1. This is a collection of songs recorded during the Cathedrals' most popular years. Unlike later compilations released by Homeland Records, these are the real masters, not poor copies. As a result, the quality is MUCH clearer than current releases. It's a shame that Benson/Provident won't release these old classics again.

   As for the song selection, hits like "Somebody Touched Me," "Who Can Do Anything," "Can He, Could He, Would He," and "For What Earthly Reason" abound, as well as some lesser-known album cuts. A nice collection for fans of the Funderburk/Trammell years.




2. Too bad one cannot hear a little of some of the songs. Especially good is "Movin Up To Glory Land" If you like harmonious, spiritual, singing you will love "The Cathedrals". It amazes me that voices and music can blend together so well. It makes you feel privileged to hear such excellent talent musically and vocally.

1. The best. This and Sand's first Christmas album--The Gift Goes On--are two of the greatest Christmas albums of all time. As there are many Sandi Christmas compilations now on the market, I suggest either this or Gift. Yuletide Joy and Voice of Christmas are fine compared to other artists but not compared to her previous recordings.



2. After hearing many renditions of this most popular and wonderful song,this rendition is truly THE BEST YET!
   David T.Clydesdale's choice of harmonies is exquisite and Sandi Patty balances Clydesdale like no other singer.It's an ethereal and most powerful projection and I can't praise it enough.
   As yet,I have NOT encountered an arrangement like Clydesdale's and Sandi's delivery that can come anywhere as close as this.
   
   I implore you to seek out this recording,you will not be disappointed,you will truly be uplifted in spirit with the sincerity and real musical expertise that's so evident here.
   Also try seeking out Sandi's rendition of The Star Spangled Banner,it's awesome and so poignant.
   As a professional musician/pianist from the UK,it's so wonderful to hear such musicality expolited to the full and I warmly recommend this rendition above ANYTHING so far.



3. Anyone who loves Christmas music (as well as spectacular singing) should own this recording. It is thrilling and beautiful from beginning to end with several transcendent moments such as "Star Of Bethlehem" and "Oh Holy Night". The sincerity of sentiment and emotion that ring through the magnificent voice and superb production and arrangement makes for an unbeatable musical and spiritual achievement. This is in a class with Jessye Norman's supreme "Christmastide" and that's saying a lot.



4. This is a partial repackaging of Sandi's Hallmark Christmas album from 1992 (It contains none of her material for the 1996 Hallmark album). It contains new material and the highlight is the closing "Star of Bethlehem" which is a rare song of beauty and majesty. The performance of "My Favorite Things" seems a little odd, but on Sandi's 1996 Christmas TV special, her daughter Anna danced to the recording, and it all worked beautifully. The performances by the London Symphony Orchestra give Sandi the perfect backup for the mystery and joy of the holiday season. A vivid second Christmas album after 1983's "The Gift Goes On." We can pray for a third Christmas album. Yuletide Joy

1. I remember going to see Steven Curtis Chapman at small concerts back when he first started. Back then I was impressed with his dedication to ministry and his sincerity. Today when I hear him in interviews or listen to new lyrics, I am still impressed with those same qualities. His songs have improved, as one would hope, but every lyric he writes has God's fingerprint on it.

1. As a huge Phillips, Craig & Dean fan, I own all their albums, and this has got to be the second best (sorry, I liked LIFELINE a whole lot better) they have. Cut in what I have found to be the golden age of Christian Music, they guys have great harmony, inspiring lyrics and a good dash of fun just to round things out. Get this CD; you'll be glad you did.



2. I listen to this CD all the time! It is great and I sing along! The words to the songs are so inspirational, God really speaks through these men! I hope to see them when they come to San Antonio! A must hear!!!



3. For the most part this album is really good, including "Crucified with Christ," but one has to listen when it comes to "Living it Up."



4. Three good singers, who just happen to write songs, who just happen to be ministers, and just happen to love God. Crisp harmonies in Biblically sound lyrics. "Crucified With Christ" is a classic. "Mercy Came Running" is very inspiring.



5. This CD is much better than their where strength begins CD. I love the upbeat Mercy Came Running and Crucified with Christ that cuts straight to the heart. I would recommend this CD to everyone that loves great music.

2 comments about Jazz Combo Hymns: Sweet Hour of Prayer.

1. This CD is a mixture of what Kenny G (and most smooth jazz stations) call jazz and perhaps a few elements of traditional small combo cool jazz.

   But the CD lacks character. You can use it for a cocktail party, elevator music or for going to sleep.

   It is bland.




2. We played this at our concert and was booed off the stage. They said God is dead after listening to these selections. One band member attempted suicide after the performance seeing as how God certainly couldn't exist after playing this music.

1. The one entitled "The Steve Camp Collection" (ASIN B000002UEM) contains 2 CDs at a price roughly half the cost used of this one. The only song on this one that's NOT on the double disc set is "Forgive Me, Forgive You". So unless that's your absolute favourite Camp tune ever, buying this is needless.



2. Steve Camp came to my door tonight and I was in my robe to return my Rolland stage piano that he borrowed from me for the weekend. He is really cool and even signed my keyboard. Wow.



3. Every person needs to listen to the powerful messages behind Steve Camp's songs-you can't help but be moved!

1. I believe that every, single one of the songs has a special "praise" anointing on it. Every time I play this, I praise and glorify the Lord God Almighty!
   
   All of the songs were performed live and yet, it is sounds as good as a studio recording.
   
   Trust me, you will fully enjoy this purchase!



2. An awesome, spirit-filled CD with music that praises and glorifies our Lord Jesus Christ! I am moved to tears and filled with joy when listening to this inspiring music!

4. I'm not exaggerating when I say that God used this CD to turn my heart around. I was going through some difficult times a couple of years ago, when some good friends sent me this music. It sat on a shelf for a long time, but then one day I started listening to it. From the first notes of the first song, I was hooked! Now I listen to it almost every day, usually when I am getting ready for work in the mornings, it really gets me going! It's impossible to be depressed while listening to it. This music helped heal my wounded soul and turned my eyes back to Jesus, and restored my joy in worshiping God. I've bought several copies for friends, I wish I could afford to buy a copy for everyone I know. Buy this CD! You won't regret it.



5. This is the MOST wonderful uplifting music I have ever heard !! Whenever I am down ~ this lifts me up and I can feel the spirit of the Lord !! AMEN !!

1. If you're looking for something different from the usual christian music, this is for you. A great compilation of artest of the perriod that rocked harder than a lot of nonchristian bands that survive today. Be sure to check out "Angel." That song is amoung my favorites on the disc.



2. There are a few bad songs but most of the CD is great. Bands like the tones, the dingees, not for the crowd, and value pac make this album great. Check out 'gain back lost youth' by not for the crowd and 'calm down' by the dingees. Those are the best ska songs ever.



3. This cd is awesome. When I saw that it had the Supertones and the Dingees, i knew i had to have it. It's AWESOME! I love it! My favorite songs are In Between by the Supertones, Bullet Proof by the Dingees, and The Girl From Rosewood Lane by Joy Electric. There were sooooo many great bands on here that i have never heard of like Not For The Crowd and some others. You won't regret this buy.



4. I really loved this CD; it is a great way to find out about new groups that you may never have heard of... I now love Project86 and want to get their CD for myself and for a friend. It is SO AWESOME!



5. This CD is utterly amazing. I honestly think that keeping all the same bands, the only thing that could've made it any better is if they would've used the Bon Voyage song "Kiss my Lips" instead of "West Coast Friendship"
