- Not only is Emmylou a great singer, she's an excellant songwriter...And that's quite evident on this CD...
- A few numbers are wonderfully sung. For the most part, though, this is my least favorite of all her compliations. There simply is something lacking. Her voice is crisp and clear but the selections sound twangy and way to country hillbilly to be of note.
- Emmylou Harris's album, All I Intended to Be is finally one where she is putting her own words to song. You can tell her feelings that were involved just by listening to the tracks. A good buy for any Emmylou fan.
- I love this CD. If you love EmmyLou's music like I do you will love this CD also.
- I am writing this review after my second listening of the CD. This is the only EH disc that I own but I do enjoy country music.
- Songs: easy listening; layed back (mellow); folk / ballad style. Definitely a "listening" CD vs. background music. Nothing to hum about but good if you're looking for something different, especially from her (according to the reviews).
- Recording: instrumental tracks are excellent; on some songs the voice tracks sound "recorded" and artificial. I have a fairly high-end system with good quality headphones that tend to exagerate recording flaws.
- Packaging: cardboard sleeve for disc; my disc already has small scratches and some pitting but for $10 I can live with it.

- Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss is a wonderful musical event that may be explained as a Hegelian synthesis of ostensibly opposing ideas....see http://www.aquilaarts.com/plantkrauss.html. Five stars...highly recommend it.
- Well of course both of these artist alone are musical genius. You certainly can't go wrong putting two geniuses together. I love Led Zep. and although I've never been a "fan" of Blue Grass, I have been an Alison Krauss fan. Of course this CD is closer to Blue Grass than hard rockin' Led Zep. But, it works. They work. I can't wait for their next album! (My favorite song on this is 'Please Read The Letter'. In this song is where you will find your Led Zep. "flavor".)
- Two great artists but they just croon... effort came out vapid and flat. Too Mellow.
- two people I've followed individually have made this supremely heavenly album that I simply cannot qualify; it reflects an amalgum of strange purity that exceeds a mere collaboration. Words fail me...
- A beautiful, relaxing album with plenty of interesting sounds. I've become addicted to it!

- I always loved REM but have lost interst in the last so many years. I guess the music was not what I expected but this album brings them back to their roots. It is a fun album that you can listen to over and over and will remind you of the good old days of REM
- Look I've read a lot of reviews and have listened to the record many times. It's not great and it's not bad. REM is band where you expect something different - hit or miss - its what you expect. Some songs are catchy, some are not. All in all a good effort. That's why the IPOD was invented to edit the stuff you dont want. buy it and enjoy
- It's an amazing return. And it was really refreshing to listen great rock again. I recommend it if you still love professionals and hate those insultant new cartoon-teen-so-called-bands from radio.
- There is certainly a lot of clamor being made over this clamorous wreck of a record. R.E.M may very well be the best American band thus far but not by the merits of Accelerate. This album has no texture and no depth. If, as touted, it is a return to roots it went too far, i.e. back to the formative Athen's basement years too far. But that does not even seem to be the case because though the earliest albums might have been unintelligible they were not unintelligent. And this one is as dumb as a bag of hammers. So all the claims of "back to form" are nonsense. Accelerate is simply the new millennium's "Monster" and simply an obstreperous and cantankerous dud.

- ok first off I love 3 doors down I love the better life and away from the sun. that being said comparing 17 days and this new album is like comparing metallica's master of puppets to st. anger. I don't know why these bands don't just stick with the kind of music that made them famous in the first place. anyway there is 2 songs on this album that I would listen to more than once.
- Very pleased with latest CD. Our local boys have turned out another excellent work of art. GO AMAZON AND BUY!!!!!
- I have always enjoyed their music...until this. I just can't seem to keep my eyes open and my mind focused long enough to hear what they're singing about. sure do hope they pick it up on the next one...cause this one was a let down!!!
- I bought this CD for father's day and my dad loved it. We have always been big fans of 3 Doors Down, and this album definitely does not disappoint.
- I like this album, but is seems like it was a bit rushed. Not as creative or energetic as 3DD's previous releases.

