  1. Leigh's voice is unlike any other you will hear. While I dearly miss SixPence NTR, I do enjoy still being able to listen to Leigh's lovely singing. If you are a SixPence fan, this is a must. If not, then try it out. Listen to it several times before you make up your mind. It grows on you. Thanks for sticking with it Leigh. I can't wait to hear more from you.

  2. If you are a fan of the gentle, gliding voice of Leigh Nash, you will enjoy the selection of Blue on Blue. Leigh has a way of infusing each song with melody beyond the music. When I play the record I find my mood elevating as I am lead by her sweet vocals into the careful lyrics. Some of the songs are pop-y, but I don't mind that because she is such a pleasure to have in the atmosphere. Each song is like a little joyous morsel that I look forward to unwrapping as the previous song ends.
As a fan of Sixpence and her Delerium track, I am happy to have found Blue on Blue. It's definitly worth the buy.

  3. I have to agree with another reviewer. For fans of Sixpense this album will get you part of the way there but not all the way. What is lacking is the essential harmony and sweet discordance that was created between Matt Slocum's guitar and Leigh's voice. I'm not pulling any punches here and being brutally honest the songs lack depth. Matt Slocum is just a better song writer and his absense here is very evident. I bought this Album because I heard and fell in love with the song "Charmed Life". One of Leigh's few solo efforts after Sixpense None The Richer. For those that are seeking that vibe - this is not the album that will give it to you.

  4. I loved this album. Although, to be fair, this definitely is not a bubble gum pop album that telegraphs within 15 seconds if you are going to like a given song or not. You really need to pay attention to what is going on and it might take two or three listens to really discover how accomplished, complex and graceful the overall album is. People who like poetry and savor listening to great lyrics will find "Blue on Blue" to be a treat during a long commute or maybe quiet afternoon where you just want to relax and contemplate things.

Leigh Nash has a particularly memorable voice that is supple and sweet without sounding too polished. And in this album, her sound is beautifully showcased with a low-key rock sound and, as I already said, some great songwriting. In fact, every time I listen to the album I'm more and more impressed with that aspect. Every song has something intriguing going on musically and the lyrics are universally intelligent, and emotionally wise. There really isn't a bad track on the whole album.

As a side note, I recommend you also check out Nash's work as a guest vocalist with Delerium. Other reviews mention that Nash was mostly known for being the lead singer for Sixpence None the Richer. But she's lent her voice to the rock-electronica band Delerium and that partnership produced some great songs. The sound is more up-tempo, but check out "Innocente" (from "Poem") and "Run for it" (from "Chimera").

  5. Leigh Nash released this, her first soloalbum, 4 years after the break-up of her band Sixpence None the Richer. Though some may feel that the album lacks a bit of the edge that can be heard on Sixpence None the Richer's albums, fans of the ballads of that band are bound to love this album too. Nash co-wrote all songs on the album, which is full of fine songwriting.

One of the very best songs "Nervous In The Light Of Dawn " was written with Sixpence None the Richer partner Matt Slocum, and it was really great news that the band in early 2008 announced their reformation.

Leigh Nash has a very beautiful voice and with so much great material it should not go wrong - and it doesn't. Most tracks are really not that different from SNTR, but the guitars are generally more in the background on this album. A nice exception to this is the rocking "Blue".

Other stand-outs are the opener "Along the Wall" - a nice ballad dominated by piano and nice vocals.

Another exquisite ballad is "Never Finsh" with its gorgeous chorus. The same could be said about the moving closing track "Just a Little".

Among the bonus-tracks there is another Matt Slocum collaboration - the upbeat "Run Together".

Vocally Nash often touches upon the same sentiments as another great songwriter Suzanne Vega; though her approach is obviously more "pop". A fine album.

  1. Thank you so much for how quickly this item was shipped and how carefully it was packaged. I will certainly do business with you again if you are selling something I'm looking for. God Bless

  2. I'm certainly not a BDW fan - but very disappointed at the Rich Mullins remake. Seldom does one improve on the original (as was the case here) so what is the point? Write your own songs and leave others alone.

  3. I really love this band. I was excited to get it. It stayed in my cd player for 2 weeks before I finally stopped listening to it in the car.

  4. I was lucky enough to see these guys in concert and couldn't WAIT to get the CD. It's really uplifting and I have about worn it out. I never get tired of listening to it.

  5. I heard big daddy for the first time in 2001! I was blessed by them and so were the entire crew that was with us. Their lyrics are honest and they are really good musicians to boot! On this albumn, the Rich Mullins song "Hold Me Jesus" is my favorite!

5 comments about Adoration: The Worship Album.

