5 comments about Warm and Tender.

  1. I have twin girls, now almost 12. Catherine Grace and Olivia Joy listened to this CD every night for the first year of their life--and have seen many, many of Liv's concerts. They own two of Liv's earrings (Olivia herself has one set; we have the other sets). Nothing like getting a cell call from her secretary or an honor or letters or a call during church choir. Hooray!

  2. I've been waiting for a long time to hear Olivia sing some classic standards and she does it with such grace and artistry. Her rendition of YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE is one of the best I've ever heard. Heartfelt and sincere. WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR has never sounded better. This is a gorgeous CD with lush arrangements and Olivia has never sounded better.

  3. With her flawless, crystal clear voice full of emotion Olivia delivers one of her most beautiful, though under-rated, projects of her stellar career. Stunningly arranged, orchestrated, and sung this album presents timeless standards such as The Way You Look Tonight, Twelfth of Never, and an exquisite version of Over the Rainbow. Though intended to be a "lullaby" album, which it completely succeeds at being, one wishes Olivia would have dropped such songs as the child friendly Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for more pop classics. Other stand-out selections are You'll Never Walk Alone, Jenny Rebecca, When You Wish Upon a Star, and the adult contemporary Reach Out For Me. Olivia closes the set with just a tease of the Brahms Lullaby which will make you take a deep breath, close your eyes and wish for more, more, more...a lovely, stunning collection of songs sung by a truly great singer.

  4. I've loved Olivia's voice since grade school. She shines on this album. Singing many children's favorites and old standards, her voice is smooth, silky, and soothing throughout. This is a perfect nocturnal selection, and it's a superb and thoughtful choice for any mother-to-be or new mother.

  5. I have always been a huge sucker for a relaxing lullaby, as well as uplifting childrens music. While I don't have any children of my own yet, I enjoy providing care for little ones at my church and this is a CD that I would definitely keep in the nursery. The first song - Jenny Rebecca - was the only one that I was not fond of. Being a fan of Olivia Newton John's performance in "Grease" it was interesting and wonderful to hear her voice in such a "Warm and Tender" environment.

4 comments about Gospel Bible Songs.

  1. I was concerned that the children's bible songs I grew up with would get lost in the shuffle. So when I found this CD I was ecstatic. I am totally satisfied.

  2. My 5 yr old loves this CD, he took it to school and likes to sing along in the car

  3. Bought this for my neice and nephew and they can't get enough of it. They absolutely love it.

  4. We got this CD for my daughter when she was about 6 months old. We really like it, but more importantly she really likes it. It's great to look in the rear view mirror and see her kicking her feet with the music.

A couple of the songs are different from the versions I learned in Sunday School so many years ago, but overall this is a good collection. We are very pleased with it, as is our little girl.

5 comments about Veggie Tales: Veggie Tunes, Vol. 2.

  1. My 2 year old daughter received this for this past Christmas, as she LOVED the original Veggie Tunes. Another hit has been found. We listen to Veggie Tales almost everywhere: car, home... Wherever we are, nearly all of the time. She just loves them and this CD helps keep her happy. She has even begun reciting large chunks of some of the songs-and asks for particular ones again and again. I recommend this to any fan of VeggieTales.

  2. This CD has great songs from several episodes of the Veggie-Tales series. My one complaint is that the actual "Bunny Song" was not included (so what if it's evil? They have Mr. Lunt's song in the third collection).

  3. We are Jewish, but I still love this album. There is no mention of Jesus or Christianity, it's just good clean fun. The only thing that made me slightly uncomfortable was a theme in one song of "if you believe G*d will protect you" Great music, funny for adults & kids.

  4. If you or your children are VeggieTales fans you'll enjoy this collection of some of the VeggieTales' classic songs.

It includes the VeggieTales theme song as well as such memorable Silly Songs as "I Love My Lips", "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything", "The Song of the Cebu", and "The Dance of the Cucumber."

In addition, it features songs from "Josh and the Big Wall," "Larry-Boy", and "Rack, Shack and Benny" such as the beautiful Broadway-like "Think of Me" lullaby.