- Like all musical genres, rock has become somewhat tired and originality is often hard to find. At most, an artist sounds like a dozen other artists, and the songs on the album tend to sound alike, with perhaps one song different enough to be released as a single and then overplayed on the radio. Daughtry's album is a step above the rest, because despite a characteristic "rock voice," there is enough musical and lyrical variation on the album to keep you interested, and somehow even the 7 singles from the album are hard to overplay.
I heard Daughtry's "It's Not Over" on the 2008 Grammy nominees album, and was impressed by the soaring yet raw power of his voice, backed by heavy percussion and emotional lyrics. After hearing all of "Daughtry," from the softer pop sounds of "Home" to the jangly, riff-heavy "There and Back Again," I was left disappointed...that the album was over. An impressive debut effort, and one worth listening to for anyone who likes rock.
- You know I wasn't a big fan when he was on AI--but he has come into his own. This album is very good and I think appeals to all. Good job--now keep it up. Al
- This is an amazing album for a new artist. I'm a fan of American Idol but I wasn't a fan of his other than one or two performances. There isn't one song on this CD that i don't like. And i can understan each word he sings.. which is an accomplishment now-a-days. Am looking forward to his next CD and expect he will have grown further as an artist.
- i love this cd. Every song is good. you won't be disappointed. this cd is a A+.
- I am a big music lover and have a huge CD/ipod collection...and Daughtry is one of the best CD's I've bought in a long time. Dare I say it's as good as some of my favorite early Bon Jovi CDs? Yes, I do!!
I know some people have a hard time getting past the American Idol thing....but just do it. Daughtry is not another AI, he's a gifted and talented singer/performer. This CD is irrefutable proof. It's a good mix of rock songs- some soft, some harder, some more like ballads. But mainly, I see it as a solid rock CD. One unlike any I've heard as of recent years. I don't think there's a song on this CD that I *don't* like, but here is a list of some of my favorites: Not Over, Used To, Home, Over You, Feels Like Tonight, Breakdown, All These Lives and What About Now.
To sum this up...I can't wait for his next CD. I have a feeling that this is one band that I will be enjoying for a long time to come. I guess being voted off, paid off.

- I heard Hayes Carll on XMRadio twice and bought the CD - it's outstanding. I saw him in Tampa recently and he is funny, sincere and very talented. Buy and enjoy!!
- Hays Carl is a story teller for sure, and he has a fine eye for catching off-kilter details and nuances that make his characters seem as real as a whiff of warm beer on a morning with a bad hangover. But after half-a-dozen spins, I'm having trouble connecting with the music on "Trouble in Mind." Drunken Poet's Dream seems strangely flat despite its being collaboration with Ray Wylie Hubbard. She Left Me for Jesus wears thin after a few listens. As for everything in between, it's good, solid country with a bit of a modern flair, all well-played, but not really anything new or fresh for its genre.
And about the sound quality of this recording . . . yep, it's not up to the standards on any of the half dozen or so recordings I have from this label.
- The title I stole from another review I read of this CD. I've had this disc in heavy rotation for about 2 weeks now. Excellent stuff. More country than anything on country radio and yet still rockin' as well. If weren't for that geezer show "Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood" I would have missed out on this.
- It's nice to enjoy an album that is just plain fun with great guitar and fantastic band playing perfectly with a singer with fascinating lyrics that sometimes make me laugh out loud. If you enjoy a touch of country mixed with a touch of rock and you have a free spirit, this one is truly for you. I particularly love "She Left Me for Jesus", the humor that glides through the song of a poor fellow whose girlfriend tells him she has become saved by Jesus with him confused is pure knock out funny. And a "Girl Downtown" about a simple boy meeting simply girl with plunking guitar is another fun one that is just entertaining fun that sounds great particular with backing vocals that sound like a mature Dolly Parton. There are beautiful songs as well such as "It's a Shame" about two potential lovers that somehow just missed. I played this album several times and I have never tired of Carll's voice , he matches the empathy of whatever song he sings, joy or sorrow, he sings just the way the song writer wants it sung. My only regret is that Carll is not touring in VA!
- love hayes, just wish he'd play my way. i guess i don't have the ear like some of the other reviewers cause i didn't have sound issues.

- This was the first Seether CD that I purchased. I have rocked out to many of their other tunes and decided it was time to buy. I was not dissapointed at all! I listen to it everyday!
- awesome cd! i adore Seether & it was in great condition, & the shipping was in a very timely matter. i listen to this cd all the time!
- This review is going to be short and simple. Do you like Seether? Do you like any of the other albums? Yes? Then you'll love this one. Their Hard songs are Harder. Their soft songs are Softer, all coated in sugary pop bliss. They're still not sellouts, however. Shaun did with this album exactly what he set out in doing. He wanted a hard rock album, that everyone who loves Metal, Rock, Hard Rock and the likes, would love. He wanted an album for those people stuck listening to the shiznit on the radio could hear, like, and then start listening to other hard rock bands. he wanted a good solid album that wasnt just headbanging. Wasnt just soft acoustic whining. He did EVERYTHING. And he did a good job of it. Classics are all here waiting for you to love and sing for the upcoming years.
- I love this CD, Like a Suicide and FMLYHM are the best tracks. Seether really is a great band and very good at making a CD you want to listen to all the time.
- Great album from start to finish. I love listening to this on my way home from work, it makes the drive a pleasure. If you like rock you will love this.

