- This is both def and wack. Outasite dudes. Keep up with the driving and rapping beats. The rhymes are tight and the vocals are fantastic. Way to bring it playa!
- Now for people on here who claim that T-bone is not a real christian rapper, Let me tell you something: There are many things that T-bone says on this album that praises Jesus [Listen to ''Wipe your tears'', ''Conversion'', ''Tha last street preacha'', To name a few]. What most people don't understand is that when T-bone speaks of the stuff he speaks of, He's talking about his past and how god raised him up from that! Cmon, You can't be mad at T-bone because of his gangsta-ridden past! He's saved and he's a christian now! This album ministers to me every single time i listen to it. The hottest songs on here are ''Wipe your tears'' [My favorite song on the album], ''Ride wit me'', ''My dream'' [A testimonial song by T-bone that you shouldn't take as a gangsta song in disguise], ''Conversion'', and ''Throw ya handz up''. With his flow [Which he can rap slow or fast in english or spanish], T-bone clearly shows that he's the best thing that ever happened to holy hip-hop and he's probably the dopest hispanic rapper i've ever heard. I only wish his first 3 albums were still in print cause if this album is as dope as it is, I can only imagine what his earlier albums were like! But all in all, This is surely a satisfying christian rap cd that shouldn't be viewed the wrong way. This is inspiring for any christian who's had it rough before being saved. Hope my review helped. Be blessed.
- This is a sweet CD from T-Bone, I loved this album, I had it for about 2 years. He got some great tracks on this album especially "Wipe Your Tears". It's good for those who love rap especially fast-paced rap.
- This album is ok. I own other cds by T-Bone and this one just did not minister to me like some of his others. He does have some powerful messages but sometimes its hard to understand what he is saying when he is rapping rapidly.
- this was album was good..but not the best of ive heard..tracks that truly stand out in this are "Wipe Your Tears" "Conversion", "Mami Linda" " Last Street Preacha" "Freinds" " U dont know" " Throw yo hands up" and sum other were alright..but after hearing it a while u get annoyed by thew same stlye he repeats in his raps.. id stik wit Cross Movement.. but i gave this 3 stars cuz it aint the worst and it aint the best..dunt get me wrong..this album is good..jus not that good

- There was alot of buzz around '92 when EAZY E signed these 2 Jewish rappers to Priority Records. From what i remember they were the 1st Jewish rappers on a major label at the time. Their sound is really original and funky with their religion being a huge influence and focal point of their lyrics. So when the lead single "Stabbed by the Steeple" came out in '93 alotta fans including myself immediately dug it and went out and got the album. Overall the album is tight with "Stabbed by the Steeple" possibly being the best cut on it. With other strong cuts such as "This Great Land Devours", "Southern Comfort", "Stick To Your Kind", "Im Not The Man", "3-2-1 Contact", "Another Nail In The Coffin" (excellent), "Life" and "Niggaz & Jewz" feat.Eazy E. The others are not weak they're just not as tight as the others and/or sound too similar to other tracks. Overall it was a very strong debut from a crew that went through alot of contractual crap after this to only release one other album "EyeDollarTree" which was also tight as hell.
- Before Matisyahu, before Eminem, there was Blood of Abraham. I remember when the first album came out. What is this? Jewish rap? We still called it rap back then, not hip-hop. I ran out to Wax Stacks Records and got Future Prophets by Blood of Abraham, on cassette tape of course. As I was about to turn and leave the store, the guy at the counter called be back, and lo and behold, gave me a handfull of Blood of Abraham stickers. The next day I went around and put them up everywhere, after all, at last there existed a serious group comprising musicians of my own ethnic group utilizing a hip, modern form of music. When I excitedly told my rabbi about it, he told me it wasn't dignified to vandalize public property by putting up stickers. The next day, I went around town removing all of the Blood of Abraham stickers I could. After all, I was a proud, dignified Jew and proud, dignified Jews do not vandalize. But then the next day, I decided that this was the best chance of spreading the message of being proud and dignified. So I took the remaining stickers and put them back up all around town.
Most of my friends didn't understand.
"What does 'jah!' mean? is that a drug reference?"
"If they're Jewish, why arn't they Blood of Jacob?"
Another one asked me to repeatedly play the song about beating up on rednecks. I tried to explain to him that I didn't want to offend the community of the American South. He said nothing about the funky basslines or the incorporation of freeform jazz. He had never heard of Eazy-E. Because this was years before Subliminal or Remedy or anything else, I listened to Blood of Abraham over and over. It fit a little better then Public Enemy. And yet it wasn't until this year that I understood the Taxi Driver references. So run out and get Future Prophets, and the new one, Eyedollartree, because Blood of Abraham still kicks.

