  1. Chris Tomlin and group have once again provided listeners with another Holy Spirit inspired collection of praise and worship tunes. With "God of this city", Tomlin has challenged believers across the world to go out into there local areas and take back what the enemy has stolen and to claim their cities for the Glory of God Almighty! "I will Rise" is a beautiful work of art that depicts, with awesome clarity, the majesty the Glory and the Power that will be seen at the return of the Messiah---Jesus Christ!!

  2. This is a great CD. This is one of those rare CD's that you really like just about every song on it. The only song I didn't care for was "Love" because I don't care for the childrens choir, although, the message was good.

  3. Chris Tomlin's Hello Love is a great piece of music collectivley and a wonderful worship tool. The lyrics are great and wonderfully inspirational - the instrumentals are moving and very uplifting

  4. I love this CD. It creates an environment for worship and praise. Both music and lyrics are great.

  5. Another one in a long history of great worship by Chris. This is a must have CD.

5 comments about Empty and Beautiful.

  1. I wasn't familiar with Matt Maher until his release of the song "Empty and Beautiful". I really liked the song and thought I would take a chance on purchasing the CD. The music is wonderfully uplifting and inspiring. Well worth spending a few extra dollars to have all of the music vs paying for one song. If you like Christian music, you will enjoy this CD.

  2. This is a very well done album. I have been a fan of Matt Maher for 2 years and I think he is one of the best and least known Christian writer and preformer. His music is fresh and brings you into a place of praise and worship. After listing to it a few time you will find yourself singing along. If you are a fan of Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall or Matt Redman this album should be part of your collection.

  3. Awesome, upbeat, Catholic rock music. The kids and I are jammin on the way to baseball practice each night to Matt Maher. It's great when you can find music to please everyone and even better when Daddy is on board with the music!

  4. Pretty good, but not his best work. I have to admit the new stuff is up to par with his previous work, but the older songs he included have been changed to be more "Protestant". Don't sell out, Matt! You are the best Catholic artist there is! I was disappointed about that, but overall, I would recommend it, especially for someone who has never owned a CD by Matt Maher.

  5. Matt Maher is my favorite Catholic artist out there. His songs are inspirational and very well written and preformed. The songs on this new CD are great and i recommend this, along with his other three CD's to everyone. This is a must buy if you want to start listening to music with a better message, or are a fan of Catholic/Christian music already. I've also met Matt, and hes just an all around nice guy, which made me want this CD even more!

  1. What a joy to worship and even better with the powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies from the new Passion CD. I listen to it once a week on my way to work and its a great way to start up an awesome day!
Praise the Lord for the music that flows from His hands through His people.
    Have a blessed day y'all!

  2. I've been a big fan of the Passion conference collections for the past 10 years, especially the last few which have included the newest live versions of future hits by Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman and Charlie Hall.

Passion: God of This City is another good Passion collection. God of This City by Chris Tomlin is one of the highlights and I love the addition of Fee and We Shine to the conference. My other favorites are Hosanna sung by Christy Nockels, The Glory Of It All by David Crowder and my favorite song is Shine by Matt Redman based on Philippians 2:14-16, which seems to be the theme of this album.

  3. Ditto the other reviews that recommend this album. One thing to say--Sing Sing Sing by Chris Tomlin reminds me of being at his concert (in San Diego) Same feel, but you get it everyday in the car! I don't love every song, but they all give me things to think about.

  4. Great CD....I just went to their regional conference in D.C. and all the songs that were played at the conference sounded just like the cd. AMAZING!!

  5. With a collection of songs that are as memorable as the events where they were recorded, God of This City is, without a doubt, the best album Passion/sixsteps has put out thus far.

Highlighting some of the best moments of both Passion'07 in Atlanta (with over 23,000 university students) and the USA regional events in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and soon, Dallas, DC, and Atlanta, the album features 6 new tracks from sixsteps' artist-worshipers, as well songs that will be familiar to those who follow the Passion movement closely.

Featuring the talents of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder* Band, Charlie Hall, and Matt Redman, God of This City is moving from start to finish. Naturally, the title track serves as one of the more captivating anthems on the album. Written by an incredible, Belfast-based group called Bluetree, and led by Chris Tomlin, with a chorus that is at least as memorable the Passion events themselves, the very heartbeat of God pours out of the lyrics of this song that will no doubt serve as a banner over the Passion movement - and all those it reaches - in the days, and even years, to come.

