  1. I bought this CD on the advice of several friends who know I like worship songs. This CD didn't do much for me...it was too much rock and roll and a heavy metal feeling. I like the songs that are more total worship to God and not the ones where someone takes a love song and you're supposed to apply it to God. I could be way off but this CD is not in my car's player.

    R.

  2. I enjoy these cds, but I'm surprised that there seems to be less variety than some of the previous editions.

  3. Every awesome song you could hear on KLOV or Air1 you will find on this CD. There is not a single song that I don't like!! So worth the $$:)

  4. I got this for just under $11. That's a great price considering the WOW CDs are usually close to $20.
When I listen to it, I feel like I'm listening to the regional Christian radio station. They play the exact same songs.
I usually don't buy these compilation CDs unless I absolutely love most of the songs. This deal let me take a chance to hear the songs I was less familiar with it. Definitely worth it.

  5. Most of the songs on these cds are familiar. A few that I've never heard, so I'm assuming they are hits in another part of the country.

5 comments about Thirsty.

  1. This was a pretty good CD. The title track "Thirsty" was the better of most of the tracks. "Never should have made it" was pretty good, but it was not what I thought it would be.

  2. All I can say is that Marvin Sapp is a true Worshipper! I will be buying more of his CD's.

  3. I have always enjoyed Marvin Sapp. He's not just an artist trying to sell music with a catchy beat, he is a man of God and full time minister of the gospel. I believe that Marvin actually lives what he is singing about, and the annoiting that flows through his music and minstry is evident of that. You have to have a personal walk and relationship with the Father to fully appreciate and identify with the experiences that he portrays in his singing. "Never Could Have Made It Without You" is very inspirational aand humbling. For the worshipers out there and for those who love gospel music for more than just the beat and for it's ability to appeal to the flesh, I highly reccomend this CD

  4. Marvin's smooth gospel vocals make you feel the music. "Never Would Have Made It" really makes you think of the things that you've made it through and how without Jesus you never would have. This song brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it.

  5. I received this cd from my husband for Mother's Day and have to say that this is another spirit-filled project by Marvin Sapp. He has some great music. From his days with Commissioned up to the present, he never ceases to deliver in his music to magnify the Lord! I am getting the dvd next! My only negative is that the cd is too short! This is the continuation of Diary of a Psalmist! I love that DVD!

  1. I am big Lifehouse fan and this is one of there best CD's yet.

  2. It sounds like more time & effort was put into this album that the other ones. Most of the tracks sound like they REALLY invested lots of time composing the lyrics and music

It is a very cohesive and well put together Album.

  3. pretty good listening, my wife likes it better than i of course i am an 80s freak

  4. Lifehouse brings us another great album, as you can see by all those other reviews. This review concerns those 'freebies' that are listed as part of the Deluxe CD. Don't count on it! The insert in the CD says it comes with a free ringtone and cell wallpaper, and includes a code to use on a special website, which requires registration. After you give them your email address and go through the email verification log-in, you find out that it's for 3 cell carriers only: Sprint, T-mo, and Cingular. I have Sprint. Put my cell number in, added the special code, got the text on my phone and the text says 'not compatible with your handset' (Palm Centro). So I go back to the web site to see if the wallpaper will work. I go through the whole rigamarole again, putting in the magic code and this time I get a web site edit: 'Code has already been used'. There's nothing on the outside or inside of the CD to indicate that you can choose either the wallpaper or the ringtone but not both. It even says "Free ringtone and more!" Hmmph! Suckered again.

  5. I'll keep this simple.....a really good mature CD by a band who keeps getting better. If you like this CD, also check out the Fozzy All That Remains Reloaded CD/DVD....heavier band, but on the same track with the melodies and sing/song chorus

  1. I liked their first two albums much better but this one is still worth buying. I think they had too much large chorus work and little kids singing at odd times but I love CC so I would still buy it again having heard it.

  2. This was a very moving and very relevant CD. I would recommend it to others who are Casting Crowns fans.

  3. Casting Crowns has released another amazing album. East to West is my favorite song on the CD, but Slow Fade, Somewhere in the Middle, The Altar and the Door, and All Because of Jesus are also really good songs. A powerful piece of work. Well done, CC!!

  4. I love this album. "The Altar and the Door" is a great song, as is "East to West". But I think my favorite is "What This World Needs". This song just spoke a lot to me. A definte have album!!

