- Lots of nice bikes but this movie was way to serious and emotional to have a name like "biker boys"... ..You should probably rent it before u buy it and if ur lookin for a real action packed biker movie get "torque" instead..O, and the special features were as dull as the movie
- I think the movie is great. It is one of my favorites. I have watched it twice since i got it. It is just one of those movies that you could watch over and over again and get excited everytime. It inspires you to want to have a motorcycle even if you are not going to ride it. (like me)
- 3 1/2 stars
it was ok\good for me I like the bike riding, the little action and it was fun good to enjoy it one of those now and then movies to enjoy.....
- I enjoyed this movie very much! An interesting story line and positive images of people of color.
Makes me love Laurence Fishburne even more!
- I'm not a biker nor do I know anything about bikes but I will say that I enjoyed Biker Boyz. Biker Boyz is a little decent film that isn't half bad consdering how quickly it was made. The film which was shot under the direction of Reggie Blythewood in 45 days. The script could have used a bit more work but the performances of Fisburne and Luke really highlight the film. The film has some nice bike stunts and features other good actors such as Megan Good, Larenz Tate and Orlando Jones. Throw in cameos by Tearrance Howard and Eria LaSalle and you have a good way to waste a Saturday afternoon.

- What can I say? This is a classic of my generation! Not only does it have good special effects but what they did to the whole classic vampire story was aewsome.Good movie,Good atmospheric cinematography and it was filmed in Santa Cruz!!!If you like vampire movies that don't take themselves too seriously or if your an 80's movie buff then by all means,Get it!!!
- First of all I have to say this is one of the best transfers to bluray I have seen for an 80's movie. Trust me i have seen/own some subpar ones like T2 and Total Recall. I put this movie in and watched it on my 65 plasma and my wife thought it was a newer movie just released thats how good the picture is. I also showed this to some of my friends and they also admitted that the quality on this was jaw dropping for such an old movie. If you like the movie and want to upgrade to a better quality then don't hesitate to buy this one you won't regret it. Also to note those who say the blu ray version is subpar you might wanna adjust your HD settings to make sure you are getting the most out of it. I had my TV on the factory settings and the picture quality on my blurays were pretty disappointing it wasn't until I started reading some of these reviews that I realized the factory settings were not getting the most out of the HD experience.
- WOW! loved the Bluray Quality !!
It's a Must-have for any Bluray owner!
Huge upgrade from DVD quality.
- THE LOST BOYS is not a comedy yet has many comedy aspects. This film never took itself too seriously but it didn't make fun of itself either. The scary moments, when they come, convey the real horror of life and death without mocking it. The Lost Boys along with a few Vampire Films from the 80's helped establish what we view as the modern Vampire. This film was written by Janice Fischer, James Jeremias and Jeffrey Boam. Directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Brooke McCarter and Dianne Wiest.
A mother takes her 2 sons to California to move in with her father after her recent divorce. The oldest son makes friends with the wrong crowd and the younger makes friends with a couple boys claiming to be Vampire Hunters. Strange murders are happening around the area and the oldest brother learns that he might have been transformed to a vampire by his new found friends. The younger brother must now try and save him along with his new Vampire studying friends. The Lost Boys is a must watch for any horror fan, a Cult Classic! we all know that Vampires Sleep all Day and Party all night!

5 comments about Akira (Geneon Signature Series).
- In the years since Akira was first unleashed, a lot has changed in anime - and movies in general, animated or not. Animation has become more sophisticated, voice acting has gotten much better and I think Akira is a big reason why (along with the likes of Ghost In The Shell and Armitage III).
I picked this up a couple years ago, and was mostly happy with my purchase. It sill looks as good as I remember, and the option to translate some of the grafitti and signs is nice for gaijin like me. However, I'm not as fond of the new English dub. While I don't remember the original dialogue line for line, this isn't the same. Some of the voices sound *off* and I'm pretty sure some of the dialogue was changed.
