1 comments about Face of Mercy.

  1. I have several of Dallas Holm's CDs and, when I bought this particular album, I was going through a time of grief over my daughter who was suffering from a debilitating disease which caused much pain and suffering. During one of my telephone conversations with her I played her the track "I'll Fight for you" and also the last track "This too shall pass". It was such an inspiration to her that she bought her own copy.

She has since gone to be with her Lord and I know that this particular album helped her work through all the issues of death.

The songs that Dallas Holm wrote on this particular album from the title song "Face of Mercy" to the last song "This Too Shall Pass" are truly God inspired songs and deal with conversion, praise and worship, fellowship and how God is a tower of strength in times of sadness.

The one song "When We Worship Him" is also pretty profound and expresses the fact that worship is an individual issue, whether it is with lifting of our hands, clapping and dancing, or with kneeling and bowing. All God desires from us is sincerity and truth when we worship Him.

Track seven "To The Glory" is another truly God inspired song and lifts our hearts towards Heaven as we realize that we worship an AWESOME GOD!!

This CD is a must for anyone looking for inspiration and upliftment from God.

3 comments about Mendham.

  1. I've had this CD now for approximately 5 years. To this day it is still my favorite piano CD and I still listen to it regularly. I would compare it somewhat to George Winston's 'December' in that Mendham never gets old and is always fresh. Sometimes I feel like I'm listening to it for the first time and I'm reminded as to just how good a writer David really is. I would recommend this CD, as well his others, to any piano music fan.

  2. I need help ! I have no possibility to buy and order this two CD 's of David Tolk . Who can help me ? I want this two CD's & I can't order this one's from Germany (have no Credit Card)! If someone out there who can help me , please give me an E-mail ! Best Regrads ThomasDittrich@Hotmail.com

  3. David's unique approach to a universal style of new age piano is heart-felt, honest, and pure. This is a great album.

5 comments about Fire and Love.

  1. As much as I loved "hair metal" growing up, I somehow missed Guardian the first time around, discovering them a few years ago when I ran across a used copy of their 1992 album Miracle Mile. That was such an impressive album that I've been actively hunting down the band's other releases, including this one - 1990's Fire and Love.

Fire and Love is an incredible melodic rock album, and is one of those releases that managed to go beyond the "hair metal" label. In terms of overall sound and quality level, Fire and Love was similar to what bands like Lillian Axe, Tesla, and Mr. Big were releasing at the time. The melodies are great, the guitar work is incredible, and the vocals really steal the show. Fire and Love was the first album to feature Jamie Rowe on vocals, and does he ever make a great first impression! His energy and spirit are evident in his powerful performance, which really sets Fire and Love apart from the pack. The presence of John Elefante (Kansas) on keys and backing vocals is another plus.

As far as the band's lyrical content goes, it's no secret that Guardian is a Christian band. Still, the lyrics are general enough that they shouldn't alienate any non-Christian listeners. You can interpret these songs however you choose and they remain just as emotional and powerful.

Fire and Love is just a fantastic melodic rock album that should appeal to just about anyone who enjoys this kind of music, regardless of your faith (or lack thereof). The only reason this isn't getting a full 5-star rating is that the band's 1992 follow-up Miracle Mile is so much better.

  2. To see what this album is selling for among the used ranks -- I'm mad I got rid of my album now! It was one of my favs among the Christian Rock scene, but eventually the music got a little old and tired. However, if you wish to relive your 'Christian rock' days, this is a pretty good album to do so with. Be sure to check out their 'Swing Swang Swung' album, which is IMHO their best album....and yet doesn't get the publicity of the others because it had a more acoustic rock feel.

  3. Gran disco!!!!!
Despues de ver el video Power of Love sabia que Guardian iba a hacer mi grupo preferido.

Never say goodbye es una estupenda balada.

  4. Guardian is one of many bands which never struck fame. They're perhaps a diamond in the rough as their album "Fire & Love" is one of the absolute best heavy metal albums ever produced. Every single track is hard hitting and delivers great metal sound from the vocals courtesy of one of the best in the biz Jamie Rowe, the guitar riffs, bass lines, drum work, everything flows perfectly. The harmony in the backing vocals is superb. I would have to say this album ranks up there with the hardest rocking best. No matter whether you're into Christian metal such as Stryper or Petra or you stick with the mainstream, this is a hard rocking metal album you definately need to hear and own!

  5. This entire cd is EXCELLENT!! No bad tracks, a PERFECT CD!!! "Turnaound" is my favorite track.

5 comments about To Hell With The Devil.