  5. I really enjoy Casting Crowns. They sing about real life circumstances and lean on the Lord while having a more modern-upbeat sound that kids and adults will enjoy (light rock'ish'). I put both of their cds right onto my ipod and have been listening to them ever since...

  1. I liked this cd a lot. It had quite a few of my favorite songs on it. Some were done by othere artists than the ones I am used to hearing on the radio, but they were very good versions. I was excited to find the Dallas Holmes song "Rise Again" as it is one of my all-time favorites.

  2. If you like contemporary christian music you will love this CD. Well worth the money spent.

  3. I can only imagine. Wow was hoping it would be as annointed as it sounded like on tv. It is. I would not hesitate to give this as a gift or to just buy it for myself again, if i did not already have it. This cd is one of the BEST i have bought in years.
I Can Only Imagine: Platinum Edition

  4. I like a rehash of an old song... as long as a new take is presented. This set had artists performing great hits (like Indescribable) by artists who just didn't give you that same feeling of power and purpose and praise. The selection of songs is amazing. The selection of artists is less than stellar (though there are some greats on here too). For this, I have to lower my rating to three stars. Hope this helps.

  5. The songs were great!! Just cant stop listening and worshipping the LORD!
    JESUS is the best!

5 comments about The Bird And The Bee Sides.

  1. I had a nice chat with my brother about this CD, and we have 2 very different opinions. He doesn't like the newish style of the songs, and I do. I love the acoustic versions as well, and I think that Relient K is still the goofy and down to earth band that I've always loved. Now, despite the number of tracks, this isn't their best work to date (the past two albums were my favorites). But fans should still be able to enjoy this massive collection of witty lyrics and catchy tunes. It is different, to me it's a nice different, but I still hope they go back to the tried and true, old comfortable style for their next album.

  2. Relient K's "The Birds and the Bee Sides" is a must for any Relient K fan. It does a great job giving you all of their styles, from the new country sound of "At least we made it this far", to the Five Score sound of "Scene and Herd, or the Mmhmm sound of "Lining is Silver", along with the old-school sounds found on anatomy ant two lefts found in "the vinyl countdown", "nothing without you", and "for the band".

So many great songs and such a great Cd!

  3. I love Relient K and I love that they put out their bee sides and they charged a great price. However, the Relient K that I love has awesome wordplay and is much more upbeat. They are still brilliant but I hope that they don't continue to head toward a less unique, mainstream direction.

  4. I bought the Cd from Best Buy tuned it in and it sounds nothing like them i don't like it as much as there other cds but for 26 songs some old songs just changed background , but you cant beet the price, it depends on who listening to the song hope you like it

i gave it a 3 out of 5 because i like some songs and it has a bunch of songs
next time they make a new cd im still buying it , because they have the best music

  5. As a big fan of Relient K, and a singer/songwriter myself, one must wonder where all the hooks went. The new songs featured in the Nashville Tennis EP are OK, but many of them just don't take hold right away, if at all. In contrast, the b-sides often rock more and have twice the hooks. From the cover art as well as the lush tracks on their latest full-length, I was pretty sure the sound was going to be even more mellow, and more artsy. And it is, without the melodies. The opening track starts out with a banjo, then moves immediately into a note-for-note re-write of "The Best Thing" off their last album. And, out of the 26 songs, about half of them are real clunkers, semi-ballads that go nowhere (reminiscent of New Found Glory's "Coming Home" album). Like NFG, Relient K seems to have lost a bit of the passion along the line somewhere. The raw emotion of Hmmmmmm... has dropped off a bit on the last two releases. And that would be forgiveable if the songs were as great as they were on that album, but they're not, so I suggest this album for hardcore fans only.

  1. With 2005's "This Woman", LeAnn delivered one of the best albums I've heard, and even though this is a small step down, it is still a true 5 star album, that everyone should buy once they get the chance. Now that LeAnn is writing her own songs, she is delivering more impressing performances than ever before! Her voice sounds better than ever, and man, she has some awesome pipes! A true winner!

    Favourites:
"Good Friend & A Glass Of Wine"
-Oh My God! This song is one of my all time favourite numbers by LeAnn! It's rocking, rollicking fun! The fact that this bombed at radio is beyond me.

    "Nothin' Better To Do"
-Wow! What a vocal performance" She sounds so great! This is just a classic uptempo country song, and simply an amazing song.

