1 comments about Early Motorcycles: Construction, Operation and Repair (Dover Books on Transportation).
  1. Early Motorcycles: Construction, Operation and Repair was first published in the 1920s, when thousands of motorcycles were already in use. Author Victor Page himself was an early transportation pioneer: his background lends to a lively survey of motorcycles, from engines, lubrication and materials to gear types and standard equipment. It's hard to believe EARLY MOTORCYCLES first appeared in 1924 - and that the instructions on operation and repair remain as relevant today as it did when it was first published.

  1. Great service manual, tells you step by step how to do things. I was having problems with my 1999 ZX6R and know very little about bikes but now I'm replacing spark plugs, air filters, etc. Doing all my own work saving lots of money.

1 comments about Way to Go: Two of the World's Great Motorcycle Journeys.
  1. Geoff Hill has travel writing genius in his very soul. There will always be a grateful audience for his love of life and people and an ability to express it in copy in a way that most of us can only dream of. The funniest travel writer in our business, he richly deserves his many accolades for producing a distinctive brand of travel journalism that manages to combine side-splitting hilarity with acuity of observation and a real insight into what makes cultures tick. Invariably a joyful and enlightening read.
    - Julie Shmueli and David Rosenberg, organisers of Travelex UK travel writing awards

Geoff Hill has an outstanding writing talent with a wicked sense of fun. For all the hilarious observations and polished one-liners, there is also thoughtful, informative travelogue with lots of useful recommendations. Brilliant writing, genuinely and originally funny, and a supremely entertaining read.
    - Martyn Lewis CBE, broadcaster

Good travel writers are in short supply, great travel writers are prizes. I have been a travel writer and editor for over 20 years, and Geoff is one of the most talented travel writers ever to cross my path.
    - Melissa Shales
Chairman, British Guild of Travel Writers

He has wonderful views on life, a great turn of phrase and a great sense of humour. His off-beat observations and zany outlook on life are laugh-out-loud funny.
    - John Mullin, The Independent

Shift your arse, Kerouac, Geoff Hill's on the road - faster, funnier and still alive.
    - Colin Bateman

    We love his stuff.
    - Graham Boynton, Travel Editor, Daily Telegraph

    Remarkable, astonishing writing.
    - Jeremy Atiyah, then Travel Editor, Independent on Sunday

2 comments about Triumph and BSA Triples: The Complete Story of the Trident and Rocket 3.
  1. This book is dedicated to the production and racing history of the Triples, but not much of it is useful. It has a few pages of color pictures, but only covers a few model years, and even the bikes pictured are not original, and have been modified.

There is only a few scant mentions of the Rocket III, and very, very little in terms of detailed info. If you are interested in the history of the racing triples this is for you. If you are looking for information for restoration purposes, keep looking. This isn't it.

  2. Brilliant and informative bike on the history of the bikes. A must read if you are either a owner of the bikes or just interested in british bikes.
