5 comments about You Shine.

  1. I've read many reviews for this album, and nobody's touched the two top tracks on it--the title song "You Shine," and the anthemic "Hope of the Nations." That one knocked my socks off the first time I heard it, which was the first time I attended the church I now go to most Sundays. Our music director gave me Doerksen's second album, "To-Day," but I'm going to buy this one. Both "Hope of th Nations," and "You SHine," are highly singable songs with a terrific message. Doerksen's voice is endlessly listenable, like many others in the genre--Michael W. Smith, Don Mowen, Paul Baloche. But there's room for plenty to sing this style in this in-your-face world full of '"music makers" whose music ought to be reserved for deaf people.

  2. Maybe it's because of his low-key personality that you don't hear Brian Doerksen's name on every gospel corner, but on this CD (and on his new one "Today") Brian strikes me as a top-class performer with a very warm hart for his Lord. One of the top songs i find Psalm 13, which Brian sings with Daphne Rademakers. I'm sure David would have loved the music around his old prayer-song. Very nice.

  3. Biran Doerksen is one of the foremost worship music writers of our day. He is honest, expressive and right on the money for putting words to music that allow us to worship God in whatever place we might find ourselves in. There is some classic material from his days at Vineyard (sorry to see him go!) and some new material that is just right there as far as meeting the needs of churhces who seek to use the contemporary style with with to worship. This is definetly a must-have for any worship leader and you will not be dissappointed if you are seeking something to help you worship at home or in the car.

While I would concur with another reviewer on the set possibly being a bit over-arranged, it does evoke a worshipful response and the songs are just great for congregational worship settings even without the excellent musicians that are obviously on this CD.

  4. This CD is made for personal listening.

Even though this is largely a solo-sounding effort,
there is no ego here. The entire album is worship
    centric.

Faithful One is my favourite song on this album.

I highly recommend requesting this song on a
Christian music station...I thought it was worth
the price of the entire album alone.

Again, the lack of any ego on the part of the artist
was striking. He sings as if his audience is in Heaven,
as opposed to sitting in front of him. I think
that is why the album works on a personal level.

If you're a worship leader, the congregation might have
difficulty singing along, but when you're driving around
in your car, or sitting alone on a sofa, it's pretty near
    perfect, in my humble opinion.

  5. Brian Doerksen has put out a lot a great worship music over the years with the Vineyard Music Group. He continues that with his first release for Integrity's Hosanna series. New offerings such as the title song, "Psalm 13 (How Long O Lord)", and "With All My Affection" are mixed among older favorites such as "I Lift My Eyes Up" and "Come, Now Is the Time to Worship" (the latter of which is burdened with an additional verse, which, in my opinion, does not improve the song). Doerksen's music gets the "Hosanna" treatment, by which I mean much of the music is over-arranged, which is not a problem for listening but takes a little work to make it usable in congregational settings. There is too much "worship leader solos on the verse, congregation joins in on the chorus" stuff which, to me, has plagued Hosanna recordings in recent years. Worship music in the congregation is not meant to primarily be a soloists showcase. Nevertheless, the material is strong enough to overcome these shortcomings (and I come from the viewpoint of a worship leader) and rate 4 stars.

  4. Carman is a wonderful story teller. Many of the songs will draw you into the high energy stories. Lazarus is the best cut and really set his career off. On a personal note I worked with Carman at CBS Records, and he is a truly great person and a sincere christian.

  1. This is a collection of songs recorded during the Cathedrals' most popular years. Unlike later compilations released by Homeland Records, these are the real masters, not poor copies. As a result, the quality is MUCH clearer than current releases. It's a shame that Benson/Provident won't release these old classics again.

As for the song selection, hits like "Somebody Touched Me," "Who Can Do Anything," "Can He, Could He, Would He," and "For What Earthly Reason" abound, as well as some lesser-known album cuts. A nice collection for fans of the Funderburk/Trammell years.

  2. Too bad one cannot hear a little of some of the songs. Especially good is "Movin Up To Glory Land" If you like harmonious, spiritual, singing you will love "The Cathedrals". It amazes me that voices and music can blend together so well. It makes you feel privileged to hear such excellent talent musically and vocally.

  1. Wonderful cd that is part of a 4 part set "Music To Paint By". Electric Blue has a jazz feel to it, I'm continually amazed by Mr. Keaggy's guitar playing! This set is great for listening to at work. Also check out Keaggy's latest "Premium Jams" cd. wwww.philkeaggy.com

  2. I have not heard the CD. Or have I. I played many gigs with EB as the drummer in pollen. Blue was our "big brother" band. We looked up to 'em. Still do. If their album is as good as I remember them then your in for a helluva ride. Rock on boys. Buy this damn CD! You won't regret it...