I consider myself a fan of anime, not a fanatic. I'm not familiar hundreds of titles, I don't know everyone's name and I don't worship everything that comes out of Japan. I guess that's part of why I prefer dubs over subs. Even with the best translations, you don't get the full meaning unless you're familiar with the original language, in which case you don't need to be using the subtitles anyway. With the right voice actors and the proper way of translation and localizing the dialogue (and other things, if needed), you can convey the exact same thing, even if it's not a 100% accurate, word for word translation. Subtitles can't do much beyond tell you what the person is saying; they can't tell you how they're saying it, what they're stressing, stuff like that. Some things don't translate very well, and changing them to something that makes sense in the subtitles doesn't always work; you need something more, which English voice acting has a much better chance of doing.
But that's just a matter of personal opinion. The English dub is the only thing I find flawed with this release. Of course, the movie itself has issues of its own - namely the rushed feeling that the end that seems as though the Akira Committee started to run out of steam. Some may point out that this doesn't tell the whole story that the manga version does or remain faithful to every detail in it, but that shouldn't stop you from seeing this movie.
20 years later, Akira is still a must see if you're into anime that's not of the non-sensical sort. And even if you're not into anime, it should still be worth a watch or two. Just go into this with an open mind and be prepared to see or hear something new each time.
Sure, it may not be the best anime ever, but it's still up there as one of the best around. Top 10 material, even.
- An amazing trend setting Animated film; intense, believable characters, deep story line, incredible animation, sound, and music. A pivotal, groundbreaking work that has inspired animators and film makers since.
- Akira in many ways put Anime on the map, at least in the US, but is deserves to be recognized as more than a gateway film into the world of Anime. It is the classic post-apocalyptic setting, a story about what happens when science and teenage hormones run amuck. The film tells the story of a teenage motorcycle gang, and their troubled, latent psychic and second in command Tetsuo. It is an examination of diverse psychology, The Will To Power, corruption in various forms, and ultimately, sacrifice. The artistry of the animation is still amazing almost twenty years later, and the story is just as compelling now as it was then.
- It really is unbelievable just how many animes derived and used something from this movie. Obvious origins can be compared to Dragon Ball and Elfen Lied, but so many ideas were first featured in this film that later translated into full-length anime series. Aside from setting the groundwork for future animes, this film was also one of the greatest, if not the greatest, anime film ever made (though my favorite is still Spirited Away).
The best aspect of this film, in my opinion, is the character development of Kaneda and Tetsuo, best friends in the film. While Kaneda evolves into a more empathatic person, Tetsuo makes the most dramatic changes, from a jealous and weak individual, to an insane, angry, blood thirsty villian, to a frightened child who clearly realizes his mistakes. Tetsuo has to be my personal favorite villian from any film, purely due to how well he is developed and the absolute human, kind-natured side to him that is apparent throughout the film.
Besides that, the movie is the orgin of anime for most anime fans, and is an absolute must-see film for anyone in my opinion, even for those who don't usually like anime. I mean, who doesn't like an awesome story line, great character developemnt, big explosions with high intensity sequences, and a great ending in my opinion. One of the greatest anime films ever made, and the film that really started it all for anime's popularity.
- I found this Anime to be enjoyable. Vivid colors and DTS sound envelope you into the movie. Backed by an interesting story.
Very imaginative and captivating. However as good as it was I have sceen many other Anime's I would rate better then this movie. Still a must see.

5 comments about The Mistress of Spices.
- This tasty little treat combines a handful of flavors: the foreign tang of Indian culture transplanted to the US, a sweet romance, a little of the bitterness when generations clash, and a pervasive zest that binds it all together. It doesn't hurt that Tilo, on whom the story centers, is knock-your-socks-off gorgeous.
What makes this a fairy tale, for me, is the edge of enchantment that pervades the story. Like a princess in a bewitched castle, Tilo's magic holds her captive in her little store and apartment. She has a wonderful power, but the spell will come undone if she tries to escape her captivity - or her loneliness. And, of course, a Prince Charming appears on the scene, with a charm of his own that's equal parts promise and threat.
I won't give away the ending, but it's much more satisfying than I would have guessed. It also shows how expressive an Indian sari can be, as stiff and formal as a three-piece suit, or as soft and evanscent as a kiss. You might want to watch this with a cup of tea and some fuzzy slippers - or you might want to obey the pepper.