Buy this album along with Trisha's newest release, "Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love", and you've got the two greatest releases of 2007.

  2. Very solid release. love "nothin' better" especially the video (very cool), "good friend". "til' we ain't, "upper hand" and "when you love".
She has grown vocally and as a writer. Recommended!

  3. Rimes has always appealed to women and her release is no exception. The new cd "Family" is full of meaningful and enjoyable songs that I just can't turn off.

  4. The Material Wasn't as Great as I first thought,on the album. Very happy with the service from Amazon as always.

  5. I'll preface this by saying, I have spent a majority of my life shunning country music. Now those of you who have read my other reviews know about of my undying love for the Dixie Chicks and my like of Carrie Underwood. Yet, Miss Rimes has always left an unpleasant taste in my mouth, probably because of that sappy, godawful, "How Do I Live" song that made her famous and that you coudln't get away from in 1999.

Then I heard "Nothing Better to do" and my curiosity was piqued.

This chick has an AMAZING voice. I love this song! I love it so much I had to hear the whole album. It's pretty good too! Stand out songs for me are Good Friends and a Glass of Wine, Till We Aint Strangers, and of course Nothin Better to do.

For those of you who don't like this song because you can't understand the lyrics, buck up and doo a googlesearch for God's sake!

Hung my cotton dress on rusted wire

    Just a crazy roughneck's daughter
    Jumped head-first into the water
    Baptized away my sins

Hitched to town with Bobby Jo and Tommy
Couple of lookers, new best friends
We slipped in the back of Sunday service
Know them church ladies, they heard us
Bum smoke money from the offering

Mama said, "Idle hands are Devil's handywork"
Oh, the trouble you'll get into
You got nothin' better to do, got nothin' better to do x2
    Yea yea yea yea

    Oh, yeah

    That Slim-Jim bag boy hadn't a prayer
Well I hiked my skirt and did the talkin'
While them boys were busy walkin'
Case of .5 out the back door

Hid deep in the Mississippi backwoods
We danced and played around 'til dark
Well I had them wrestlin' for my first kiss
Turned into a fight and they missed

Me speeding off in Tommy's car

Mama said, "Idle hands are Devil's handywork"
Oh, the trouble you'll get into
You got nothin' better to do, got nothin' better to do
You got nothin' better to do, got nothin' better to do
    Yea yea yea yea

    Nobody hurt, nobody harmed
    Nobody's busines but my own

Mama said, "Idle hands are Devil's handwork
Oh, the trouble you'll get into!"
You got nothin' better to do, got nothin' better to do

You got nothin' better to do, got nothin' better to do

5 comments about To Know That You're Alive.

  1. A lot has happened to the Portland, Oregon-based Christian rock band Kutless in the last two years since the release of their third studio album Hearts Of The Innocent. Founding guitarist Ryan Shrout left the group to spend more time caring for his infant daughter who had been diagnosed with a serious disease. The band's guitar technician Nick DePartee steps in to fill his shoes during live shows and eventually becomes a full-time member. Frontman Jon Micah Sumrall suffers some near career-ending injuries. All of this and more has contributed to a Kutless that sounds vastly different from what most of us have become accustomed to.

So how exactly does this "new" Kutless sound? In a word: amazing.

Certainly, you can tell that at the core this is still the same Kutless we know and love. However, this is far and away their most experimental and mature album released to date. The integration of new guitarist DePartee into the fold has brought a decidedly different sound to the band's music. I hate to describe it as "arena rock" because that almost always implies the 80's hair metal cheese factor, but it's easy to see what the band had in mind when writing these songs: to simply rock each and every arena they perform them in.

The album kicks off with "The Feeling," a short but tasty track that is more or less a call to arms for Kutless fans to come together and rock out for Christ. This track was available for free download from the band's website for a while, and it sounds like nothing they've ever done before. The instrumental piece "Sleeping City" follows, and although it too is rather short it is also beautiful and somewhat haunting at the same time. It blends into the album's title track, and like "The Feeling" this is one of the most rocking tracks the band has ever written. "The Disease and The Cure" is my second favorite on the album; it has an almost punk sound to it and the chorus will get stuck in your head after just one listen. Jon Micah also sings beautifully in the song's bridge. "Complete" comes next and although I don't think it was the greatest choice for a first single because it really doesn't represent the album as a whole, it's still a great song about how we truly are not whole without the love of Jesus in our lives. "The Rescue" is probably my least favorite song on the album, but that's only because Jon Micah's vocals sound a little too strained in the chorus for my liking. The rest of the track is amazing, especially the screaming and breakdown near the end. (Not to mention the very subtle synth hook that you have to listen closely for to hear.)