In all, God of This City is an incredible collection, a must-have for anyone who desires to draw near to the heart of God through music.

  1. im not going to do a in depth review, all im going to say is its a classic you must own.

  2. Jars of Clay hit the music scene at a time in my life when I had graduated from college and I loved the alternative rock bands Collective Soul, Toad The Wet Sprocket and Weezer (I still do) but I didn't know Jesus. I grew up thinking being faithful was Jesus+church, works, etc. The song Flood came out on the radio and MTV and I needed to hear more by this new band, similar to how I felt about The Fray's debut album in 2005.

The first few seconds of Liquid had me hooked on Jars of Clay (and ultimately Jesus) forever. The Gregorian Chant, the driving beat and then the completely spiritual lyrics floored me and made me want to know Jesus as did my other favorite songs Love Song For A Savior, which really is my story as I longed to fall in love with Jesus, and Worlds Apart, an all-time classic which just wrecks you if you really pray along with the song.

Ultimately this is one of the all-time best albums in the history of Christian music and it led me to seek Christ for which I'm eternally grateful.

  3. This is one of the best acoustic albumns ever! Even after 13 years I still love listening to these songs, and they don't feel outdated at all. If you have never heard this albumn I suggest you get a hold of it and have a listen because you are in for a real treat. Full of clever, meaningful lyrics, interesting melodies, with strings used extensively for delightful countermelodies. You won't be let down by this one!

  4. Saw them in concert with my daughter. Recognized "Flood". My daughter asked for the cd for X-Mas. We all love it!

  5. The debut by Jars of Clay is an album that seems to get better the more one listens to it.

When I first got it, I really liked a couple of the songs. As I began listening to it more, I started liking more and more of them. It is really a CD packed with very good songs. Some notable standouts include the following: Flood, Liquid, Sinking, Love Song For a Savior, and Like A Child.

This CD has really become a classic. I consider it a must have for any fan of Christian rock.

5 comments about The Silver Cord.

  1. The Classic Crime delivers everything expected and more on their new album The Silver Cord. It's a worthy sequel to Albatross, crushing in every way the dreaded "Sophomore Slump." Although it starts off a little slow for me, nearly every song on the album has gotten more than 5 repeats on my ipod in the last 24 hours before I wrote this review. Here's a rating and explanation for each song...

    The End - 7/10

Not particularly catchy or memorable, but it starts slow-paced and ends with a proper introduction to the next song on the CD. Since I don't think it was intended to be an actual song on the CD but more of an intro, I think it does the job very well.

    Just A Man - 9/10

Just A Man starts off with a catchy guitar intro that carries into the song. Its lyrics are rather powerful, making an attentive listener think. On top of all of that, it is truly an enjoyable song to listen to.

    Gravedigging - 10/10

Truly a masterpiece. I enjoy every second of this song, from cowbell to fading applause, the verse and chorus both ring perfectly together. The guitar solo near the middle of the song is entirely appropriate and, personally, pumps me up quite a bit.

The Way That You Are - 8/10

This song is primarily about peer pressure--about not buckling under criticism. It is a cliche topic, but it is written well and shouldn't be underestimated.

    5805 - 8/10

This is a song about friendship and nostalgia. The verse is written in a waltz pattern that doesn't fit very well for me, but when Matt gets into the bridge and chorus, the song opens up decently.

Salt in the Snow - 10/10

A brilliant song that captures the listener both lyrically and melodically. The song is 5 minutes of glory that I don't think can be matched on another song. The opening verse is slow and easy to listen to, then it moves into a louder chorus that uses a nice analogy of salt in the snow to get the point across to the listener. My favorite song on the CD.

    Abracadavers - 9/10

This song speaks to people with pride issues:

    We're all the same,
Made of hair and bones and water and blood cells
    And we're all to blame,
For spending way too much time on ourselves

Its point is simple and common, but again, Classic Crime gives convictions to the listener. This is one of the hardest rock songs on the album, and Matt's voice fits surprisingly well. Definitely a song that should be listened to again and again.