-- wiredweird
- An unfairly criticized film.
Watching the lead actress walk past rows and rows of spice-bottles and murmur inane lines such as "Cinnamon, cinnamon, where did I go wrong" or "Black Sesame Seed, Black Sesame Seed, I pray you to protect him!", is something a viewer will have trouble getting used to. Despite being gorgeously shot, "The Mistress of Spices" may be too `far out' for some people, who may laugh at its' simplicity and supposed mysticism. It also features some very stilted dialog, a thoroughly wasted appearance by Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi, and various sub-plots that really don't have anything to add to the story.
And yet, it works. At least it worked for me. Every single person I have watched this with, has hated this film with a vengeance. I don't know why this is. Its certainly not worse than "Bride and Prejudice" which was made by the same creative team. Also, I found the simple, sweet quality of this film to be a turn-on, and its perfect for a Sunday afternoon at home when you have nothing better to do. It also has some glorious shots of Indian spices - who knew there were so many of them! The spice shop alone deserves a `making-of' featurette - this is a film that pays homage to the art of cinematography - in fact, I would say that the last film that boasted of such stunning cinematography would be "Kingdom of Heaven".
And then there is Aishwarya Rai starring as the lead character Tilo. Despite being the most fantastically beautiful being to ever walk the face of this planet, she is a reasonably adept actress. Here, her luminous blue-gray eyes are used to full advantage, and the camera lingers lovingly on her porcelain skin. She is bathed in all sorts of light here - sunlight, moonlight, artificial light, and at times you get the feeling that the director is a little obsessed with her (I dare you to find at least a minute of screentime here when Miss Rai is not on the screen). I don't blame him - watching a nymph of this sort of physical perfection itself is too much to handle, but really, you will like this movie primarily if you are a fan of Aishwarya Rai, considering everything in the movie is pretty much about her.
I'm not so crazy about the `magical elements' they brought in here. Even if you buy into the fact that she speaks to the spices, and that they answer here (albeit telepathically), there is no justification for the numerous mistakes she makes in her spice shop, and her absolute indifference to the outside world. We are also supposed to believe that she has never been `touched by love' (an Indianism for being a virgin), but by the end of the film she's busy dressing herself up like a cheap China Doll and only too happy to quickly disrobe for Dylan McDermott (this entire segment was unintentionally hilarious). Er, ok, so we get it. The lady has never had sex so she's really into it. Still, since she `rejects' her spices, she supposedly has to go through an ancient `fire ritual'. The climax of the movie features the whole shop burning down, alongwith Tilo (the lead character), but lo and behold! She didn't burn down after all!
The film ends rather anti-climactically, with the lead actress `getting the guy' (or so we assume) and getting to keep her link with the spices alive at the same time (after she profusely apologizes to them). Also, the Red Chillies in the spice shop are supposed to denote Tilo's repressed lust, and everytime she walks past the chillies, she squirms and sweats and has heart-palpitations. I found this more than a little ridiculous, but Aishwarya plays this straight-faced, which is probably the best thing to do when the script is so ludicrous to begin with. Still, given the badly written screenplay, you can't fault Aishwarya for sleepwalking through many of the segments here, though I must admit, hearing her repeatedly ponder on life's deeper questions while talking to the spices can you leave you rather unnerved. Sample - "Coriander, Coriander, why hast thou forsaken me?" (seriously)
As a mythical fantasy fable from India (though its set completely in San Fransisco, except for the opening scenes in Kerala, India), this really isn't bad. Its not the greatest film ever made, obviously, but strangely enough, this has a LOT of replay value (I've seen it about ten times already - primarily due to the funny lines), and really, who doesn't like looking at Aishwarya Rai? The woman is pretty much flawless. I fail to understand how people can still find overrated mannequins such as Angelina and Penelope attractive after they've seen Miss Rai. The woman is luminous from within, and she just needs to turn up in a scene to turn it into gold. Perhaps that is why this two star film actually becomes a four star movie.
A great watch. Buy this, don't rent it, because its one of those rare crossover films that beg for repeated viewing. Though its been classified as `chick flick', it falls somewhere between contemporary world cinema, and an arthouse flick. Either way, this one needs a place in your DVD collection right now.
