5 comments about Ultimate Kids Song Collection: 101 Favorite Sing-A-Longs.
- I read all the great reviews for this CD and bought it. I HATE it! I can not stand to listen to the children on the CD singing off tune. The quality of the singing is so poor. The CD does have many familiar songs (I didn't listen to all 4 disks, I gave up after 3) but I just can't bear this one. My toddler didn't seem so fond of this collection either. I laid all of his CD's out for him, and he has not once chosen to listen to this one after I initially played it for him. He does have many other favorites though. This one really is torture if you care for good music at all.
- Our 23 month old daughter LOVES this set! As soon as she gets into the car seat, she says, "Play my music?!" She bobs her head happily and claps along joyfully. She really enjoys the animal sound effects and the children's voices. She has the first cd memorized already and enjoys singing along to the different songs.
Some parents may find some of the songs annoying, as some of the arrangements may not be as they remember. I tend to skip over some of the "original" songs (playing w/matches, strangers), just because I think they sound too fun for such serious issues.
Overall, this is a good purchase for your child. It brings out the kid in all of us!
- Since I became a new mom, I had bought several CDs of children's songs for my baby. However, most of them are [weak]. So I didn't expect too much from this set of CDs. What a nice surprise, the Ultimate Kids Song Collection is by far my favorite as well as my 1 year old's. Baby loves it and starts bouncing whenever I play the CDs. The set contains 3 CDs with 101 songs (over 3 hours of music). This is quiet a bargain at around [$$] considering the great quality of recording. The performance by the Wonder Kids choir is superb. Also, the songs were recorded in split tracks so you can have karaoke style fun.
- The music on Disc 3 is snappy, upbeat and a pleasure for adults and children. I am a rock-n-roll fan but this is a cool disc. My wife and I will certainly locate and buy the remaining discs in this set.
- Please do not get me wrong. I received this collection as a gift and it is quite comprehensive. However, as an elementary school teacher and mom I have had plenty of experience with the genre. I am a firm believer that children deserve the same (or better) quality as adults do (in music and all other things).
That said, this recording is very inferior. The recordings are of a quality that makes them unpleasant (almost downright irritating) to listen too. The nice melody, rhythm and careful arranging that goes into other recordings is missing here. The end result is considerably less enjoyable, than say a Raffi or even a Barney CD, and there is a whole lot more of it to endure.

5 comments about Complete Little Rascals Music.
- This is an excellent compilation and performance of the wonderful music created by Leroy Shields for Hal Roach durng the 20's and 30's. The theme to the Little Rascals is my favorite and everytime I hear it - it makes me smile. A must for lovers of the "The Little Rascals" shorts.
- A Little Rascals or Laural and Hardy short is incomplete without the musical soundtrack dancing in the backround that we all love and know so well. If this is what you wanted, and it sure is what I've wanted for a long ,long time, only one word could describe it: PERFECT!
- Definitely not an "historically informed performance" in today's accepted sense, and yet that's exactly what it is, the differences being of repertoire and musical instruments. Holland's Beau Hunks (named for a Laurel and Hardy film) have gone to the trouble of giving us note-for-note recreations of Leroy Shield's prolific Little Rascals output performed on instruments of the type used for the original soundtracks, and the results are astounding--truly a labor of love. I can't imagine these recordings would be of much interest to non-fans but to those of us who are, they're enchanting. They remind me not only of my childhood (I suspect most of us who grew up during the 50's and 60's here in the States watched TLR on TV) but also of the great LR festivals that were held during the 80's here in NYC every Friday midnight at the St. Mark's Theater. Those were more permissive times and fans used to wait in the ticket holders line, partaking with impunity of a particular variety of imported "tobacco" before being allowed in to find seats. And while some of us have moved beyond certain such not-strictly-legal activities in which we engaged at that time, I'd like to believe that our development remained arrested with regard to forms of entertainment like TLR. Really great stuff, in no small part because of that wonderful, evocative, immediately recognizable music.
Incidentally (collectors take note), the inserts for this set differ slightly from those included with the CD's sold for individual purchase. The most obvious differences concern the first disk (TBH Play the Original LR Music) and include the cover art's being sepia-toned as opposed to black-and-white; the stock itself isn't as nice, either (it's not nearly as heavy). Also, both disks in the box are labeled on their back inserts as being part of a box, so if such things are important, examine your set with these differences in mind--they're the easiest ones to spot. No extra materials are included, hence there's no advantage to owning the box over the individual CD's unless having the slipcase is important; it might also be a bit easier to acquire the separate CD's (the first of which is way OOP, as is the box).
- These cds will take you back to when you were a kid sitting in front of the tv on Saturday morning watching the Little Rascals and eating your Pep or Cheerios. They are spot-on recreations of the music you listened to growing up and watching the Little Rascal shorts. If you are like me, you will be listening and you will mentally flash on a scene from one of the shorts. These are must have discs for your collection.
- WOW...these transcriptions of the Little Rascals music are priceless. They are all played with energy and vigor. This is the Beau Hunks' absolute best recording. If you love the Little Rascals OR the incidental music of films from the 1930s, you gotta have this one.

