- To add a little bit to the prior review
Disc 1 is aka "That's Not Funny, That's Sick"
Disc 2 is aka "White Album"
Disc 3 is aka "Sex, Drugs, Rock And Roll, & the End of the World."
Disc 4 is aka "The Greatest Hits of the National Lampoon." Which means that, in this instance, Amazon's "Buy these 2 together and SAVE" option is a waste of money, since you'll wind up buying the exact same CD twice.
Disc 2 involved some people who were involved with the radio hour, but mostly second-stringer types, with the noticable exception of "Hollywood Gay Alliance" with Belushi, Chase & Guest. Disc 3 was early-mid-80s stuff, which retains a lot of the Slash-And-Burn sensibility of the mag from its heyday as well as the Radio Hour, but precious little of its wit.
Currently, the box set is about $32. Each of those CDs sold seperately are currently $17. It's like buying CDs 1 & 4 & you're essentially getting the other 2 discs free. So the four star review is for the worthwhile discs, consider the other 2 a bonus.
Now, I patiently wait for CDs of Goodbye Pop, Radio Dinner, the Missing White House Tapes & the Introduction to Stereo Test Disc Whose Name I can Never Remember Correctly.
- The National Lampoon name has been purchased by a group that has no sense of humor whatever but intends to market old properties and mix in new junk, betting you can't tell the difference until after you buy it. In this four CD set, CD #1, 'That's Not Funny, That's Sick" and CD #4, "Greatest Hits of the National Lampoon" are both excellent CDs put out by the original NL writers and actors (many of whom went on to Saturday Night Live: Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Bill Murray, and so on). BUY THEM SEPARATELY FOR A LOWER PRICE! The middle two are recent potboilers put out by the current owners to fool you into paying more. There is basically NOTHING funny (except perhaps 'Gay Alliance' which came from the National Lampoon Radio Hour,

- The man, the Legend, in his own words. And a true story, well, sort of :)
- This audiobook had me laughing out loud from start to finish. The vocal performances are top-notch, and I enjoyed the use of sound effects as well -- it reminded me of the old radio plays. Bruce Campbell fans should not miss this audio performance!
- AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! A wonderful look at a hypothetical "big budget" movie as only Bruce Campbell can tell it! From the first page to the last page it is an excellent read. A definate "must" for all Bruce Campbell fans and also a "must" for anyone who just wants to sit down and read a good book. It WILL keep you entertained! I also purchased the book on tape as well and it was just as good! As Bruce said, "You've read the book, now HEAR the movie!" Yes, indeed!!
- Fan-Tastic. Bruce Campbell gives a grade A performance for your amusement. Perfect for any Bruce Campbell fan. 5 stars*****
I suggest this to the utmost!
- This was the first audio book I ever listened to and it probably ruined all other audio books for me because it is so entertaining that now when I hear an audio book I want it to be like this not read by some uptight old man. Bruce Campbell is hilarious and this is a must have for any of his fans. Even if you aren't a fan I think you will enjoy this.

5 comments about Permanent Record.
- hey, want to know EVERYTHING about this
Permanent Record: Al In The Box is a four disc compilation boxed set of songs by "Weird Al" Yankovic. It features his favorites songs from his first eight studio albums, plus alternate versions of "My Bologna", "Happy Birthday", "UHF", and the previously unavailable new single, "Headline News". The Andy Warhol-esque cover art and "Headline News" also appear on Yankovic's Greatest Hits Volume II, which was released a month after Permanent Record.
The boxed set also comes with a booklet written by Dr. Demento
Permanent Record went out of print on March 1, 2006, because the artwork was lost.
- Weird Al Yankovic is a great band and this is a great collection of their songs. I mis some great songs on it. The songs 'Armish Paradise', 'weenie in a bottle', 'Bohemian Rap City' and 'I was only kidding' for example. From 2 cd's of Weird Al are no songs at all at this collection! Despite this, it is a great album and y'all should listen to it!!!
- My husband is a huge Weird Al fan and has been wanting to convert his tapes over to CD. This collection includes most of his favorite songs and was a super gift for Valentine's Day!
- Very please with product and service. I would not hesitate to do business with this person again.
- About seven years ago I might have given this package 5 stars. This box set was great in its heyday, but I'm afraid it is severely outdated now. I think it's time for a new one. Weird Al Yankovic is definitely famous enough to warrant a second box set. Hell, Led Zeppelin has two box sets. Why shouldn't Al?
This only covers Al's career from early 1980, to about 1993 or thereabouts. Nothing from "Bad Hair Day, Running With Scissors," or "Poodle Hat" is included, not to mention his latter-day film theme songs like "Spy Hard," or "Polkamon." If you are one of those people who lives in the past, though, or one of those misguided fools who thinks Al should have retired some time back in 1989, then this is the perfect purchase for you. It has a couple of rarities that can't be heard anywhere else, like Al's original accordion version of "My Bologna," and "Headline News" the parody of "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" by the Crash Test Dummies, which was written specially for this box set. The brief bio booklet that comes with the set is pretty cool too. It was written by Dr. Demento, and it chronicles Al's youth, college days as an architecture major, and his rise to fame. Overall, this is a great buy for the casual fan, but if you are like me and you are obsessed, I suggest you do like I did and just buy all of the CDs.

- The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes VI is the latest volume in the simply outstanding Naxos AudioBooks CD series of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved detective stories featuring that intrepid master of deduction, Sherlock Holmes. "The Adventure Of The Gloria Scott"; "The Adventure Of The Resident Patient"; "The Adventure Of The Noble Bachelor"; and "The Adventure Of The Final Problem", are all presented in a complete and unabridged format, and are adroitly and dramatically narrated by David Timson, a skilled and experienced television actor. Classical music enhances these wonderful tales of mystery and deduction that have flourished throughout the test of time.

5 comments about Reprise Musical Repertory Theatre (Finian's Rainbow, Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls).
- Wow! I was blown away by this album. I love both broadway showtunes and music from the 40's so this combination was unbelievable. I don't know who came up with the concept, but it's incredible. I've heard all of these musicals in their original version and have enjoyed them for a time. This album did a fresh take on all of those songs, reviving them once again for me. I accidently found this while doing a search for Jo Stafford CDs. Boy, am I glad I did!
- nice recordings but veer away from the broadway sound and into popular music of the 40's and 50's. Some tracks are awful. Bing Crosby singing (warbling) Younger Than Springtime? Please!! Anyone who's heard Jason Daniely in the recent Carnegie Hall concert version, will never be able to accept any other versions.
- do not nuy this here wn you can buy it for one third of the price at itunes
- Sinatra, wise beyond his years, hired the Hi-Los when he formed Reprise. This vocal group is perfect in range, technique, quality of musicianship, arrangements, wit, and has won every Jazz Poll hands down while they recorded and performed! Their use on these recordings is a delight.
I would also add that Johnny Prophet -- a name as true to life as Johnny Rocket -- is a revelation...Especially in the KISS ME, KATE section. The arrangement of WERE THINE THAT SPECIAL FACE is magnificent, penned by an arranger's arranger. (Note that well, Billy and Nelson!). Also, his SO IN LOVE is a gem. Needless to say, Sinatra, Martin, Sammy and Crosby are amazing, as always. This is an essential album for fans of Sinatra, and the great American songbook!