This is a great CD for listening to in the van on car trips. Not only will your children be singing along, but you'll find yourself singing and laughing as well.

  5. My niece is a huge fan of the Veggietales. I have to admit that I like them too. Veggietales are educational and fun. Bob the tomato and Larry the Cucumber have such a way of teaching kids the Bible stories. The songs are too cute. One of my favorite songs is The song of Cebu. Veggietales are something that the whole family can enjoy.

5 comments about Christmas Like a Lullaby.

  1. Any CD John Denver sings on is a beautiful CD. This is a must for anyone collecting Christmas CD's or John Denver music. The songs are absolutely beautiful for any time of the year!

  2. John Denver typical in "Christmas Like A Lullaby", along with other holiday favorites make this easy listening.

  3. can't go wrong with any John Denver recording but this cd is not the original 13 track product released in 1990. it only has 10 tracks. this practice is totally frustrating and i would like to know why it is done. others on the web have also expressed irritation with this practice. i want original material and when you think you have found it you find it's not the case. if it's a money issue, i would gladly pay more to get the original product. the same thing happened on Denver and the Muppets Christmas recording. can this practice be stopped? this would have been an easy 5 rating if it were all there!

  4. This wonderful album by John Denver is one of my favorite Christmas albums, and for good reason; it serves up both John as well as a lovely selection of traditional Christmas songs, which renders it into a terrific family listening experience. The inimitable Mr. Denver is in top form here, and his selection of songs and arrangements is perfect. Many of these songs are timeless, and a few like "Christmas Like A Lullaby" are very special songs written by John himself. John's voice is in perfect pitch as he soars through "First Noel'", "Away In a Manger", "White Christmas", "Jingle Bells", an interesting interpretation of Elvis Presley's famous "Blue Christmas', along with "Marvelous Toy", "Rudolph The Red Nosed reindeer", and a wonderful cover of "Little Drummer Boy". He seems so very much at peace and happy as he sings all the songs on this album, and it is a comfort to those of us who considered him a special person and entertainer to still have him around with wonderful seasonal albums like this as well as all the more popular albums he left behind as his personal legacy to a grateful world. He has been gone for almost a decade now, but with albums like this to share with millions of kindred souls, John Denver will never be forgotten. Peace!

  5. I purchased this CD when it was first released and has been a family favorite ever since. The title song, written by John, reminds us all that wherever we are, the spirit of Christmas stays with us, for we are always home when we are with the people we love. The guitar and falsetto vocal parts of this song always make me tingle and bring tears to my eyes because they are so beautiful. Other songs on the album are equally as pleasurable.

Children seem to enjoy listening to this CD as much as they enjoy A Christmas Together with the Muppets - especially the songs: Jingle Bells, Marvelous Toy and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.

I highly recommend this CD to anyone but especially to true John Denver fans. It's wonderful!

5 comments about Veggie Tales: Veggie Tunes.

  1. Though some of these songs were new to us, all were great, fun songs of the same high quality we've come to expect from Veggie Tale products.

  2. What better way to have fun and sing praise then with 2 vegetables!

  3. My 2 year old loves the veggietales. We let her watch one show a day-and she asks for particular songs ALLLLLL of the time. She loves this CD! The only drawback of the Cd is it seems short-and after repetitively listening to it over and over-I'm beginning to get sick of it. But, my daughter still loves it-so play it we will.

  4. My preschool-aged children and I love this CD. We listen to it every day in the car. As each song starts, one of my kids shouts "This is my favorite!" (They have lots of favorites.) The songs are so catchy that my kids sing the songs when the CD isn't even on. Larry's silly songs are hilarious -- the water buffalo song and the hairbrush song.

I do wonder how the presumably adult singers get their voices to sound like that. Each singing character has perfect intonation for what they're trying to convey -- from the mean wise men who got Daniel in trouble to Junior Asparagus who asks "Why do you need a hairbrush? You don't have any hair."

Let me put it this way: I'm 36 years old, and I find myself smiling and singing along. It's a hoot!