- A large group had gathered to watch this film. "What is going on?" We kept asking ourselves while watching this film. Everyone in the room had studied India and Hindu religion, some for up to thirty years and there is no basis in reality for this movie's premise. There is no "spice mysticism" or "spice cult/sisterhood." Spices have been used for cooking and healing for thousands of years in India but, not like this!
Finally, one person from India watching with us remarked "This is like one of those phoney Kung-Fu mysticism movies! Why did they use an Indian actress for this? I guess Aishwarya Rai needed the money and I guess "Indians" are exotic and hip right now and there is a growing interest in Indian culture hence, this silly film.
Why does it matter if it is accurate? Why not just watch this for a romantic novel on film? It is nicely filmed and the scenes are pretty. In truth, it doesn't for, as my mother used to say "It's only a movie!"
However, if you are really interested in Indian people and their culture, remember that there are other many fine Indian films(that are not Bollywood's cheesy, musical silliness) that tell wonderful stories and remain true to the culture. Take some time and find out the truth. It is far more interesting and will enrich your life in ways you can't imagine.
- rai is beautiful even in non-colorful saris..the love story is semi belivable..but is unique for the american-indian match..the ending could be planned out better..but the movie as a whole was not bad
- I found this is be a great movie and it came to me in wonderful shape and in fast shipping time. It is a nice story and very interesting.

- You can see a lot of historical MotoGp and 500cc class pilots talking about everything you cant see on a TV transmision.
Wayne Raine, Mick Doohan, Randy Mamola, Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Nick Hyden, John Hopkings, and a lot pilots more will take you through this two DVD discs into the Formula one of bikes: MOTOGP.
- Very cool dvd, i totally recommend it if your into MotoGP! gives you a great history on valentino & max.
- I review this DVD from a personal perspective of having been a great fan on GP motorcycle racing since the late 1970s. In my considered opinion, Valentino Rossi, one of the principal subjects of this "documentary", is one of the greatest racing talents to ever come along. I only wish such skill was also present in the director of this video production. Frankly, this DVD is almost unwatchable for one steeped in motorcycle racing. It is as if the director decided to make a film that someone not at all interested in motorcycle racing could tolerate watching in between aftershave and pizza TV commercials.
Such an execrable production as this would not have been possible without the mediocre influence of MTV. Every segment of track action, which is what real racing is all about, is aborted before one has any sense of continuity, with quick cuts to interviews, pit activity, and other off-track activity. Back and forth... back and forth... It is as if the intended audience for this video had no interest whatsoever in motorcycle racing and the artificial editing contrivances of the "director" were needed to alleviate the obvious boredom of track competition.
This video is made for people who have no knowledge or interest in motorcycle racing. Anyone with such interest or knowledge should look elsewhere. The only reason I give this dreck a second star is that there are a couple of personal interviews which do provide some insight into the riders. Otherwise this is a total pass. I hope they never let this "director" near a motorcycle racing production again.
- a lifelong motorcycle racing fan
- I haven't been going to road races for a few years, so I had lost track of most of the MotoGP riders and many of the AMA riders that transfered to MotoGP. These guys were just starting to make names for themselves during the last seasons that I attended. These DVD's give a great overview of not only the riders, but the big changes in the sport. At the same time you can get involved in the competition going on for #1. Much better than reading about it. Maybe not as good as being there, but worth every penny!
- This movie is sure to excite even those not interested in MotoGP. It gives great insight into the mindset of the riders as well as a great behind the scenes look at the series. It would be a great addition to any movie collection. It will have you cheering for your favorite rider, even if you remember the actual races. Oh, and the "Crumpet" is nice too!

5 comments about The Motorcycle Diaries (Full Screen Edition).
- Rarely is it easy to make the distinction between social history and cultural mythology. And to create a film to represent the lives of complex historical figures is a daunting task, yet Walter Salles has proven that he is more than capable of creating such a film. In The Motorcycle Diaries we are shown an approximation of the early life of Ernesto Guevara, the man who would eventually recognized worldwide as the revolutionary Che Guevara.