    R&R - 6/10

Maybe it's just me, but this song never really reached me in a way that kept me coming back for more. It's rather dull, in my opinion, and doesn't really make me feel any different after the song is over. An average song.

    God and Drugs - 10/10

This song starts off very slow, but it builds closer and closer to the ultimate point in a tempo-increasing pattern. The song sings about drugs and the negative effect they have on people. A good message and good melody, combined with amazing music makes for a perfect score and constant repeat.

    Medisin - 9/10

This song opens with a creepy guitar solo that nearly gives me chills. Not quite sure why it does, but it does its job. The chorus is a good listen and enough to make me return several times.

    The Ascent - 8/10

This song is purely instrumental and only about 110 seconds long. It's a surprising break in the last part of the album that lets the reader sort of reflect on everything he's heard. It serves as a precursor to Sing.

    Sing - 9/10 (10/10)

This song doesn't disappoint; in fact, it's one of my favorite songs on the album. The chorus and verse are truly enjoyable, but the song loses a point because of the computer-altered voice in the middle that I cannot just stand. Consider it a 10 out of 10 if that doesn't really bother you,

    Everything - 8/10

Not much to say here. It's just a love song that is played in classic Classic Crime style (no pun intended).

Closer Than We Think - 10/10

An amazing song that captures living life to the fullest in a catchy, easy-listening way. This is one of the best songs on the CD behind Salt in the Snow. It is at its best if you listen to the entire album before it.

    The Beginning (A Simple Seed) - 10/10

This is the perfect song to end the album. It speaks about the band's desire to return home to Seattle. This is one of my favorite lines:

"If a simple seed gets just what it needs,
Then a redwood tree can grow
Up to a hundred feet for the world to see,
And endure the sleet and the snow.
But if my whole life was wrapped and priced,
I wonder what the tag would show.
'Cause every time I'm close to the holy ghost,
I always seem to let her go."

After listening to this song, the listener should feel like the band just performed an entire album and is saying goodbye to them. Overall, this is the perfect end to a nearly flawless album.

    Average: 8.9

Overall, the Classic Crime does not disappoint in any way shape or form without the listening being extremely picky. The Classic Crime has delivered and I think will continue to deliver through the years. I have high hopes for them.

  2. What a great release! In a sea of "alright" 2008 releases, "The Silver Cord" stands up there with Underoath's newest and This Beautiful Republic's new "Perspectives." With catchy songs, an epic length and awesome album art, you simply can't go wrong.

If you like Emery, Daughtry or This Beautiful Republic... you will love "The Classic Crime."

  3. The sounds of The Classic Crime are like nothing I have ever heard before and the full throttle drive of their music and rock sound is absolutely something i can't get enough of.

The Silver Cord will tear your heart out and insert wisdom and a sobered up look at life.

    Worth every penny.

  4. This cd is simply the best cd released this year. You talk about a musical effort by an up and coming band that has it all in glorious heights: lyrics, singing, melodies and rollicking guitars. No band this year has or can top this effort by The Classic Crime.

While current bands struggle to write one or two good songs for their cds and aim for the ITunes download mother load for one of the songs. The Classic Crime hit the mother load on this cd. All 15 songs are good and add to the texture and the tone of the cd. Each song builds onto the next song until you hit the pinnacle with the last song "The Beginning". This song is the best final track that a band has laid down in a long, long time.

If there was ever a band and a cd that deserves to explode into the mainstream, it is this band and its latest "The Silver Cord" What a refreshing listening in the current muck that is music today. Buy the cd to support a band that deserves more notice and success than many of the bands that have achieved a greater level of success. The Classic Crime deserves more publicity than it is getting.

  5. This album is musically and lyrically very strong and Matt's consistently clean and melodic vocals are enhanced by the rest of the band beautifully. These guys have a message for everyone and that is one of hope. As they did with Albatross, there's a great mix of driving rock and the slower paced anthems. Don't miss out on this one.

I love it! I recommend it!

