4 comments about Musical Beans: Animal Songs for Children.

  1. Musical Beans is a great collection of songs that kids of all ages will love. Grown-ups, too, will enjoy listening to it, even when their kids play it over and over, which they undoubtedly will.

Each song tells an engaging story, and the singers are great! Your kids will have lots of fun singing along and acting out the stories.

I highly recommend this CD - I am ordering extra copies to give as gifts to my friends with kids of all ages.

  2. As a singer/songwriter and a mother of 2 young children, I am always for fun children's music to help get my kids excited about music. I bought this CD on a whim, and it has become the favorite CD in our house for the last 6 months. My 2 kids, aged 3 1/2 and nearly 2, sing along with the songs, and act some of them out, too. The songs are all extremely well crafted, from composition to performance and production. Several of them sound like they are from Broadway shows, with well-developed characters and excellent voices cast to portray them. Each song tells a story from an animal's point of view, and they are all imaginative and entertaining for adults as well as children (how rare that is!). Our current favorite tracks are "We Go Racin' Ev'ry Morning", "Stripes 'N Spots 'N Teeth", "The Only Goldfish in Jamaicaland", and "Roar", which is about a vegetarian lion who is also a chef (trained in France...Lyons!). "Co-Co-Coconuts" is also a hit with my not-quite 2-year-old, who loves the vocalese chorus that even she can sing along with (and she does, gleefully...at the top of her lungs!).

The only song on the album that we are not crazy about is "Plush", which is a rather over-amped disco song that is, unfortunately, reprised and remixed at the end of the CD. This song seems like a departure from the rest of the collection in quality and style, but Musical Beans is still overall the best children's CD I have heard in several years.

  4. As an elementary music teacher I am always looking for new and educational resources to add to my curriculum. Last school year Musical Beans was all I needed. Being most popular with Kindergarten and First graders, this album was a hit. Cd Track number 4 "The Only Goldfish In Jamaicaland" not only provided a fun melody and story for the students to listen to, but also helped in teaching the difference between high and low notes. Cd Track number 3 "Stripes n Spots n Teeth" was an excellent song to allow children to listen to and act out. Every song on this album taught a wonderful lesson to students of all grades, as it helped them learn how to listen to a song a understand the story, in turn teaching them how to communicate a song to their audience. Used in my classroom for Kindergarten through Fourth Grade this album made my school year a lot more fun. I HIGHLY recommend this to school teachers and parents alike.

  1. This cd is okay for a toddler. There are some really great and upbeat songs that my daughter loves and some we just skip through. For the price it's recommendable and the songs are all very positive for children.

  2. This is a very good CD for Kids. I have all "Cedarmont Kids" CDs and DVDs and its a really good production with nice music, lyrics and songs. These are our family favorite and will be yours soon if you get it. Highly recommended.

  3. Beware! The packaging and reviews do not indicate that there are numerous Christian content songs on this CD. "Jesus" songs are not synonymous with children's music and should not be packaged and marketed as such.

  4. I bought this for my baby granddaughter to listen to. I sing along and she laughs. The songs are mostly all old familiar children's songs that I used to sing to my own children. The words are sung by children in a very charming way. About every 5th song there is a sweet Christian song, but most are traditional nursery songs. Highly recommended.

  5. My 2-yr old Grand Daughter, who I bought this for, loves it! My Grand Son, who is 10, really enjoys singing and acting the songs out with her in the car. I am very happy with this CD.
    Thank-you.

5 comments about The Amazing Spider-Man: A Young Hero's Beginning.

  1. I'm a collector of SuperHero memorabilia and thought I would give some information regarding the CD. The tracks were originally released by Golden Records in the mid to late 60's and are a word for word reading from Spider-Man #1. A reprint of the book came with the record. The "Turn the Page" alert has been removed, but all other references to the comic are still on the CD.
Golden Records didn't put much in the way of production value into their children's records. The acting is stiff. The sound effects are a bit hard on the ears. The CD's one saving grace is that it's fairly easy to find reprints of the comic. If your a fan of old superhero book & records, then you'll enjoy the CD. Otherwise, give it a pass.

  2. It's not a rip off movie if Stan Lee is the executive producer, much less if he's staring in it albeit in small role, then its just a retelling, and a dang good one at that considering he's one of the main creator's. That and Sam Raimi is a director who is actually a BIG fan of the comics not just some director who wants to cash in on a franchise/trademarked superhero.

But what I really wanted to mention is that the original 60' "Origin of Spiderman" episode is on DVD with the "Ultimate Villian Showdown" that is a rerelease of the FOX kids series that came out a few years back. It's well worth getting, especially since it has that old .

  3. This is a nifty reissue of one of the old Spidey story records from the late '60s and early '70s ... at least, it sounds like it. It's a lot of fun, especially for younger kids learning to read, and Spidey is a very kid-friendly superhero.

Just one thing: I'd like to know how that other guy knows that the 'Sam Raimi rip-off' movie is bad when it hasn't even been released. I suppose some of us have special powers to see into the future. Or maybe his Spider-sense has warned him. It looks like a lot of fun to me.

  4. This CD seems pretty bad to me, but I suppose if you're a Spidey fanatic AND don't mind things cheesy, you might like it...if advance clips and reports are anything to go by, it looks to be the greatest superhero movie ever...

  5. This CD is like those Spider-Man, 6 Million Dollar Man, G.I. Joe action adventure records from Peter Pan Records that we all had as kids back in the 70's. I think this recording came from the late 60's. The sound and voice acting are ok, but typical of this type of recording. The effect that they used for Spider-Man's voice is weird!
I don't know why they did that, but it's still Spidey and it's better than the stupid Sam Raimi rip off movie. I like my copy and enjoy listening to it while surfing or working online.

4 comments about Jack Lemmon Tells the Tale of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf.

  1. I think this is a great learning CD for kids and it's great for adults too! And who can resist Jack Lemmon?!

  2. My two year old son loves to listen to this CD and asks for it over and over again. The music and the story told by Jack Lemon keep his attention.

  3. I begin my review by saying that the Prague Festival Orchestra and Jack Lemmon did an excellent job recording Peter and the Wolf. However, The Toy Symphony left a lot to be desired. I could not listen to it because it was so terribly recorded. The recording had too much treble and I could not adjust my stereo equipment to compensate.

I suggest you purchase the David Bowie narration of Peter and the Wolf. It was quality recording all the way through.

2 comments about Story Time: 52 Favorite Lullabies, Nursery Rhymes and Whimsical Songs.

  1. My kids loved this CD when I bought it and still request it in the car! Lots of kids songs, many funny to sing with - many lullabies included too. Great for long trips when you need something to pacify them besides brain mushing videos.

  2. I wish I would have listened to the samples before purchasing this cd. As far as quality goes, including the voices of the singers, it simply does not sound professional.
