3 comments about Children's Favorites.

  1. This CD mostly delivered what was expected of it. The only critique I have is that some of the tempos could have been cleaner, and that it should be cross-referenced by the other composers besides J. S. Bach.

  2. This is the most wonderful collection to have on 1 CD. Children from birth on up can benefit from this musical collage.
Songs from the "Nutcracker" are familiar and comfortable for many children. What child wouldn't love "March of the Tin Soldiers?"
Selections from Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" is a must in my creative movement library. Every child should be exposed to this music. Well,I believe every age should be.

  3. With total playing time clocking in at 78:04 minutes of music, you'll be paying about 6-cents/minute, which is a better bargain than long distance phone calls, and often more rewarding!

This disc is far superior than most other "Classics for Kids"-type recordings I've sampled for a number of reasons:

    1) This album was expertly engineered. The production quality on this disc is first-rate from start to finish with crisp, clear sound.

    2) The pieces were expertly picked. There is wonderful sonic variety here, spanning hundreds of years of wonderful melodies. There are orchestral pieces, harpsichord pieces, solo piano, and a piano concerto, capped off with Saint-Seans whimsical Carnival of the Animals. What kid (or adult) wouldn't love that?

    3) The performances are, without exeption, expert! The pieces were definately screened for quality as well as content. Many are simply a joy to behold. Walter Klein is a particular stand-out, almost giddily prancing through Schumann's pieces. Believe it or not, he sounds even more impressive when backed up by the always inspiring Minnesota Orchestra on Mozart's Piano Concerto #17.

In short, this album is a great album even before you factor in the great price. You and your children are almost guaranteed to enjoy every 6-cents worth!

5 comments about Baby Einstein: Traveling Melodies.

  1. We love playing this while in the car with my grandson. He is one year old and tries to sing to it and has so much fun.

  2. My baby, the dad and I love this cd! It makes car rides FUN! She relaxes and sleeps too!!!
    Whoever buys it won't regret!
Baby Einstein must know what they're doing cause it is really amazing.

  3. This tape is short and the melodies are not engaging for kids. It was waste of money.

  4. Hello everyone,
    This CD is great!
My son has ADD & when we are out & he gets Anxious I put this CD in his portibale CD player.
It seems to help him calm down & better cope with things.
I think that every parent should have this CD that has a special needs child.
Thanks so much for putting it online for people to buy.
    Thanks Again,
    A Greatfull Mom

  5. My husband and I are musicians so I inwardly groaned when we were given this CD as a gift--I'd rather play the originals rather than some synthesized kiddie version. However, on a recent road trip we got desperate when our colicky son would not stop screaming. We popped this in the CD player and it calmed him down immediately. I swear, it's like aural crack for babies. We now play it at bedtime to help calm him down and it still works. You may not love this CD, but your baby will.

5 comments about Baby Einstein: Playtime Music Box.

  1. This is music for babies, or for children, the people at Baby Einstein understand that little ears have trouble discerning multiple sounds. If you had wanted a classical music CD those are already available. But your baby needs a simple CD with only 1 or 2 instruments. It's not about whether YOU like the CD, but whether your child likes it.

  2. This CD is a must-have for our little Baby Einstein fans! My son loves this CD! From the moment when I played it the first time, a few months ago, he still loves to dance to this. I find it's great to put on while he's playing with his toys, instead of turning on a DVD or the TV, and he'll play much longer and happier.

  3. I put all my baby's toys on the floor and turn on the cd player and she gets veeery excited with this music! Excellent! Get the "Traveling with the Baby" as well cause it's very soothing in the car.

  4. This is by far the best CD in the Baby Einstein collection--it will put your toddler in hyperactive playful mode and exhaust you as you try to keep up. But for today's overweight, tv- and game- addicted children, this is great!

  5. Anything that has an Einstein in the title my twins love. I used to play this for them at night while they slept.

5 comments about Hymns.

  1. This is a favorite CD for my little kids and me to listen to together. It is a treasure today, especially since hymns are not being sung in as many churches anymore- a great opportunity for toddlers to learn ancient hymns full of truth and deep theology. The voices of the children singing are beautiful and upbeat. The price of the CD is just right!

  2. I have not received this item. I got an email stating that i would be rebated.

  3. Cute, sweet, simple hymns sung by children. The price is right (very cheap- and will make your heart smile. I bought one for myself and my brother.

  4. The selection of traditional hymns is lovely. The voices on the CD are easy to listen to over and over again. Highly suggest this CD for parents wanting to introduce their children to the songs we all grew up with singing in our pews Sunday morning!

  5. Good music for both kids and adults to listen to and sing along with.

5 comments about The Mozart Effect - Music for Babies - Playtime to Sleepytime.

  1. Purchased as a gift, but glad to receive it. Haven't listened to it myself, but I like Mozart.

  2. My baby boy just like it..... and my wife is enjoying it toooo.... It is a very soothing CD to listen to. It is definitely worth the $$...

