5 comments about Runnin' Naked Thru the Cornfield.
- ...possibly the 1st Ska Parade disc. It's a lot better. The best song on this Ska Parade is The Equators Song with Angelo Moore. "Ready Steady Go" is a cover of a generation X song from the 70's. Buy one of their CDs instead. This CD works as background music when you aren't really listening to it.
- Runnin' Naked Thru The Cornfield not only provides well-known bands such as Reel Big Fish and Save Ferris, but it also offers music by popular non-mainstream artists. The CD allows listeners to enjoy the common Third Wave sound while educating them on a different branch of ska as well. If you're one of those people who only listens to Reel Big Fish, then this album isn't for you. However, if you're willing to experience the mainstream ska scene and still open your mind to the underground sound, then there's not a doubt in my mind that you'll enjoy this CD.
- This is one of the best CDs in the WORLD! I listen to it over and over yet I am never tired due to the vast variety of ska which you get to let your ears delve into on this CD.
- This is one of the best albums I have come across... it has a truly excellent cross-section of ska. If a person thinks ska is just Reel Big Fish, then this is not an album for them, but if a person likes Suburban Rhythm, Marshall Law, or any other of these un-sold-out bands, then this is the album to own.
- i gambled on this cd after reading some of the reviews. it is great! marshall law is one of the best bands ever, not to mention rbf, save ferris, siren six, and just about all the other bands on this cd. if you are looking for a great ska compiliation, GET THIS CD. peace out word to OLR and LTS

2 comments about Hopelessly Devoted to You, Vol. 5.
- is this cd 4 bucks? yes. does it have 'unreased' tracks from a7x? yes. does it have a a7x music video? yes. is is a good cd? no. hopeless has thrown out old bands from previous hd2y, and what did they gain? yellowcard clones, like amber pacific, melee, and stairwell. this definetly isnt a good thing. yeah its 4 bucks, but really the only thing worth it on this cd is the atom and his package song which is why a gave it 2 stars. but hey, some ppl disagree with me, and if you think its worth it to buy this for some wannabe pop bands, go right ahead.
- A Beautiful Record filled with various types of artist who arent similar to each other so it would give you a chance to listen to what type of music they have to play but i am quiet disa-pointed that it was shorter that Volume Four and included less Against All Authority and Melee should get their spot of them being in this record , like new artistes in this record they are wicked as possible but Melee sounds more acrousic than punk . Isnt this supposed to be a Punk Compliation Called " Hopelessly Devoted To You " but where does their type of music come from this decision was up to Hopeless and Sub City records , what a terrible mistake .
Thrice and Avenged Sevenfold will always be awesome because of their beautiful raw emo less sound ( Funny ) but now a days with mainstream punk , those artist's are sellout by their stupid f***ked up sound for example Good Charlotte their music sounds more pop than Raw Punk they do not even sound like Emo . I am thankful for labels like these that put out amazing compliations that feature beautiful sounds made by playing instruments and vocals

5 comments about Never Mind the Mainstream: The Best of MTV's 120 Minutes, Vol. 2.
- MTV's "120 Minutes" was one of the best and longest running shows on the now disgraced channel. This record is a good sample of what you heard on that program back in the late 80s and early 90s. If you ever wondered about the origins of alternative rock, this is a must. It covers all the basic genres. From new wave (Joy Division) to industrial (Ministry). I remember when I had this originally on tape. Side one ended with "The Killing Moon". What a great intermission!
- I first owned this album years ago and have looked for it used for a long time (since it was stolen in college). This CD introduced me to thr Ramones, Husker Du, and the Sugar Cubes. It also reinforced the fact that liking Ministry and Morrissey can coexist. The only song on here I skipped over on repeated listenings was the Faith No More Song, but that is just personal preferrence. Great CD!
- We have had volume 1 and volume 2 for a long times, and if you're into alternative 80's music and see these, I highly recommend picking them up. It's worth the money!
- This album is a good follow-up to the first volume. The variety is excellent, although some individual selections lack imagination. For example, the PIL song isn't their best. And I could have chosen a better Ramones tune, like "Rock and Roll High School" (there are others). The Ministry song "Stigmata" is a classic dance club beat, and the inclusion of Joy Division is inspired. This CD is uneven, compared to the first volume, but for 80's music lovers, it's not a bad addition to your collection.
- REM IS NOT THE BAND THAT I LISTEN TO. I CAN'T STAND REM AND NEVER HAVE LISTNE TO ANY OR THERE MUSIC. THEY ARE TERRIBLE AND I WILL NEVER CHANGE MY MIND AND LISTEN TO A CD OF THERE'S.