  1. With talent beyond their years, fun faith-filled lyrics, spunk and high "NRG", thirteen year olds Caroline Williams and Carolyne Meyers and fifteen year old Jordan Yates shine as Pure NRG in their sophomore album "Here We Go Again". The title is quite appropriate because of the fact that the trio shows the same talent and dedication as in their self-titled debut album only enhanced with further experience. This isn't just a "teeny-bopper" group, behind their poppy sound and lyrics, their belief of God sure shines through and makes them stand out and become a favorite of parents for their kids to listen to. Good, clean fun, is just what parents want for their kids and what their kids truly need. Personally, I love music that has substance but, is still clean and I'm in my mid-teens. I'm a Christian too naturally making Pure NRG's "Here We Go Again" one of my happiest listening expierences.

  2. I bought this CD for my girls who love music. Was tired of Hannah Montanna so thought I'd pick this up. It's great positive lyrics and upbeat songs are a hit with our whole family. BFF is one of the girls favorites. We've given it as gifts to tween friends and its a hit!

  3. This is their secong album and again they bring it!They are not world known yet but they are getting their. This to me was better than the first cause it brought more.Best songs off there was"Here we go again","Like"
"Call on Jesus" and many more. This is perfect for younger kids and older kids because it brings the message to anyone and tells them to serve God and not the world and to get your life on the right track before its too late.My sister love this when I bought it for her birthday and u should buy it,trust me,you will not be disappointed!

  4. I think these kids do a great job of creating fun, upbeat, easy to listen to music. I highly recommend this CD.

  5. pureNRG's energy invites you to participate--sing along and move to the beat of each and every song. Most of the songs make you feel alive and happy as well as make you think. Songs like Like and BFF are contemporary topics for tweeners, but other songs are definitely for all ages. It is a great tween and family DVD with great words and music. Memorize the words; they are good for living a good life! So Here We Go, Again is the continuation of something worthwhile, wholesome, and a whole lot of fun.

5 comments about Lead Me On (20th Anniversary Edition) (2 CDs).

  1. The Lead me on Anniversary Edt. is a great CD..especially the BONUS CD with the LIVE Tracks from the 1989 Tour and the Accoustic recordings are a blast to listen.
I hope Amy will do many many new songs..she has such an heart-warming voice, the lyrics are so real, positive and it was fun listening to her in the 80's in the 90's and also in 2008.

  2. I remember purchasing my original copy of Lead Me On 20 years ago! This special edition sounds great and I love the acoustic versions of some of the classic recordings from this CD. Any Amy fan must have this anniversary edition in their collection!

  3. You have to understand that Amy Grant's musical style, prior to 'Lead Me On' were VERY upbeat, sweet, contemporary christian. She was, after all, a teen-aged evangelical. This album, however, marked a change. Now, we hear about her struggle... her history... her maturing faith. There are even some selections where she DOESN'T mention God! A very honest, lean album full of heart-felt, more mature songs. Great album.

  4. As a long time Amy fan (yeah I remember her on vinyl)I can say this is definitely an essential addition to any Amy collection. I cannot believe it's been 20 years, can any of you? I love disc two...a very intimate listen. I haven't heard those live recordings since the Lead Me On tour, and what a FUN tour that was. Amy-keep on making music...you are still an important singer/songwriter and we all would like to keep listening to what is on your heart and mind. Beautiful recordings. A MUST have!

  5. As a huge Amy Grant fan, I am so excited this came out. The remaster on the tracks is amazing. The bonus disk has some interviews, as well as live concert tracks. Lead Me On is probably my favorite Amy CD of all time. My only complaint- the remakes of a few songs on the bonus track. They are acoustic sets, and I feel like they changed the songs too much. I wish they had kept them similar to the originals. This is a CD you HAVE to own if you are an Amy fan!

  1. ONE OF THE BEST CHRISTIAN ARTIST OF OUR TIME! UPLIFTING & INSPIRING ALBUM.
HEALING OF HEART & SOUL A MUST FOR TODAYS CHRISTIAN. MY FAMILY FOUND MERCY ME ON THEIR FIRST ALBUM AFTER MY HUSBAND HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY. WE TRULEY BELIEVE THAT GOD HEALED HIM & HAD A AWESOME RECOVERY THRU THE POWER OF MERCY ME'S MUSIC. ALL TIME OUTSTANDING PRAISE & WORSHIP MUSIC OF THE DECADE!!!!