  3. I bought the "Mozart Effect" CD and a few other classical CD's; Bach and another Mozart after my daughter was born in late 1998. We had a difficult time getting her to sleep at night and decided to try playing music to soothe her. The "Mozart Effect" CD worked every time. As soon as she heard the Toy Symphony play she would relax and just listen to the music until she fell asleep. It's been more than a year since we played the CD, and recently when she was ill, she asked to listen to "her music". It still has the same calming effect. Regardless of the controversy surrounding Mozart's ability to make babies more intelligent, I think this music is very comforting and enjoyable.

  4. I received several classical music CD's as gifts before my daughter was born, and out of all of them (also including classical CD's I had already owned) this is definitely my favorite. It stands out because it is not full of simply "traditional" arrangements but rather is very light and playful - there are all sorts of cute little chirping and whirring noises that add to it as well. It is just a lot of fun, and provides the perfect background for cuddling with your new little one.

There is one comment below from someone who thought the music was too simple and was of poor quality. I would agree that the music is very simple (not a bad thing), but disagree with the notion that it is poor quality. Anyway, this should be just one CD in a library of different types of music, classical and other, to help your child's music appreciation develop. If it happens to expand other developmental skills as well, even better!

  5. The Mozart Effect - Music for Babies is a pretty good disc. Admittedly not the best Mozart recordings around, but then my child is not exactly picky. I prefer Genie's Angels All Around as a lullaby CD but either The Mozart Effect or Angels All Around would make excellent baby shower gifts.

5 comments about Country Songs for Children.

  1. I got this CD to be used in my car when I travel with my Granddaughter who just turned 5. We see each other almost everyday and she is in my car for 10-20 min at a time. She loves all the songs. When we get to where we are going she will not let me stop the song until it is ended. She really likes the following songs Sneaky Snake, One legged Chicken, I Care, and all the others. Songs all have good value statements that a child should hear.

  2. Tom T. Hall (b. 1936) has a keen sense of how to connect to children. Most of these songs were released in the mid seventies as part of the Fox Hollow album which I was given as a young child. I recently bought this album for my three year old and she loves it as much as I did when I was her age. His songs have a timeless quality that still sound good after 35 years to both children and adults. Tom T. Hall's vocals in "Songs for Children" are easily understood and fun to listen to. Songs like "Sneaky Snake" and "The Mysterious Fox of Fox Hollow" are funny and clever. Other songs such as "I Care" and "I Feel Pretty Inside" are written to bolster children's self confidence. Tom T. Hall's storytelling quality is best evidenced in "The Story of the One legged Chicken", and while it is best described as country music, fans of all genres will find something to like. Consider this unique collection as a gift for a birthday party over toys, as I have done, and see for yourself how children enjoy Tom T. Hall's songs today, as much as they did when Mr. Hall wrote them.

  3. I really really want Saturday Morning Songs on CD, but this is great, too. Tom T. Hall's voice is so comforting and fun at the same time. I cherish my memories of Saturday Morning Songs and I can't wait to learn all the songs on Country Songs For Children with my daughter.

  4. We raised our 30 year old son on these songs and now have it on CD for our two granddaughters. Great song for sing-a-long grandparents.

  5. My mom bought a Tom T Hall album for me when I was about 7, and I listened to it all the time (I'm now 45). I looked for this music for a while and never found it when my kids were small, now I'll buy it for my grand niece and several of my friend's small children, and one for me. This is simple, good children's music. I only wish more kids would listen to this kind of stuff.

5 comments about Disney Karaoke, Volume 1.

  1. I bought this plus volume 2 for my daughter's new karaoke machine. We were very disappointed that the words were not on the screen. They love the disney songs and we will use it in the car but not for the karaoke.

  2. This CD is WILL NOT show lyrics on a karaoke screen. It is great if all you want is music. We bought it for a birthday party for my daughter in which karaoke was the main attraction. This CD has a booklet of tiny words with the lyricsDisney Karaoke, Volume 1. It WILL NOT show up on a karaoke screen. VERY disappointing.

  3. Well, I must have been tired of searching titles when I decided to purchase this one. Didn't look at the reviews carefully b/c now I see all the warnings. This is just a CD (NOT a CD+G) & I don't know how Disney markets/titles it as a kaorake anything. Half the songs are songs w/singers and half are instrumental (hence the kaorake I guess). But there are no graphics on the screen. Apparently you must look for the logo on the cover that says it has on-screen graphics or else they're not included. If it's not there, it's just a CD (despite the title). We already had a lot of the songs and I only wanted the graphics. This CD was too inexpensive to return. Annoyed...

