5 comments about Christmas Favorites.

  1. I downloaded these songs and the song titles did not even match the songs. The childrens songs were cute but the adult voices which joined in ruined the few decent songs on the album. Definately not an album you would listen to more than once and some songs you will skip over within the first verse!

  2. A big disappointment. I can only reiterate the other negative review. The song "Mary Did You Know" I would not want to hear more than once in my lifetime. Distasteful.--though, once again, the kids like it. I tell them I don't and we can't hear it. I find it unbearable.

  3. This is one of the best Christmas CD's I've heard in a long time. It's varied and that's why I like it. My daughter also likes it because it has children singing and she can relate better to that than some of the orchestrated Christmas CD's with a Tenor singing O Holy Night. Some of the voices on this CD are absolutely beautiful especially "Angels we have Heard on High". "Jingle Bells" and "Rudolph" are just plain fun. I really enjoy this CD and like it better than most anything else out there. I will probably keep it for a long time.

  4. On the plus side, the children like the songs sung by kids, which is why I bought, but this children singing is not the best.

It's a hodge podge of voices and styles. I like the songs that have a gospel feel; however, all the different voices all over the place, and the ad libbed words, and the arrangement, and the tempo, and just everything is a big disappointment.

It's just more of the crappy music one hears all over the place at Christmas time in the stores, which makes one weary of it all.

Nothing beautiful here, or even good for your children's musical ear.

They really spoil the 12 days of xmas. There are two silly adult voices, and two small unintelligible children whose singing lacks any musical quality.

    Forget this one.

  5. There are a variety of singing styles on this recording. Some are fast paced and others are slow and mellow. Somehow it doesn't flow well, the collection seems jumbled and awkward.

"Jingle Bells" opens with a chorus sung by a toddler then goes into a chorus of children singing; it has a very fast tempo and is nerve-wracking. Rudolph the Reindeer is the "revised" version where there are additional lyrics such as "all of the other reindeers used to laugh and call you names--like silly head", etc. Adults sing some songs in a serious manner, some are young children (with not-superior singing voices) singing solo, and others are sung by choruses of children. Some songs have dialogue by Santa and children mingled inside of each song in between verses. Some songs are fast paced and almost nerve-wracking while others are slow, quiet and purely classical in nature.

I find that my children prefer the songs that are a fast tempo that are sung by the children while I like the quiet more classical songs sung by adults. The kids ask me to skip over the songs I enjoy and to repeat songs such as "Jingle Bells" a million times. I am still looking for a recording of popular songs such as "Rudolph" and "Jingle Bells" which are sung by adults and are just "normal" (vs. rock stars' personally stylized versions, country versions, zydego versions, etc.).

  1. You can only listen to Jingle Bells and O Holy Night so many times. This is a fantastic CD. All my kids love this CD and so do I! We had this CD and somehow lost it, so this is my second purchase! It's got a folksy tune that is unconventional for a Christmas CD.

  2. I bought this CD so that my children could hear "The Marvelous Toy", but they LOVE the whole tape, especially "Gonna get a Christmas Tree" and How many cookies can Santa Claus eat?" Tom Paxton has the perfect voice for Children's music. but I love listening to him sing too. He's not too country and not too pop--He just gets out of the way and lets the music go sraight to your heart. We love this music, and you will too.

  1. My four-year-old son loves this CD and frequently asks to hear "Moonlight Sonata" at bedtime. I'm happy that he is starting to appreciate classical music at an early age.

  2. I am one those people that cannot sleep when I'm travelling. Even at home in my own bed it takes me a while to relax enough to fall asleep. I heard this CD when I was visiting my sister. She had the CD in the guest room and not knowing what was loaded, I just turned on the player hoping to find relaxing music. I was lucky because the CD player was loaded with several CDs that my sister used to help her child to fall back asleep when he wakes up in the night. It was great because I remember hearing just a portion of the CD when I woke up the next morning. I guess the CDs did the job. I listened to this CD along with Baby Bach and other similar CDs during my entire visit. I had no problem with falling asleep each night while I was there. I liked it so much that I'm purchasing all the CDs that she had for myself. I look forward to receiving my purchase so that I can relax and quickly fall asleep as I did during my visit to my sister. I highly recommend this as a must have for your collection even if you do not have children. My sister used it for her new born and said that it help him to quickly fall back to sleep. I feel that if it can work on me, it would help anyone to relax.

