- You have to start somewhere, and as far as debut albums go, this one isn't all that bad. However, knowing where Steven Curtis Chapman has gone from here, it is easy to see how short this falls of his potential.
One constant in Chapman's career has been his thoughtful lyrics, and this album showcases them well. At this early stage, his music has some catching up to do. While he does have a catchy contemporary sound, it is far from distinctive.
The first track, Faithful Too, is about two minutes too long. Consider It Done is a very obvious rip-off of Hall & Oates' You Make My Dreams. His Eyes and His Strength Is Perfect shine as examples of Chapman's true ability, both as a songwriter and a vocalist. The rest of the album plods along, much like a baby taking his first steps. We are given a taste of great things to come, but not much more.

3 comments about Gospel Christmas/Silent Night.
- This album is so beautiful, I play it every morning, what up lifting music for the holidays. Just beautiful.
- This is not your ordinary Christmas CD, but it is great if you want to add a little spunk and soul to your Christmas season. "Jesus Is With Me" is one of those "shout 'n' testify" songs. It will have you clapping, stomping- or possibly 'dancing'.
Just great!
- Of all songs it is my favorite. It's "The good news" feel it! It's the Gospel "word". This album is a treasure. When I listen to "In The Upper Room", I remember hours passed to make play this song of enthusiasm. At the time, I understood nearly none of the words, but the rhythm, the sincerity in the voice gave me the true desire to dance, to shout, to sing, to play life instead of supporting it. "The upper room" it is the depth of our conscience, this place where no one tolerates solitude. Always comes this moment at the end of the day after games where one meets only God: it is the upper room in top. "Go Tell It One The Mountain" is the desire to proclaim to all, "Jesus" as the inner self reality, in the darkest recesses of life. It is the desire to say: "I found the peace" to all grief-strickens. "He's My Light" is the incontestable fact, that even all extinct lights, in the bottom of an underground cave, under the giant sea... pictures come to us in our mind, therefore this light that permits to see pictures is omnipresent in each of us. "I Believe" is the starry night that lets perplexed the least believing. And "Amazing Grace" is the complete thrill felt till the tip of hairs. We arrive all at the first Christmas of the new millennium and this woman's voice marvelous of love and faith will make millions of people discover the Gospel "singning" again.

3 comments about Songs from the Penalty Box.
- When I bought Songs From the Penalty Box 2, I was just buying it because it had a reasonable price on it, and I saw a few bands on it that were being talked about. So I was curious to hear what they were like. So, I heard it, and...WOW! It was the greatest Christian hard-core/punk compilation I ever heard! So, I thought, if this is a Volume 2, there's gotta be a Volume 1. So the search was on. I went to every Christian bookstore within 15 miles, and finally, at the last bookstore, the had it in the computer. I ordered it. When I got it, I was blown away, yet again, by another great Christian hard-core/punk compilation! I couldn't believe that there were so many great Christian hard-core and punk artists! If you like Christian music, and you like hard-core or punk music, this is the crossroad between them. You won't be found in he pit of disappointment with this one.
- This cd is great. It incorporates punk, emo, and great christian hardcore. I recamond it ninety to one.
- The first time I picked up this CD was from a friend who had just turned me on to Project 86 and Blindside. I was amazed at the methods these bands were using to get their message across. I figured anything labeled Xtian was automatically gospel-type stuff, but jeez was I wrong. If you're just getting into Xtian metal, hardcore, or punk music (or would like to), pick up this CD. Better yet, if you're into any type of thrash music (especially mainstream), grab this for something harder.
Oh, and for all the god-boys out there who claim this music ain't Xtian, read between the lines. These bands have a clear-cut (well, not always) message on keeping faith and how to not be part of the problem, but the solution. Killer track: Sorrow is a Sage by Strongarm. The closest mainstream comparison I can think of would be Cannibal Corpse, and they don't even come close. Plenty of indeceipherable lyrics, but just enough to sing along too half the time. Lots o' musical stylings too (from punk verse to HC chorus). Definitely one of the most energetic tracks I've listened to in a while.

3 comments about If My People Pray.
- I think this is an excellent CD. I'm buying another as a gift for a friend. Although it's Christian music, I think the beat of most of the tunes is really great. Wonderful lyrics too. It doesn't necessarily make me want to pray at all -- although the fact that this is a tribute to Jesus is a plus. The music is so lively I'm more inclined to dance with some of the songs rather than pray. It's really uplifting. I love it. One of my favorite CDs.... and I listen to ALL kinds of music - even Lennon and Bon Jovi. I ordered another CD from "focus on the family" where I bought this one and it doesn't compare. I really recommend THIS ONE .... let me know if you buy it and don't agree.
- This CD is a compilation of songs about prayer by various artists. Some are more mellow ("In You Alone" by Kim Hill), some more upbeat ("Let Us Pray") All are an encouragement to me as a believer in Jesus Christ -- I listen to it again and again!
- This CD has a wonderful variety of songs and artists that praise the Lord. The songs make you want to get on your knees and pray to Him right as you're listening. :o)

2 comments about 30 Classic Hymns.
- I thought this album was great - very well played and easy to sing to. I needed a "fill-in musician" for church while ours took a much needed vacation. This album worked great for that. The congregation was able to easily sing along.
- I was very disappointed with this instrumental collection of hymns. They all seem to be played by one person on a keyboard, although occasionally the keyboard is used to simulate more than one instrument. The playing is bland and without energy.

5 comments about The Early Years.
- Okay, there are some great songs on this cd, but where is the title track to what many consider Keith's best album. To produce a record /cd and leave this one song off is a shame. Keith deemed "So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt" as being a worthy title track, it's too bad those who compiled this collection did not follow his lead.
- WHY ISN'T CHRISTIAN MUSIC LIKE THIS ANYMORE?? KEITH GREEN'S MUSIC IN INSPIRING AND MOVING. IT IS EVIDENT THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS MOVING IN HIS LIFE. HE QUESTIONS THE CHURCH SYSTEM & MAKES EACH PEOPLE LOOK AT THEIR LIVES THROUGH GOD'S EYES. I WONDER WHERE HIS LIFE WOULDN'T HAVE ENDED UP IF HE WHERE STILL ALIVE.
THANKS KEITH!! CORIE =)
- The best thing about Keith's music is that it points us to the Lord. Keith is so magnetic that it is easy to praise Keith rather than God! But it dishonors both of them to make that error.
I do like this and the other compilations. However, since I have been listening to Keith since before he died (and before I was saved by grace), I cannot help preferring his original albums. For those of us who have been around a while and like to hear the music in the order Keith originally planned it, his old music is available. You can order on-line from lastdaysministries.org, which is still run by Keith's wife, Melody Green.
- I love Keith Green's passionate music for Christ. It's the most Spirit filled music I've ever heard. But let's face it. This sampler barely scratches the surface of Keith's heart. One of the biggest tragedies of the last 7 years is to see Keith Green's albums fall out of print. Sure, you can still get all the songs when you buy the magisterial Ministry Years 1977-1979 and Ministry Years 1980-1982 (except the totally awesome live version of "If You Love the Lord," or the prayerful worship at the end of the remixed "O Lord You're Beautiful"), but there's nothing quite like the original releases. Hearing the songs in the order and way in which Keith wanted them heard. Skip this and get Ministry Years or the originals (if you can find them)
- Keith's message is timeless. Spread the word that Christ lives. Care about the unlost souls on this earth. I remember Keith Green's ministry when he was alive. The gospel is free.