  4. The product is good but these are NOT CD + G so the lyrics will not show up on the viewing screen of your Karaoke machine,

  5. THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT SCROLL AS DISPLAY ON TV/MONITOR.....THE CD
IS STRICTLY "AUDIO".I THINK THE DESCRIPTION OR PICTURE DOES NOT
REALLY CLEARLY STATE THAT THIS IS JUST A CD YOU CAN SING ALONG TOO...OR
    NOT A CD+G KARAOKE DISC.

5 comments about Veggie Tales: Worship Songs.

  1. Good CD, we (my kids and I) like some of the other Veggie Tales CD's better for listening to in the car, this is a good worship songs CD, though.

  2. I can honestly say this wasn't my favorite Veggietales CD. Maybe my expectations were too high when comparing it to other compilations but I found this to be lacking. The songs were done fairly well but they lacked a nice flow. Also they could have included more songs from today's charts.

Still you will enjoy this CD as you play it. It was nice to have a visit from Matt Redman. I say you should purchase this one but it probably won't get the air time that your other Veggie songs will though.

  3. My daughter heard this CD in a friend's van and loved it. She kept talking about it and wanted to get it. I talked to my friend about it and she said that it is one of the best worship CDs for kids. She liked how they explain what each song means. I actually haven't heard it since it is a Christmas present, but I am excited to listen to it.

  4. The Veggies of VeggieTales have really branched out. Not only are they doing the videos, but they now produce CD's of music not available on their videos. This is one such CD, a collection of worship songs.

Knowing how silly the Veggies can be at times, I worried that this might come across as irreverent. Then I remembered the Kids Praise albums of my youth. Can talking Veggies be any worse then a singing songbook?

The answer is no. In fact, this CD is rather devoid of story or dialogue. Bob and Larry show up to run the choir practice for Junior and the kids at church. That's pretty much it. The CD focuses on the 12 songs with just a little dialogue between them to serve as transition. As such, it only has one or two jokes in it. But since the focus is on worshipping God, I find that appropriate.

The song list looks like a collection of modern classics. We've got "God of Wonders," a calypso take on "Forever," "In the Secret," and "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever." Matt Redman shows up to lead versions of his classics "Better is One Day" and "Blessed Be Your Name."

And speaking of classics, they have some true classics here. "Thy Word" and "Seek Ye First" are from my generation. The Boyz in the Sink do a version of "You Put This Love in My Heart." And we get a jazzy version of "I Am a Promise."

On the whole, this is a good CD. It will appeal to kids and I could completely see myself loving it when I was a kid. And it's not annoying, so adults will enjoy it as well. Since I don't have kids, I won't be reaching for this CD first when looking for a worship CD, however.

  5. Another great Veggie Tales product! You just can't lose with this company.

5 comments about Bob And Larry's Toddler Songs.

  1. My daughter was ten months old when we first played this CD for her in the car, and after a month, it's already a favorite. The songs are upbeat and fun for her, and my husband and I grin through the Veggie banter. Great for traveling, or just around the house during playtime. Yeah, I feel kind of silly that I subconsciously sing all the words while I drive, but welcome to parenthood, right?

  2. i purchased this cd along with 3 others for the car when my daughter was 7 months old. she hated being in the car, and it was so stressful for me since there was nothing i could do from the driver's seat (especially since she was rear-facing at the time). none of the other cds comforted her much, but this one has been a true lifesaver. no matter how fussy she is, the minute i turn on track 1 of this cd, she stops whining and starts listening to bob and larry! it really is amazing, and i can't say enough good things about this cd. bob and larry talk quite a bit in between the songs, but the dialogue is cute and funny, even for adults (my husband likes it too). i also like how this cd introduces my daughter to some classic christian songs, such as "this is the day" and "this little light of mine." my daughter is 14 months old now and still *loves* this cd, and it has made car rides much more peaceful for both of us!

  3. My son just turned 2 and loves this cd..esp Wheels on the Bus! He knows all the words by heart! Great buy!

  4. Our 16 month old is already enjoying this CD. We got it for her for Christmas and she has had a blast listening to the songs. Although she can't sing along yet, she dances to the songs and I know she will soon be singing the words. Also, there are great little moments that adults will appreciate in this CD. It's great for being in the car and always seems to keep her occupied. We love the Christian songs on this CD - they are the type of songs I want my daughter to learn. Highly recommended!

  5. I originally checked this out from our library, but my 3 yr old son loved it so much we had to buy it for Christmas. My 18 m. old son also loves it and dances to the music. Great buy!

  3. This cd is full of great songs and resources! I was very pleased with it.

  4. I myself have not listened to the music but i bought all the bible music for my 2 oldest grandsons...they told me they like it..you know boys, not as verbal as girls. The shipment arrived on time infact earlier than expected.

  5. Excellent arrangements and excellent song choices on the CDs. Every Christian parent should have a few of the Cedarmont Kids CDs in their collection in my opinion. These are affordable and simply some of the very best of what is currently available.
