all the songs by heart.