  1. Another great cd by stryper. What else coud I say. The cd is as great as the cassette. A must for anyone collecting christian metal music. Just like I remember when they first came out. They know how to get the message accross. They really rock.

  2. "To Hell With the Devil" and "Soldiers Under Command" are both classic Christian rock album but which one is better? At least from "To Hell With the Devil" Stryper often plays more songs than "Soldiers...". The Devil's 'nightmare song' "To Hell With the Devil", "Calling on You", "Free", "The Way", and their greatest hit, the ballad, "Honestly" are played probably in every gig they have had in 00's. Also "More Than a Man" and "Sing-Along Song" are very often in the set lists. This album reprents everything that Stryper has to offer: heaviness, tenderness, a great message, and great songs with great playing and singing. Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Timothy Gaines, and Oz Fox are truly God's soldiers. However, there's more great songs that just those seven I mentioned at first; "All of Me" is a great beautiful ballad, "Rocking the World" really rocks, and "Holding on" is also a good song, although quite basic stuff for Stryper. "More than a Man" could be called "To Heaven With Jesus" also because if you sing it and mean what you sing, you're soul will be saved. Great album, I recommend this together with the album "Soldiers Under Commandment" because they both are Christian metal classics.
Stars: Honestly, To Hell With the Devil, The Way, More Than a Man

  3. I had heard of Stryper in the 80s, then in the 90s they were about as 80s as totally 80s gets. Then they made a comeback this decade. This is their best aklbum, featuring the huge hit Honestly with a woman on vocals. The rest of the album is more straight forward metal, not really Christian lyrics all the time but condemning Satan. I picked up the Roxx Regime which contains Yellow and Black Attack and Honestly, and the only track better than hOnestly on there is From Wrong to Right. Abyss the opener gets things going, a joke their not. With this album they have gotten rid of most of the 50s influences into a much more EMO Poison meets Slayer tongue in cheek Christian metal band with a "we're the Christian metal kings" humor. Don't miss it!

  4. Come on, admit it.... you remember the old days when MTV actually played music, watching the Stryper videos playing and rocking out to the music.

I got the urge to hear some of their classic hits again, so I picked up the first four CDs via Amazon. I fully expected to listen to them now and think, "Huh, I remember them being so much better than this...."

I was wrong. Their original songs still rock as hard today as any other band out there in their sound genre. They didn't go for half the gimicky sound that some of the bands had, they just stuck to a standard rock & roll formula that worked, and it sounds just as great today as it did back then.

Well worth the meager price paid for the CDs. ;-)

  5. If you want to hear Styper hungry, but polished: driven, but uncompromising lyrically...then this is your album. Listen to the song More than a Man. These guys were big in the secular market in 1986, but this song gives praise and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ himself. It's a wonderful album!

5 comments about The Garden.

  1. One summer soon after "The Garden" CD was available, we purchased one to play in our van as we and our children (mostly teens) traveled from Virginia to Utah. This CD was the favorite of all. We listened to it over and over all the way across the USA and never got tired of it. In fact, when we got to Utah we got tickets to see the premier performance which was taking place at the U of U at that time. We were all awed by the message, the performance, the music, and what we felt there. That feeling was renewed as we traveled home to Virginia and again listened to the CD over and over again. It has remained a favorite of our family ever since.

  2. Though the musicianship and recording are excellent, the content is wanting. There is a wonderful message, but it is partially obstructed by cheesy lyrics and repetitive passages. There must be a better Easter program out there.

  3. This cd takes your breath away with its brilance. This is a must have for anyone who has faith in Christ and wishes to feel that great sacrafice that he gave for us. Listen to this cd you will love and charish it over and over.

  4. I hate to say this, 'cause Michael Mclean is accused by some of being cheezy, but I think this CD is a masterpiece. It really moves me every time I listen to it. I really think it's a masterpiece.

  5. I'm a return missionary for the LDS church. The CD gave me a testimony of the Atonement of Christ. It's amazing. Buy it, it's worth the money -- many times over.

5 comments about All the Time in the World.

  1. They are just awesome singers and dancers they are one of my favorite band .

  2. I enjoyed this DVD very much. There was a colorful music video for the hit song "All The Time In The World", as well as a live performance of the dance song "Start Jumpin'". I found the interviews with each member of Jump5 to be very interesting, and it was fun to get a tour of their rooms. All in all, I would say this DVD is a must for any Jump5 fan.