  1. Don't know why, but the Newsboys decided to jump on the worship music bandwagon. After all, everyone else is doing it. The result? One of the, if not the worst result since their first two album. "He Reigns" is a good worship song, but extremely overplayed on radio. The rest? Bad. "Amazing Love" is even more overplayed, and is the most overrated song of the decade. I don't know why they recycled "It Is You", oh wait, it's live, my bad.

Overall, a sad overrated effort from a group that made such great music. The key word there is "made". The Newsboys through out everything good from the previous album, and abandoned their roots. Sorry Newsboys, you made a mistake.

  2. A college friend of mine shared this cd with me and since then I have been listening to Newsboys. I love the lyrics, I love the music. I think my favorite song is "In Christ Alone", it truly speaks to my heart.

  3. I typically like only a few songs on any one album. This one there is only one that I'm not fond of. The others are all fantastic!

  4. "Awesome" is the one word that best describes this CD! I'd heard of Newsboys, but searched for the music after hearing Amazing Love (You Are My King) at the Lifesong church on Sunday. Can't wait to hear more from them. Inspiring & rocking worship and praise music.

  5. I like the CD, it did not take too long to receive the item, and it sounds great.

  1. Kutless is one of the best contemporary Christian bands around. They are bold in declaring Jesus as the only Way. This is one of my favorite of their CD's. It will touch your soul.

  2. This album is almost perfect. From track 1 to 11, you don't need to FF or Rewind. Just press play and enjoy.

    Awesome band and sound.

Their other album, Hearts of Innocence, is awesome too!

  3. Sea of Faces is the first Kutless CD I purchased, and now, years later, it remains the best album they've ever released, a balanced and natural-feeling project that stands firmly on its own two feet.
I attribute the unique sound of this album to a variety of factors, chief of which is the feeling of unrushed passion they project. The band is confident in their slower songs, willing to use thick guitar riffs with lots of harmonic vocal background and bass; their unpretentious rhythms and minimalist screaming make this a great musical experience, occasionally akin to a redeemed and mellow Linkin Park sound.
The message the guys broadcast here is a heartfelt tribute to the grace of God in adversity. Their lyrics are empathetic and wise without being didactic or simpering; these masculine laments are actually very hopeful pieces, with plenty of attitude. The songs are diverse, from pumping rock tracks like Not What You See and Let You In to more melodic tunes like Sea of Faces and All of the Words. I enjoy every song on this excellent and unforced album.

  4. I own all four of Kutless' albums, and this is my favorite one. It has just the right mix of loud and soft songs. I would recommend this album to anyone who is curious about Kutless and wants to get one of their CDs, or to anyone who likes Christian rock.

    Favorite songs:
    Not What You See
    All Alone
    Sea Of Faces
    Perspectives
    All The Words

  5. This cd is one of my all time favorite rock cds. The lyrics are powerful, and I love the style as well. The song "Sea of Faces" is one of my all time favorite songs. the lyrics to this song are a powerful reminder of what Christ did for us on the cross. This is a definite keeper.

5 comments about Shadows Are Security.

  1. AILD is probably the best Metalcore band out there. SAS is a solid album with really good songs construction and guitar work. Lots of power and energy. The only problem is: the vocals suck.

Yes, I know that growling and screaming is what Metalcore is all about (which is a big reason why so much Metalcore is garbage). Still, if they would get a singer who could/would sing, AILD would probably be my favorite band.

Leaving aside the lack of vocals, however, SAS is a very good album. (P.S., catch their live show if you ever have the chance).

    Recommended.

  2. This is simply as i lay dying's best album heavy brutal and just a f*ckin masterpiece.I swear unlike other heavy bands you might not remember some of the songs but in this cd you will recall every song.I promise you will love this album even if you're not into metalcore,if you never heard this band before you simply might think they are death metal.Screw everyone who doesn't like this album they just can't deal with the fact that a christian metal band is one of the best and heaviest and called the gods of the genre.I simply love this album better than their newest one but this guys will always be one of the best FRAIL WORDS COLLAPSE is also a good album more angry and faster get that one too. This album deserves more than 5 stars yaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

  3. i love this cd it is amazing and you can buy it used on this website for really cheap

  4. I like the album booklet, but the music itself is just mediocre. I wish there were more guitar solos, and I can't stand the guys vocals. I guess I don't mind the screaming, as I like "The Fall Of Ideals" from All That Remains. But this guy's screaming is not tight, it's very sloppy. Anyway, don't get me wrong, the music is fast, drums are tight, guitars are chuggy, but I wish the vocalist would try something else out.

  5. When first listening to this album, i thought it was a stepdown from frail words of the collapse since the general tone in this album had less melody and not as many catchy vocal hooks but, when listening to it again it grew on me big time. The guitar grooves on Shadows are so damn aggressive and they capture an empowering feeling more so then Frail words of the collapse. In fact I actually like this album more then frail words for that reason.
Every song on this album is done well. The overall tone here is pulverizing rythemic guitars with change over melodic riffs which still sound aggressive. The vocals are in line with everything and add value to each song..