"Promise You" is one of the band's most lyrically poignant songs ever written. It has to do with a victim of domestic abuse and how crying out to the Lord has helped to empower this person to escape their tormentor, and even though "forgiveness can't take scars away" they "forgive them anyway." Very moving song and if you don't agree you must not have a pulse. "Guiding Me Home" comes next. Some I know have said that it sounds a bit too much like the title track from Sea of Faces, and I can see where they are coming from to a certain extent but it's still a beautiful ballad that manages to stand on its own. We will never deserve all of the grace and love that God has shown us, but He does so anyways. "Overcoming Me" is another hard-rocking track in the vein of "The Feeling" only better and slightly longer. The way Jon shouts "I'm standing in the pouring rain..." in the chorus sends chills up my spine. "I Do Not Belong" is, hands down, my favorite song on the album. Everything about it is perfect musically and lyrically. Our time on Earth is only temporary, and this song reinforces that message. "Loud" is more or less an abridged version of "Shut Me Out" from the HOTI album; the two songs are very similar from lyrical standpoint but this one is considerably shorter. "Dying To Become" is probably the most experimental track on the record. The piano that opens the song and each verse is awe-inspiring, and Jeff Gilbert's drumming is incredibly precise. Another reviewer here compared this song to the Guns 'N' Roses hit "November Rain," and I can definitely see the comparison musically. There's also a tasty guitar solo a little more than halfway through. The album closes with "You," a song that features some of the best vocal work from Jon Micah ever. This is certainly not one of those overly vague "God or my girlfriend" type of songs. Here, you can tell that Jon is singing about the Lord.

With this album, Kutless have proven that they really are a force to be reckoned with in the Christian rock scene. Personally, I believe they established that status four years ago with the Sea of Faces record, but this release definitely cements it. As I said before, you can tell this is a Kutless record at the core, but it's also a much better, slightly grown up Kutless record. And that certainly is a good thing.

  2. This album hands down is the worst album Kutless has ever put out, period. I mean I can see that they were going for a 'new sound' aka selling out, but by doing so, they dissapointed true kutless fans....this album sucks, don't get it.

  3. I really enjoyed listening to this album. Two songs that really stuck out for me was "Complete" and "The Feeling" they are prob. my favorite songs on the new album. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the cd as a whole. If you've liked Kutless from the very beginning, then you need to buy this.

  4. My mind is blown... Kutless has transcended their previous "really good hard rock" and gone somewhere into the far reaches of excellent new wave metal with a penchant for emotional interludes and superb guitar work. The lyrics are worshipful and honest as always, but the sound is a TOTALLY revamped craft. If you have always loved Kutless, but leaned towards the modern sounds of "Skillet" "Red" and "Thousand Foot Krutch" than you will have finally found a Kutless album that is bringing you what you always wanted.
    Praise God for Good Musicians!

  5. I've been a fan of Kutless since the beginning and with news of a new album coming from them always gets me filled with anticipation and joy. They are the best and this album shows why. It has a little bit of everything for everybody. Soft and slow, hard and fast! Listening to any Kutless cd really gets you in tune with God, especially when you're having days where you're feeling out of step with Him.

I can't think of one track on this cd that I don't like and the major majority of them are an absolute pleasure to listen to over and over. Great guitar play, Jon Micah's awesome vocals, very spiritual lyrics that have a lesson to teach us all, beautiful orchestral work laced behind some of the tracks. There is much passion in this cd! Do yourself a favor and pick up this cd, it will fill your heart with love and joy.

If you're new to Kutless get all 4 of their main releases(they have 4 regular studio albums including this one and a praise and worship album, Strong Tower). You need to experience all of these albums to really get a feel for how great Kutless's song lyrics are and the wonderful message of God they are spreading across the world.

Some of my favorite songs on this album are the title track, To Know That You're Alive, as well as, You, Complete, Guiding Me Home, and I Do Not Belong. You will feel like you belong after you listen to this amazing cd. I think Kutless is the best band anywhere, whether it be in the world secular or Christian music. Please give this one a try, it is fabulous! God bless all!