- I loved the first two albums, but this one is terrible. It sounds like it was geared for females to listen to. There may be substance in the lyrics, but the vocals and music are just plain boring. I'd rather listen to something like Hootie and the Blowfish, and I hate them!
- Now i aint a religious person, 'n i despise people telling me what i should believe.
BUT i am all for rockin out with the best of them.
Shinedown has a way of making me scream along with the songs while i'm driving, i get some strange looks but who cares right?
I must say i ignore alot of the lyrics, but listening to songs such as Devour and Cry For Help, i can't help but turn it up as loud as i can and jump around the place like a duck on a hotplate!
Kudos to the Godsquad named Shinedown... great work guys... keep the good times comin
- Shinedown is a really good and versatile band. Each of their CDs have gotten better and better. This one is well worth buying. I only bought it for "Devour", however, each song, as usual, was well written and performed.
- Just picked this CD up today and am on my third listen through. I must say that Shinedown has lost its harder edge from CD to CD but they seem to gain something else. The Sound of Madness has a lot of lyrical high points. There is also a great flow to the album. However, there is one song that sticks out to me as a weaker song. Track 2, "Sound of Madness" tries to force this little line after the chorus and it doesn't fit. It then repeats it over and over.
All in all, another quality Shinedown album. I would just like to see that one song fixed up and to see Brent's vocal stretched even more, cause he has a stellar voice. Long time fans - pick it up, New listeners - the new sound will probably appeal to you if it hasn't in the past.
- This CD is awesome. I've always been a fan of Shinedown and their music, and this album doesn't let me down. It is characteristic of the band, but incorporates some new material as well. I highly recommend it!

