1. This little book is pretty neat. It's packed with articles from "back in the day" when the GS1000 and it's derivatives were new. There's an article about engine mods, as well as Dunstall parts and some other interesting stuff. Fun to read what the press thought of these great bikes back when they were new.

1. Bought my GSXR used with no manuals. Felt the need to be able to work on my own bike, change the oil, adjust the chain, change tires, the usual things a home handyman likes to do for his own vehicles. This book not only covered all those things, it made me feel that I could handle a complete tear down and rebuild of my bike. A very helpful and well written manual.

1. This manual provides reasonably good black and white pictures and drawings of parts to accompany detailed descriptions of teh GS850 motorcycle. Particulary good is chapter 7 that explains the changes post 1981. I am not a technician so the accuracy of certain topics may not be 100% however it is perfect for my needs. (Actually a technician that helped me was thrilled to have the manual to refer to!). The british lexicon makes some spots difficult to understand but the dictionary of synonomous terms helps you get beyond this hurdle. This manual is a must for the near antique GS850 owners.

1. My experience with the Clymer repair manuals has always been pretty much the same. They have just enough information to bail you out if you know what you're doing. I doubt a novice at motorcycle engine repair or rebuilding would be able to do a teardown and reassemble just using this manual. Still, it has useful diagrams, pictures and other information. Plus as far as manuals for bikes that old go, it's pretty much the only show in town.



2. Yet another mediocre (at best) publication from the leaders in vintage motorcycle publications. This manual, like all Clymer's, adheres to the minimalist approach of instrcutions. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly after all. The factor that weighs most heavily on the single-star rating is the total lack of a wiring diagram.