  1. No, I am not converted to being a Superchick fan. However, I think this project is one that grows on you. I enjoyed it more the second time around than the first time.

My favorite tracks are "One Girl Revolution", "Me Against The World", "Stand Up" and "One And Lonely." I also thought "Princes And Frogs" was very creative.

  2. I bought this CD for my daughter but ended up loving it as well. The lyrics are positive and uplifting. The music is top notch.

  3. This is not just some band that a few kids decided to do when they were bored, they had a mission: to share God's word. When you listen to the songs, they have a deep meaning that, if you're in the right mood, will stir you internally. Songs:

    1. One Girl Revolution 3/5
    2. Get Up 5/5
    3. Me Against The World 4/5
    4. Barlow Girls 5/5
    5. Stand Up 4/5
    6. I Belong To You 10/5 :)
    7. Princes And Frogs 3/5
    8. One And Lonely 5/5
    9. Hero 1000000/5

As you can see, I really enjoy the song "Hero." If you listen to it, you'll know why. I think it just sounds so real; that that's really what goes on in schools (especially middle or high school) and we don't stand up for the ones who don't for themselves. It just makes me think how much better our world would be if we were all "Heros."

I also enjoy the song "I Belong To You." I can so relate to what is being sung. I do feel the way it says; (life is hard just to get through, I'm glad that I belong to You...) I mean, I don't feel like that a lot, but when I do, I know God will hear my cry in the middle of the night. Great meaning, and I love the guitar in it.

All the songs are good, just some slightly (or greatly) better than others. If you've never heard this CD or don't own it, I'd strongly advise it, for it not only provides great listening music, but an inspirational meaning within the songs.

  4. I discovered this group when I heard their new song "Stand in the Rain" playing on KLOVE, the Christian radio station. I then realized they sing a lot of songs I recognize. They reminded me of some bands I listened to back in college. They have a good sound but a positive message. I'm in my 30's and I appreciate them a lot. Whether you are an adult going through hard times like divorce or a kid just getting through high school, you will definitely appreciate their music. I downloaded all their available cd's off Itunes. They repeat songs on their albums which means you will sometimes get multiple copies of a song if you purchase all their CD's but they tend to be a different remix so it's still ok to have both.

Best songs on this album in my opinion:
    Get Up
    Stand Up
    Princes and Frogs
    Hero

  5. I LOVED it!!! I just got addicted to Superchick by a friend and once I listened to the cd I was hooked. The songs are great. There was only one that I didin't like but that's ok. My favorite one is number 9 "Hero" It sends out a strong message and it's dramatic. The thing it's cristian but it's still good. For any teen girl. Buy this cd and you won't regret it.

5 comments about The Second Decade 1993-2003.

  1. The Second Decade is a great album.

You are Holy, Above All, and This is Your Time are incredible.

This is a must have for any Michael W. Smith fan. You will not be disappointed.

  2. This is the first Mchael W. Smith CD I've ever owned, and I love every track. I've heard a few of his songs at my used Christian bookstore and glanced over his older albums . . . a bemusing experiment considering how dated his early look was. Then we found a book written by Mr. Smith and I was impressed by his humility and burden for young people, so I began thinking about trying out his music. I know they say you can't judge a book by it's cover, but I liked the picture on this CD and it's been said that a best hits album is a good place to start if you haven't followed an artist's career from the beginning. I was FAR from dissapointed! My favorite tracks are Friends, Above All, Missing Person, This Is Your Time, Cry For Love, and Love Me Good. Love Me Good really stood out to me. This is a guy who can be himself with God (though ever reverent). Listening to him belt out his frusteration with a hectic life and his unabashed need for the love of God just makes your heart sing along. TEN STARS!

  3. this is the very first Michael W. Smith CD that I have ever gotten... I realize now that if I really wanted to get aquainted with someone like Michael, I should've gone for the first decade instead of this one. Why didn't I go for the first decade? I couldn't find it in the store I was at! so I wound up going for the second decade instead. I was first turned on to mike's music in Christmas of '06, when they had him on Direct TV's channel 103, which I highly recommend during holidays like Christmas, Easter, and the 4th of July if you're a fan of Christian concerts. then he performed again on the same tv station on the 4th of july, and after I heard Mike sing, I got chills down my spine... he was so good! I thought, I have to get my hands on one of his albums! and as of yesterday I did. I highly recommend this and possibly any of Mike's albums, although I have yet to hear them. I love the songs breakdown, love me good, missing person, as well as this is your time are some of my faves. I highly recommend this CD!

  4. While I do like the first decade better. The last song on the album, which is called Raging Sea is worth every penny by itself!

