  1. Day of Fire also records with Fireflight...be sure to check them out, too! If your teens want excellent punk/rock/metal but don't think it's possible in a Christian band, get them this CD...it will definitely change their minds!

  2. This cd ROCKS!!! I am a diehard Christian Rock fan (Stryper, Third Day, Kutless, etc.) and this is one of the best CDs I have heard in a while. It is a down to earth straightforward hard rock Christian cd. The music is awesome fist pumping, headbanging Rock and Roll!!!!!! I caught these guys on the tv show Soundcheck on the Daystar network. The live performance got my attention and left me wanting more. I ordered this cd immediately. If you like good hard rock 'n' roll with no frills, this cd is an absolute must!!! These guys are going to be at the state fair in NC in October opening up for Daughtry. I will be going to the show mainly to see Day of Fire.

  3. This cd is a good cd and I would recommend buying it. I have been a Day of Fire fan since they first came out and I cannot decide weather I like this cd or the old one better. The first one was definatly more catchy but this album is better and more complex musicly. It is good but slightly differant than the older album. It is heavier than their old one but not by too much. Their live show really brought this album to life for me so I would recommend seeing them live every oppertunity you get.

  4. First, I loved the first album, but it seemed a little jumpy to me for some reason...great album but it seemed like the syle kept changing. Cut and Move however is simply a straight rock album through and through. I can remember the first time I heard 'Love', the riff was a hook and it immediately got my blood pumping...from there on this CD had my attention.

There are a few erks though, some songs like 'when the light' seem drawn out. And the songs get a little to repititous at times, sticking to the same Verse chorus Verse bridge chorus out formula. As a musician I know how easy it is to fall into this trap but the songs are so fast and intense it really doens't bog it down that much. Another thing that kind of dissapoints me is that lyrically it isn't as Christian as the first. Sure songs like "Hole in my Hand" and "Reborn" are dead giveaways, but I'm just one of those kinds of people who are starving for more 'bold in the word' bands like Disciple.

Some people don't like 'too much spiritualness' in bands but that is what really makes a good Christian band to me. Overall, the CD is a fast, adrenaline pumping rock album and would recommend it to anyone.

  5. I have a 200-song playlist on my MP3 player that randomly plays tunes from various bands including Day of Fire, Decyfer Down, RED, and DecembeRadio. As the player churned through the list, some song would come on, and I'd say "wow, that's a great song. who does it?" I'd glance at the artist name, and every time, it was Day of Fire. A great band, and great in concert too.

  1. My daddy recently passed and he loved listening to Andre Crouch. I purchased this CD in memory of my daddy. I listen to it all the time. It brings back happy memories.

  2. I bought this album at a grocery store on vinyl in 1983, it was the first time that I ever heard "My Tribute".
This album helped to shape my faith and my appreciation for gospel music.
Andre' Crouch was and is a talent and a blessing.
This collection gives a great cross section of several styles and feelings. Highly recommended.

  3. This is one of those collections that every student of American music should own regardless of your religious beliefs. Andrae Crouch is indisputably one of the true pioneers of modern day Christian(as well as Gospel) music. His songs are staples in countless many hymn books and churches worldwide. His body of work during the 70's is as critical as any artist(s) of any genre or era. Its great to get this to be uplifted; but this is also a lesson in music history. I think Bob Marley sung it best: you'll never grow without the roots.

  4. this cd is great! when i was sick with anxiety, the soulful and inspirational sounds of andre and his choir helped me get better. i listened to it everyday and i still do. this is real music-gospel music, not kirk franklin type music and this new gospel entertainment music. it really uplifts you which gospel music is supposed to do. the songs "take me back" to my wonderful childhood when i was in choirs and my family was in choirs at our church. everyone who listens to my cd ends up purchasing it because that's how good it is. they say, where you get that cd from? it has real lyrics for personal real life stuff that will give you hope when all else fails. it reminds you of how good God is and will have you seeking Jesus and what he can do for you. get it! you won't regret it!

  5. the words in andres songs will ring in your mind long after you turn off the music. The message is Gods love for you and all people. Great stuff !

  1. This CD is inspirational and fun! The lyrics for the songs are unique and positive. I highly recommend it.

  2. Amazing, I totally recomened the first song on this cd. "More"! I first heard this song on FM103.2 a great radio station for christians in Sydney. A great cd! If your wondering if you should buy it i say YES YES YES!!
    Maddi

  3. I just saw Matthew west in concert when he came to perform at my college university. His songs completely moved and touched me, and nearly brought tears to my eyes. His songs have great beats, rhythms, and melodies and I was in awe from the moment he first took the stage to the moment he left. I enjoyed the concert so much that I didn't want it to end. Going into the concert I thought I wouldn't like him, but I did. So give them a chance, you won't regret it and get his cd today!

