1. This is an excellent CD. The choices are well performed, as would be expected from the London Symphony Orchestra. However, if you are not familiar with classical music and/or the specific selections on this CD you should be aware most of these selections are somewhat "upbeat" and best for getting your mood up or background music for playtime with your child. If you are looking for a cheap lullaby CD this is not it. But if you are looking for a good introduction to classical music that is well performed with classic selections - then this CD may be for you.

1. Nice music, my son and I listen to this cd almost every day.. If you like
   Beatles you will enjoy this version for kids as well.



2. My 7 year old daughter loves this CD! So do all her friends. She listens all the time and it is our favorite sing along for the car. Of course, as an adult I like the real Beatles the best...but I was pleasantly surprised at how good these kids versions are. I don't understand all the "how dare they do this with the Beatles" stuff that some people blabber about. For me it works...my daughter loves it and now seems more interested in my other Beatles CDs, AND I much prefer hearing this over and over again versus some of the other kids music we have.



3. The songs are supposedly sung by kids, but some of them are sung so similarly to the originals that it's hard to tell. Not that it's BAD that the songs are similar, it's just that, well, it's just not an improvement to the real Beatles, so why not just get a CD of the Beatles. I also bought Beatles 1 at the same time, and my 2 yr old loves listening to it. Get that instead.



4. This is the best kids music CD we own. All three of my kids (ages 1 through 7) love listening to it. The best part of it is that I enjoy it too. Of course I have all the original Beatles records, but this CD does such a great job of introducing the kids to this music that it's fun for me and my husband too. Like another reviewer said, my kids weren't interested in the real Beatles recordings before. But after listening to this for a while, they are starting to enjoy both - The Bingo version and the originals. What a great idea. What a great album. I wish they would do the same with other groups. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.



5. This cd is a good introduction to the Beatles. While the original recordings of these songs are my preference, that wasn't the case with my two year old. She didn't take to the originals. So these versions provided the necessary gateway to the originals. The songs are recreated very faithfully, but with children singing most of the chorus'. This was what was needed to create the interest for my child. After a few weeks of listening a seamless transition to the "#1's" was accomplished.

1. Although this product was tracked to Fernly, Nevada it never reached my address in Las Vegas. It is presently being disputed on my credit card. This seems to be the only way to contact Amazon concerning such matters. I give Amazon a "POOR" rating for customer support.



2. My daughter and I listen to this CD nearly every time we get in the car. She loves that the songs are ones she can sing along with.



3. We love this CD. The voices that sing the songs are pleasant and the songs are ones my kids love. They listen to this CD every night as they go to bed.



4. On long trips this was the ticket. I'd remember this more than all the sights, sounds, and people. Finding it on CD has brought back childhood memories. These are the songs, of classic origin, and timeless for all generations!



5. For some reason this morning 'Ten Little Indians' was in my head. I called my mom to ask her if she remembered what the record was she used to play for me when I was little that had 'Ten Little Indians' on it. She said it was a Disney record and she immediately started singing 'It Ain't Gonna Rain No More No More, It Ain't Gonna Rain No More...'. I got online to track down the record and thankfully Amazon has it! I played some of the samples for my mom over the phone and it was a kick! I ordered the CD right away. It brings back great memories and I can't wait for my daughter to learn the songs so we can sing them together!

1. Received the merchandise quickly! A friend suggested this cd as one of her favorites that she received when her baby was born. It was a big hit with my friend as well!



2. The moaning, whiney songs on this CD are enough to give even the most cheerful baby the blues. If you enjoy torchy folk songs, this is your CD. If you were looking for modern, but gentle music to ease your baby to sleep at the end of the day - look elsewhere. I love the Kenny Loggins Return to Pooh Corner and More Songs from Pooh Corner, Linda Rondstadt: Dedicated to the One I love and the Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime(don't laugh). And my absolute favorite is one that is, unfortunately, out of print now, Lullabies for Little Dreamers: Soft Rock Classics from your favorite artists. Do yourself a favor - look for a used copy of that and skip this depressing, adult themed attempt at the blues.



3. I love this CD. It is perfect for bed time no matter what the age. Had the hardest time finding it other places. I have young family members who listened to this when they were babies and now I found it for my own children!



4. I remember receiving this CD from my sister when my first child was born. I would sit in the rocker with her and sing each song to her as she looked up in amazement. My favorite is "If I Didn't Have You to Wake Up To." My children, now 7 and 10, still occasionally ask me to sing a lullaby to them for fun. This song is always my first choice. Other than one song which feels a little bit intense, maybe even scary (my daughter would cry whenever it played, with tears running down her face), all the songs are pleasant, and fun to sing if you like singing. I have given it as gifts to several of my family and friends when they have their first child. It is a timeless piece. Great music, especially if you like female vocals! The variety of artists keeps it fresh...forever.



