1. I have an autographed copy of this album somewhere. Here in Philly we used to have this festival called "The Jambalaya Jam" (still do, but different name) and loads of groups, known and lesser known would come up from Louisiana. - - The year Rockin Dopsie debuted (1985?) I think the Neville's and Dr. John headlined. Dopsie was on at 5:00 in the afternoon... and I remember my first impressions of the group when they were tuning up... a guy who looked like B.B. King playing blues licks on an ACCORDIAN - - his son is wearing a cooking apron and a washboard, and the bass player was tuning up playing these funky licks that were so deep, it felt like I was getting kicked in the but... I practically stared at Alton Rubin Sr. (Rockin' Dupsie) and the accordian thinking, "What the...?" and then they started... MAN, DID THEY SMOKE... they won Philly over, and became very popular at the festival from then on (even before getting a moment of fame on Paul Simon's Graceland album) - - Yes, it's cajun bayou music, yes its the blues... and yes, a lot of the songs are in French... that was wierd for me too at the time because they were black dudes, and I'm from Philadelphia... and we didn't even have a lot of Hatian dudes, let alone French speaking people playing blues on the accordian with Conked har and opening their show with James Brown and Sam and Dave numbers... but this band was so exciting and they won us over. - - Sr. is up in heavy now heatin' things up with Clifton Chenier... and Buckwheat who was also unknown at the time went on to fame as an opening act for Eric Clapton... and all these years later... both I and the CD have met on the net, and I think I'm going to get it, cos' as many times as I listened to that album, it must be pretty beat up. *Etwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ! (*or however you spell it !)

1. I love Eddie Ravens voice. Clear and sweet. His songs address lifes events without being sappy. Just a hint of cajun influence to make it perfect. A+

1. Another outstanding DCC title. If you like Little Feat, Dr. John, The Meters, Zydeco or funky slash boogie music in general, this should be right up your alley.

1. This is a nice, peaceful worship CD. I play it for my newborn grandson while he's sleeping. It is so calming and relaxing. It's great for when I need to find my own quiet place.



2. This is a decent attempt, it is ok. But I would have to honestly say that no amount of studio engineering can provide the kind of energy that thousands of worshipers provide that is present in their live albums. I do know that they start their conference recordings live and then take them back to the studio to fix up anything that needs fixing. But this album is missing something, this lacks something essential that I have come to expect from Hillsong.

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, THEN DON'T CHECK OUT HIS 1998 AUDIOQUEST RELEASE "GOIN BACK HOME". IF YOU TRULY ARE A BLUES GUITAR FANATIC AND ARE CONTINUALLY SEARCHING FOR WHO IS MAKING THE BEST BLUES TODAY, YOU WILL FIND THAT SHERMAN DELIVERS SOME KICKASS BLUES AND YOU WILL WONDER WHERE THIS MAN HAS BEEN HIDING. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF A FIRST CLASS BACK UP BAND AND SUPERIOR SOUND QUALITY. WHAT ELSE COULD YOU ASK FOR. DON'T BELIEVE ME AND DON'T GO OUT AND GET IT.

1. This really is the best of cajun country! This is the best example of cajun music that I have yet to find! It has some great cajun hits from some great cajun artists! This album got me into cajun music alot and if you are wondering what cajun music is like then get this album because it is a great starter! This compilation really shows the spirit of cajun culture. It is an excellent addition to your collection of any music!

1. I have been listening to Cajun and Zydeco music for thirty years, and have visited South-West Lousiana and heard the real stuff flowing from the ground, so to speak. This CD, with the exception of one track, is an appalling travesty of all that is great about the musical traditions of SW LA, traditions which have survived largely intact well into the late 20th Century, but, if this album is any indication, are showing signs of the worst kind of commercial exploitation by people who have lost touch with the true soul and purpose of this music.
   The one exception is track no.16,'O Yal Quoi Faire' by J.J. Miteau, which is a good example of a traditional Cajun trio (accoustic guitar, triangle and fiddle) playing a 'two step'.
   This CD is 'rock-cajun', and bad, imcompetent rock at that;read 'caberet rock'.
   If you want contemporary Cajun, try Balfa Toujours, Steve Riley & Mamou Playboys or Beausoleil.
   If you want the real hard stuff, try Nathan Abshire, Iry Lejune, Isom & Canray Fontenot, Clifton Chenier or Cleveland Crochet.
   But don't buy this CD, unless you want to hear an example of culture in decline.



2. I listened to this C.D. Itis very outstanding for Cajun music I"ve just started listening to cajun music in the past few weeks I feel its very soothing to listen to and I would like to tell everyone who hasn't doesn't know what they are missing.
