- Wonderfully politically incorrect (check out Tiki Tiki Timbo), Hey Kids! references a time when all kids lived with two parents and a backyard filled with bluebirds. Backed by champagne-bubble orchestrations the songs sparkle and shine and Shari's puppets are charmers--even this early brain-dead incarnation of Lamb Chop and a Wing Ding who is virtually indistinguishable from Shari herself. The combination of dialogue, word play and songs proved to be a winning formula for Lewis and 50 years later this album still delights. But don't expect songs you can sing to right away. These complex, wordy pre-Barney tunes linger in the heart but not in the mouth.
- I listened to this record as a child and loved it...so when I saw it had been re-released I had to buy it. And it holds up great. Today's young kids will still find Shari and her cast of puppets amusing and fun to listen to. The song arrangements are well done and there is plenty of humor and hummable songs to listen to. Whether you're revisiting your own childhood...or giving this as a gift to a member of the newest generation, your money is well spent.

- I'm a collector of SuperHero memorabilia and thought I would give some information regarding the CD. The tracks were originally released by Golden Records in the mid to late 60's and are a word for word reading from Spider-Man #1. A reprint of the book came with the record. The "Turn the Page" alert has been removed, but all other references to the comic are still on the CD.
Golden Records didn't put much in the way of production value into their children's records. The acting is stiff. The sound effects are a bit hard on the ears. The CD's one saving grace is that it's fairly easy to find reprints of the comic. If your a fan of old superhero book & records, then you'll enjoy the CD. Otherwise, give it a pass.
- It's not a rip off movie if Stan Lee is the executive producer, much less if he's staring in it albeit in small role, then its just a retelling, and a dang good one at that considering he's one of the main creator's. That and Sam Raimi is a director who is actually a BIG fan of the comics not just some director who wants to cash in on a franchise/trademarked superhero.
But what I really wanted to mention is that the original 60' "Origin of Spiderman" episode is on DVD with the "Ultimate Villian Showdown" that is a rerelease of the FOX kids series that came out a few years back. It's well worth getting, especially since it has that old .
- This is a nifty reissue of one of the old Spidey story records from the late '60s and early '70s ... at least, it sounds like it. It's a lot of fun, especially for younger kids learning to read, and Spidey is a very kid-friendly superhero.
Just one thing: I'd like to know how that other guy knows that the 'Sam Raimi rip-off' movie is bad when it hasn't even been released. I suppose some of us have special powers to see into the future. Or maybe his Spider-sense has warned him. It looks like a lot of fun to me.
- This CD seems pretty bad to me, but I suppose if you're a Spidey fanatic AND don't mind things cheesy, you might like it...if advance clips and reports are anything to go by, it looks to be the greatest superhero movie ever...
- This CD is like those Spider-Man, 6 Million Dollar Man, G.I. Joe action adventure records from Peter Pan Records that we all had as kids back in the 70's. I think this recording came from the late 60's. The sound and voice acting are ok, but typical of this type of recording. The effect that they used for Spider-Man's voice is weird!
I don't know why they did that, but it's still Spidey and it's better than the stupid Sam Raimi rip off movie. I like my copy and enjoy listening to it while surfing or working online.

- I was introduced to the Banana Slug String Band via their "Slugs at Sea" CD -- an outstanding album. This CD, the 2nd one of theirs that we bought, is also good, but not quite on par with "Slugs at Sea."
My children like this CD, but it doesn't get them singing quite the way the other one did. The songs are interesting, and they have a good message about the environment. This band shows a good range of flexibility in their musical style, lyrics, and presentation without being bogged down in pastels and fluff that often fills much of music made for children. This is a CD that my children AND I can listen to. A fun CD to be sure, and full of good science too! I hope that Elementary school teachers out there know about this group! Alan Holyoak
- Our five year old son loves it. However, he seems a little frustrated when he can't totally hear all the lyrics in a song, especially the Nose song. (We can't figure out what animal they are speaking of in one verse.) :-(Why are the lyrics not included? It seems like a must, especially for childrens' sakes. A lot of children may like to know exactly what is being sung/said so they can learn from it and sing along. Comprende?
- Teachers will love this CD (or anything by the Banana Slug String Band). The songs are terrific for science instruction, particularly in environmental studies, habitats, animals, and adaptation. Friendly melodies, great lyrics. My students love these songs.
- The only CD for my 4-year-old that I can listen to more than a few times. Nice tunes in all kinds of styles from Beach Boys to hip hop to techno. Good eco-friendly lyrics to teach about nature, as well.