This seller was WAAAY accurate - I appreciate it!

    BUY from this seller!
    You won't be sorry - -

  2. This CD is simply wonderful. I would recommend it for anyone looking to be uplifted.

  3. Please keep Steven Curtis Chapman and his family in your prayers. The song Cinderella is about his youngest daughter who went to be with Jesus yesterday. Cinderella, along with Miracle of the Moment, is one of my favorite songs on the CD. Again, please keep the family in your prayers.

  4. I may be a bit biased because Steven Curtis Chapman is my most favorite artist ever, but this album tops the charts in my book!

  5. Chapman's new CD is awesome. I purchased it because my granddaughter's favorite song right now is "Cinderella". It fits her stage of life perfectly. Great album!

5 comments about Love Forever Shines.

  1. even though I consider Regina as one of the greatest female vocalist
singers , this new style of Gospel is not for her, She is more like
soul-love music. I hope she can do something like before, but still
    this album is excellent.

  2. In the late eighties every "Quiet Storm" DJ on the planet was playing "Baby Come to Me," the bellowing slow jam by Regina Belle that seemingly seduced the charts overnight. Into the nineties, Belle manufactured numerous hit love songs -- "Is This Love?," "Make It Like It Was," "Show Me the Way," and "All I Want Is Forever" (with JT Taylor of Kool & The Gang) -- all well written and colored by her feminine tenor tones. Whether in a duet or alone, Regina was the embodiment of soulful grown folks music and one of the most recognizable and celebrated R&B vocalists of that period.
When well-known artists record an album in a genre different from the one for which they're known, it can often feel a bit forced. But for Jazz/Soul vocalist Regina Belle, a pastor's wife who has long been an outspoken believer, the move seems so obvious that it begs the question, Why didn't she take this leap of faith before?
"God says the time is right", says Regina. "He's transitioning me to do a work for him. It was opportune".
The new offering by the acclaimed songstress is a triumphant homage to God's faithfulness through it all, a testament to how His goodness and mercy followed the vocalist all the days of her life, from the cradle all the way through her decorated music career. Most importantly, the album is a tribute to the singer's gospel music heritage--14 songs that speak to the bedrock of Regina Belle's faith, never more evident in the disc's stunning centerpiece, the stirring traditional first single, "God Is Good"
Her contemporary and good friend Shirley Murdock who has walked a parallel path personally and professionally (both were leading ladies in R&B and are now first ladies in their husbands' churches), appears on the album in a duet entitled "I Call on Jesus".
Award-winning Gospel artist, Melvin Williams (Williams Brothers) duets with Regina on the song, "Good To Be Loved" as well Williams' vocals can be heard accompanying her on background on the first single, "God Is Good".
This album will undoubtedly build on Regina's success to date. Her voice embodies so much: wistful yearning, romanticism, sadness, joy and more.
Regina Belle, a noted songwriter in her own right, penned many of the songs featured on the project, while working alongside Chris Walker who produced and co-produced all but two songs on the CD. Musical talent seemingly runs in the family as her brother Bernard Belle, a well-known music industry songwriter, wrote, produced and arranged two of the album's tracks.
The tracks she wrote demonstrate her own writing ability, while her interpretations are fresh and personal.
There is very much the sense of Regina singing these absolutely as she wants, meandering and taking her time over the lyrics in a luxurious fashion.
That's the way I like it though, an artist who can effortlessly evoke feeling no matter what style she embarks on, and while her music all has her signature touch her albums never, and I mean never, falls into the rut of redundancy.
David (Letterman), Jay (Leno), Ellen (DeGeneres), and Oprah (Winfrey) : please, take note of this !

  3. If you love African American inspired gospel music, or even if you don't- this CD will knock your socks off, raise your spirits, and bring tears to your eyes. Words from the heart and divine, absolutely divine music.

  4. I just can't say enough about this CD. It has comtemporary, down home, and hip hop gospel all combined into one and performed with elegance. Once I put this CD into my player my whole praise experience went into "overdrive".

This CD is loaded with Good songs. I really loved "God is Good", and listening to Melvin William's voice throughout the CD was just awesome.

This has to be one of the best first time projects I have ever heard. Therefore cudos to Regina for a job well done.

  5. Regina Belle has put together a wonderful collection of song that will make you feel good and shout at the same time. Sure to be a faviorite is "God is Good". It has an old type sound with new feelings.

    Wonderful...