  5. I have had Michael W Smith's First Decade CD for some time, and have just bought Second Decade. I've always liked his music, but have mainly heard his music through my sister's collection. Only recently did I start purchasing his music for myself.
Second Decade may seem bland to long-time fans, but for relative newcomers to his music, it is a well-chosen collection.
There is a nice mixture of older music along with a couple of new songs, making for a wonderful listening experience.
My favourite track, so far, is 'Above All'. I would prefer this track as a studio recording, but there is nothing wrong with the live recording that is included in this compilation. My other top choice (again, for the moment) is Straight to the Heart.
With the exception of 'Friends', these are the only songs that I am fully familiar with.
The rest are more or less new songs to me, making this a great purchase.

5 comments about Steven Curtis Chapman: Greatest Hits.

  1. My review is long overdue. This is one of my favorite CD's - and if you look at the back of my CD, it shows! What a talented song-writer and performer. The CD is packed with a great mix of some of his finest songs. Don't limit yourself to this CD alone - every project of his is worth adding to your collection. Praise God for his inspirational music that spans the generations. Enjoy!

  2. Great Cd! Love his music and his message. I plsy him alot snd he is very comforting and inspirational as well as hip and upbeat. If you have never listened to him, this is the one to start with.

  3. One of, if not THE, greatest CD that Chapman has ever compiled. There aren't any words for his songs. They hit "home" in ways indescribable. "Not Home Yet" will forever be my favorite SCC song; I based my entire high school valedictorian speech on it. By far one of my favorite CD's that I own. I'd recommend it to absolutely anybody.

  4. I really like Steven Curtis Chapman's songs. The music is very good guitar-driven rhythms and the lyrics are great. This Greatest Hits cd captures the best songs from the first half of his career (First Hand to Signs of Life). I wish it would have included "Let Us Pray" and "I Will Not Go Quietly", but other than that I found it to be a wonderful way to hear a lot of his songs. This CD is a great place to start you SCC collection; I'm sure Greatest Hits 2 is in the working to gather songs from his latest cds (Speechless, Declaration, All About Love, and All Things New). Now go out and get it! (I would have given it 4.5 stars but amazon does not allow that yet!)

  5. This collection contains some of the strongest songs of Steven Curtis Chapman's early career, and serves as a launching pad for all the albums to come. He has grown in strength and confidence over the years, and this album singles out those tracks that have captured him at his peak through each stage.

Two brand new tracks, Not Home Yet and I Am Found In You, give us a glimpse of the Steven Curtis Chapman to come - a much more audibly passionate and uninhibited artist than when he first started out. New versions of Lord of the Dance and The Walk (recorded at Abbey Road Studios) start to capture some of the energy found in Chapman's live performances.

With so many excellent songs to choose from, it must have been difficult to narrow it down to these 14 tracks. You may be surprised at some of the songs that are missing, but you definitely won't be disappointed with any of the ones that made the cut.

5 comments about Rock of Ages...Hymns & Faith.

  1. This is an album of Christian music, primarily but not entirely focused on older hymns. The music is fairly mainstream country-rock. Grant's voice is very beautiful. All of the songs are very good. For me, the stand-outs are "Joyful, Joyful" a Christian hymn set to Beethoven's secular-pagan-messianic classic "Ode to Joy" from the 9th Symphony and "El Shaddai," an extremely simple and moving hymn to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

  2. You know, I have to give the Glory to GOD in Jesus' name for HIS servant Amy - - I have been healed and inspired for twenty years because of her willingness to share the gifts and talents GOD gave her to impart HIS unconditional, unfailing, and never-ending love for each and every one of us. Her albums have kept me from losing faith altogether..many, many times. I praise GOD in Jesus' name for the beautiful music, flowing right through me....and for the knowledge that "anywhere with Jesus, I am not alone, anywhere with Jesus, I can safely go. Sweet WILL of GOD..Let me say once more..that I love YOU.

  3. This album touchs all the spiritial feelings of ones soul. As I listen to this album, I can almost feel each song shift my emotions into a different gear. This is a great album to melt away the stresses of the day, while at the same time bringing an inner peace at the promise of tomorrow, by way of ones redemption in our renewal of faith. It is a beautifully produced album, and I am glad I have it in my collection. Re: the comments by "Christian Mom" It sounded kind of familiar. Almost like what a blacksmith would say when she would have an ax or two, too grind.

  4. What a wonderful album. Simple inspirational songs by a great singer. The execution is very professional...a hallmark of Vince Gill albums.

This album gives Ms. Grant another chance to showcase her beautiful voice w/songs on traditional church hymns. We all know that she's great at singing pop...but some of us don't like pop that much! I've grown up w/many of these songs in church, it's so happy to hear Ms. Grant sing them. Thank you, Amy & Vince.

  5. How can anyone say this is a terrible cd? It's great. I love it. I am an Amy fan and have been for quite some time and I think they are all great and this latest one is one of the best.