  3. I've watched this video 50 million times ! Around there , anyway . I love it ! It's so cool ! I'm like a HUGE fan of Jump 5 , I'm so crazy about them , so when I finally got this , the $(...) I paid for it was worth it . If it was $(...) , I still would have bought it . The interviews are cool , I have the same tv as Brittany does ! I LOVE the music video for Start Jumpin' , it's my 2'nd favorit next to Spinnin' Around . ( Go check out teir first music video , Jump5 ) . I like how they actually dance and dress modestly , it's great for teens . Buy it today ! You won't regret it , I did'nt , I watch it 20 times a day !

  4. Being the Jump5 fanatic that I am, I just HAD to get the All the Time in the World DVD, and I've watched it about seven hundred times. There's a video for "All I Can Do" on the DVD, a live performance of "Start Jumpin'," behind the scenes of the new mucis video for "Beauty and the Beast," and lastly (and the best part), interviews with each kid in their bedrooms.

The two videos are really cool, and I had never seen them before, but the interviews are definately the best part. You kind of get to see who's who...what each personality is like. I also loved the behind the scenes bit, because it was pretty neat to see what they did to make the video.

I highly recommend this to any fan, or possibly nonfan - to get them into Jump5.

    Overall grade - A+

  5. If you like Jump5,just starting to like them or are new to them this dvd is the best!! Even though its only 21 mins. long you will fall in love with it! It has Their newest video All I Can Do, Behind the scenes in their rooms at home,A concert on Go For T.V (they performed Start Jumpin') and Beauty and The Beast behind the scenes footage. The video All I can Do is a wonderful video and is taken place first on a bus then at the beach and back on the bus! Its a much better video than Spinin Around (its on their first Dvd if you wanna check it out). The best part is the tour of their rooms and its soo coooooooooooool!! They tell you about everything and lots of other stuff! I missed the episode on Go For It on T.V that had Jump5 on it and know I get to watch it as many times as I like! The Beauty and the Beast is very fun to watch because unlike the first dvd its not in Blue and White, its in color! THis dvd is so cool you will want to watch it over and over again! I have watched it like 40 times and still haven't gotten tired of it!!

  1. "Spirit In The Sky" on Disc #2 is the same length as Disc #1, 4:01 mins., and is not 3:02 mins. as stated on rear of CD case. When both are simultaneously played, they sound indentical and sync perfectly. This (missing) demo track was the reason why I purchased this CD set.

5 comments about 7 Weeks: Live in America, 2003.

  1. There are almost the same track in "Live in Puerto Rico" too but this album has Closing Prayer instead of "You Won't Be Lonely". I have to say that I like the both live albums but I think this is a little bit better. The audience is a little bit more resposive than in "Puerto Rico". This can be also because of this album is not only taken from one gig. The songs are taken from various gigs. There was 35 gig in USA in that tour, so there was plenty to be chosen from. The album starts nicely with "Sing Along Song" which is a great song in this album. There's 6 more songs from "To Hell With the Devil" performed live, three songs from "Soldiers Under Command", Loud'n Clear which is taken from "The Yellow And Black Attack!", and also "Winter Wonderland" together with Closing Prayer. The most surprising track, however, is "Caught in the Middle" which can be found in "Against the Law". Well, this live album is perfectly mixed, and seems that Stryper wants the fans have the best sound quality there is.
Stars: To Hell With the Devil, The Way, Loud 'N Clear, Sing Along Song

  2. This CD is Packed from start to finish with Thee Best Stryper Jams. They are High energy Metal Superbly Performed Live. Any True Stryper fan will not be disapointed with this CD and if they are disapointed, Well then, they obviously aren't True Stryper fans. Michael Sweet's Vocals are Unreal as usual, Robert's Drums are Pounding out all the Metal right on Beat and Ozz Fox's Guitar Work will just leave you in Awe and wanting More. God Bless Stryper! I Hope they keep putting out Great music for many years to come.

  3. First off I want to say I really like live recordings. Mistakes and all,raw is the only way a live album should sound. Examples are Poison's Swallow The Live or Power To The People cd. It is so raw that it almost sounds like a bootleg. Dokken's Beast From The East is another great one...as well as Tesla's Replugged double cd. The last two being a bit more polished so even the raw sound comes though on your stereo really good. This Stryper cd is the same. Sounds a bit muddy, you can hear guitar reverb and to me that is a good thing. Roberts drums sound great! I personally don't like a band to make a live album and then produce it, editing mistakes and adding overdubs, etc. The quality of a good live recording is here.

The song selection could have been better I think. I think this should have been a double cd much like Tesla's Replugged. They have enough albums to do it and I wanted to hear so much more. I wish they opened with "In God We Trust" as they did when I saw them on tour as Robert climbed a pole to get to his drum kit on a riser. That or maybe "Soldiers Under Command"/"Makes Me Want to Sing" to get it started. Most of the hits are hear including a different version of "Honestly" as well as the rare song "Winter Wonderland". My list of must haves would have included "Shining Star"(would love to hear that one live!), "Keep The Fire Buring", "Always There For You", "Lady", "C'mon Rock", "You know What To Do",and "Together Forever" just to name a few.