  1. Jonathan Pierce is one of the BEST singers I have evr heard! I have had all of his albumns and Loved them. I was a collector a few years ago. I had all of Steven Curtis, Micheal W. Smiths and my southern Collection was The Gathiers. Also Ken Hollaway for my country music and Dallas Holm for some easy listening and the list goes on. I really loved Jonathans Cds. I followed him as far back as The Imperials. He went by a different surname but when I heard his voice with the Gathiers I knew it had to be Him. God as blessed this young man with a voice for HIm. I had all of these up until a few years ago because I was ministering in Canada and God called me to the Latino Countries. In order to raise support I sold all I had including my Music collection. The collection went to a christian guiy who operates a e-bay business. He gave me $4.00 for each CD. It gave me quite a start for my support. I hope to get Jonathan's CD again soon...

  2. ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU LOVE, GIVER OF THE GIFT, WE LIVE, WE BOW, I TURN TO YOU, SHOULD'VE BEEN LOVING YOU, EXCELLENT SONGS COMING FROM THE HEART OF JONATHAN PIERCE. THIS MAN HAS TO BE ANOINTED FROM ON HIGH. I TURN TO YOU IS FROM DIANE WARREN BUT JONATHAN PIERCE'S DELIVERY AND SOULFULNESS HAS THIS SONG UP THERE WITH THE OTHERS. ALL THE OTHER SONGS ON THE ALBUM ARE EXCELLENT TO; AUDIENCE OF ONE, YOUR PLACE IN THE SUN AND THE OTHER TWO SEND GREAT MESSAGES FOR ALL OF IS THE LIVE BY. THE VOICE AND TALENTS OF JONATHAN PIERCE SHOULD MAKE HIM A MULTIPLE DOVE AWARDS WINNER. I CAN'T BELEIVE THE GMA CAN'T GET BEYOND THE POLITICS AND RECOGNIZE THE TALENTS OF THESE YOUNG ARTIST INSTEAD OF MEDIOCRE PROJECTS BY THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN A STAPLE FOR 15 TO 35 YEARS. THANK YOU, JONATHAN PIERCE FOR NEW, WONDERFUL AND GREAT PROJECTS, WITH GREAT MUSIC AND OBVIOUS TALENT.

  3. JONATHAN PIERCE SAYS IT ALL THROUGH THE LYRICS AND MUSIC. HIS SONGS THAT HE WRITES MAKE ME FEEL LIKE HE HAS BEEN ANNOINTED FROM ON HIGH. HIS VOICE ON THIS ALBUM TELLS THE EMOTION, TRUTH AND SOUL. THIS ALBUM AND JONATHAN PIERCE I BELIEVE, IS A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE TO LOVE GOD AND TO REMEMBER THAT HE LOVES US NO MATTER. JUST BELIEVE, WALK, TALK, AND PRAY TO CHRIST AND HE WILL BE THERE WITH US. THE WHOLE ALBUM MINISTERS TO ME. GIVER OF THE GIFT, AN AUDIENCE OF ONE, ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU LOVE, WE LIVE ARE INCREDIBLE SONGS. THE OTHER 6 ARE WONDERFUL ALSO. I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE GMA AND DOVE AWARDS DONT'T RECOGNIZE THIS YOUNG MANS TALENTS. I PRAY THE LORD WILL KEEP YOU SFE AS YOU TRAVEL AND GOD BLESS YOU WITH THE MESSAGE THAT YOU ARE GIVING TO US. YOUR FRIEND AND FAN IN CHRIST, HAROLD

  4. Jonathan Pierce has achieved what few in the Christian music field have done. He rivals the best pop artists in lyrics and melodies. With "Sanctuary" he proves that he is of Steven Curtis Chapman caliber. It is clear that his eyes are on the Lord and what his will is for us in this life. There is no "fence riding" on this CD. This is not crossover music. This is flat out, God-inspired music. I am so impressed with the pouring of out of loyalty to the Lord in "An Audience of One." This music inspires me to be a better Christian every time I hear it. I loaned it to a friend. When I got it back and played it, I was blown away all over again. I am blessed to have an opportunity to have insight into Jonathan Pierce's relationship with Christ. I am so glad God gave him the gift of sharing this with us.

  5. This man has one of the most amazing and expressive voices you will ever hear. I enjoy many types of music-from alternative bands to opera to pop to musical theatre, and no one can match Jonathan's unique blend of emotion, passion and pure vocal ability. "Sanctuary" is his third solo effort and is one of the best albums I have ever heard. This album has basically one theme - there is always hope in God. The songs will encourage and uplift (and you may even find yourself dancing along with it!). Jonathan has a beautiful way of presenting the gospel through music that cannot be found anywhere else. Most of the songs fall into the category of easy-to-listen-to pop, with a litle flavoring of Sunday Morning Church (WE BOW) and R&B (I TURN TO YOU). This is "real music." Buy it and let your heart be encouraged!

1 comments about Music to Paint By: Splash.

  1. This is my favorite instrumental since "Beyond Nature". I read that Phil was originally going to use the music from this album for a movie soundtrack, and so accordingly this album has a strong unity to it.