  2. Another wonderful cd for this group. Songs from the heart that lead you straight to God.

  3. The more I hear the more I want to hear of MercyMe, they lift my spirits and light my way home!

  4. I am giving this one 5 stars soley because Everything Impossible is the best song I have heard in so long. I can't stop listening to it. Wow. This could have been a huge hit, in my opinion. It's better than anything on the radio today. It puts me in mind, sort of, of Maroon 5. Elsewhere, Homesick will hit home with anyone who have lost a loved one. This is one gorgeous song. A Million Miles Away another fave, almost as good as Everything Impossible. Never Alone, Where You Lead Me, and Here With Me all have melodies that get stuck in your head and are impossible to get out. This band needs to be recognized not just in the CCM market, but in the top 40 also. It's like if Maroon 5 and Nickelback were cloned and merged into one band, and sent to Catholic school, you'd get Mercyme.

  5. i think this album is great. i was reading alot of the other reviews and just had to write in response to some of them. i know we all hear music differently. some people seem to listen and hear mainly lyrics. i always hear the melody and the mix of the instuments. the lyrics for me are a bonus. with many of mercyme songs a huge bonus. now, that being said, not every song can be a hit. some of the other reviewers seem to think that every song should be a number one hit. that would be called selling out. let these bands write and perform from their hearts. there is a song on this cd entitled HERE WITH ME. the music in that song is as good as it gets. the chord structure is awesome. and when you add the extremely well thought out and meaningful lyrics to the music, you have a masterpiece, and that's what that song is to me. i couldn't believe that not one person mentioned this song in any of the reviews until the very last review which actually was the first. mike mcallister had mentioned that HERE WITH ME was his favorite song on the cd. i guess mike and i have something in common. thanks mike, maybe some day we can talk. as far as mercyme goes, i would highly recommend any and everything this band puts out. i feel bad for the people who will never experience bands like this. we are extremely lucky to experience MERCYME. also, the live dvd is a must have.

5 comments about The Watchman.

  1. I have listened to Paul's music since he was with Israel's Hope in the early 1980's.

His latest music seems to be even better than his early music such as Shalom Jerusalem.

This CD is a must have if you love Christian messianic praise and worship. But, moreover, it is relevant to today's praise and worship style.

  2. For those who love Paul Wilbur, this is a wonderful blend of new and old songs. For those who have never heard of Paul Wilbur and his Messianic style of worship music, this is a wonderful album for someone to be introduced to Paul Wilbur's music. The overall theme of this album is a great introduction to Messianic Hebrew Christian style of music. This album touches me down deeply. This album also brings a great sense of joy.
I love to sing along with it.

  3. Buying CD's unheard is always daunting, but this one did not disappoint. The blowing of the Shofar on the first track stirs the soul and sounds the warning. The CD is a wonderful mix of Messianic, "reggae", and christian worship music. It will be hard for Paul Wilbur to top this one.

  4. I love Messianic Worship. It is inspiring, and dynamic, and reminds us of how powerful songs are for delivering us from despair, depression, whatever the enemy has decided to hit us with. Just as David was able to soothe King Saul with his songs of the Lord playing his lyre, so too Paul Wilbur is able to get up stirred up and roused to worship the Lord, and praise Him for His mighty works! God loves to hear His children praise and worship Him. With each song we can fight the enemy, doing battle and bringing Glory to the Father.
I cannot get enough of the songs of Paul Wilbur. He made albums in the 90's with Integrity Music as well.
A great voice and a wonderful man living for God.
    Awesome CD

  5. The CD arrived in excellent condition, and I was impressed with the
great packaging used to ship the product.

  1. This one has a lot of my best christmas songs i love. I got this one at christmas time. Get for you girls and boys for christmas.

  2. My wife is annoyed by the kid's voices. My kids like them and I am indifferent. Their for the kids though right? I mean, who does she think she is to say their annoying - c'mon Amy, we can't listen to Phish all the time.

  3. My daughter loves this CD. It has a bunch of traditional songs and she has learned so many of the words listening to it over and over. I think she likes that the songs are performed by kids. The second set of songs are duplcates that can be used for sing-along but turning the speaker controls to one side which plays only the music.

  4. I was hoping for more traditional 'sing-along' songs.
My 3 year grandchild was not familiar with several. I usually love the Cedarmont Kids and she does also.

  5. Jazzy got a lot of pleasure from this CD as well as her father
