I'm listening to this very CD right now and it is great!My favorite songs are,heart of a champion,Jesus period,a witch's invitation,who's in the house,Jericho,now's the time,mission 3:16,America again,I've been delivered,Satan,bite the dust!,r.i.o.t,addicted to Jesus,ther is a God,sunday school rock,no monsters,and the champion.I would recommend this CD over any other Carman CD.(If you bought this you would not have to buy any other Carman CD because this CD has songs from almost all of his CDs)Thanks for reading this!



3. After checking out this cd from the public library, I could not wait to buy it. My favorite songs are: "Heart of a Champion"--for the uplifting lirics; "My story"-- for the "hawaian-like rithm. I am not embarrased to admit that when I heard this song I just got up and danced for about an hour. The song that touched my heart was "I promise"--A wonderful song to play at a wedding. Honestly, I liked most of the songs. I f you don't have the cd, just get it. You will not be disapointed.



4. Carman has a passion for Jesus and his desire to evangelize through his music is wonderful. God has gifted him with a beautiful voice and a great talent for writing awesome lyrics and he is using it for the glory of God.

   Songs from several of his earlier albums, which I do not own, are included on this double CD. His skit on "A Witch's Invitation' is thought provoking and great to know that 'greater is the One that is in us then the one that is in the world'.

   I also found his new song "We Need God in America Again" to be so true and profound,. America has moved away from the gospel of Jesus Christ to a 'higher power' whatever that power may be and this is so sad that millions of people are not hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ on which the constitution was based. Who will be answerable for these lost souls? Definitely not the ones that have listened to this song and taken it to heart!

   I have several albums by Carman, including "Passion for Praise", "I Surrender All", "The Absolute Best", "The Standard" and "Revival in the Land". Heart of a Champion is a great addition to my collection and I would recommend this album to anyone wanting to listen to something different and uplifting.




5. Carman has been in the music business for decades already, so he has a lot of songs to offer in his various "Best of" albums. And this one is no different. With 90s classics like "A Witch's Invitation," "Satan, Bite the Dust," "Sunday School Rock," and "No Monsters," this album will remind you of just why you like listening to Carman in the first place. And for those of you who aren't yet Carman fans, this album will give you a glimpse of the many various song styles that he is so well known for.

   Out of the 30 songs on this album, six of them are new, including "Heart of a Champion," which was the title soundtrack to Carman's 2000 movie "Champion." Though the title song is the best of the new songs, it doesn't come close to comparing to what Carman is best known for.

   The six new songs notwithstanding, this is a perfect album to add to your Carman collection, or to start a new Carman collection with.

5 comments about So Far: The Best Of Susan Ashton Volume 1.

1. So many times when I have needed encouragement, I have listened to this album, often ending up singing along at the top of my lungs. Susan Ashton's voice floats above and through the music in a way that always reaches me in a very profound way. Her message is something I can and I think many Christians can relate to--a faith in Jesus that has fluctuated and yet is there during the times of most need. I would recommend this album if you only want to get one of Susan Ashton's albums because it is such a fine selection of songs and her lovely singing voice. --Bernadette



2. Susan Ashton is an extremely talented singer and this CD captures the beauty of her voice. She puts everything in to each song she sings. I highly recommed this CD to people who enjoy beautiful music with clean and moral lyrics.



3. Years ago, I went through a period of intense pain and severe difficulty. My entire life came apart, and so did I. During that time, I listened to a lot of inspirational music, and this album was the best of all of them.
   
   I hadn't listened to it in a long time, but today I saw it amongst my many other CDs and decided to put it on. It brought back so many memories! You would think that an album I listened to frequently during a terrible time would have terrible memories associated, but I was amazed to see that the thing I remember most is the hope, the moments of knowing that I really would be all right, that things really would be okay. I remembered the comfort I drew from the music, from the clear conviction in Susan's lovely voice.
   
   Now, all these many years later, my beliefs have changed in a lot of ways, but my faith is stronger than ever. And hearing this album reminds me just how very far I really have come...
   
   Admittedly, that's a very subjective review and my personal reaction to the music. From a more objective point of view, the music is strongly written with a clear and unambiguous message of hope, faith, encouragement, and promise. Susan's voice is strong and she is an extremely good singer, using her voice perfectly to communicate the message. Good arrangements (very much in the style of 90s country, but not too "twangy" or "countrified"), and overall just a really strong, uplifting, and well-produced album in all respects.
   
   And back to that personal reflection, I'm so glad I had this album during my tribulations and trial by fire, and I'm even more glad that I got it out today to listen to it again.



4. Back in the early 90's, Susan Ashton burst onto the Christian music scene with a couple very well reviewed CD's. Before she tried to cross over to a country artist, she released four projects for Sparrow and this best of.
   
   This CD was released after her third project came out. That third CD only gets two songs here. It didn't have great success at radio, which is a shame because it had some great tracks. They just weren't radio friendly. "Waiting for Your Love to Come Down" and "Remember Not" were more radio friendly, but they weren't the best that CD had to offer. And they continue to be the weak links here.
   
   The rest of the CD will brings smiles of remembrance from anyone who listened to Christian radio during Susan's heyday. It opens with "Here in My Heart" and includes such staples as "Down on My Knees," "No One Knows My Heart," and my favorite "In Amazing Grace Land." Interestingly enough, the CD closes with "Beyond Justice to Mercy" which was never a hit at radio. I must admit I didn't like this song of reconciliation, but it has grown on me.
   