  1. If you want to turn your child off classical music forever, this CD may well do the job.
It has absolutely nothing to recommend on it.
    # 1, the volume fluctuates, and like ads on TV, the worst tracks are usually the loudest.
    # 2, many of the tracks are badly performed; ponderous, scratchy, and amateurish takes on what should be good listening, but isn't.
    # 3, there are 4 vocals. WARNING to all mothers: Baby might think this awful voice is you singing to him/her, and cause deep feelings of resentment, needing years of psychiatry to unravel.

I am a huge believer in the importance and value in what we feed our ears. Many worry about the effects of 2nd hand smoke, I preach about the dangers of 2nd hand boom-box, and the horrors and negativity of rap music. Few things are more important than what your baby listens to, whether verbal or musical, and there are many "Adagio" recordings that are expertly performed on the market that would be a pleasure for baby's ears, an education for his mind, and a joy for his soul; this CD is to be avoided at all cost. Total playing time is 50'29 dreadful minutes.

  2. I'm bobbing my head up and down with the other reviewers about the obnoxious non-lullaby tracks thrown in on this CD. After burning a new CD and leaving those tracks off, the CD is great and one of my favorites.

  3. I purchased this CD under the impression that it was all instrumental music - WRONG! Interspersed with rather lovely renditions of classical favorites -- perfect for bringing a baby to sleepyland -- are painfully perky upbeat vocal variations on a few traditional lullabies that have a tendancy to jar a baby awake! Rather antithetical to the purpose.

  4. this g-unit cd is off da hook

    i give it 3 starz

    oh classic music sux bach

  5. I saw this CD and thought it would be great for my daughter whom I like to expose to as much wonderful music as possible, particularly at bedtime. The first night I played it, I stayed in her room and listened to the first 2 songs - they were charming versions of some well-known classics. Then, I turned on the baby monitor and went into the other room.

Suddenly, my ears were accosted by the most obnoxious, laughable sound of track 3. It is a synthesized, incredibly upbeat version of Hush A Bye Baby sung by a woman with the most grating voice. The same can be said of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Frere Jacque (tracks 6 & 11). Besides being irritating, these songs are actually LOUDER than the rest of the instrumental songs and could easily jolt a sleeping baby out of slumber.

Those 3 tracks completely undermine the "Lullaby" theme. I will be burning this CD onto another CD and leaving out those 3 tracks. Had I read the reviews and seen that others had complained about these same tracks, I never would have bought it. This CD defies logic and you will be better off without it!

  1. Vraiment irritant!! On dirait que la musique à été faite avec un clavier Radio Shack! Je ne sais vraiment pas ce que cette merde fait sur un disque... Dire que la compagnie gaspille du papier et du plastique pour imprimé les ''Chips Monk!''.

  2. I am a fan of David Seville and the Chipmunks now for 35 of my 38 years and the Chipmunks are on the top of my musical listening lists . The original lp was released in 1975. 1. I bought it 8 years ago for my daughter when she turned 2, she enjoyed it for many years. Now my second will turn 2 and starts to sing his own song, I bought it again.

  2. It is a nice Collection to start for your baby . My baby girl loves to hear this collection all times .

  3. My 3 year old son has practically worn out the cassette and now we're looking for the CD. I think he likes it better than all the other kids tapes because the songs are sung by other children. Everyone knows kids relate better to other kids. He sings the songs (his version) all the time whether the tape is around or not.

  4. This cassette goes on everytime we get in the car. My girls love it. The 3 yr old knows every word and the 1 yr old is getting there.
