1. I love this recording ("Classiks on Toys,"ISBN #B00005AVIB). You won't believe what it is: a recording of all or parts of various works by several classical musicians: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and more. Impeccably played...are you ready?...on toy instruments--piano, wind, percussion, etc. Can you imagine the "Toccata and Fugue for organ in D minor" by Bach, played on a toy piano? How about "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel? It's not just that it can be done--NO! It's how well it's done. Several of the pieces are actually thrilling--although frustrating because the excerpts are too short!!
   OK, OK--I guess it's charming in part because it's unorthodox and a little poke to music snobs out there doesn't hurt, and it is for kids, after all. But the music itself is lovely and--bravo!--well played.
   This recording has more humor and verve than another recording by Lafond with a similar title (also called "Classiks on Toys"--note the "k" in "Classiks"), but is all Tchaikovsky, including excerpts from The "Nutcracker." It's OK, but for me it doesn't reach the same heights.

This a really beautiful cd that has renditions of very famous classical music songs done in an acoustic/spanish guitar style...... it's very soft and sweet.....We use it to put our 9month old down for naps and bedtime and he loves it and we love it too..... what is nice is that the way the renditions are made, it doesnt sound exactly like the original, but close enough that u would recognize it, but far enough that it takes on a life of its own!

1. I have had this cassette for years. I recently lost it and I love it so much that I am going to buy the CD. The songs are festive and absolutely wonderful at Christmas time. I would recommend it to anyone who loves the flavor of Latin music.



2. I bought this for my seven year old son a few weeks ago, and he absolutely loves it!! He listens to it in the car and hardly pays much attention to anything else. It has really inspired to take Spanish as a second language, and is setting a great example for his future. It has really active music that is relaxing and breathtaking. There's nothing that anybody would find offensive to young children. This music is truly calm and will slow down mean, hyperactive people.

5. The spirit of Christmas is truly conveyed as a spiritual experience especially if you don't speak Spanish(or Portugese). Some of the greatest recording artists in Latin America really put the spirit of the holidays in this compilation of holiday music. For the Spanish speaker the experience is even more magical. You quickly realize there's no place like home for the holidays at interpreted in Veronica Castro's version of Ven a Mi Casa Esta Navidad aka " Come to My House this Christmas". A real tear-jerker.

1. I found out about this cd this year at school when my teacher put it on while we had quiet reading. When I first heard it, I LOVED it so much! I asked what it was called and she told me Baby Genius Nature's Lullybye. But, it was actually experience. Still, I love hearing it and I am thinking about purchasing it soon.



2. This is the most beautiful collection of background music I have ever heard. I like to fall asleep to it or listen to it when feeling stressed. And I'm 17 years old. Absolutely amazing!



3. Simply put, this is the most beautiful compilation of music I have ever heard. My mom actually took a chance on this CD when she found it in a bargain bin at Target a few years ago. I borrowed it and liked it so much I've purchased it for every friend who's had a baby since! I've never been completely sold on the whole "baby genius" phenomenon, but this CD does an amazing job of calming and soothing fussy little ones (and their parents too!) during diaper changes, at naptime and, most importantly, at bedtime.

   Most children's music CDs typically feature similar rehashed tunes, however his CD truly stands apart from the rest. Each song blends an exquisite instrumental with a variety of environmental sounds like a babbling brook, lapping ocean waves, thunder storms, soft rain showers and birds chirping. What's great is that neither the sounds nor the music overpower each other, in fact they seem to be paired to perfectly compliment each other. And although I've listened to this CD countless times since my son's birth nearly a year ago, I haven't tired of hearing it and still love each and every song on it (even though I really wish Baby Genius would create a Nature's Experience: Volume II with more of the same!)

1. I remember sitting around my basement listening to this record flipping through the comic book on the cover. Now that I have a daughter, I had to search for it and others I remember like Music Machine, Bullfrogs and Butterflies, and the Psalty the Songbook series.



2. This was a GREAT childhood memory - listening to this story and singing a long with the catchy tunes. My siblings and I are now all in our teens and twenties and this evening we happened to be all together . . . this album came up in our conversation and we were all laughing over the great memories from listening and enjoying this great recording. I am so excited to see it's now on CD - I'm orderig it today!

   P.S. You haven't lived until you've heard the dog, Smuggles, sing about havin' those "doggy blues". You'll be smiling before the first sentence is over and laughing when the last note finally dies away.




3. I used to listen to this record with my siblings all the time. It is an all-time favorite with its catchy tunes and memorable characters. We lost our record and when I found another recording on Amazon.com, I was elated. This story is that great.

5 comments about Baby's First: Playtime Songs.

1. I have had this CD since my first Grandson was born in 2001. I now have four Grandsons and none of us are bored with it yet! This includes my youngest (9 weeks). We listened and sang with it for the first time on Friday and I got two "gummy" grins from him. I like the songs selected as they are not the "same old-same old" as you see on children's CD after CD. I also like the fact that, since I believe the singers are Australian, the words to songs we do know are not always the same as in the USA. In addition, I think it is extremely important to expose children at an age as young as possible to different accents and languages. I'm back at Amazon to order another of the same for my Daughter-in-Law to have at home.



2. We enjoy the songs on this CD. I was a little thrown when I played the first song, I'm a Little Teapot and it was sung by singers with a heavy British accent.



3. The vocals were grating and irritating, the accompanying music/instruments were terrible, my babies hated it.



4. This CD was perfect for singing and dancing with my son. We've been enjoying it literally since day 1! He's now 7 months old and we still love it. I'm sure we'll still enjoy it for years to come. Most of the classics I remember from when I was a kid are on this CD. The music is upbeat and simple. The perfect first CD for any little one!



5. As a parent you will love this as much as your children. The music doesn't "play down" to kids' ears. Rather it is a strong collection of classic songs with new compositions that will have you playing it over and over again. The whole family will be singing along and strumming the fiddle and banjo. And for even more enjoyment, there is a Playtime Songs video that covers the same material with outstanding animation. This is our number one gift of choice to parents of toddlers.
