  1. The book explains the rules to land speed racing, to make it safer. It also list the types of engins the bikes use. The book also tells where they race. Also how the trackes were established. It also tells about the saftey procaution to racing.
    Seth C

  2. I would recomend this book to all who like to race, especially motorcycles. It is meant to inform you about racing motorcycles. I tells you all of the places to race like "el mirage." It tells you the records of the fastest speeds. It tells you about the kinds of bikes and the types of engines there are that you can use. It is a great book to read if you want to learn about racing with motorcycles for top speeds. It is very informative.
    Michael L

  3. The purpose of this book is land racing. I would recomend this book to any body who likes racing motorcycle's, and landliners. This book is good for all ages to read or even have someone read it to you. They travel up to 200(MPH). When traveling at high rates of spee you have to waer special gear.

    John M

  4. Land speed racing is a race that sees whos motorcycle or strem liner car can go the fastest. There has been several records set for the fastes times and the cleanest bikes etc. There are also different clases depinding on the size of the motor and durability of the frame of the bike. The engine sizes range from 50cc to 3000cc!
    Lance M.

  5. I would recommend the bood Land Speed Racing to any young child who is infatuated with high speed racing. The purpose of the book is to inform people on facts and statistics about the book. Inside it also tells broken speed records, but at the same time it tries to send a message that no matter how fast you are going, you should always take safety precautions.

3 comments about John Penton and the Off-Road Motorcycle Revolution.
  1. Ed Youngblood, long-time director of the American Motorcyclist Association, has put to ink the life story of John Penton, one of America's premier off-road racers, and his quest to build the perfect off-road motorcycle. This biography traces the roots of the Penton clan from their modest, rural-Ohio farmstead, through personal triumph and tragedy, and explores the man behind the famed Penton motorcycles that were so victorious in the late 60's through the late 70's in America and overseas. Any vintage off-road afficionado will appreciate this behind-the-scenes look at the Penton racing dynasty. John Penton was a man driven to succeed, driven to reach for his dreams, driven to prove to the world that the impossible could be realized. The off-road motorcycling world today owes so much to this man of vision. Youngblood's biography shows us what this man is made of.

  2. A great story about a great man, a great bike, and a great era. Really brings back the memories about old enduros and six-days and actually explains why Penton, Bultaco, Ossa, Husky, etc., no longer exist.

  3. I didn't know too much about Pentons before reading this book, but was always interested in the history and lore behind the name. This book tells the life story of John Penton, and how his involvement, passion, and vision helped revolutionize the US off-road motorcycle market. It is an inspiring story for any off-road enthusiast.

3 comments about Foggy: The Explosive Autobiography.
  1. For all those fans of Carl Fogerty and for any fan of racing, this book is worth the price. It lets you in on the hardships and the triumphs of professional racing. Foggy's candor makes for an entertaining read. You'll expand your vocabulary with great Blackburn colloquialisms as well. Even if you are not a fan, you'll grow to like him for what he is, a racing legend.

  2. I think Neil Bramwell made few changes to what Carl wrote. The writing is not great but that is what makes this book good. Nobody is spared and Foggy tells it all (even details of his wedding night). Foggy also tells many embarassing stories on himself. It is a delightful read. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is that he is constantly making excuses about the times he was beaten and bragging about how easy it was when he won. But, on the other hand, what do you expect from Carl? I am not a fan of his but I really loved this book. If you are a fan of world superbike racing, I think you should definitely buy this book.

  3. If you are a motorcycle race fan, I highly suggest you read Foggy, the biography of Carl Fogarty. This book will teach you so much about the tale behind the motorcycle races. Foggy tells of many different things that he went through to make it on top, which he held for many years. I highly recommend reading this book.

5 comments about Internet Law and Business Handbook: A Practical Guide.
  1. I found this book to be packed with useful information on how to determine who has rights for what content on the internet, and how you can avoid getting yourself in trouble if you would like to use another party's content. Packed with examples of copyright, trademark and patent information, it lays out a sound approach. Also there are several templates on the accompanying disk that are great, including confidential disclosure agreements. A must-read for anyone "doing" internet content publishing and management.

  2. In an environment where technology has made change commonplace, one can still look to the rule of law to engender a stable foundation upon which business can be conducted. The "Internet Law and Business Handbook" cogently weaves time-tested laws with the new demands that technological progress has exacted on modern organizations. This is an indispensable reference for the conduct of business in a tech-driven marketplace. It is thoroughly researched and handily crafted to make the arcana of law accessible to the layperson.

  3. This comprehensive guide to Internet legal and business issues provides an important key to understanding the law as it relates to online products, internet development, and copyrights. From lawful use of Internet materials and privacy policies to email and linking legalities and service provider issues, Internet Law and Business Handbook goes into quite some depth on the latest issues and law.

  4. The forms needed a lot of tweaking, there were parts that referred incorrectly to other parts. And it is heavily client-centric, I think the book was written much more for the person looking to hire a developer than for the developer.

  5. I ordered this for a class only to find out on the estimated delivery day that it is not available from any sources. This happened at 2 separate and different sellers, one being amazon and the other being a college bookstore. Apparantly it is a difficult book to obtain. If you need this book for a class I highly recommend you buy it from one of the used book resellers and not amazon.com as a new book or anyone else who sells it new and gives a future shipment date. Be sure that it is actually 'in stock' before you order it and check that it is the correct edition.

2 comments about Motorcycle Road & Racing Chassis: A Modern Review of the Best Independents.
  1. being an engineer and fan of custom sport bike chassis, I read this book with great anticipation. As a pictoral and light history of the covered companies, the book succeeds. As a detailed reference book, or a book that would provide any kind of in-depth technical detail, I was sorely disapointed.
The book is well illustrated, and the author provides some insight into the different companies, but I consider it a light brushing rather than a thorough look at each.
Also, contrary to the publisher's description, I did not find any "full specifications" for ANY chassis, and only a general specification for P&M chassis. Additionally, although the book has a first printing in November 2007, most chapter references seem to predate 2001 except brief paragraph notes at the end of some chapters telling if the company is still in business or not.
I was also disapointed to find that other than a printed ad in the back of the book, there were no names, addresses, web sites, or phone #'s for any of the 15 companies included.
As an interesting quick look at the companies, the book succeeds. As a detailed reference for someone looking for "a valuable refference for the trade" the book is mediocre at best.
I would buy the book from the understanding that it is written with the depth of a magazine article rather than an in-depth textbook on the history of the companies involved.
I hate to sound harsh in reviewing the book, but I have to give the book a C+.

  2. The book is visually appealing, with high quality paper stock and some great photographs of handcrafted manchines. The book's written content suffers by comparison; there is too much filler in the form of engine specifications (how is this relevant in a book dedicated to chassis design/construction?), not enough content related to chassis specifications or construction, and some grievous editing errors. I would also have liked to learn more about the men who built/build these machines, the stories behind the bikes, but I can't necessarily count this as a fault, as the title hasn't strictly promised this. I don't regret buying it, but I have a more than casual interest in chassis design.