2 comments about Holy Hip Hop: Taking the Gospel to the Streets, Vol. 2.
- I like the variety of rappers on this CD. Most songs have great lyrics.
- "Holy Hip Hop: Taking the Gospel to the Streets-Vol. 2" is the follow-up to the highly successful "Holy Hip Hop-Vol. 1". Produced by Christopher "Play" Martin (of Kid 'n Play fame) and C.J. Wickman, it tries hard to continue the success of its predecessor. The messages are still there-to give the Lord the ultimate praise, but there's some new acts carrying on the message to all of the Lord's people. The first track by The Preachaholicz, "Club Blazer", helps to get the disc off to a good start, while songs by 2Godio ("World Listen"), Karusso's "Why I Write", Rhymes Elect and LaTisha Spence's "Love Concept", F.I.R.E.'s thumping "Dis My Life" and 2Five's street anthem, "In Da Streetz", helps to round out the sound. Other highlights are Sean Slaughter with "Die Daily", The Spiritual Lyricist and M. "Sonny Smith"'s "No Greater Love", Indascreet's catchy "Miracles" and the bumping hidden "Bonus Track" by King Ray keeps the CD bumping, bumping! Prizm's radical "Watch Ya Back" helps to put the song into perspective about who's side we all should be on and Andre Williams returns with the familiar voice as the MC in between songs. In conclusion, all of the artists on this are new to the Christian hip-hop rap game. Without any of the artists from the first one, it makes this release alright to listen to. Don't just blow off this release because it still praises the Lord nevertheless and the artists gave their all with this. If you have the first one, then pick up this one too. This CD is worth it. Praise the Lord!

- I almost gave it four stars because it's close but the delivery of so many of their rhymes annoyes me. The content is good and the beats are decent but if the flow isn't right, I cringe...
- lemme c here - first there waz "composition no. 1" (phat, but lackin' sorely on cohesive post-production), then u had "call it what you want" (a slept-on collection that u prolly can't get anywhere now), then tha whole squint debacle that left their recording futurez in limbo, then tha personnel changez and solo releasez got thrown out there, then gotee got 'em and helped them push tha archived stuff out along with tha "baloney" EP, and then "the end is now" - perhapz tha most sonically satisfyin' CD 2 that point - dropped and if u weren't a fan of tha symph, that disc made u at least marvel at what they've accomplished amidst tha drama......
and yet, tha saga continuez with "disappear here" (full release #4, if you're countin') and they pick right up where they left off with infectious lyrix, phat beatz and a love 4 Christ and Hiz message that beliez tha dopeness. conspicuously missin' are eternal iconoclast pigeon john, tha once-ubiquitous b-twice, tha enigmatic terry mcfly (fka trendi mc) and personal fave greatjason (fka j-beits). but i'm more than cool with what'z left, becauze it all comez 2gether right. check out "grand piano", "funky music", tha lead single "timeless" and "hold on". THEN hit up their website and get tha rest of their junk....EXCEPT "call it what you want". wonder why THAT iz.....

- Most people make the mistake of assuming that ALL Christian rap is garbage. And I understand why: They Try Too Hard. And everyone knows that when you try to hard, you usually miss your target.
Back to the point...
Enter Mars iLL, emphasis on the "ill". These dudes seriously stay true to the Word and the words. Manchild on the mic and Dust on the wax...maintaining their ties to the underground community.
People argue about the "Greatest Rapper Alive". I definately nominate Manchild. Without a doubt. His words are real, and you get what he's saying. Crossing boundaries like class, Mars iLL is a must for any hip-hop head. Seriously.
- Mars iLL is some of the best hip-hop coming out of Atlanta right now. Support your scene and this great band!
- After a LONG, long wait for fans of the Atlanta based, underground sensation Mars Ill's second release, Pro-pain is now on shelf stores. Supposed to have released in 2004, legal trouble kept us in limbo. The final product is well worth the wait. As usual, Mars Ill rips their lives wide open and provide a depth in lyrics very rarely found in any hip-hop, Christian or secular. I appreciate that the lyrics are never Christian fluff, sermons that rhyme, or cruddy metaphors; instead it is raw, real, and unapologetic. Not to mention that the beats are hot. Among others, Pro-Pain includes guest artists Ahmad Jones (4th Ave. Jones) and Cappadonna (Wu Tang Clan). It doesn't matter if you are a hip hop fan or not, this album will blow your mind and your stereo, go pick it up and support these guys!!
- i thought this cd was never going to come out, but boy am i glad it did, this cd is so tight. I is....the best track.