  4. Matthew West is the most fun Christian musician to come along in quite awhile. His music just begs you to TURN IT UP and SING ALONG! I highly recommend this CD if you like music with a message. Good for all ages.

  5. This is a great CD. It's very powerful and you will want to sing along. My favorite is definelty More! Its a great tune with a great message that God love us forever. Check it out youll like it too!

5 comments about To Hell with the Devil.

  1. Another great cd by stryper. What else coud I say. The cd is as great as the cassette. A must for anyone collecting christian metal music. Just like I remember when they first came out. They know how to get the message accross. They really rock.

  2. "To Hell With the Devil" and "Soldiers Under Command" are both classic Christian rock album but which one is better? At least from "To Hell With the Devil" Stryper often plays more songs than "Soldiers...". The Devil's 'nightmare song' "To Hell With the Devil", "Calling on You", "Free", "The Way", and their greatest hit, the ballad, "Honestly" are played probably in every gig they have had in 00's. Also "More Than a Man" and "Sing-Along Song" are very often in the set lists. This album reprents everything that Stryper has to offer: heaviness, tenderness, a great message, and great songs with great playing and singing. Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Timothy Gaines, and Oz Fox are truly God's soldiers. However, there's more great songs that just those seven I mentioned at first; "All of Me" is a great beautiful ballad, "Rocking the World" really rocks, and "Holding on" is also a good song, although quite basic stuff for Stryper. "More than a Man" could be called "To Heaven With Jesus" also because if you sing it and mean what you sing, you're soul will be saved. Great album, I recommend this together with the album "Soldiers Under Commandment" because they both are Christian metal classics.
Stars: Honestly, To Hell With the Devil, The Way, More Than a Man

  3. I had heard of Stryper in the 80s, then in the 90s they were about as 80s as totally 80s gets. Then they made a comeback this decade. This is their best aklbum, featuring the huge hit Honestly with a woman on vocals. The rest of the album is more straight forward metal, not really Christian lyrics all the time but condemning Satan. I picked up the Roxx Regime which contains Yellow and Black Attack and Honestly, and the only track better than hOnestly on there is From Wrong to Right. Abyss the opener gets things going, a joke their not. With this album they have gotten rid of most of the 50s influences into a much more EMO Poison meets Slayer tongue in cheek Christian metal band with a "we're the Christian metal kings" humor. Don't miss it!

  4. Come on, admit it.... you remember the old days when MTV actually played music, watching the Stryper videos playing and rocking out to the music.

I got the urge to hear some of their classic hits again, so I picked up the first four CDs via Amazon. I fully expected to listen to them now and think, "Huh, I remember them being so much better than this...."

I was wrong. Their original songs still rock as hard today as any other band out there in their sound genre. They didn't go for half the gimicky sound that some of the bands had, they just stuck to a standard rock & roll formula that worked, and it sounds just as great today as it did back then.

Well worth the meager price paid for the CDs. ;-)

  5. If you want to hear Styper hungry, but polished: driven, but uncompromising lyrically...then this is your album. Listen to the song More than a Man. These guys were big in the secular market in 1986, but this song gives praise and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ himself. It's a wonderful album!

  1. "His Hand in Mine" was the first gospel album recorded by Elvis Presley, which was quite an event at the time. It instantly became a hit. With gospel classics such as "I Believe in the Man in the Sky", "There'll Be Peace in the Valley For Me", the album title song "His Hand in Mine" this inspirational, old classic album is a must have for all fans of Elvis and gospel music.

  2. Released in late 1960, this was Elvis' first, full length Gospel album. It was a hit in the US climbing to 13 on the album chart and eventually being certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. It was an even bigger hit in the UK reaching 3 on the album chart there. While no singles were immediately released from the album, a few years later Joshua Fit The Battle / Known Only To Him and Milky White Way / Swing Down Sweet Chariot would be released. Swing Down Sweet Chariot would reach the top 10 in Italy in 1962 while Joshua Fit The Battle was a number 1 hit in Sweden in 1966. Both singles were minor hits in Australia in 1966 as well. This release is made even better than the original with the inclusion of 4 bonus songs from the Peace in the Valley EP. Peace in the Valley was a top 40 hit in 1957.

While this is an excellent CD, there are better Elvis Gospel collections available now, such as his excellent Ultimate Gospel CD.