1 comments about Hello Children Everywhere!: 60 Favourite Kids' Songs.
- I remember listening to Children's hour on BBC radio in the fifties (introduced by Uncle Mac with his catch-phrase Hello children everywhere) and the music played on that programme is the basis of this set, although some songs of more recent vintage are included. I'm sure they would have been played on Children's hour if they'd been available at the time.
Among my favorite tracks are Right said Fred (a very funny song), Runaway train (though I'd have preferred Michael Holliday's cover to Vernon Dalhart's original), Ernie, Lily the pink, Ballad of Davy Crockett, Bring me sunshine, Nellie the elephant, Farmers in the den, Big rock candy mountain and Teddy bears' picnic.
There are some songs here that I regard as truly dreadful, but this is to be expected in a compilation of this nature. I'm sure you don't like everything here either but maybe your dislikes are different from mine. I'm glad they didn't include Long-haired lover from Liverpool (Little Jimmy Osmond) or Mother of mine (Neil Reid) but I was dismayed to find There's no-one quite like Grandma (St Winifred's school choir) included.
But I won't dwell on the tracks I dislike - with sixty tracks, most of them very enjoyable, this is great value for money. It will provide great entertainment for children, or for adults remembering their childhood. Among adults, it is likely to have particular appeal to those (like me) who remember Uncle Mac and his Children's hour.

4 comments about Guess How Much I Love You.
- I got this for my grand daughter and decided to open it un and listen it to it before I sent it to her. I loved it so much that I kept this copy for myself and bought another one for her. I also bought one to give as a baby shower gift! The songs and music on these CD's are just so nice! I find them VERY relaxing and peaceful. I think this should be a must for every baby. My grand daughter loves it. It immediately calms down a fussy baby. You can't put a price on that!
- We absolutely love this box set. My husband bought it when we were expecting. I love the book "Guess How Much I Love You" and we listened to the cd both while my baby was in utero and also in the hospital after delivery.
My son is 14 months old and loves it - especially the first cd. It is relaxing and soothing. The words to the songs are beautiful. It works like a charm to get my son calm and to sleep peacefully. It is a perfect gift for a new family or baby shower.
- I love this CD collection. My son loves to cuddle and listen to soothing and dulcet tones of the author reading the story. By the second track he is getting drowsy and by 5th one, the eyes are closed. It's the only CD that keeps him entertained till he falls asleep in the crib. The other CD's are great at stopping cranky moods. I don't know what it is about this collection but it's just made for little ears!
- I bought this to play for baby in utero but upon listening to it, I love it to listen to for me now! The music will be wonderful for baby to sleep to, play to or just background music. I highly recommend!!!

5 comments about Schoolhouse Rock! (1973 TV Series).
- I always enjoyed the Schoolhouse Rock spots on television as a kid. Now my kids are loving them, too. My daughter actually learned her multiplication tables by remembering the songs on these CDs.
- Talk about old-school, this is the very definition!! I never get tired of hearing the old songs. The DVDs are great, too.
- This collection includes all the songs that were written for Schoolhouse Rock. There is a lot of nostalgia here for those of us who grew up in the '70s. I enjoy almost all of the songs, but the ones that were added after i grew up have less appeal to me. The Multiplication Rock songs sound the best, since they were taken from the master tapes. Most of the other songs were recorded directly from the cartoons, so they aren't in stereo and they include the sound effects from the cartoons. This generally isn't too bad, but I find the abundance of sound effects on "No More Kings" to be somewhat annoying. One other minor complaint: the "Scooter Computer and Mr. Chips" songs are too dated. Computer technology advanced so fast that they were almost immediately obsolete. But fans of Schoolhouse Rock should still get this collection. To quote Lisa Simpson, "this is one of those campy '70s throwbacks that appeals to Generation Xers."
- Anyone born before 1980 remembers the time when cartoons were only played during the day on Saturday mornings (before Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Toon Disney came along). Your Mom couldn't blast you out of bed before 7 a.m. on a weekday, but your internal 'toon clock got you up at 6:30 a.m. to watch Saturday morning cartoons. And inbetween shows, there was a brilliant little series of short musical toons called "Schoolhouse Rocks". Back in the days before Hooked On Phonics or Baby Einstein, these shorts taught multiplying, english grammar, history, and science, all set to fun music and cool blues tunes. In this clever boxed set, you get all four series on CD, averaging about 12 to 14 songs per CD. It's a reasonable price for a boxed set (around 45-50 bucks)and totally worth it! Even kids today know "Conjunction Junction" and "I'm Just a Bill", but haven't heard "Naughty Number Nine", "No More Kings", "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Get You Adverbs", or "Tax Man Max". It's fun to listen to these songs and remember the words. I bought these for my kids to listen to in the car, and now a new generation is adopting them as their own. We love them, and so will you.
- My 3 year old grandson enjoys this and all the SCHOOL HOUSE ROCKS CD's. I didn't have such wonderful educational tools for my children so I feel so excited to be able to give it to my grandkids. I have found another CD set that we are thrilled about called SRIPTURE ROCK and ROCK THE WORD. Both of these sets capture and keep a child's attention and imagination and when used together, give any child a well rounded foundation.