- It amazes me how many people think that this band has had weak offerings in recent years. The Foo Fighters' previous offerings in the 2000's--2002's "One By One" and 2005's "In Your Honor" to me just further strengthened this band's amazing discography. Well, for certain, this 2007 offering continues to add to the Foo legacy, cementing this band's place as the most consistent mainstream rock band of the "post-grunge" era.
How catchy is the lead track "The Pretender"? At least one reviewer compared it to 1997's "Monkey Wrench" as an incredibly accessible single, and I would agree. Subdued verses followed by explosive choruses, a Foo trademark, make this track an absolute winner. "Let it Die" starts slow and builds, to the point that Dave Grohl is screaming by the end of the track. "Erase/Replace" continues the early hard rock vein of the album. Then comes "Long Road to Ruin"--what a modern melodic masterpiece and true highlight of the album. "Come Alive" is a typical heavy Foo anthem--somewhat similar to "Come Back" on the "One By One" album but not as lengthy.
At this point, the album mellows out a bit more overall but continues to be utterly brilliant for the most part. How simple yet good is "Stranger Things Have Happened" with the acoustic guitar strumming leading the way? "Summer's End" is another modern melodic masterpiece with stunning melodies. "Home" is a surprisingly mellow piano ballad to end the album but to me (unlike others) is not boring--just another unique way for Dave Grohl to express himself musically. There are still rockers in the second half of the album as well--such as the amusingly-titled "Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up is Running)" and the stronger anthemic "But Honestly"--another track that builds momemtum as it goes along.
Last time out with "In Your Honor", the Foos decided to divide up their sound variety into two disks--a "fast" one and a "slow" one. This time they decided to meld it all together into one cohesive masterpiece. For sure, they have succeeded in my book. Once again, the variety of sounds, tempos, and volumes of music on this album have made for an exciting and interesting rock album.
This band has proven to me once again that they can do little wrong. Strongly recommended for rock fans dating back to the '70s (like me) not to mention youngsters who just caught onto rock in the '90s. Many Nirvana fans (from where Dave of course originally came from) love this band, which makes sense. I, on the other hand, loved the guitar-based '70s rock and '80s melodic rock and was originally put off when "grunge" replaced my '80s guitar heros. None of that matters here. This band, and for sure this album, should appeal to most rock music fans of the past 30 years.
- Having weathered almost 15 years of being his own band, Dave Grohl probably has fans that don't know he was in a little band called Nirvana before the Foo Fighters were starting. Yet here he is, and the Foos have gradually become one of the best meat and potatoes rock bands in the USA. Their follow-up to the magnum opus In Your Honor finds them in superb form, incorporating the mix of elements from that album with the hard melodic chops from the classic The Colour and the Shape.
Some of that can be credited to Gil Norton, who returns to produce. But some if it also has to be credited to maturity. After all, several of the Foos are fathers now. Therefore, you have a certain viewpoint that may not have been present in 1993. The album starts with a thinly veiled political broadside ("The Pretender") and closes with the sentimental acoustic "Home" (a lyric from which the album takes its title). Packed between is the usual array of FF goodies, but the surprises are from the heavily harmonzied "Summer's End" and the instrumental "Ballad of The Beaconsfield Miners."
If you're really looking for the expected hard rocking pop thrills the Foo's excel at, it's hear in spades. Both "The Pretender" and "Cheer Up Boys" (with its infectious "stop stop stop" chorus). Consistent and solid all the way through, "Echoes Silence Passion and Grace" offers further proof that the Foo Fighters are a classic band.
- I don't know how it could be any better - Love it from start to finish, can't stop listening to it.
- It's been almost a year since E,S,P&G has run the Billboard Charts and more importantly, won the Grammy for Best Rock Album, and it remains one of my all time favorites. In my opinion, the Foo's are the best "Hard Rock" band presently in commercial existence. Track one, The Pretender is an instant favorite, in classic Foo Fighter's format, it's a quiet, demure beginning, crescendo-ing to the rocking, balls-out finish, a storyline to so many of their best songs. It won the Grammy for best rock PERFORMANCE, but it's not even my favorite song on the album.
I love the introspective, "Stranger Things Have Happened". It's the formula Grohl uses to succeed with an acoustic guitar and metronome song. We are forced to focus on the simplicity and deep introspection of his lyrical patterns. Very similar to the wonderful "Friend Of A Friend", a song he wrote early in his career while still with Nirvana. It's such a dramatic and underappreciated song. The sound of the metronome being wound and the subsequent ticking gets your attention, then comes the clean, deep acoustic guitar, carrying the simple rhythm into the lyrics. "I'm breathing in this silence like never before." We are lead into a likely wasted realationship with a disappointing outcome. "I can change, I can change, I can change, but who do u want me to be?" is the strongest line in the song, and is so symbolic of a guy trying to adapt to his mate's desires, but falling short. "I'm the same, I'm the same, I'm the same, what do you want me to be?" This solidifies the frustration felt by Dave, or the main character in this song, who has done nothing different, but apparently underperformed by the will of his suitor. That's my take on it.
"Long Road to Ruin" is my Ringtone, and I am probably responsible for selling at least 20 albums by this alone. It's most easily described as a CSNY song, but it's full of Genesis and other prog rock changes. Very refreshing and upbeat. I will end now, as I am sure that there will be others to come. I heard an interview with Dave when he said that he wanted to get out when he turned 30. I'm glad he has changed his mind. I actually like these guys better than Nirvana. Please don't kill me for that statement, I am just a bit overwhelmed with grunge and all of it's countless sound-alikes. Yes, Nirvana was a wonderful band and I was there for the whole 80's hair-band to grunge musical transformation, but this is the MOST serendipitous thing that has occurred in modern rock. Cobain's passing (Listen to "Too Cool Queenie by STP for their take on this), resulted in the formation of this amazing band. They are ever-changing, and are currently defining what AMERICAN ROCK IS in this new millenium. Tell me otherwise.
- Remember vinyl ? When we had a "Side 1" and a "Side 2" ? Well, Side 1 is great, 4 stars, by the time side 2 comes along it gets a little tired, mediocre and ideas are thin on the ground. 2 Stars for side 2.

- This is another good pop album from the Old 97's with a lot of toe tapping melodies and some great jangly guitar work. It's not as alt-country sounding as their earlier masterpieces like "Too far to Care" or "Wreck Your Life", but there's still a lot of good material on this new album. Overall, not a bad song on the whole thing, and that's saying something. For the ultimate Old 97's experience, they need to be seen live. But in the meantime as we wait for them to come back to town, this disc in the CD player will do just fine. Oh yeah, and also a thumbs up to their previous live album, "Alive & Wired".
- The boys are in fine form on this one. More solid front to back than "Drag it Up". I've always been partial to the uptempo thrashy songs from the 97's, but I have to say that I really love "Color of a Lonely Heart". This one's gonna stay in heavy rotation for a long time in my music world.
- This CD is a return to the Old 97's that I fell in love with.Drag it Up left me kind of cold. BIOG has the hooks, fantastic songwriting (from both Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond), and the solid drumming of Phil Peeples. The difference, it seems to me, is the return of guitarist Ken Bethea as a focal point on many of the songs. Songs like The Fool, Dance with Me, and particularly Ride have quitar hooks that enhance the songs tremendously. Color of a Lonely Heart is Blue is one of the most beautiful songs written in the last few years, regardless of genre. All in all, a superb CD.
- What a great CD. The songs just grow on you. They're better the 20th time through, than the 1st playing.
- Great album I just bought it and it reminded me of my favorite new album coming out which is Quicksilver with their album Live "07". So I would recommed it for sure for you guys
