1. ASNELLES-SUR-MER, France - Entertainer Alvin Chipmunk released a statement to the French press today indicating that he still strongly desires a hula hoop. In the past, Chipmunk has denied the statement by former manager, Dave David, that he was supplied a hula hoop in 1967 after demanding one in the form of a song, "The Chipmunk Song," which became a popular hit with children and teenagers.
   
   Relations between Chipmunk and David became strained in the early 1970s after a bitter accounting dispute that could not account for the purchase of a hula hoop. The dispute involved an estimated $130,000 in litigation, and ultimately resulted in David's dismissal as manager of the Chipmunk band. In the 1980s, the situation worsened when bandmates Simon and Theodore Chipmunk (no relation) left the group to pursue solo interests. Fans clamored for a Chipmunks reunion until 1996, when Simon Chipmunk was found dead in a Las Vegas hotel due to a cocaine overdose. Controversy ensued when Alvin reunited with Theodore to record a song with a vault recording of Simon in 2002 for a single song recorded for Space Jams 3, an animated film. The song was, however, a critical failure and financial disappointment, rising to only #113 on the Adult Contemporary charts. In 2003, Chipmunk relocated to France and has refused all contact from fans or the press.
   
   In a statement on his web-blog, Theodore Chipmunk stated, "I am sorry to see that Alvin still wants a hula hoop. I sincerely wish that the Chipmunks, as a group, could have moved past the whole issue. I am reasonably certain that Alvin received a hula hoop in 1967 as Mr. Davis claims, but those years are rather hazy. Regardless, I wish both Alvin and Dave all the best."

2. My daughters began listening to the Chipmunks when they were little girls. They are now 20 and we still consider that the official start of the Christmas holiday is when we watch or listen to Chipmunk Christmas.



3. when i was a little girl, my gramma had this story on record. i would listen to it every day in december cuz it seemed to make christmas more christmasy. this cd goes along exactly like the cartoon that came on tv at christmastime every year when i was a kid. it tells the story of how alvin gives his harmonica away to a very sick little boy so maybe he'll get better. when alvin finds out that he has to play said harmonica at carnegie hall he devises many different ways to make money to buy a new one. in the end everything works out, he gets a special present at the mall and is surprised at carnegie hall by a duet with a special guest. yr whole family will love this cd even if they've never heard of the chipmunks. to me, it just isn't christmas without this cd. i recommend it to anyone who grew up with the chipmunks or who's just now discovering who they are. it's a great cd that yr family will enjoy for many christmases to come.

1. This album features songs written by Dr. Seuss and sung by a male/female chorus. The songs are short and feature minimal instrumental backing. They were originally published in a book also called The Cat in the Hat Songbook. The album was recorded circa 1967. This is a fun album that will appeal to kids, especially if they have the book so they can sing along.



2. Although the CD release date may be recent, the same content was released as an LP much earlier. 1960s, or 1970's for the copy in my house growing up. The songs are still great - whimsical, memorable, and singable.

   This one is a keeper.

   Even 30 or 40 years later, you will remember them. Great for singing on the beach in the wee hours of the morning as a counterpoint to military drinking songs.




3. Great little songs for little ones. Rhyming helps them to remember and Dr. Suess is fun as well as educational.

1. I must say that I *love* this cd! I haven't become as attached to any of the other Baby Genius cds but this one is wonderful. When my daughter was first born, we listened to this cd to go to sleep every night. It soothed her to sleep every time and even better, it soothed me to sleep! I couldn't wait to turn on the cd player and would put this album on repeat so when I woke up in the middle of the night for feedings, I would still hear the melodious tunes. The music just washes over you and relaxes every part of you. My daughter is 8 months old now and when I hear this cd it reminds me of those precious days when we first brought her home and she and I would sit and rock and listen to this cd.

1. My son's kindergarten teacher introduced the class to this awesome CD and all of the kids loved it! I found out about it when my son started singing "Bad Hair Day" one morning while I was brushing his hair - and it only gets better from there. Great messages, catchy tunes . . . it was the first really good music he'd found that his parents hadn't found first! I'd recommend this to anyone.

1. This cd is really fun to listen to. It is fun silly words to great well known clssical music. My Son is 3 years old and he sits in front of the stero in total awe. Wonderful backround singing as well. I am buying 3 more for my neices and nephews. If you would like your child to have a bit of class in his or her style of music this is a good start.

   This is DVD is another great way for kids to learn to count and tell bad jokes.
   
   Elmo heads of to the count's castle where he gets to see counting and ghosts and bats and all sorts of ghouly things.
   And your wee one gets to enjoy it over and over again.
   
   One of their best!

1. I received this CD as a gift to my baby 6 years ago -- and I still love to listen to these great ensenbles every now and then.

2. What a wonderful CD!! I got this as a gift for my 8-month old son. He is a terible sleeper so I've tried all the tricks. This CD seemed to help relax him & became a great sleep cue. I play it for him everytime I put him in the crib. The arrangements are very pretty with a good mix of instrumentals. As an adult, I find it relaxing & would use it if I had trouble sleeping!