Bottom line for someone thinking about buying this cd...This is a good live recording that features the major hits of the band. If you are a fan of To Hell With The Devil you will really like it as they play most of the concert from that album. I really wish they played four or five songs from each album and made a double live cd but I am still happy they have an official live recording out.

Stand out songs are: "Calling On You" "Free" "Loud'N'Clear" and "Caught In The Middle"

  4. STRYPER ARE AWESOME LIVE.I CAUGHT THIS TOUR,SO I KNOW.IF YOUR INTO THEIR ALBUMS,YOU'LL BE INTO THIS.A LITTLE POP METAL,A LITTLE HEAVY METAL,BUT IT'S ALL GOOD.CHECK IT OUT,IT'S OLD SCHOOL AT IT'S BEST.LOUD N' CLEAR N' IN YOUR FACE!

  5. Never made a review before, so will make this short and SWEET (Pun intended :) I grew up listening to these guys since day one. Although my timing is a bit off, I just picked this CD up today. This is by far one of the best live recordings I've ever heard! It's hard, heavy, and I don't think any of the band members made any goofs while performing. If you love the heavier Stryper tunes, you HAVE to get this. You will not be sorry! The bass, heavy guitars, the perfect playing......get it before it's almost impossible or highly priced, you won't be sorry!

5 comments about 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of the Everly Brothers.

  1. I listened to this cd prior to purchasing it for my husband. Wow, the tunes took me back to some fun times. My husband and I sang and still sing to the Everly Brothers songs on this cd. Good times, really.

  2. 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of the Everly Brothers is a budget priced album geared toward the casual fan who just wants a small sampling of what these guys could really do! The sound quality is quite good and the artwork is about par for this CD series.

The CD starts off with The Everly Brothers doing great on "Bye Bye Love;" this was one of their greatest early rock and roll hits ever and it's no wonder why! They sing wonderfully; and the guitar arrangement sounds just perfect. They handle the tempo changes very well and I always enjoy "Bye Bye Love" even though it's a melancholy song! "Wake Up Little Susie" is a peppy little ballad that gets the royal treatment from The Everly Brothers; they sing wonderfully of how their late night date lasted a bit longer than they promised her parents it would. Again, the guitar work on "Wake Up Little Susie" is truly excellent.

"All I Have To Do Is Dream" features the brothers performing beautifully on a more romantic, slow dance ballad and they never miss a beat! The Everly brothers had great sets of pipes and this number proves it! "Devoted To You" is another love song with a slow tempo that is perfect for dancing with your sweetheart late at night all alone in your living room. Great!

"Let It Be Me" showcases The Everly Brothers singing so sweetly of love and a love they have for their girlfriends; they harmonize to perfection and the strings work well for "Let It be Me." "Cathy's Clown" is another highlight of this album; The Everly Brothers deliver this with panache and I am very impressed! "Cathy's Clown" is a very solid number.

The album ends with The Everly Brothers performing what sounds like a more recent ballad entitled "On The Wings Of A Nightingale." "On The Wings Of A Nightingale" shines brightly as they deliver this number with all their hearts and souls.

Overall, this is an excellent primer for those who want to know just how great The Everly Brothers really were. I highly recommend this CD for the casual fan and newcomers to The Everly Brothers. More diehard fans will want something more substantial; and that's why this cannot be a four star review.

  3. The Everly Brothers were a dream back in the late fifties and early sixties. This is a classic sound from this era in music, and you will love this CD if you like this kind of music. If you have an open mind and like to experience all kinds of music, this sound is beautiful, even today. I could listen to this CD all day long and never tire of the beautiful harmony of the brother's voices. Back then, they crossed over the rock, pop, and country sounds which in my opinion is indicative of superior talent.

  4. Treat yourself to the sweet harmonies of the Everly Brothers, with a CD that has been remastered to underscore their pure sound. Played this for my musician son in law who was not familiar with their music and he is so impressed. All the hits are here, sounding better than ever. An outstanding addition to your collection --

  5. Long ago in californialand, i heard the last everly brothers "hit", on the wings of a nightingale, 1 time and i knew I HAD to have it. Took me about 20 years to find it, in this album. If you really like good music, with tight harmonies, good guitar work, words you can understand, a little bit of country and early rock to the still bitchin, fresh, updated sound of nightingale, then STOP RIGHT HERE and get this album. Enough said!