A wide variety of emotions are expressed here. "Foreshadow" and "Floating On Ice" have a mystical feel to them, "Grand Old Man" a folk charm, and "The Apprentice" a reflective happiness. Sadness may be missing, as is true on many Keaggy albums, but I surmise that it true because he intentionally wishes to express the spiritual joy in his life. (He is certianly capable of creating it--just listen to "The Survivor" once.)

Though the other "Music to Paint By" series are weaker than this one, all four definitely stand out, especially this one. It could have been called "Music to Pray By" or "Music to Think By". An impressive work.

  1. This is a very good C.D., when I bought it, it introduced me to my new 2nd fav. band: Squad Five-o. It is a really good, Christian, Punk and EMO style music, a great sampler, for punk fans, at a great price. One thing that I would rather not have on this album is that, Blindside and Frodus really stand out, they sound different than the rest of the album

  2. This a a great CD to buy to preview a bunch of awesome christian punk bands.

5 comments about Healing.

  1. Really great songs of worship inspired and anointed by the Holy Spirit and Pastor Benny is well known to be a great healer by the power of God the Holy Spirit. If you can't attend his crusades like me here in a far province in the Phils, you can always listen to this audio CD. Just the same, the same Spirit can touch you and make you whole. The anointing of the Holy Spirit upon Pastor Benny takes effect through the listening of this audio CD and thus the Spirit can heal and make you whole through the songs here in this CD. The same Spirit that empowers and anoints, He who tests can bring healing and He who baptizes can make you whole. The power of God the Holy Spirit can create miracles! This audio CD is worth listening to, but mine isn't with me. May God bless you and make you whole.

  2. Prior to attending the Azusa Centennial, I admit I was a bit skeptical about Brother Hinn's healing ministry. However, the anointing was so heavy in the room, that I was convinced in a matter of 5 minutes of the worship service just how incredibly anointed his ministry is! Praise God. I purchased this cd after I got home because I knew it would be wonderful. It is, though I wish some of the songs had been in a different order, but its definitely excellent and anointed.

  3. Great album, very Spirit-led. I sang this song while being baptised.

This man is unfairly persecuted by Pharisaical Christians, but meanwhile trillions of Asians are becoming Christians.

  4. "For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect."

  5. I have this cd for a couple of years and I listen to it in my car and during morning worship. Some of the songs bring tears to my eyes and some get me up jumping for joy! A wonderful selection of hymns. Thank you Benny Hinn for a spectacular cd.

5 comments about Thank You.

  1. Thank You is one of the most enduring Christian albums for me. For a while I turned away from God, but the song Thank You kept popping into my head. I love this album.

  2. The "Thank You", "Sheperd Boy", and "Here Comes A Miracle" songs contain messages the church, even today, must listen to. I don't get tired of listening to this album.

  3. one of the best christian cd's i have ever heard. with standout tracks including the title, sheapard boy, and someone stood up for steven, this cd is a great addition to any collection.

  4. This was my second cd I bought of his and I liked it about as much as Honor and Glory. Everyone has probably already heard Thank You before and it is one of the best songs on this cd, but I personally love the last song we are his heart the best. the whole cd is well worth buying for this one song alone--just one listen to it is bound to make you cry--but the rest of the songs are solid too. Plus I like the fact that it's a christian album that actually sounds like one. You can most definitely tell how much Ray loves God and it shines through almost perfectly on this album.

  5. Ray sang this in our church a few weeks ago & brought me to tears! It is such an incredible song & I am going to write letters to past Christian mentors in my life thanking them for Giving to the Lord & touching my life.

4 comments about Hope.

  1. This CD has inspired me as a person. After I heard the song Savior, I thought how many people really need a Savior, my Savior. There is not one song on this album that does not lift you up and make you feel like you can win the world for Christ. I really wasn't a big Michael English fan until I heard one of my friends sing Savior. Then I got this CD, and now he is one of my favorite artist I have ever heard. I would highly suggest you consider this album to be on the top of you list.

  2. Michael English has a great voice. His music is very up-lifting. I just wished other Christian artists could produce the great style of Michael.

  3. How do you top a debut album with songs such as "In Christ Alone," and "Mary, Did you Know?" You release "Hope" and give more of the same. Mike has many great songs on this album. I especially like "Holding Out Hope to You." Michael shows his versatility with his gospel sound on "A Place called Hope." Michael has always been one of my favorite christian singers. If you love great christian music, then get this classic album. Standout cuts; Holding Out Hope To You, There Is a Love, A Place Called Hope.

  4. Though not a Michael English follower, after having heard someone sing "Holding Out Hope to You" off of this album, I knew I had to get it. Two years later, I finally found it. Listening to it is an incredible thing. Michael's voice comes across so emotional, not to mention extremely easy to listen to. All of the songs on Hope are great; check it out lest you miss a good album!