  1. Underoath 777 is a recent DVD release by the popular Christian Screamo band Underoath. It features music videos, a on tour documentary, and a live show that was filmed at the secret Myspace show. I'm a huge Underoath fan and I really enjoyed the DVD. It's well worth $10. The showcase of this DVD is the Myspace secret show that was recorded. The band plays 7 songs from their 2 most recent CDs. I actually found this to me one of the weakest parts of the DVD. For some reason the singer's voice seemed off. The on tour documentary is my personal favorite on the DVD. It features a band signing at a mall, different destinations while on tour, and a "making of" of 2 of their videos. The great thing about the documentary is you really feel like you know the members of the band. The last section, the music videos, features 3 different videos. Overall I'd highly recommend this DVD to any Underoath fan.

  2. I'd agree with what many other reviewers have said: this DVD is pretty underwhelming. You only get half a live show, but then you're only paying half the price of a regular DVD. Anyway, some positives and negatives that come to mind:

    Positives
    - Half decent audio quality for the live performances (compared to, say, the live performances on the DVD that came with They're Only Chasing Safety).

    - This DVD did a good job at getting across the band's energetic live performances and stage presence.

    - It had some "making of..." stuff.

    Negatives
    - Still some strange stuff. I don't know if it's just the guys trying to be funny for the camera, or they really are strange. Throwing the guy "in the air" is the thing that sticks out at the moment (on the last DVD it was the spinning in the chair in the hotel room scene). It just seems so forced, like they're trying a little too hard to make things exciting--either for themselves, or for the viewers.

    - Still some gratuitously disgusting stuff. On the last DVD it was primarily the vomit stuff and the odor issues. The vomit stuff makes another appearance here. WHY do bands put this kind of crap on these DVD's? Do you really think that I want to watch you chug milk and vomit it back up? Will you want to watch that 15 years from now? Will you want your kids to watch that?

    - Not really that much stuff about the actual members of the band. They did a pretty good job when it came to that type of stuff on the other DVD, so you could argue that it would be redundant to give more personal interviews and such a couple years later. However, considering how short this DVD was, some interviews would have been a nice addition, and there must be 1,001 questions they could have asked them (what gear do they use? who were there influences? etc.)

  3. Being a huge Underoath fan, as soon as I heard news of this dvd, I ordered it straight away.
The packaging for the album is very nice as it is a cardboard box with the contents inside it.
However, the dvd itself was not amazing.
Firstly, the live show was quite short (only 8 songs) and the tracklist that is written in the box is wrong, I personally think they should have included another short show or put in one longer show. However, the show is good and really reflects the energy that the band display on stage.
Then, the documentary "Moments Suspended In Time" is also quite short with a lot of scenes, usually not exceeding five minutes. The only exception was the making of the video "You're Ever So Inviting" which was personally my favourite part of the whole dvd. Overall, once again, short but it was fun.
Lastly, the music videos were, similarly as above, very few, indeed they only included three music videos from their new album, they could have included music videos from their older album or wait a bit longer to release the dvd with the new music video for "A moment suspended in time". However, once again, the quality of the music videos is very nice offering great video quality.

Overall, this dvd was good but it was much too short clocking in around an hour and a half at most. However, the material that is included on it is very good and definitely worth checking out.
Borrow it from a friend if you want to see what this band is about and buy it if you're a hardcore Underoath fan.

    Pierre Schifflers

  4. Because of all the hype over 777, I was expecting more than just a short tour diary and a few live songs that, put together, is barely an hour and half long. The live footage was great, but there just wasn't enough to leave you satisfied.. Plus, it's pretty much stuff you could find on youtube. The tour diary itself was composed of a random collection of scenes (talking while signing stuff, crazed fans raving about Underoath, vomiting after drinking gallons of milk), and some live footage; there were no interviews or anything like that. While shorter and not as 'informative' as I expected, 777 was still interesting to watch. Plus, it's a 'must-have' for your Underoath collection ;).
(I think this DVD would be much more meaningful for those who actually attended their tours last year).

  5. We were expecting a lot more content with this but it seemed like bits of footage just strung together sequentially. The live footage was good, and there were some fun video parts (ie. from the set of their video shoot in Sweden) but it seems like the main event was the "gallon challenge", where there was a lot of milk vomiting going on. Really not up to the caliber of previous underOath DVDs, but we still give it 4 stars.

  1. AILD is probably the best Metalcore band out there. SAS is a solid album with really good songs construction and guitar work. Lots of power and energy. The only problem is: the vocals suck.