- As with all dcTalk albums, 'Free At Last' is excellent.
This CD features a number of outstanding songs in various genres. There is truly something for everyone. It includes rock, pop, and rap. The lyrics are unashamedly Christian.
Some of the best songs on this album include the following: Say The Words, Luv Is A Verb, Jesus Is Just Alright, Time Is, The Hardway, and Lean On Me.
The version that I have also includes 'Free At Last - The Movie' and two music videos. I highly recommned that version containing the DVD.
If you don't have any dcTalk, this is a good one to start with. Their music is something that will grow on you. Buy it!
- I personally think DC Talk is the greatest band that has ever walked the face of the earth. Their talent is bottomless, and the producing ability of Toby Mac is the most brilliant thing I have ever seen. There has never been a band with as much masterful originality as DC Talk, and I doubt I will ever see another one. They have also an incredible diversity, as their style for each of their albums is completely different, and conforms to the most popular style of each era.
This particular album happens to be born of the early 90's hip-hop/funk world, and is arguably one of the best albums ever made. 16 years (and hundreds of albums) later and this is still one of my absolute favorites.
- People are surprised to find this CD in my collection. But I just say, "With the music, the beat, the lyrics, and the harmonies on this project, what's NOT for a middle-aged, Southern Baptist, white woman to like?" They just laugh and so do I as I crank it up a bit louder and sing along, drumming my fingers on the steering wheel of my Buick Century.....
Hmmm...that reminds me. It's time to buy another copy of this one....
- This CD is one of the early DcTalk Albums...its a classic and i really liked it when i had it.
- "I don't want it" is the stupidest, most distasteful song ever. Don't tell people how to have sex goddamnit!!!!!!!!!

- This ain't hot at all. He get 2 stars just for trying and he saved. If you want to hear REAL Christian hip hop Please check out Lecrae, DA T.R.U.T.H.,116 Clique: The Compilation Album, Sean Slaughter, Mr Del, Trip Lee, Tedashii, and Flame. Any of these cd's will make you throw this one away. I'm sorry but I gotta keep it Real!
- For those of you that think the Ras ...[is no good]. Ya'll are trippin'. This fool is on fiya for God and knows how to rap. THis cd is worth buyin'. Trust me. The best songs are: DOWN SOUTH, FILL THA BLANKS, GUNS IN THA AIR, HAVE YOU ANY LOVE, THA DAY AFTER, AND WHO'S THA GREATEST.
- I'm feeling this CD a little bit. I'm not really a Lil' Raskull fan myself. The real regulator on Grapetree in my eyes is Antonious. Pick up Antonious - Principalities and your Lil' Raskull CD will soon be pickin up dust in comparison. Dont get me wrong. Lil Raskull comes out hard on some of the tracks, but I just can't get into it. I like the second half of the tracks better than the first half cause he sounds more relaxed and focused on the message he's trying to deliver. Some of the songs like "Down South" and "Who's the Greatest" just get old and repetitive very quick though. If I were you, I'd pick up Principalities by Antonious or Christology by The Ambassador. Save your money on this one.
- Lil' Raskull's made his comeback after his not-so-good album "Gory 2 Glory". I own all of his cd's and I have to admit this one's his best. Packed with awesome tunes and cool lyrics , Tha Ras has created one of the best Christian Rap albums I've heard--and I've heard a lot. The best songs are 'Guns In Tha Air', 'Down South', and 'The Day After'. If you're looking for a great Christian Rap album to buy, this would be my recommendation.
- This is probably got to be the best album Ras has dropped to date. Almost every song is on point. Down South gets ya rowdy for Jesus, and Who's the Greatest gets ya thinking. Again though my favorite is the last track. It has to be the singing by the woman. She goes off. A definite good buy.