The story begins in Argentina where friends Ernesto Guevara (Gael García Bernal) and Alberto Granado (Rodrigo de la Serna) decide to take a motorcycle trip across South America. Both are studying to become doctors but are restless and wish to see more of their land, learn more of its history, people and culture. Their trek will take them on an amazing journey of over 8000 kilometers and will end in Venezuela at the Guajira Peninsula. Their route will take them through Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Chile, the Andes and into the Peruvian Amazon. They get off to a rough start, barely avoiding serious accidents and experiencing numerous mechanical problems. The motorcycle, a Norton 500 from 1939, is dilapidated and causes many difficulties. But their early misadventures are soon overshadowed by their realization that much of South America is divided, culturally and economically. Ernesto and Alberto witness the turmoil of their land and it changes them profoundly. While Alberto acknowledges the troubles of the people and sympathizes with them, Ernesto takes them to heart and understands the need for action. The faces of the downtrodden, the diseased and the impoverished haunt him. A new conviction is born within him, a new cause for his existence and he is given something to fight for. He craves revolution and the unity of Latin America.
The film gives a humanistic portrait of a man who has been idolized by young political radicals, respected by social reformers and admired by philosophers. But the man known as Che is more than just a symbol of revolution. He was above all a complicated man capable of sincerity, compassion and instituting great change. For those who are already familiar with his life, this film will deepen your understanding and appreciation of him. For those unfamiliar with Che, the film is a wonderful introduction to a fascinating man.
The film is driven by powerful performances from its two leading men, who enrich their characters with impetuosity, angst, empathy and humor. The music ingeniously captures the flavor of South American culture while imbuing the film with the angst of youthful rebellion. The Motorcycle Diaries is a film that should not be missed.

Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life
- Great movie. Too bad Che turned into such a lunatic after this period in his life.
- An idyllic and compassionate Argentine rich kid decides to throw it all away and redeem himself by redeeming the poor. Only he turns out to be Che Guevara!
Guevara's appeal as a young non-conformist with a heart of gold and a mind of steel -an "armed Christ", as Sartre called him- bears little resemblance with the actual long haired dictator that was: a Stalinist fanatic who once wrote about the joys of executing people, and his personal urgent need to do so. Why these psychos get such pop-star idol recognition among First World well intentioned rich liberals escapes me. Maybe it's because they want to appear cool, defiant and politically correct. Maybe because they also feel guilty about having plenty in a world of scarcity. But mostly because they know nothing, and want to know even less, about the countries they pretend to help by supporting their local crackpots. Either that, or they're just plain morons!
Someday soon, I'd like to see Mexican heartthrob García Bernal -with his handsome "Howard the Duck" looks- impersonate a young Lavrenti Beria on his road to epiphany, and show me how nice a fellow that chap really was. I would love to see that movie get raving reviews and international awards, and I'd also like to see your kids wearing that lovable commissar's face on their T-shirts. And -goes without saying- see how you like that, for a change!
- Imagine a film purporting to depict the youth of Adolf Hitler that never dealt with an instance of his Anti-Semitism and you will about have what The Motorcycle Diaries represents for Latin American Communism. The film, based upon the book of the same name, culled from the diaries of Ernesto `Che' Guevara (Gael García Bernal), the mass murdering top henchman of Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution, attempts to portray the monster as an all-caring near-Christ-like figure. Now, I am not one who's a PC stickler when it comes to art and truth, but the fact is this film is a) bad history, and b) even worse art. While not quite as bad a film as Monster, for its better visuals than that feminist ode to girl power via serial murder, the earlier film at least acknowledged that its subject was a mass murderer, even as it excused it. By contrast, The Motorcycle Diaries not only glosses over Che's massive crimes against humanity, but gives absolutely no hint that such evil ever resided in the man. He was Latin America's Osama bin Laden before there was an Osama bin Laden. Yet, to the recrudescent Hollywood PC Elitists he is a hero, simply because he opposed America. That, alone, to them, erases all of the blood on his hands, even though he was enamored of the Soviet Union's genocidal methods. Yet, George W. Bush, a man I certainly do not admire, is utterly reviled for his crimes against humanity, even though his `cause' is arguably only just as ignoble and ineffective as Che's ultimately was.