   As most collection CD's do, this one has two new tracks. "Stand" is a song of commitment in spite of the trials of life. "Hide or Seek" is classic Susan as it talks about the decision to seek or hide from God's love.
   
   I'm not quite sure what killed Susan's Christian career, but I miss her music. Her few releases are still regular staples in my CD player. And this excellent collection will show you exactly why.



5. Susan Ashton is a contemporary Christian vocalist who is writing and singing songs that are as good as (or better than) any pop artist in today's Top 40.

   This greatest hits album is a perfect introduction to Susan Ashton's music. One of the most immediate things you'll hear is her magnaminous voice: God gave Susan Ashton some impeccable pipes, and she knows how to use them. This singer has one of the most pristine and herculean voices in popular music today (think Martina McBride, a good comparison). Moreover, Susan sings with passion, knowing instinctively how to convey the personal feelings associated with her songs.

   Of course, a central dimension to these songs is the unmistakable Christian themes. Whether she's encouraging us to "reach out beyond justice to mercy, going more than halfway to forgive," or acknowledging that "no one knows my heart better than [God]," or proclaiming she'll "stand...for what I believe," you can expect to hear messages to which all believing people relate.

   This album contains some of the finest songs in contemporary Christian music. I highly recommend it!

1. This CD sounded better over the Internet than it does on an actual disk. Can You Reach My Friend is nice, but I bought it because I wanted to listen to You Light Up My Life. Debby has a much more lively version on her Greatest Hit CD recorded when she was younger. You might want to get that CD instead if you're looking forward to listen to You Light Up My Life.

3. Debbie's best album brought me back to my college years. But she still has the ability of causing you chills of emotions as you can still hear her voice and think of the beautiful girls I had the opportunity to date while listening to her music. You never cease to be young and romantic while your heart is enchanted by the sweet magic of her voice.



4. Debby Boone has one of the most beautiful voices in the music industry. The only reason I got this CD was because it has a couple of songs from her "With My Song" album I purchased in 1980. THAT album is her best Christian album in my opinion. I would love to see the "With My Song" album in CD format...



5. This CD is truly sensational and long awaited for a Compilation that highlights Debby's outstanding Christian Albums from the 80's And of course the US No.1 `Smash hit' title track from 1977. Here in the UK it only reached No.48!!

   As a young Christian then, the Songs inspired me when I first heard them from the relative albums they came from Notably `With My Song', `Choose Life' and `Friends for Life'. Now, some years later they still do!

   What comes across for each song is that they are contemporary ballads and upbeat, in particular `Choose life' with striking lyrics of the Choice in the Gospel message.

   Thanks to the compiler, each track has been chosen diligently, so on reflection this new CD does not stick to a particular style of music. But positively inspirational and uplifting.

   What's more is that all the tracks on this CD are original recordings. The Lyrics are enclosed in the booklet.

   Debby Boone has a gifted voice that clearly comes across on these tracks. This compilation is a must for Debby Boone fans, particularly if you do not have these tracks on CD already.

3. I come from a military family... THIS CD captures the sentiments of God, Family, and Country! The songs are by the original recording artists and are so very moving. I play this for my family on Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day. I find my children asking me to put it on in the car as well. Bonus... while listening my six year old is now asking questions about service to country, living honestly and respectfully, and what servicemen have to go through to protect us. So in our house, this CD moves and inspires people from age 3 to age 40 to appreciate the blessings of this land of the free! AMEN!

1. This wonderful concert/documentary film, simply put, extremely impressive. Despite some grain from some camera angles, an intentional effect, the image is strong with rich colors, and the sound is a strong stereo signal (I'd rather have a great stereo sound than a crummy 5.1 mix). DC Talk is amazing in the studio, and here they proved that they were even more electric on the stage. Check out the trio's great rendition of the Beatles' "Help" that opened the show, followed by their original, crunchy "So Help Me God." Great energy with sweaty, gritty performances that might make many think this is a secular band. DC Talk, at least on their last three records (Free At Last, Jesus Freak and Supernatural) proved they could run with any secular band, and "Welcome To The Freak Show," with its tremendous vocal harmonies, stunning musicianship (bassist Otto Price never fails to deliver the goods) and message that God is our priority all make this video a great thing to experience over and over again. Also included are DC Talk's music videos for "Jesus Freak" (haunting), "Colored People" (touching) and "Between You and Me" (almost a cliffhanger). Pick this DVD up now, along with DC Talk's "Supernatural Experience" DVD which chronicled the band's 1999 tour, which had as many sparks as this 1996 tour did.



2. if u say "dc Talk"....u can say the best christian band ever...as i first listen 2 them i couldn't believe it...a new style in christian music combined with nirvana's grunge, new rock guitar...dc Talk has it all...Welcome 2 The Freak Show can show u that very easy...the best concert that i ever saw....great music , lyrics & great atmosphere.....



3. I love this video!!!!I love dc Talk!!! I love GOD!!!! This video is so awesome. It doesn't only have real live footage of dc Talk live in concert, but it also has some (short) interviews with Kevin, Toby and Mike. I can't stop watching it!! My mom just about goes crazy if she heres another dc Talk song, this video is all I play in the V.C.R. I love it, you should love it, and you should buy this tape (NOW!!!) WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? I guess you just don't know how great this video really is. All of the songs off of their cd *Jesus Freak* are on it, and some songs off of their old albums!! And even a song from the *beatles - HELP* Buy It, Love It, And Yes You Need It Right Away!!!