4 comments about This Note's For You Too! A Tribute to Neil Young.
- I should start by saying that I'm coming to this as someone who thinks that Neil Young is the greatest songwriter ever. For this reason, I approached this album with some trepidation. It wasn't helped by the mediocre 'The Bridge' collection - with the godawful Flaming Lips version of After the Gold Rush.
This album is a gem. There are no bravura performances by well-known stars trying to interpret Neil Young in their own way - and destroying the songs in the process. Instead, each song is performed respectfully, sensitively and well. What is more, both cds are equally good.
The second cd is not, as some reviewers have suggested, taken mainly from the 80s and 90s. The first 11 tracks are all 70s classics, beautifully performed, from albums such as Harvest, On the Beach, Zuma, Stars and Bars and Rust Never Sleeps. And the others are gems too. Don't Cry, from 89's superb album, Freedom, is amazing.
Try this album out. It's great! I recommend it to all those who love Neil Young's back catalogue and want to listen to sensitive interpretations of some of his loveliest tracks. I also recommend it to people who don't know him that well, because the songwriting is so strong, it carries each song. It is not, however, for those who liked Harvest and never thought he matched that one lp - but then they wouldn't like the originals either.
- Pop Kulcher Review: The tribute albums which have been cropping up like smallpox since the mid-'80's have been a mixed blessing. Sure, it's nice to hear other bands interpret music from your favorite artists, but many of these consist largely of lame unsigned bands, and the covers are usually either unimaginatively loyal to the original, or so over-the-top in their efforts to reinterpret the original as to be unrecognizable. One of the better discs in the genre (and one of the first) was 1989's The Bridge, a tribute to Neil Young. Now, a decade later, comes a second Neil Young tribute. It's a mixed bag, but, given it's relatively low price for a 2-cd set, undeniably worth it for Neil fans.
Unlike The Bridge, which had some heavy-hitters of the alternative rock scene (Sonic Youth, Pixies, Soul Asylum, Nick Cave, Dinosaur Jr.), This Note has very few recognizable names. There are a few members of the mid-80's Paisley Underground (Steve Wynn of Dream Syndicate, Steven Roback of Rain Parade); other stand-outs include Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Bevis Frond, Richard Lloyd of Television, and alt.country act (and Long Ryders spin-off) the Coal Porters. Because this collection was put together by Neil's Dutch fanclub, there are also a lot of unknown Dutch bands (who, surprisingly, do a pretty good job with the material). Of the two discs, the first is far better -- the songs are arranged chronologically, so the second disc is weighed down by Young's substantially weaker 80's & 90's material. Most of the stand-outs lean primarily towards a folky, alt.country/rootsy feel. Nothing terribly innovative or interesting, but the songs themselves are wonderful, so even the modest, unpretentious cover versions sound quite nice. The second disc offers some looser takes on the Young catalog, but most of the experimentation fares poorly -- certainly nothing which holds up to the reinterpretations of Young's work on The Bridge. All in all, some great music which could easily be culled down to a single, throroughly enjoyable disc or tape.
- I must admit I bought this CD with some trepidation having been a Neilophile for over 30 years but the majority of these artists do more than justice to the man's songs and some even up the ante a fair degree. I've only heard of a handful of these guys (notably Steve Wynn, Chris Cacavas, Van Christian, & Rich Hopkins & Lumanarios) but the musicianship is consistently excellent. This is a great compilation for folks just getting introduced to Neil's music and a real hoot for old fans. Don't know whether he's had a chance to give it a listen but I think The Old Man would be pleased. Far superior to the Bridge tribute released about six years ago. Give it a listen!
- Buy this CD if you a)Love Neil Young. b)Love the earliest of alternative/grunge music. c)Refuse to follow the herds of sheepish FM listeners into the path of "overhyped hit oblivion". Friends, even the pitifully overplayed "Heart of Gold" JAMS on this CD. This is a fine collection which loses the 5TH star only because of some CLASSIC OBSCURE Neil was left off. If people listen to this classic more than once, they will search the archives for more Neil Young that will never be found on any FM station. All of the artists, except one or two, do great interpetations of Youngs work. Try it you'll like it! Remember that some of these gems were written over 33 years ago-mindblowing music for the adventurous. Finally, proceeds go to Youngs' Bridge School, a notable cause, indeed!