The film, which was lauded at the Sundance Film Festival, and widely touted by executive producer and political naïf, Robert Redford, follows spoiled rich kid Che's months-long trek, at age 23, across South America with an older pal named Alberto Granado (Rodrigo De la Serna), 29. The film, while filled with beautiful vistas of the countryside, is not particularly well shot by director Walter Salles nor cinematographer Eric Gautier, as there is none of the lingering sumptuousness that one finds in Lawrence Of Arabia, nor Kundun, films made by filmic masters like David Lean and Martin Scorsese. Instead, we get filmic postcards, not engaging realities. The framing of the shots sometimes seems as if it were done by a tourist who was in a hurry to get through whatever area he was traveling through. It also plumbs virtually every cliché of the two genres it inhabits- the buddy film and the coming of age road film. On the buddy side you have handsome, serious, empathetic Che, who-like George Washington, cannot tell a lie- he rips a doctor's poorly worded novel after his pal praises I- telling the old man to stick to medicine (would that someone had told Che the same thing!), and the chubby, fast-talking sidekick, Alberto, on a continual poon hunt. They get in to wacky adventures, constantly crash their motorcycle, and escape disaster by the skins of their teeth. On the road picture side, Che falls in love with a beautiful girl, but breaks her heart, the two meet strange people and grow up, chase girls, and idyllic vistas inspire the duo to talk like a bad screenwriter's imagination of what depth is, especially when at Maachu Picchu. If this insipidity is what Screenwriter's 101 feels reconstructed conversations should be, well....yeesh. In short, this is one foreign film whose subtitles do not matter vis-à-vis dubbing because they are bad either way.... Despite being made by a Brazilian filmmaker, this film is thoroughly Hollywood, and bound to polarize. Simpleminded Leftists have and will praise it to the hilt, despite its manifest flaws, all because they will not bother to check out the facts. Rightists will damn the film, sight unseen, thereby missing the chance to rip its poor artistry and only justify the many delusions of their enemies, by showing them they are correct that Rightists cannot separate art from reality, either. And so it goes....but, at least, I recognize such things. If the film did so I would not have to state it.
- This is a powerful story and I think helped me understand more about Che Guevara. When you see his deep passion for the people and dedication to "the least of these," you can see more how he became a revolutionary. Even though he ended up caught up in violence, you can see how his heart began in the right place.
Beautiful cinematography, and Gael Garcia Bernal does a wonderful job as Che, with just the right mix of intensity and innocence.

- My husband is an avid motorcyclist and loves this movie. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes motorcross, motorcycles, etc..
- This is one of my all-time favorite docus'. I especially enjoy seeing people having good, clean fun and enjoying the company of others all together for a common purpose. As the audience watches true professionals in their trade, this time, motorcyclists, it brings something out of you and the youngsters: a good and clean desire to make the mosts of whatever life you are in. That is the reason why I have heard from several people that "even if you're not into motorcycling, you'll enjoy this film". Well done in all respects.
- I saw this movie in the theater when I was 4 years old in Las Vegas! One week later my mom got me my first mini bike, and I've been an avid off road motorcycle enthusiast since then. I finally found this movie in a video store in 1981 (10 years after first seeing it), if you like motorcycles, and the 70s, this movie is the best. Bruce Brown does a killer job putting this masterpiece together. Flattracker Mert Lawlwill, Malcolm smith, Steve Mcqueen, and a host of other stars, and future stars appear. I have viewed this movie at least once a year, since I found it in the store in 1981! Also very humorous!
- whats there to say, if your passionate about bikes you'll love it!!!!
must have for your collection!!!
- I found this movie/documentary to be rather sophmoric and goofy, but worth watching anyway. Some motorcycle magazine editors feel they have to mention this, "EPIC", tale in their respective publications every month, raving about how wonderful it is and how much it influenced their lives. I just don't see it. I grew up in the 60"s and 70"s and have been riding motorcycles for 39 years. I certainly didn't need Bruce Brown to tell me to.

5 comments about The Road Warrior / Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (Double Feature).