  5. My children received this CD as a Hanukkah gift. What a wonderful gift it was! They love the music with it's catchy tunes and sometimes hilarious lyrics and I love the message that it sends. I originally thought that Veggie Tales was not appropriate for my family since we are Jewish and Veggie Tales are Christian-based. I now realize I was wrong. Yes, they are based on Christianity and some videos may mention Jesus, but the basic message is one about being a good person and respecting God's word. There is nothing on this CD which is specifically Christian, just Judeo-Christian in the sense that there is one God.

Who can resist such Monty Python-ish tunes as "Where's My Hairbrush" in which the cucumber is distressed about his missing hairbrush only to find out that it was given to the peach because, well because he HAS hair. And "We are the Grapes of Wrath" (who never take a bath) is one of my personal favorites. My kids (ages 2 & 4.5) really love tracks 4-8 about Daniel in the Lion's Den. My 4-year-old makes up verses about what's going to happen to Daniel.

Any child and parent would be pleased with this CD unless they are atheists or believe in more than one God.

5 comments about More Sunday Morning Songs with Bob and Larry.

  1. You just can't go wrong with Veggie Tales. Bob & Larry are funny and the tunes are catchy. You'll both be singing them around the house. Also provides a good reinforcement of Bible stories throughout the week. Fun learning.

  2. I love theses songs almost as much as my children! Very catchy and with a good message!

  3. Vegiie Tales really reaches all age groups. I use this for for a babies and toddlers group and they love the songs as much as the adults that help with group.

  4. I love VeggieTales. The kids have so much fun with the songs. We do praise every morning before school; a great way to start the day.

  5. This CD as well as all the other Veggie Tale products are great. My 4 and 1 year olds love to sing and dance with the silly music.

5 comments about Toddlers Sing.

  1. I bought this CD for my 14 month old grandson. I've been singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him since the day he was born and introduced him to "Wheels on the Bus" - both on this CD. He loved hearing those familiar songs. My daughter reports that he loves it and so does she! The little voices are genuine, soothing and so sweet!

  2. I found this cd, and the toddlers sing rock cd, highly annoying. My daughter was not very enthusiastic about it either since it lacks the musicality she is used to in her other cds.

  3. Toddlers singing is the absolute best. My grandaughter loves this cd. I wish we had more of this. It gets difficult with only one. Please make more.
    Sincerely,
    Grace Purcell

  4. I bought this CD and played some songs I liked.
I understood their words. It sounded like Apee Borte 2 U . What?????

  5. I drive my toddler to and from school every day. Before this CD I would arrive at work with a dry mouth from singing with my toddler. Now, I just pop in the CD and let her sign along. She loves it (sometimes I find myself singing along too). The songs are all great. The children singing are incredible and my toddler has learned most the songs. I definitely recommend this CD to any parent.

5 comments about Follow That Bird.

  1. got this to get even with my daughter. hopefully my granddaughter wants to listen to it as often as my daughter did when she was little. i still remember most of the songs!

  2. I loved this movie when I was a kid, now it's my daughter's favorite! Timeless, sweet songs.

  3. I grew up with this movie and hearing the songs brought back the awesome childhood memories. "One little star" and "I'm so blue" brought tears to my eyes. "Upside down world" on the other hand cracked me up. I didn't think about it much when I was little, but when Ernie and Bert flew that airplane upside down I don't think they realized that they were asking for certain death. lol

The only downside is there are monologues for a lot of the songs and I'm not really into that kind of thing. Plus the "One Little Star" song starts one minute into the track.

  4. I may be 18 now but I grew up on this movie and the soundtrack is a great addition to any cd library

  5. You don't have to be five years old to enjoy this kind of music. This CD appeals to every person of any age. Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of listening to this amazing soundtrack from the equally amazing movie. Every song is perfectly appropriate, and you'll be happy to know that none of these songs are too babyish either.

Probably the best song on the whole soundtrack is "Easy Goin' Day". Very catchy tune, with catchy and yet squeaky-clean lyrics. Not every song on the soundtrack is happy, though. The song "I'm So Blue" is enough to make anybody want to cry. Altogether, the CD has just the right balance of happiness and sorrow.

Make sure you check this CD out sometime. You'll be glad you did.