Yes, I know that growling and screaming is what Metalcore is all about (which is a big reason why so much Metalcore is garbage). Still, if they would get a singer who could/would sing, AILD would probably be my favorite band.

Leaving aside the lack of vocals, however, SAS is a very good album. (P.S., catch their live show if you ever have the chance).

    Recommended.

  2. This is simply as i lay dying's best album heavy brutal and just a f*ckin masterpiece.I swear unlike other heavy bands you might not remember some of the songs but in this cd you will recall every song.I promise you will love this album even if you're not into metalcore,if you never heard this band before you simply might think they are death metal.Screw everyone who doesn't like this album they just can't deal with the fact that a christian metal band is one of the best and heaviest and called the gods of the genre.I simply love this album better than their newest one but this guys will always be one of the best FRAIL WORDS COLLAPSE is also a good album more angry and faster get that one too. This album deserves more than 5 stars yaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

  3. i love this cd it is amazing and you can buy it used on this website for really cheap

  4. I like the album booklet, but the music itself is just mediocre. I wish there were more guitar solos, and I can't stand the guys vocals. I guess I don't mind the screaming, as I like "The Fall Of Ideals" from All That Remains. But this guy's screaming is not tight, it's very sloppy. Anyway, don't get me wrong, the music is fast, drums are tight, guitars are chuggy, but I wish the vocalist would try something else out.

  5. When first listening to this album, i thought it was a stepdown from frail words of the collapse since the general tone in this album had less melody and not as many catchy vocal hooks but, when listening to it again it grew on me big time. The guitar grooves on Shadows are so damn aggressive and they capture an empowering feeling more so then Frail words of the collapse. In fact I actually like this album more then frail words for that reason.
Every song on this album is done well. The overall tone here is pulverizing rythemic guitars with change over melodic riffs which still sound aggressive. The vocals are in line with everything and add value to each song..

1 comments about The Greatest Hits.

  1. I rated this four stars strictly due to the fact that it's Keith Green, any thing Keith Green is worth at least four stars. My problem with this release is that it, along with the live album and DVD appear to be the two albums that were talked about last August, but the problem with that, is that those albums were hyped at the time as if they would be two albums of songs we'd never heard before. They really gave us the impression that they had a bunch of songs that were not ready to be released until the technology was available to do them justice and now was that time.

As it turns out, there is only one truly unheard song between both of these albums, the rest are all songs that have been previously released in one form or another. For the most part, it's just that many of these songs are taken from live performances, but there is certainly nothing "New" about them. This was a big disappointment to me, who really thought we were in store for maybe up to 20 unheard Keith Green songs. They could have at least added the song "Born Again", which has been floating around out there for a while, but as far as I know has never been part of a Keith Green compilation.

So in the end, it leaves me to wonder if this is all there really was, and if so, I wish they would have been clear about that early on, rather than leading us to believe they had something they didn't really have. On the other hand, if there is more, why did they do it this way? Are they going to piece them out to us in a never ending parade of best of and live albums? I sure hope that's not the plan. I really hope that Melody and EMI will be straight with us and let us know what they really do or do not have and if they do have something, give it an honest release.

As for the one truly "new" song that is on here titled "Your Love Came Over Me", it's a pretty good song, not one of his best, but pretty good. It's a bit rockier than most of his stuff, which was nice to hear and if it and "Born Again" (which was one of his best) are the only two "new" songs to be found, they will be treasured for sure.

  1. This CD is great. Matthew is an extremely talented singer/song writer. There is such a variety of songs on this CD that it keeps you listening without skipping around. I love all of the songs especially History and Grace. My young children love it too. I cannot wait for his next CD or even when he comes to my area in concert.

  2. This is an awesome worship cd. My children love listening to it in the car.

  3. Whether you're an avid Christian music listener or not, there's no denying that this CD moves you both physically and spiritually. Matthew West is truly a gifted song writer and singer. I recommend this CD to everyone!

  4. This is a great CD with a focus on the continuity of life and the blessing of grace for whatever has gone before and whatever lies ahead. Excellent, fun, touching, thoughtful tracks! A must buy.

  5. One day while out driving around I heard the song "History" and it stuck in my head. I finally broke down and bought the CD. It's WONDERFUL. I usually skip around on CD's (from song to song) because usually you only get 2 or 3 good songs. You can put this CD on and leave it, just let it play. It's so good. Matthew West is so talented, he wrote/co-wrote every song. I love the music (not too hard or soft, not the same sound over and over). These songs really deliver the message of God's unfathomable love and grace, which is something we all need to hear more of. Just ordered his "Happy" CD!