4 comments about Punkzilla.
- Alot of labels release samplers. But how many of them are worth listening to?This one certainly is.How could one go wrong with Afi,The Damned,The Vandals,TSOL, and son of sam on one disc.It has a couple of lame tracks (bodyjar and rufio namely)but all in all one of the best samplers ive heard. It gives a good insight into what the label has to offer which mind you is a hell of a lot.Besides its worthing buying just for the rare tracks from TSOL and AFI.If you want a "modern"(The Damned and TSOL the exceptions)Punk rock sampler defianetly grab something from the NItro Label.Epitaph may have more bands but in this case its Quality over Quantity.
- Punkzilla is, in a word, amazing. The record grabs you with the oppening notes of A.F.I.'s unreleased masterpeice "Dream of Walking," one of their most powerful tunes. Next is one of my personal favorites, The Damned's "Domocracy?" a classic that could easily compete with "New Rose" as their greatest song ever. Eighteen more tracks of pure brilliance follow, ranging from the quirky humor punk of Guttermouth's "Hit machine," to hardcore punk to T.S.O.L.'s brilliant "Wasted." for punk fans, this comp is a must.
- Yes, the name is stupid and the cover is corny, but this is one of the best compilations I have ever heard. Punkzilla has something for everyone. From AFI and Son of Sam and their goth/ hardcore punk to Guttermouth and the Vandals and their humor/ skate punk, this CD even includes two Offspring songs from the band's ST album of 1989, recently re-released by Nitro Records. The compilation introduces several new bands on Dexter Holland's label and features the videos to AFI's "The Days of the Phoenix" and Bodyjar's "Not the Same". Punkzilla is much better than Nitro's previous "Thought Remains the Same" and "Go Ahead Punk... Make My Day". This CD is better than most of the Punk-O-Rama's, but not #5, which is probably the best compilation of all time, along with Punkzilla. Get Punkzilla and Punk-O-Rama 5, 48 songs in all, for only [a few] bucks.
- PUNKZILLA, yes I will agree that has to be one of the corniest titles I've herd but anyone with appreciation for punk will appreciate the Godzilla reference. This monster of a compilation is the best 5 bucks I have spent this month. I couldn't of burned a better CD myself. Why am I so excited about this compilation with a cheesy cover? Because as all of you already know its not the cover that matters. Nitro put everyone on it's recent compilation, of course that's the point of a compilation...but still. AFI "Dream of Waking" and "Days of Phoenix" open and close the track list with "Wester" right in the middle. The Offspring and The Damned get a fair shot of 2 tracks a piece. Unfortunately The Vandals only had two tracks also but that's no prob because everyone should own every Vandal CD/Album/ Tape ever. Other artist included TSOL, Rufio, Bodyjar, Son of Sam, Stavesacre, Ensign and Guttermouth... The best tracks are "Behind the Music" and "Wester" but overall this Compilation Rocks in every way imaginable. Pick it up for the price of meal at McDonalds and be happy forever!!!!

3 comments about Flyin' Traps: Stereo Drums.
- Flyin' Traps features diverse performances from folks such as Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction), TIM ALEXANDER (PRIMUS, LAUNDRY) and Dale Crover (Melvins), as well as former Soundgarden skinsman Matt Cameron teaming up with Taz Bentley (Tenderloin, the Rev. Horton Heat) on "Theme From Wrong Holy-O." In addition, Mudhoney's drink 'n' drum expert Dan Peters delivers a way-cool version of the Kinks' "Do You Remember Walter?" You Won't be sorry you picked this one up!!
- I found this disk in the middle of a 79 cent bargain bin. Worth every penny and then some. What drew me in was an appearence of Matt Cameron, one of rocks most charismatic drummers. The rest of the album proved to be an interesting listen. Several other talented musicians show up as well including Michael Musburger, Stephen Perkins and the incomperable Josh Freese(of Perfect Circle and Abandoned Pools). This is a CD of drummers strutting their musical stuff; composing vocaless songs and playing all instruments. Some tunes are strictly percussion while others include a variety-from heavily distorted guitars to horns. It is a great experimental outing and makes for cool driving music. A must for any modern rock collection.
- This CD contains some unique instrumental drum expos by some of today's hottest rock drummers. The sets are very musical and avoid the typical big rock "drum solo" appoach typical of 70's stadium rock. Definitely a must have for the wannabe percussionist or modern rock enthusiast. Also makes a neat addition for the ecclectic minded collectors.

3 comments about Moonshot.
- This is the last moon ska compilation i picked up. Some decent tracks on here.
- Dude, i was thinking of buying this cd but i borrowed it from a friend. I must say that im glad i didnt get it because it is not the ska like Voodoo Glow Skulls and Reel Big Fish. I rated it a 2 cuz the one song by the Toasters was okay and was pretty kool. I didnt like the rest.
- I have hardly ever spent only $6 on a comp. this good. This CD will make fans of sell-out bands like Reel Big Fish or No Doubt confused. This is pure ska music. Moon Ska has always put out some of the best ska music ever recorded, and this comp. is proof. I hadn't heard of several bands on this CD when I got it, but now I am a fan. The only Moon Ska bands this one is missing are Mephiskapheles, Let's Go Bowling, and The Pietasters. The Bad Manners song is not that great though. (Bad Manners, the same guys who did "Lip Up Fatty" doing a BALLAD?!?)
Favorite Bands: The Toasters, The Scofflaws, The Busters, The Adjusters, The Skoidats, Edna's Goldfish, Skinnerbox, Easy Big Fella, The Allstonians, NY Ska Jazz Ensemble