- sequal to madmax loved it ever since i saw it for the first time. I watch it every other week or so cause its so exciting but still believable ITS A EXCELLENT MOVIE
- Yes, it is true Warner Bros. botched this dvd by releasing it in full screen format. The Road Warrior is a classic, and these films probably deserve the sort of attention MGM gave to Mad Max 1. I think we can all agree the studios have no friggin' clue what the fans want.
However, I bought this double feature for under ten dollars. So what if it's junk? It's under ten bucks! No skin off my back.
Also, may I be so bold to say that a part of me believes these films to be, dare I say, even better in this sloppy, scratchy full screen format. I mean, regardless of their legendary cult status, and despite my own personal love for the post-apocalypse, these are schlock films. That doesn't mean they aren't great, because they are, but perhaps they are best viewed in circumstances and formats that are less than stellar. I think of these films as zooted up B-Movies, sort of the way John Carpenter was making some of his films in the late 70's and early 80's. Or maybe even Spaghetti Westerns such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. When I bought my special editions of those great Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns, I found that they had added footage I didn't give a damn about, disrupting the flow of the film, and additional new and improved sound effects. I don't want new sound effects! I want the old sound effects. The ones that sound terrible and completely unreal with all their echoing and ricocheting sounds. That is what makes them what they are-- superbly unpolished, and vintage. I would actually hate to see them do this with the Mad Max series, though I think it may be inevitable now that I see a 4th film is in the works.
Perhaps, someday, Warner Bros. will get it right and release a decent box set collection for these films, complete with bonus features galore. Until that time, this set will do. Remember, after all, it is cheap. You pay for what you get. And that ain't bad.
- I am a fan of those 2 dvd packs. They can be purchased at attractive prices and are space saving at home, for those who like to collect films.
Mad Max 2 and 3 -both - show that a movie does not need Asian fight techniques, kick boxing and kung fu fighting to be interesting, fast and thrilling. It is a solid end time theme with no modern fight inputs and also rarely nowadays: No blood is floating through the films and you don't even miss it. I also like the modern horror and action thriller, but if you see too many of them at a time I think that the way they are made is quite enervating sometimes. That's why I think that Mad Max is a nice vacation from the usual twenty first century standards where blood spills all over, people stay in the air kicking for hours and all you can hear is the f... word. Brilliant young Mel Gibson guarantees that the spectator has a real great time. Fine!
- Of course it's Full Screen - it only stated it - I do not know why everyone else was surprised. The movies are absolutely great! My boyfriend recommended these (80s fan) and I was absolutely thrilled by them. Forget some of the reviews...they must have been having a bad day - it only says it's full screen and well if you've seen the movie it's a great deal to get both of the movies at a great price.
(Review by Fabiola Valadez - Rafael's Sister)
- This is a real shame, sure it contains both Road Warrior and its sequel Thunderdome but they are FULL SCREEN VERSIONS,the beautiful camera work cant be enjoyed to the fullest,if it were 1.85 films that might have been somewhat accepable, but these were filmed in 2.35,so you loose allmost 50% of the picture,it;s like getting half a movie!!! Would have been great if they were widescreen transfers, but no such luck here,if you got a Blu Ray player, than get the Road Warrior in that format, heck the price is not much higher than this one!!! Like I said go Blu!!!

- The movie is great but I was disappointed to find that the only sub titles were in Spanish
- I gave this as a gift to a friend and he loved it. It has extra footage of the real life Bert Munro. If you are into Bonneville stuff you will love this.
- A wonderful heartwarming story for anyone with an interest in racing. This true story was recommended to us by our son, and my husband thinks it is a great flick to share.
- As a youngster crazy about motorcycles [Indians in particular] I recall reading about Burt Munro and his record breaking antique Indian. It seemed surreal that Burt would be running an Indian at Bonneville long after the Indian brand had met its demise, and setting impressive records. The film does justice to a great true adventure. Burt merited to be portrayed by a front line actor like Anthony Hopkins. The result is a masterpiece.
- I bought this for my father-in-law. He loves it! You will definately laugh. If you know someone that is in to motorcycles...this is an awesome gift they will love!