5. We purchased this in summer of 2004 when our daughter was 1 1/2.
   We, the parents, fell in love with it right away. Such a refreshing change, and all new songs to us. Now our little girl is over two, and has to hear it before bed each night. Track two, Child of Mine, is our special song, and instantly brings calm and cuddles to an otherwise stressful time of day. I can't imagine a time in the future when I won't love this CD. I will likely take it to my retirement home -- everybody needs a little lullaby once in a while -- not just the kids.

3 comments about Putumayo Presents: One World, One Kid.

1. I love these Putamayo collections, but this one has a child "DJ" talking over the beginning of every song. While interesting, I use this with my music class, so the talking is disruptive. The music is great though!



2. I heard Skylar interviewed on NPR: they played part of a song, and I liked it -- but it was Skylar's energy and enthusiasm for the music that made me run to my laptop and buy the CD. I listen to it over and over: some of the songs make you just JUMP up and start dancing or doing exercises...and it's hard to listen to Skylar talk without smiling. His enthusiasm is infectious.
   
   I don't know what a sick child would make of this, but I DO know that for this adult, it works. If I'm feeling sad, or blah, Skylar's voice - and the songs he's chosen - restores me to cheerfulness. Thank you, Skylar (and the parents who encouraged you and the record company that had the good sense to publish this!. We need more books and records that are truly joyous.

1. I received this as a gift when my daughter was born. We have had many enjoyable hours spent listening and singing to this CD. My only complaint is the scary rendition of This Old Man. Sounds more like a version for cigarette smokin' whiskey drinkin' prison inmates than children. Although it has been a source of amusement. So I guess there are no complaints. Cheers. Enjoy.



2. I can't say enough about this cd. Both of my two year old grandson's LOVE this music and request it as soon as they enter my car! They would get upset when mom and dad couldn't turn it on in their cars so I've purchased two additional cd's for their use. Adults as well as children will enjoy the songs



3. This isn't your typical "Wheels on the Bus" kids' album. I bought this at the Land of Nod in Chicago on a whim, after having test-tried it in the store. I ended up buying two of them - one for my six-year old son, and one for my dad to listen to when he has the grandkids over. The music is a lot of fun - very well done - and a lot of tunes (Yellow Bus) are pretty funny when you listen to the lyrics. Original, fun, music for everyone. My son loves it and I do too.

1. I bought my first set used from a local ad. My daughter loves it, and I actually do to. During a kitchen remodel, we seem to have lost 2 discs, which is why I'm looking on amazon for them. There is some repetition of tunes, but that seems to have taught my daughter to make up her own words to her favorite tunes. The songs are upbeat, not overly saccharine, and pleasant even after the 50th time.



2. My toddler loves these CDs possibly because all the songs are sung by kids. It really entertains and sooths her. Great for car trips and play time. A few of the songs are nursery rhymes put to music but most are classics and there are so many that you never get bored listening to them over and over again. Definately a good investment.



3. These songs are upbeat and cheerful. Great for little kids ears. I haven't been able to find a better compilation. My kids love it.



4. This collection is quite a pretty good one that even you will enjoy hearing, it seems to definitely have a positive effect on moods. I've noticed that even other adults that happen to be around while it's being played, hum, sing and sway to these tunes. The only two drawbacks according to me are, the music that accompanies some of the songs doesn't sound good at all with those songs and the fact that after the children finish singing several of the songs they make some comment, which actually ruins the end of some of the songs.



5. Although it is a very comprehensive collection, I cannot speak very highly of the overall quality of this product. The tunes are very monotonous, it is the same bit for all the songs. I wish there were some variations to the tempo of the songs presented in this collection.

1. There are so many junk CDs available in the market, but I found this CD worthwhile purchasing. Three reasons: 1. Traditional songs included which your children don't want to miss, 2. This CD includes printed lyrics of AND suggested activities and books. 3. Children's voices in the CD seem to encourage children to sing out. Only singing songs can be boring, but as a parent I find it more meaningful to sing songs, stretch them to other activities, and extend it to the literature. I wish other record companies create the children's CD like this one.



2. This CD is such a wonderful musical that I enjoy singing with my son in the car. He enjoys all of the tunes and they are very refreshing after a long day of work and school. The lyrics are easy to understand and pick up. Your child will enjoy singing this music and it will keep them occupied in the car!
